A few years ago one of my closest friends and I were talking about weight (btw she's super slim naturally and I'm a bit overweight) and she told me "you're not fat, you're just... fluffy". And ofc I laughed along but later on it literally made me cry when I was thinking about it. oops im rambling, i guess thats what fluffy made me think of lol
I'm currently on a weight loss journey and I've lost over 90lbs, and I agree with so much of this! Thanks for making a video like this and sharing your journey to help and motivate others. :-)
I am so glad you uploaded. You were always my favorite at buzzfeed. Everyone loves Saf and she is great, but you are much more someone I could see myself hanging out with. You are goofy, funny, blunt and spunky. Love it! Good luck, girl!
I'm so glad you have your own channel now! And I love how you talk about more "real stuff" and not just superficial things...if that makes sense... anyways! You are really inspiring to me and motivate me to make more videos and just make me smile!
Laura Clemens you should upload your journey, talk about what you did and the obstacles you overcame and your emotions through the journey! 85 pounds is an amazing weightloss! You are goals! I myself have lost a lot of wight (all the gain due to first pregnancy) I started at 155, ended at 198 the day I gave birth to my daughter 3 years ago, took 14 months to start losing the wight, got down to 145, got pregnant with my son and only gained 20 with him, 6 weeks post partum and I was 135, now I'm 125 and I really want to talk about my weight loss but unfortunately mine all happened because I breast feed. I didn't have to work hard for my loss and if I start working out I'll get too small.
Yaasss girl. The biggest problem with me is I don't know what healthy eating is. I'll go do my cardio then think 'oh a salad' but I end up eating junk because I'm so hungry after
Try compromising. Have yourself something not so good for your body but that you consider yummy only after you have a salad. Pretty soon you'll stop craving the junk. And don't make salad eating seem like a drudgery. Make "fun "salads with healthy ingredients that you enjoy. For example what really makes a salad flavorful for me is adding nuts and a healthy vinaigrette. Dried or fresh fruits in a salad is also yummy to me. I've been trying to lose weight too and making salads that I actually enjoy has really helped me.Hope this helped.
My body just LOVED its weight (though I didn't). It was seriously stuck there. Exercise didn't help, it just made me fit under my fat. When I finally got tested for food allergies and had to seriously change my diet (seriously felt like a death sentence at the time)- they fat just melted off. Lost around 20 lbs no real exercise other than tending kids at a very sedentary job. I was always hungry too- low blood sugar issues. So I started eating LOTS of good fat- nuts, avocados, coconut oil, good protein (not a TON, but about a palm sized serving) and GOBS of vegetables. If I was still hungry I just had another servings of veggies first. Then after 15 min if I still wanted more of X, I could. And 1-3 fruit a day. No sugar (I'm allergic to cane sugar), very little to no breads, pasta, grains (I'm allergic to wheat and eggs). So We eat a lot of meat, veg, and some potatoes. I was told that the high good fat and almost no grains helped stabilize my blood sugar so it didn't crash anymore. And the nutrition in all the veggies actually triggered my "fullness" feeling, as often we feel hungry for nutrition, not macro (carbs, fats, protein). I dunno- but it really worked for me and I've kept it off over 2 years now. Something very similar to a relaxed version of Whole30. Good luck everyone. Remember- every body is different. Strive for health, not magazine beauty. Even those models don't really look like that.
Hitting you up with some questions :) 1) what you eat in a day would be pretty sweet! 2) finding out what you wanna do as an adult - jobs etc. 3) bad with money - living on your own salary and still affording stuff 4) any adult realizations? Like expectations/reality? Overall I am really happy to see you, looking forward to seeing you more!!!
this is the realist thing I've seen on youtube when it comes to how to lose wieght. You inspired me Candice! Congrats on your accomplishment! If you can, make more videos about this. Appreciate your honesty! :)
This video really hits close to home. I'm currently going through a weight loss process myself (and discovered a hypothyroidism condition in the process) after spending pretty much my whole life as a fat person, and it's really hard to admit I'm the only one responsible for the body I have. I literally went through the same process as you, from having someone teach me to look at my body as a whole, not just BMI, and testing what works and what doesn't for me. There's still a large road in front of me, but seeing people that made it through helps a lot with motivation. Thanks for sharing your experience with us Candace, and I'm eager to see what else you have in store for your channel!
I literally love you, thank you for being one of the rare honest people. So many people are getting sucked into those "quick easy fix" trends and it's giving people a lot of false hope. You're fricking awesome
Hell yeah! You kicked ass. So glad you're sharing and proud of your progress. It's not about being "thin" or losing weight, as you mentioned. It's about being healthy and fit. Keep killin' it.
1) Girl you are literally my goals. 2) I don't have time to watch this right now as it's 23:34 and I get up at 5:15 for school, so I'll watch it in the morning. 3) I just wanted to say that I love you, and I can't wait to watch this. 4) Could you open up an email for anonymous questions?
you're so natural and telling the truth. it's not easy, smething has to click in your head to get on the right track. and you're doing it for yourself only. thank you for sharing your experience so honestly.
I'm really in a place like where you were, and nothing I've been trying has really been working. I guess I've been looking for the "magic solution," but you're right, I have to change how I think about it. I've had a really hard time lately, hating on myself and trying to figure out how to "fix myself," and you've really made me feel better. This video was exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you
Also being a high school student who has to take care of her mom who has dementia, I appreciate that you recognize that there isn't only one way to be healthy. Like yes working out for an hour a day is what I should do and some days that happens (at least twice a week), but other days it's just drinking more water or not having ice cream
Girl you are SO motivating! Finally a real, raw youtuber. Bout damn time!! I am on the health, happiness and change of lifestyle journey right now and it is truly the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I am also so proud of you and your progress!! That it AMAZING!
I loved this video. I am currently in the weight loss battle and finally doing it for MYSELF which is key. I was always doing it for some other reason! I am so happy you and Saf have your own channels!
I work out 4-5 times a week an LOVE it. I sleep well and eat AMAZINGLY healthy during the week BUT on the weekend... Ill have pizza, burgers, fried chicken and all the pasta I want. Thats my struggle 😩 I can't control myself during the weekend and its hindering my results. I need help ☹️
Pamela Cordoba try changing your mindset of what 'treating yourself' is....is 'treating yourself' putting something into you that could damage your health, make you feel guilty, stop you from reaching your goals...or is it fuellibg your body well, going for an adventure in nature, figuring out a fun new healthy recipe, going to a dance class etc etc? 😁 Thats whats helped me...the unhealthy habits disappeared when I realisedthat other things could fill that gap and feel way better! just find some healthy habits that you can do over the weekend!
Pamela Cordoba just eat one meal of that a week... or potentially two but on different days. Not only does it shock your system and boost your metabolism but it helps mentally. Two cheat meals a week won't change your results, you could also work your macros around your cheat meal which would be helpful.
SAMEEE for me its cuz I'm busy during the week so Ill be so preoccupied I dont get very hungry or think about food.but during the weekends I have nothing to do but eat and use social media ugh
I don’t believe in cheat meals. I follow 80/20 so I eat healthy everyday but also have treats everyday. Cheat meals restrict everything which makes you want and crave more foods. I don’t believe in good or bad foods. Food is just food. So don’t do cheat days
Thank you for being so real and honest! I have been on a "healthier me" journey for about two months now and I keep seeing all of these people saying they lost 30 pounds in three months and I get upset because it's not happening for me. It's so reassuring to hear that 8 months is totally doable and okay! You're awesome and I will absolutely be subscribing :)
Omg girl your so funny and genuine. Love ittttt. Also it sounds just like me... I'm 22 and I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life, I've started getting really dark stretch marks on my stomach. I'm not an alcoholic but cutting out alcohol is hard and I work in a restaurant so my schedule is crap and my eating schedule is crap and I'm surrounded by crap food and alcohol. So proud of you tho, get iiiiiitttttttt
Hey Candace! what would you recommend on terms of telling your friends you're on a health plan? I feel like I want to keep it a secret because I don't want to be judged! What do you think? Love you!
Claudia Aguayo I'm not Candace but😂.. I think that friends and family would be very accepting of a health plan. If I were you I would go about saying how you want to be healthy. I don't know why you would be judged for taking a big commitment to take care of your health. Either way I think it is a really brave thing to spread the word of being healthy and taking care of yourself. Good luck ! 🙃
Gabby G that is so nice of you to say Gabby, thank you!! Its just that like Candace said, we can't be perfect every day and I feel like if I were to eat a bag of chips one day, everyone would be on my back! Has that happened to you or anyone?
Claudia Aguayo - I made a commitment to eat clean some years back. I have some medical issues that cause me to hold an extra 100 lbs or so, but that doesn't stop me from exercising and clean eating. The only time I get teased about my eating is when my co-workers see me eat a cookie or something. Then, it's goof natured "hey guys, come watch! Bel's eating a cookie!". And then the inevitable "pictures or it didn't happen.". I never get judged by them for being fat and having a cookie, because they all know how hard I work, how clean I eat and how it's pretty obvious my weight is a medical issue. Long story short, DOOO EEET!!!
Candace Lowry thank you girl! I've been on and off since November, that's why I haven't told anyone LOL but I've made the decision to be consistent from now on!
You are so right! Doing something for yourself is a major self boosting. I started running a month ago and i am obsessed with how happier i feel since i started, well my body has changed a lot (obviously), my skin as well, my mood, my panic attacks stopped, i eat with no remorse and i feel SOOO proud for every meter i run more. I love breaking my records and feel light and powerful! Starting from 10' run and slowly and steadily improving with breaks in between each km and eventually running a 7km in one try and i still got to improve A LOT! I realized that it's not for dropping kg anymore... but its my therapy!
you know what this makes me so happy! i feel ya girl on the same fluffy path here and regularly having breakdowns on the kitchen and bathroom floor all the time while also stuffing myself with chocolate and ice cream. i legit get the fact its just not about looking good in that dress or not having to suck in air while youre sitting down, at the end of the day i feel so depressed when im eating junk all the time it makes me feel so sadim inspired to make changes and thanks for the tips!! also on a side note please oh please dont change into those uppity youtubers who just really portray unrealistic stuff and promote stuff on their channels iv had enough of those! good day!
So happy you have a channel!! This video was so helpful! I was 200lbs when I got married 4 years ago. My husband and I both changed our eating habits in the spring of 2015 and lost 60lbs each. This last year was pretty rough and I've gained most of it all back :( I've been feeling very guilty and disappointed in myself. Your video really helped me get out of my own head to find my self worth again. Thank you!!
I honestly feel you. I don't diet at all. I recently have gained weight. I know how it feels. I was eating healthy, but not doing much exercise. Some of the weight was not my fault lol. I have hashimotos disease so my thyroid wasn't producing my hormones that start my metabolism so basically everything I ate was being stored as fat and wants being used. I recently started to work out a lot more. And with my doctor I found some new mess to get my thyroid in check. I'm already feeling better. I still have a long way to go but it is a start! Also if you think you have hypothyroidism definitely go see your doctor. It is hereditary so if it runs in the family you are definitely at a higher risk. But don't just chalk down your weight gain as a disease you don't have.
Im so happy you approached weight loss and fitness this way! I'm so tired of gurus being so afraid of food. Its so triggering. I was watching this Australian girl, Dani for awhile, at first I really liked her, but when she got into fitness, everything was unhealthy :(Because of that, I felt bad for eating an occasional sweet and I felt like I deserved a harder workout for just having a bite. So thank you. I hope more people upload this kind of videos like you do. Because it will really help people like me.
I love love love how genuine you are. Thanks for making content that's positive, relatable and realistic. Good luck with your channel, I'm already a big fan! :)
This helps so much thank you. I started my lifestyle change on November 2016. I am 5'3 and I was 190lbs, but now 150.9lbs :) I still have another 20-30 pounds to go, but I know I can do it! I have been having a very hard time with the emotional aspects of weight loss recently though and this video helps remind me that the pay off in the end will be worth all the sweat and tears. Thanks again :D
ATimelessLove Thank you so much! There's no secret it's just staying consistent with a healthy diet and workout routine that you enjoy! For me personally I'm on a 1200-1300 calorie meal plan (make sure you talk to your doctor about how much of a calorie deficit you should safely be on to lose weight), and my meals consisted of a bunch of vegetables + some fruits, salmon, chicken breast, brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal etc. They are all foods I've learned to genuinely enjoy which is important! I also try to switch up my recipes so it doesn't feel like I'm eating the same thing all the time. I let myself have a cheat meal once a week which is so essential, because it not only keeps you sane lol it's also a great way to boost up your metabolism! When it comes to exercise I workout 3-5 times a week which consists of a 5 mile run as well as 45 minutes of strength training. I absolutely fell in love with both running and going to the gym, but you don't have to do those things if it's not something you enjoy. There are an abundance of great physical activities that you can participate in, so just experiment a little by trying new activities and pick one that you love that you can realistically do on a regular basis. The most important thing is to stay consistent and be patient. Always remember that this is a lifestyle change, so take it easy and start slow. You don't have to change your lifestyle overnight! Start by making simple changes to your current lifestyle such as cutting down on the soda and desserts, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, really listen to your body and only eat when you're hungry and stop when you are satisfied, etc. Just stay consistent and it will all pay off :) I hope this helps and good luck with everything!
this has been by far, one of thee most real-est videos I have seen. it's sunk in more info that a video telling me to chug down a million shakes and bowls full of veggies. So THANK YOU! btw this video actually makes me want to start being healthier and making better choices! seriously, very much appreciate it.
I stopped looking at scales because judging your worth on a number is degrading to me.. It's all about how you feel when you look in the mirror and how clothes hug you that give you real confidence
I'm so happy that you have your own channel! I always felt you needed to shine more on your own, you're super relatable! Love-this. Shout out to the shoe in the back 👠
Thank you Candice, for preaching implementing a genuinely healthy lifestyle in relation to weight lost. These messages should be empowering people, not simply how to get "skinny." Lots of love xx
Yesss girl!! GOOD FOR YOU. It's so hard, and good for you for working your ass off and being proud of it. And thank you (!) for pointing out these "fixes" that everyone is selling are not healthy nor permanent solutions. You're amazing, thank you for sharing and being totally honest
I just had a breakdown today about my weight and, this video really helped me think things through. I love videos like this that real talk you. Keep being awesome Candace.
I love these types of real videos, but I think you should try to set up a space to use for the background, like a wall or a flat background. Not saying this vid isn't good, I love it and I'm super stoked that you're making videos!!! But just a suggestion, do with it what you will :) I'll still watch them videos regardless Maybe we can get a glimpse into a "what I eat in a day" video in the future? ;D (btw you should totes look into Arctic Zero and Halo Top ice creams, Arctic Zero is lactose free and I have a pint of Halo Top that is 280 calories for the whole thing!)
I love how fucking real this is!! Weight loss is hard and takes a mind set here I am after baby #4 struggling to lose and I’m thinking no one is understanding me ...then I watched this. Thank you for being so straight forward.
Candace I think this video is the motivational push that I needed. The past couple weeks I've been telling myself that I'm going to start eating healthier and working out but I kept putting it off. This video really motivated me, thank you Candace☺️💖
Thank you. Thank you for being honest. It is true we can't restrict ourselves from things we love. And u opened my eyes about that. Keep going girl! Im so proud of you!!:)
I completely get this. I went from uni straight into work at a desk and "didn't have the energy" to focus on my health and fitness. 2 years later and 2 dress sizes bigger I've realised it's time to return focus to me. This really hit the nail on the head, thank you so much! 😊
I've listened to personal trainers speak about weight loss, and none of them are as emphatic or helpful as you are. This is "real person" stuff, here. Thank you!
Really proud of you. I just had our 6th kid and am back to balancing boob feeding and proper foods for a good healthy weight loss like after every baby. 35 pounds until I'm back to 130 lbs again and your motivational self popping up on my UA-cam this morning was definitely a nice push. Congratulations!
Love ya, Candace! Lost 20-ish pounds the latter half of 2016 through diet and exercise and by gaining a LOT of new health info but I feel like the weight coming back w/ my now awful "broke college student" diet. Need to do what's best and not end up back where I started. Thanks for the motivation.
i usually never leave comments on videos but thank you so much for this video, candace. Ive watched so many fitness and weight loss videos at this point, but yours stood out to me because youre so down to earth and real and body positive. i felt like i was talking with the older sister i never had. i love your personality, youve inspired me to restart this weight loss and fitness journey with a healthier mindset. thank you
the reason why i like this more than other fitness videos is that you seem like a normal average person and not some super human on a fitness rampage , your relatable
15 years ago I was at 310 pounds. I'm 120 pounds now and maintained that weight loss all those years. It's hard!

Can you do a "what I eat in a day" video please? Love you Candace!!
Yaasss girl. The biggest problem with me is I don't know what healthy eating is. I'll go do my cardio then think 'oh a salad' but I end up eating junk because I'm so hungry after

Gratitude Ranch this is so inspirational!! Just a question: how did you find out if you actually were allergic to cane sugar and grains?
You should also post what you eat in a day!

Hitting you up with some questions :)
1) what you eat in a day would be pretty sweet!
2) finding out what you wanna do as an adult - jobs etc.
3) bad with money - living on your own salary and still affording stuff
4) any adult realizations? Like expectations/reality?
Overall I am really happy to see you, looking forward to seeing you more!!!

I literally love you, thank you for being one of the rare honest people. So many people are getting sucked into those "quick easy fix" trends and it's giving people a lot of false hope. You're fricking awesome
I'm glad to see you start a channel! I love you😘
I love how honest and real you are! It's honestly so great to watch someone who doesn't sugar coat everything.

ccap3211 yeah but I think she's talking more about the processed foods and stuff like that because you're right those foods are really good for you!
I'm binge watching 'how I lost X pounds' videos right now & yours is by far the best! You make so much sense, without all the bs.
Thank you
I love how open and honest you are, glad I found your channel and to say you collab with Saf and others! very excited to see more content!
Just subscribed bc you're so real and I really appreciate that in a person
Also being a high school student who has to take care of her mom who has dementia, I appreciate that you recognize that there isn't only one way to be healthy. Like yes working out for an hour a day is what I should do and some days that happens (at least twice a week), but other days it's just drinking more water or not having ice cream
Girl you are SO motivating! Finally a real, raw youtuber. Bout damn time!! I am on the health, happiness and change of lifestyle journey right now and it is truly the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. I am also so proud of you and your progress!! That it AMAZING!
i lost 10 pounds in 2 months but i think i'm going to gain most of it back today as it is valentines day and i can't help myself
One small treat a day. A small bit of whatever you want. That mentality will change your life, I promise!
Candace, you and Saf were always my favorite on he buzzfeed crew! I'm so freakin happy you have your own channel now!!
BelaayyasMusic thank you for sharing your story with me! I'm definitely gonna share my plan for moral support LOL
Yo go gurlllll💕✨
you know what this makes me so happy! i feel ya girl on the same fluffy path here and regularly having breakdowns on the kitchen and bathroom floor all the time while also stuffing myself with chocolate and ice cream. i legit get the fact its just not about looking good in that dress or not having to suck in air while youre sitting down, at the end of the day i feel so depressed when im eating junk all the time it makes me feel so sadim inspired to make changes and thanks for the tips!!
also on a side note please oh please dont change into those uppity youtubers who just really portray unrealistic stuff and promote stuff on their channels iv had enough of those! good day!
How my gosh your like the teacher l never had😂
"a kitchen floor moment" basically describes my entire life so far
I love love love how genuine you are. Thanks for making content that's positive, relatable and realistic. Good luck with your channel, I'm already a big fan! :)
This helps so much thank you. I started my lifestyle change on November 2016. I am 5'3 and I was 190lbs, but now 150.9lbs :) I still have another 20-30 pounds to go, but I know I can do it! I have been having a very hard time with the emotional aspects of weight loss recently though and this video helps remind me that the pay off in the end will be worth all the sweat and tears. Thanks again :D
Great job! I know you can do it!
Dani Q This is amazing!!! I must know how you did it because I'm in the same boat!
Charlotte D
Thank you! I actually lost another 10lbs since posting that comment :) Hard work really does pay off!
ATimelessLove
Thank you so much!
Dani Q Thanks! That was really thorough!
this has been by far, one of thee most real-est videos I have seen. it's sunk in more info that a video telling me to chug down a million shakes and bowls full of veggies.
Love-this. Shout out to the shoe in the back 👠
Kitchen floor moment- Trisha Paytas
KatieandBella Lmfaoo i was thinking that
Thank you Candice, for preaching implementing a genuinely healthy lifestyle in relation to weight lost. These messages should be empowering people, not simply how to get "skinny." Lots of love xx
Candace is so relatable
this is by far the best advice ever. I am going to watch this over and over again for motivation
Girl wtf I was like tf at your before pic you were fine
Yeah but it's just a matter of how she feels mentally, in moderation of course 😊
*watches this while eating ice cream*
or while eating sweets. me lol
But just a suggestion, do with it what you will :) I'll still watch them videos regardless
Maybe we can get a glimpse into a "what I eat in a day" video in the future? ;D (btw you should totes look into Arctic Zero and Halo Top ice creams, Arctic Zero is lactose free and I have a pint of Halo Top that is 280 calories for the whole thing!)
I actually like it more this way, it's feels more real for some reason, but I get your point
.
Candace is keeping it real. Those shoes strewn in the background are perfection. I love all of this! (Candace you're awesome!)
a nice marbilization!! 😂 you sound like a brisket!
I love how fucking real this is!! Weight loss is hard and takes a mind set here I am after baby #4 struggling to lose and I’m thinking no one is understanding me ...then I watched this. Thank you for being so straight forward.
Your eyelashes give me life!!!!!!!
Candace I think this video is the motivational push that I needed. The past couple weeks I've been telling myself that I'm going to start eating healthier and working out but I kept putting it off. This video really motivated me, thank you Candace☺️💖
💙💙💙💙💙💙
Can't wait for more videos!
Thank you. Thank you for being honest. It is true we can't restrict ourselves from things we love. And u opened my eyes about that. Keep going girl! Im so proud of you!!:)
"I ate a grain of rice and i'm satisfied" 😂😂😂😂😂
Holy hell GIRL- I needed this so badly right now. Stoked for you, and will absolutely be replaying this vid to give me the pep talks I'll need 💓👏🏻
You should post more fitness stuff!
I completely get this. I went from uni straight into work at a desk and "didn't have the energy" to focus on my health and fitness. 2 years later and 2 dress sizes bigger I've realised it's time to return focus to me. This really hit the nail on the head, thank you so much! 😊
I would love to hear what you eat in a day plus any food planning tips.
I've listened to personal trainers speak about weight loss, and none of them are as emphatic or helpful as you are. This is "real person" stuff, here. Thank you!
Ayyyyeeeee Candace
Really proud of you. I just had our 6th kid and am back to balancing boob feeding and proper foods for a good healthy weight loss like after every baby. 35 pounds until I'm back to 130 lbs again and your motivational self popping up on my UA-cam this morning was definitely a nice push. Congratulations!
"I wasn't fat I was nice and fluffy."😂😂😂😂
Love ya, Candace! Lost 20-ish pounds the latter half of 2016 through diet and exercise and by gaining a LOT of new health info but I feel like the weight coming back w/ my now awful "broke college student" diet. Need to do what's best and not end up back where I started. Thanks for the motivation.
“I probably had a good marbleization” Lmao 😂
Thank you for being a real person!!! I'm at a low point with my weight and this really changed the way I'm looking at my body right now, thank you!!!
"I see a lot of UA-camrs sitting on the kitchen floor, my heart goes out to you, I don't know what your problem is"
this is so amazing and i totally know how you feel, i lost 60 pounds and when i reached my goal it's like the best feeling ever YOU GO GIRL
I'll be honest. I feel like you me Freddie and safiya should go for a burrito.
i usually never leave comments on videos but thank you so much for this video, candace. Ive watched so many fitness and weight loss videos at this point, but yours stood out to me because youre so down to earth and real and body positive. i felt like i was talking with the older sister i never had. i love your personality, youve inspired me to restart this weight loss and fitness journey with a healthier mindset. thank you
Ilysm
the reason why i like this more than other fitness videos is that you seem like a normal average person and not some super human on a fitness rampage , your relatable
hello Candace!
