That's a good question. I believe unification comed at the some point: peninsula was never never seperated before 1940's. DMZ is totally artificial. However, when unification happens, difficult to say. But when it happens iit will change everything in East Asia and cost A LOT! 😵
I would think that rather than reunification, North Korea might be persuaded to open up to the world more, and slide towards western capitalism like Russia.

Reunification would devastate the success of what was South Korea. The south would be supporting an entire welfare region, whose inhabitants would see them as enemies for generations. The inherent resentments that would foster make it difficult to imagine.

In our western standards 1st leader's, Kim Il Sung's, parents were not rich BUT! in Korean standards they were not poor family (unlike local propaganda potraits nowadays). Kim Il Sung's father was a teacher and a phycisian. Teacher was and still is extremely highly respected work accross Korea. Work which was open only to very few. Propaganda potraits Kim Il Sung's and background as poor but it is not true.
The North Korean line is legitimated by divine descent from Mt. Paektu. Its really an absolute monarchy disguised in republicsn trappings. Which has resulted in the adoption of the values of hierarchy, obedience and elitism. Once communist ideals have been eliminated as incompatible with Korean culture. To call the country the hermit kingdom is both apt and an understatement at the same time. North Korea is one of the last surviving holdouts of the Cold War.

I’m someone who hasn’t read a bible in over a decade and a half but how horrible that his people are so unbelievably oppressed, starving and downtrodden and are forbidden to find peace in the Christian bible.
