This shows that the government knows. If a Polish company forced workers to work 10 hours 7 days a week, there would be a scandal in no time.
Yet the Koreans work like that and no labour control stops them.

The irony that British employees prefer polish workers because they work hard and reliable,.I can attest to that ,my polish colleagues just get the job done not moaning and whingeing.

British construction companies also like the Polish because they work for less and the wages down for us who have mortgages and live here all our lives instead of sending everything they earn out the country.

@@confusedbadger6275 They cannot pay less than the NMW in UK but if you mean Agency workers you have weak Trade Unionism to blame for allowing that to creep in. As for "sending everything they earn out the country", as it's their earnings they can spend it wherever they wish. The NK workers in the documentary don't have that choice as they see nothing of their earnings and cannot challenge it.

They need to do a better job blurring the people being interviewed's faces. You can pick up on several characteristics that could nail that person down, especially if they know the city. If there's only 500 people, it's only a matter of time before they can match those attributes to a handful of workers and narrow it down from there, or just punish them all just to be safe.

Agreed. Watching this made me very nervous. They could, and often do, easily punish people just for a suspicion. The worker may claim, for instance, that they didn't reveal anything and refused to talk, but they'll punish them (and likely their families) anyway 'just in case'

Like the North Korean said himself, they will break all their joints and then kill them. There is no reason to think that did not actually happen as the documentary filmers exposed several identities unless they used actors. For example the close up shot of his ear, unique pattern not blurred at all. How stupid are the one who where supposed to protect the informants identity? Punishment also apply to 3 generations, their whole family will be in concentration camps because of the filmers carelessness.

Imagine for one moment, you're a small, highly developed nation, in Europe, few million people. Liberal, open society, working judicial system, all that. You look east, China and India have more than a billion inhabitants. China is a totalitarian state, and India runs a caste system, both runs completely counter to our values. South east Asia, Middle east, and then south to Africa, they have hundreds of millions of citizens. Russia, China are corrupt af, dysfunctional judicial system, the Phillipines executes drug dealers without trial, Africa is one ethnic war after the other and not much else, they have zero governance, totally corrupt. Middle East and some Islamic countries preach a holy war, openly, against the west. They prosecute homosexuals. Governance is abysmal. Education is mostly low, no significant infrastructure apart from what the west financed. And nearly every country in between is no better. Most states are dictatorships or oligsrchies, almost none are democratic. Here and there is a shining star, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, a few states/cities here and there that do ok to well, that's it. South America is a humanitarian catastrophe. And everyone thinks you owe them reparations or whatnot because colonialism. Also, many of them develop nuclear weapons.
If you look at the world from Europe (460m people), you all are a problem of some sort. All 6.5 billion of you. There is no one you can consciously do business with. Some are worse than others, but essentially, you all are trouble. Get it? From our perspective, this entire planet is hostile, even incl. US. And let's face it, the world without the west would be a tragedy, even more so than it already is. That's why people flee here, and not there. All you need to know. Or have you heard of people fleeing to North Korea?

I worked on a farm in vic Australia with Cambodian workers. They worked for one Bloke who would send the workers to the farm. All the hours were tallied up the Bloke who brings the workers gets paid all they're money then he pays them. Its a scam they should get their wages not some wanker who sends them out to work then he collects the pay for them. But thats Victoria 2015-16 i bet its still going on now.

Ok I don’t think Elon Musk is as bad as Amazon but I’m starting to hear a few stories now of the amount of work expected by employees with unimaginable deadlines to meet etc etc…. One thing that really bothers me are unrealistic deadlines!! Jobs that should usually take 2years being forced to be completed in 8-12mths it’s all greed it’s all about $$$

Imagine that most of these workers think they still work to provide for their families who do not exist anymore because they already died of hunger. And I canˇt imagine what would the workers do if they ever find out.

All dictators including the African and Caribbean/South American ones are slaveholders. All try to cover up the slavery by keeping the people very poor and their inner circle very rich. Then they allow their slaves to sign up for jobs overseas to "make money". Money however goes to their dictator's luxurious lifestyle.
      Examples from the news:
Countless young African men have ended up in Russia to go to university with their own dictator governments paying them a monthly allowance. Then after a couple of months the allowance disappears. Either no one hires them or they are setup with drugs and jailed. For those who remain jobless, they are told to enlist in RU's frontlines in Ukraine. Those who are on their way to jail or already there are given the opportunity to be pardoned by enlisting.
Cuban dictator allowed a Russian "Employment Agency" to recruit young males to work in construction in RU. They ended up on the frontlines of the war instead. The few that realized in Russia before being transported there that they were next, quickly made a short video of their experience and uploaded it. The ones already on the frontlines were reported dead already.
China sent slaves to work in Russia who were fed dog food. (Yes, you read that right).

In Denmark a couple construction companies tried to use basically Polish slaves - people working for pennies under very poor conditions. The construction sites were shut down by the authorities and the companies were given an ultimatum: pay everyone a proper wage and give them proper working conditions, or lose your business license. Unfortunately there are many countries around us, like the UK, Poland, and Russia especially, who couldn't care less how workers are treated and lets this blatant slavery continue
