The speed of rooting out is slow because the size of vessel you’re using. I have found the best results with a tiny dessert cup, like a big shot glass size. It was a game changer. It hits walls fast, feels secure, and push a vine quickly. The bigger the vessel, the slower in my experiments. You have a beautiful collection.

When you take cuttings and you have a vine don’t toss that vine. If it has a nod you can put the nod with stem part sticking out into water or soil to root. It takes longer but it does work. I cut each stem part with a nod a root them in soil and place in baggie
Aww thank you. It’s still a baby collection but hopefully they’re grow well and fill out soon 🪴I got my nails 💅 done at a salon and chose a colour. Not sure what the name is, sorry 😅
Hi Stephanie. I love all your Hoyas and you really look passionate about growing them. I have: Obovata, walliniana variegated, Australis Lisa I do not have any silver leaved Hoyas yet and I am keeping my 👀 for the coreacea and Nova or Grey ghost. I am also in the 👀 for latifolia snow queen as well as Obovata splash All my new Hoyas will be in PON my old big ones (6) are in soil and I am thinking on putting them in self watering pots which would reduce my anxiety when travelling. Some growers (Hakuna La planta), to encourage their plants to continue producing splashy leaves they cut out any new green leaves leaving only the splashy ones. It seems to work.
Hi!!’ Thank you!😆 Do you have any tips for me regarding the Walliniana variegated? It’s my second go at it 😅😅. Yes! I have definitely about heard some growers cutting off the green parts. Maybe if my plants were bigger. For now I want to let them to become established and also I’m experimenting to see if the splash would come back if I just keep them under high light. I’ve noticed that not all my Hoya do well in Pon and some really prefer chunky soilless potting mixes I’m probably doing something wrong. Happy growing! 🪴😊
Love that I found this video and can’t wait to watch your other videos. I love Hoyas and definitely have been going crazy collecting them. My Globulosa has long leaves so now I wonder if I have the other one you mentioned even though I bought it as a Globulosa 😅
What a beautiful presentation of your gorgeous hoyas❤!!! Your description of the H. freckles splash was hilarious: "Just so that he knows someone's got his back. He looks like the Mickey mouse." Love that and the pencil😂! I've got 8 Hoyas. Three older ones, one is HUGE, five babies and two ordered plus many more on my wish list... might need a bigger apartment 🙈. Beautiful video, you're very sympathetic, keep up the good work💪!
@@lucianstephYou're very welcome🤗! My biggest is the very common Hoya carnosa. I took a cutting two years ago from my grandmother's plant, which makes it special to me because her plant was over 40 years years old and it almost died. And since my grandma has been gone for years now, I wanted to save the plant. This year it started booming. I just repotted it and it just made me fall in love with slow growing Hoyas 😅. Also my Krimson queen grows very fast.
Hi Stephanie, thanks for sharing! Your Hoya carnosa Nova ghost, looks like a Grey Ghost. Miro from Bassie plants has an excellent short video on the difference between Nova Ghost & Grey Ghost.
I watched the video. I think I see what you mean. My plant was sold to from Gennas plants as a cutting from her Nova Ghost. So 🤷🏽♀️ if hers gets renamed, mine would too 😉 thanks for watching. 🪴
The Hoya bug bit me on my birthday month too! I got a super silver, a linearis, and a Louisa’s silver and I’ll I keep thinking about it a Mathilde and a variegated lacunosa
Several months ago I got a car hueschkeliana and they had it in a coir husk mix and it suddenly started dying and I lost half of it. So I put it in perilite under grow light and I’m hoping the few leaves on the stem I have left will take root. I’m think this probably had dry roots when I got it and it was a bad mix for starting it. I also got a Mathilde at the same time in the same mix and that one had limp leaves when I got it so I also put that one in perlite and that one rooted already.
Pon is a soil-alternative. It looks like small stones or gravel. It’s usually made up of pumice, lava rock and zeolites. Here’s a video of me using it for the first time: ua-cam.com/video/cstMEeBA7hw/v-deo.htmlsi=17zQf9LAHTMAWF27
Have you tried rooting in water? I noticed in the photos you use moss which I really enjoy for most plants but for Hoya I have great success in water. I start in regular water and as soon as there is even a tiny bit of root I switch to my fertilized water I use for all my semi-hydro. I only mention this because you mentioned that some Hoyas are tough to root and thankfully I haven’t had any issues with water 🤞 (knocks on wood) 😅
Excellent comment. Since this video I’ve started rooting into water and had much more success. For thinner stemmed Hoya I use perlite and that helps reduce rot . I’m learning as I go 😅 but thank you for looking out and sharing! 😊🪴
Hello Stephanie from Puerto Rico!! Yea, the hoya bug got me too! Lol! Just subscribed. I just started my English speaking channel and would appreciate your support! Thank you! 🪴🪴🪴
My obavata leaves look similar to yours. Ive been told by a few others they are just weird that way. (That one and the Kerii as well. I guess not all the leaves are shaped as expected )
Thanks for watching. The SD grows slowly for me so I think that could be why it’s not circulating as much as it could be. Hopefully prices will come down soon and you can enjoy it too. 😊🪴
Hello, I want to transfer my 21 hoyas to self-watering (wick based ) and I do not want to use pon but my own mixture that works for me in calatheas (coconut chips, pine bark, charcoal, perlite and small leca) is it similar to the mixture you use? Greetings from Peru 💚🇵🇪
Hi there! 👋🏽Welcome! Sounds like a great chunky mixture. Hoya love that. It may be a good idea to test a few plants in the mixture in self watering pots first. Maybe allow a few weeks to go by to see if your plants like it, then slowly transfer more plants over if all is well. I’ve made the mistake of transferring too many plants over at once and experienced mass casualties. 😅I’ll be taking it a bit slower in the future. Hope that helps. 🪴🤗
Great question. Not yet because I want to be completely sure that this system works before sharing it. Also I’ve noticed not all my plants like it so I’m looking for patterns to see which plants tolerate it and which ones don’t. Will share my observations at some point. Stay tuned 😉🪴

@luciansteph it pushed out 2 leaves but then I was afraid it will die so I propagated it and now it's started to push another leave after it dropped 2 others..a difficult one for sure. Maybe I should put it in terrarium or something I suspect it needs constant conditions in order for it to thrive
