    I never thought about Hoya before until about four months ago. I saw Hoya in a book and suddenly thought how beautiful they are. I now have for different Hoyas. They need repotting but I will only repot them when I’m certain about what I’m doing. Can’t wait for them to flower.

    A very interesting video! I loved listening to your experiences with each hoya. I find the NGG pretty sensitive to underwatering. Twice I let the pon dry out a bit too much (ok, maybe I didn’t water for 12 days 😅) and twice I got dry root rot. But on the up side, I find it reroots rapidly in water. I have it close to the grow light and it’s sunstressed the most beautiful purple. I just wanted to say that I have learned a great deal about my plants from your videos, so thanks!

    Miro, I’m not sure if you already have a coriacea silver but I just got one and I think it’s cheaper than how much it’s sold elsewhere. I got mine from Indonesia. I chanced upon a seller on Facebook who I understand went to a nursery or garden shop of some sort ni Indonesia and did a live selling online from there. I was able to get the coriacea silver, 4 nodes. It’s quite tall actually. The seller is from the Philippines and I am also from the Philippines.

    Hello Miro, I just watched your video again, because I just bought a Hoya New Guinea Ghost, it got cold damaged from the delayed postage and l lot two leaves, which definitely looked cold damaged. I decided to check the roots which had a bit of root rot, but mainly okay and I put it in my chunky soil mix, as it was in peat,perlite mix! I put it in my Hoya cabinet with good humidity and warm temperature’s. And as your Hoya, the leaves are dropping and they look healthy 🙁 and I’m only left with one leaf ! Wish me luck 😆

    Can't say enough about your videos, Miro. As always, it's very informative & fun to watch.
    Thank you so much for the info on all these beautiful hoyas. 👏
    I only have a Wilbur Graves & a Carnosa AH-074 Silver, and I'm hoping to add more silver hoyas in the future. I think I prefer silver hoyas than the variegated ones.
    I'm wondering if you would put the Waymanie Cloud Sky in this category? It's an incredibly interesting looking hoya and is very prehistoric, in my opinion.
    Take care Miro! 💕

      I much prefer waymanie 'Cloudy Sky'/from Kapuas, because the leaves can get full-silver (but sometimes there are still traces of green), but it is such an easy grower and early bloomer compared to carnosa. So, yes! :D

They're marvelous selections. On another hand, I would like to know if you always keep a bit of water in the cover pots for your hoyas grown in organic mix as we can do with Pon or semi-hydro. Thank you for your help 😉👍

    Love your Hoyas… I noticed you stated you’re a chronic underwaterer and that you have a lot of peduncles that won’t bloom for you.. try increasing your watering when you see them and you may have better luck with some beautiful blooms :). Thx for sharing.. I also learn a lot from you.

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  Рік тому

      Yes :D I do underwater them a lot :) When I see buds on the peduncles, they usually get more care and more water, something I learned long time ago. But some peduncles just don't bud up, and in those cases it is usually something else - they might need temperature change or shorter day length (like thomsonii). :)

My friend goes to dog exhibitions here and I sometimes go with her and I love when I see Weimaraners and Vizslas :D You can usually get this plant only as a cutting - I would recommend some Facebook groups. If you are in the US: Hoya Haven BST, Hoya Obsessed, Hoya Temptation FB buy/sell, to name a few :)

    Hey. Hi. Hello. I've made my Argentea Princess grow quickly with 90 to 100% humidity. I've had it about a month and a half and I've never directly watered it. It gets it's water from the humidity. It sits under purple light because i want to encourage new growth. It has one new full leaf since I've gotten it and it has 4 small ones coming. Hope this helps. I use this method for my Undulata and NGG as well. 💚🌿🌱

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  Рік тому

      I wing it but that won't get rid of them completely - maybe if you are really vigiilant. But it will knock a lot of them off, reducing the population so then it can be easier for predators or whatever treatment of choice.

    I only have "krohniana" silver. I used quotations because that is the name I purchased under, but you know lacunosa vs. krohniana. Wilber graves is climbing up my wish list because I think they are really pretty. I also wouldn't mind getting a silver dollar or nova ghost if the price was right.

  • @thpco1617

    Another great video, thank you! Just got an H. carnosa 'Nova Ghost' and I will follow the advice and keep in less light to try to keep the silver leaves... The question is: how much is ''too much/enough light''? And do you know if is the same for 'Wilbur Graves'? This one doesn't seem to follow a pattern... I have an H. carnosa AH74 and is living near to my south window (just get a bit of direct sun for short time) and so far is keeping quite silver.

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  2 роки тому

      That is a good question! I sadly don’t know the real answer. I noticed that 60-70cm from my 300W grow light dimmed to 25% is okay for my ‘Nova Ghost’ for now, but it is still small. I assume the bigger she gets, the lesser silver it will be. I haven’t found any pattern for Wilbur Graves, but I think AH074 can be a bit unstable when it comes to silver, one leaf can be almost full silver and the next one splashy. But it remains very beautiful :)

    I only have the silver Krohniana/ Lacunosa. I am a flower gal, I buy Hoyas for their flowers, not the leaves 👀
    Speaking of, I am currently very annoyed with my Carnosa. She started growing peduncle after peduncle, but they never mature. Also the old peduncles that used to flower constantly have stopped any and all activity. I am very frustrated 👀
    I did notice that with the regular Carnosa the splash gets quite intense if there is direct sun light exposure. The leaves that are not subject to direct sunlight have little to no splash. Same goes for the Caudata. I can easily tell which leaves were grown in winter versus summer, because during the winter there is no splash at all on the Caudata leaves.
