- Imhoteps Roy Kristensen met Immortals Abbath and Demonaz in Oslo, Autumn 2009, to talk about the new album and other topics. This part deals with the beginning, Sons Of Northern Darkness and the music industry.
ABBATH aka Olve Eikemo is the powerhouse and personifies the rebellion of rock`n Roll amongst other artist`s in Norway, by Immortal. Great performer,Great brutal Expression visually as well as musically. He`s the Expression of any Band he`s part of, takes over. master of disaster.

I'm glad they mentioned Venom. Venom doesn't seem to get enough cred. from the Black Metal fan base, even though the bands that created the second wave of Black Metal praise them. I've always felt there was something Venomesque about Immortal.

muy buena entrevista con immortal y sobre su nuevo cd muy parecido al anterior la verdad no hay mucho cambio en todo es muy parecido solo cambio un poco en lo musical y en lo lirico manejan el mismo concepto que en sus trabajos anteriores pero en muy bueno que esten de regreso hell!!!!!!

I'm thinking the 100.000 figure is for Norway alone. The best selling local artists in Norway sell between 1-200.000 copies in a good year, so I would think Immortal sold at least 100.000 copies of SOND here, between 2002 and 2009 when this interview was taped. I could be wrong though, but it seems like a very low figure if it's meant to be world wide.

Demonaz and Abbath are a double act, shame they split up...
Demonaz himself has basically said it's nothing personal and they had to do what was best for the band, and I believe in one interview at least Abbath basically said "maybe someday I will go back", so I wouldn't rule it out. Abbath has some serious alcohol issues to sort out, went behind the band's back to claim the name, but Demonaz still has complimentary things to say about his solo album and acknowledges everything he did for Immortal over the years. We can still hope, but Demonaz is actually doing a great job as a vocalist, his style is more like Abbath's on Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, and it's good to have him back on guitar duties finally.

I know Demonaz actually has very kind things to say about Abbath's solo album, but I would hardly call it "the best metal album that came out that year" as he put it
