What Happened to The Fall Guy (1981-86)?

- Опубліковано 21 кві 2024
- The summer is starting off with a bang next week with the release of The Fall Guy, a big-budget action flick starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. However, some folks may not realize that it's actually a remake of a classic TV show from the eighties starring Lee Majors as stuntman/bounty hunter Colt Seavers. Seavers was a stunt-man by day, who supplemented his income tracking down bad guys, and the show was almost as big of a hit as Majors' previous hit, The Six Million Dollar Man. In this episode, we dig into how The Fall Guy came to be, how gorgeous co-star Heather Thomas became one of the biggest pin-ups of the decade, and how the new movie pays tribute to the show's lasting legacy.

The Fall Guy Is A Great Show
Thanks Joblo for This video
You Guys Are Awesome
12:45 Percy Rodrigues didn't voice those trailers, that was Don LaFontaine's voice.
I hope the Fall Guy movie won't suck. Most likely it will but I can hope. Why can't Hollywood create anything new and have to pillage beloved existing IP? Sorry, I forgot that writers these days suck.
"I might fall from a tall building, I might roll a brand new car. Cause I'm the unknown stuntman that made Redford such a star!" 😊
It's a GREAT song!
@@JoBloOriginalsThis song should be a meme now to associate people with that song from The Fall Guy as a meme just please post an Alternate Version of that song of what person or thing should be parody also Great Song.
My absolute favorite show as a kid and i would sing the theme song all the time while putting my small body in danger jumping off the roof and other chaos!
Oh it’s “Redford such a star.” God I’ve been getting that wrong all this time.
@@icarusandtherabbitI could never work out the last line, although I was only 5-6 years old at the time
Just like when this show aired back in the 80's, I'm here for one thing, and one thing only: Heather Thomas.
Her & Markie post. B4 m.p. left to do night court
@@TheMick126 Markie Post....
She brought so much to night court.
There’s an episode where you get both Markie and Heather in bikinis. If the internet had existed for the public back then it surely would have been broken.
@@Skoora That was a nice episode. But only if you are a shallow man.
I admit i was VERY shallow back then. ^-^
It was nice.
We went crazy over her but now I see all the women on the show were smokin
Switzerland here. Born in 1972, this serie was a big part of my youth as I was allowed to watch this after school. We jumped of parc benches and trees and made ramps for our bycicles to perform stunts like Colt. Later Jody became my real first crush 🥰 The intro still catapults me back to this happy time ❤
At one time every kid with a bike made, and crashed on a ramp!! 😂😂
US also born in 72. I recall flipping randomly through posters at a store. I came across this poster of Heather Thomas in a pink bikini. Prior to that moment I had never felt any sexual attraction to anyone. Being 11 or so that pretty typical but that one poster on a random evening I will always remember that coquettish woman in a pink bikini that kick started puberty in an 11 year old me. By reading these comments it looks like I was far from alone in this.
@@Snipergoat1 Yes, its very nice to read the similar comments 👍❤️
And flipping through posters was an activity I enjoyed as well while waiting till my mother had finished the shopping 😂👍
Agreed, agreed and AGREED!! Everyone in the family knew when The Fall Guy came on the tv, it was MY tv time and not to interrupt or risk death!! LOL
Kids today well never understand how good 80's tv truly was. The Fall Guy, Knight Rider, Street Hawk, A-Team, Air Wolf and Auto Man were favourites when i was a kid.
I agree!...
Generation x'er here.. 70's baby, 80's kid, 90's teen and 2000's adult. I watched Fall Guy, along with the many tv shows of the same era, and Lee Majors was one of my favorite action stars.
I loved the theme song and snickered at the lyrics. while i was very young, i didn't care for girls in the way men did, but i liked the blonde girl, but in an "innocent way," a 10 year old boy would. "she's cool!"
I was a just a kid but I had a crush on Heather Thomas!
Yes I had that Heather Thomas poster. 😁
I bet it could tell a few stories
Me too.
52 years old and I loved this show and, yes, i had the Heather Thomas poster. Also loved her in Zapped!
😆👍
So did I.
"And Lee, you've been a real good boy this year." - Santa
I'll never forget those poor Reindeer....did they have to die that night?
I loved this show as a kid.
You aren't alone.
Stunt people absolutely should have a category in the Academy Awards. They risk their bodies and lives to bring some of the most memorable scenes. Thanks for all the entertainment.
I would like to see a short awards show all for stunt men.
I still have my original hotwheels of both this truck and the general lee. God the toys were awesome back in the 80's
So very true 😂
Truth! 😎
Me too but they were both made by Ertl toys not Hotwheels Brotha. 😊
as a child of the 80s, there was a constant comparison of Heather Locklear vs Heather Thomas. there was no debate for me. thomas all day, every day.
Ditto - Thomas all the way.
Preach on brother. She still looks great today too....where as Locklear does not.
Not going to start a debate either. You are correct
Farrah Fawcett🔥
I hit 14 around the time The Fall Guy started in 1981. Thomas was insanely hot. There was an episode i think about 84 or 85 where she wore
the famous pink swim suit of her iconic poster, and she was even hotter in live action. Good times.
Man, I wish I still had my Fall Guy lunchbox.
I have all the episodes of “The Fall Guy” on DVD. But I just fast forward to all the Heather Thomas parts. lol
😍💕🤪
There should be a drinking game for whenever Howie would say, "I once took a class in...". Man, we'd all be hammered! Great vid, bro!
I still love that intro song to this show also I like Lee Majors performance in the television series Tour of Duty.
Agreed, perfect casting.
The western TV series Lee Majors started was "The Big Valley" which ran for 4 years and is still popular today. One episode (Happy Trails) had Roy Rogers and some other classic TV western stars...great stuff.
Sadly, stuntman A.J. Bakunas died in a 300 foot fall during the production of Lee Majors' film 'Steel' in 1979. The airbag split upon landing. It was filmed at Kincaid Towers in Lexington, Kentucky, then under construction, near his old college town of Richmond, KY (Eastern Kentucky University). Bakunas jumped from the 22nd storey. The movie is on UA-cam, Bakunas has a Wikipedia page, and you can Google articles about the incident.
Lee Majors could do a puppet show for me and I'd be happy. he is my childhood bromance, I mean what 70s era kid didn't wanna be steve austin? and he just always seems like a good guy, no fuss no muss cool guy. its gonna be a sad day for me when we get that dreaded headline. Lee is a class act all the way around.
Awesome Show 👍
Every guy had the Heather Thomas poster on there Wall 😆😁
I had a Heather Locklear one, too! I liked "TJ Hooker."
@@seanswinton6242 👍

LOL That toupee never got a dent.
I loved that show. I loved Heather Thomas. I loved the theme song.
I still walk through the corridors of work singing The Fall Guy theme tune. Getting all the words wrong. Yeah, I’m GenX 😊
Now I have to go listen to the theme tune!
0:10 I was nicknamed Bear from BJ and the Bear, by an old man who lived on my granddaddy's farm and taught me how to work on small engines, vehicles, and other DIY stuffs. I was like his tagalong, like Bear or Clyde in Clint Eastwood movies.
I loved the show, of course as mentioned one big reason was Heather Thomas! I had her iconic poster ( along with a few others of hers). The show was an 80s staple and a big part of my childhood.
Action and Heather Thomas...Schwing!
Yes. Yes indeed :)
This was my childhood along with Knight Rider, The A-Team and Airwolf. Please cover Hunter and The Highwayman (Sam J Jones) 😊❤
I remember used to watch this back in the late 80s or early 90s, but couldn't tell you a thing about it now
Lee Majors did Six Million Dollar Man and Fall Guy, but I first saw him in Big Fat Liar
That was an adorable memory😍
I saw him in a show you never head of called Wapos Bay.
Last year, (October 2023) I introduced my son to “The Fall Guy”. We spent about two weeks watching youtube episodes and having fun at what Television used to be like.
What a great show, and I’m looking forward to the Movie release this month. (May 24)
Absolutely loved this show as a kid! I remember watching this while living in Bermuda and after moving to California. This video brought back so many memories. Thanks!
You guys gotta do a what happened to Street Hawk.

Heather Thomas; holy puberty, Batman…
Dude. She is a BABE.
@@JoBloOriginalsAnd a FOX 🦊
JOBLO the word of calling a woman a FOX was a thing back in the 70s and 80s so it's kind of smart of me for calling her a FOX because it's actually what you call a woman back in the day a FOX there is a movie called FOXES from 1980 and it's star Jodie Foster you guys should do a Revisited video on this film it's a film no one never heard of you should check it out.
Heather Thomas is a Fox in this show

I loved "The Fall Guy." It came out when I was in my "I Want to be a Stunt Man" phase from the ages of 12-15. I'd stage fights to the chagrin of principals, and also got in trouble for flipping up to the awning then jumping down! Lee Major did get his start in Hollywood as a stunt man! And yes, I had the Heather Thomas Poster (in a bikini). Another good one related to it was "Hooper," which starred Burt Reynolds and the Greatest Stuntman. He, too, was a country music lover, and he also got started in Hollywood as a stuntman, along with director Hal Needham. The movie was their homage to the stuntman culture. Thanks for the video!
_Jan Micheal Vincent_ R.I.P.
Wrong “trailer guy” voice clip inserted….that’s Don LaFontaine’s voice.
Great video though! Always loved The Fall Guy and I’m pumped for the film!
I was gonna say...
Thank you! I was very confused.
Yes I had all those toy vehicles from all those shows that were mentioned & of course the Heather Thomas poster was on my wall...great show one of my favorites to this day.
"I've been seen with Farrah!"
That was my favorite part. They were married for a time.
12:45 Percy Rodrigues didn't voice those trailers, that was Don LaFontaine's voice.
Yes, I was going to write the same thing. Percy Rodrigues did the trailer for JAWS. And was the voice of the Loch-Nar in HEAVY METAL. Also: the trailer for PHANTASM.
Now see, as a kid when this came out....LOL Markie Post was my crush. :)
"I might jump from an open draw bridge or tarzan from a vine because I'm the unknown stuntman that made Eastwood look so fine." That lyric had me puzzled for years. Great show!
I LOVED The Fall Guy as a kid! I think it's part of the reason I adore stuntmen and stunts so much! ♥️ 🇺🇲
As a kid, I had no idea what a bail jumper was.. or what a bail was.. but I loved it anyway
thank you for this. respect. liked and sub'd
Man, I loved this show.
I think the 'Good 'ole boy' phenomena of shows listed at the start was more of a 70's thing which happened to carry over to the 80's. Burt Reynolds kicked off 80's as the biggest movie star of the time, but by about '84 his career was tanking fast.
I still have song of Lee Majors from this great TV series of my childhood:)
The Fall Guy movie trailer looks like it captured what made the TV show fun.
Great assessment great show however, you forgot one thing to mention the movie Hooper, which was the catalyst and or introduction to the show and equally great. You may want to do an episode on that.
Just started watching this again. Have not seen it since I was 12.
I loved this show ❤️
I had an idea of what a stuntman did but never knew what a bounty hunter was so I always thought Colt was a secret agent 😅 I was a dumb kid.
Indeed Colt's truck is up there with the other icons and also, I didn't realise until now that a lot vehicles in 1980s TV shows were quasi co-stars too! If you haven't already, you should do _Hardcastle & McCormick_ next
Colt was a secret agent back in the 70s under the name Steve Austin. Working for osi.
There is at least one UA-cam channel (called Colt Seavers) where Fall Guy episodes can be viewed.
Absolutely loved the Fall guy as a kid and still have a fondness for it. And yes I did have the GMC pickup.😊
loved this as a kid.
I was one of the teenagers with the poster of Heather Thomas of my wall for a few years ❤❤. Just stunning but also a really great smile and a twinkle in those amazing eyes.
Markie Post ❤❤❤
All day all night
My cousin had the toy pickup from Fall Guy.
It was such a great series with such a great cast!
One of my clients was a stuntman on the show. He's told me stories, crazy balls of steel stuff! 😆
I've loved The Fall Guy since the 80's. It's still one of my all time favorite TV shows. I just wish the entire series was available on DVD.
Heather Thomas sashaying through those saloon doors in a bikini has lived in my head rent free since I was a teenager. And there are photo outtakes of her famous poster all over the internet. ❤
I remember in my youth Wednesday night was “The Greatest American Hero “ at 8pm “The Fall Guy” at 9pm & “Dynasty” at 10pm 🫠
as a kid, i wanted to grow up to be colt seavers.
Who didn't!
Yep, I had the toy truck, and can still hum the theme tune.
I really enjoyed the video. Loved "The Fall Guy" as a kid. Can't wait to see the big screen version coming out next week. BTW, at 14:27, that's not Johnny Lee. The actor shown is one of those character actors who kept popping up in tv shows in the 1970s and 1980s. I can't recall his name, but that's definitely not Johnny Lee.
Here's Johnny Lee...ua-cam.com/video/8mxIHL6d-RM/v-deo.html
I had some of those annuals!! God, I wonder where they are now, they're probably worth a fortune!!! I'm a hoarder though, so I'd probably keep them.
Thanks for bringing back some nostalgia from my childhood; times really were better back then, shame we never realised it at the time.
That Heather Locklear poster on the thumbnail kept me busy in my early teens!
I have the tv show on dvd and love it 🤠
Man. I wish I could have seen this as a kid. I was only 5 when it ended so I never even got a chance. I had Knight Rider, A-Team and the stuff of that era as a kid.
I would have loved the shit out of this.
Loved the intro song
I loved this show....Heather Thomas was almost more than my brain could handle as a kid. 😂
I'm 49 years old and still to this day will randomly sing this theme song♥️
Just saw the movie and loved it. Sang the song at the end
I'd like to see an Ecoboost take a jump like that K25
i used to love watching that show when it came on, once a week for 8 months, i wish those times would come back, no binging, just us kids sitting in front of the tv and having a great time, waiting for the commercials to go pee and grab some more food. Best time ever.
I used to love this show when I was little. Colt Severs.
Great show.
Have you ever seen the 80's fantasy series 'Robin of Sherwood', starring Michael Praed, Judi Trott and a young Ray Winstone? Its a treat on blu-ray.
@1:05 meanwhile you see the axle bend on impact 😅
Loved it as a kid, watchin it down here in Aus.
I loved this show as a kid!
I didn't watch it when was in 80's, but I did watch it in middle to late 90's on fx channel
"Duro na Queda" here in Brazil. We watched it with our dad. To be honest I would like not a remake, but a continuation, with Lee Majors playing an old Colt trying to convince an original character for Goslin that his old lifestyle is a cool choice.
I think the same actor that played him also played Geo. W. Bush. "Bush" has been identified as one, of the 9 men who were presented to the public as "Manson".
I was looking at the cast for the movie. I saw that Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays a character called Tom Ryder, but Google currently says he's Howie.
Love the Fall Guy series in the 80s, grew up on Six Million Dollar Man so I was all in for this show. Heather Thomas was a hottie
One of my favorite 80’s tv show! I’m still waiting for season 3 and rest of the seasons not available on prime Amazon. Plus why can they just release the fall guys complete series dvd? This is crazy and how long we have to wait?
I loved this show it was all types of fun, god I miss good shows like this
Loved The Fall Guy! We have all these retro channels on Streaming Services or whatever! But no one aires The Fall Guy WTF!
Good old shows 👍
I really enjoy these. Would love to see one on Quincy, M.E. if possible.
A brilliant 80’s Tv show 📺👏👏👏
Did anyone else have the Daisy Duke Jeep? I loved that thing too!
I always thought this show owed alot to the Burt Reynolds stuntman movie "Hooper ".
Loved that show
There is no Fall Guy without Heather Thomas.
The Fall Guy was just good old fun.
I was 11-16 when the show aired. In grade school I had the lunchbox and in high school I had her poster.
1:56 fun fact: Glen Larson also got his entertainment break in a similar manner, with The Four Preps “25 Miles (Santa Catalina)”
I remember this show as a kid.
Heather thomas and Olivia newton john My first crushes.I have good taste.
