This video is spot on. Thank you. I was iron deficient (without anemia) and my symptoms became severe. I couldn’t drive (couldn’t judge space), had fatigue, dizziness, migraines, shortness of breath, restless legs, brain fog, exercise intolerance… and more. 12 doctors and 3 emergency rooms couldn’t figure it out. I googled nonstop every day because I thought I was going to die. Doctors wanted to send me to a neurologist. I misdiagnosed myself a few times (I gave up on doctors) and finally came across “iron deficiency without anemia” by esa soppi, and the causes fit me like a glove. I had heavy periods, I was a vegetarian for 9 years, I was taking a PPI (low stomach acid- don’t get me started on this- PPI for GERD which was really low stomach acid). I got so much better about day 4 of taking 150mg of iron twice a day, and every month new symptoms would disappear that I didn’t even know was related. It was all so terrifying and I’m so thankful I figured it out. I don’t know how many women are out there who haven’t figured it out but it sure depresses me!

The fatigue, being very pale(I stay out of the sun too though), hair loss, very swollen ankles(I heard that can be part of iron deficiency), irritation, restless legs, eating ice for years, brittle nails, and I get ulcers in my mouth badly. My gosh, this man is a genius. I have to watch his other links on it!

Always take iron supplements at the different time than calcium supplements or food high on calcium. Calcium and iron compete for the same receptors in the body so, consuming calcium at the same time as an iron supplement can inhibit the absorption of the iron.
For iron absorption it's best to take iron with vitamin C to empty stomach or with food low on calcium and fibre.

And with copper. In 2 month of iron, c, and copper I went from 7.2 hemoglobin to 13.5. Doctors said iron doesn’t go up fast without infusions. I had one transfusion but my level had already gone from 7.2 to 9.2 before the transfusion. It’s likely that Mono caused my iron loss! But the doctors don’t really seem to know. It was until a hematologist ordered extensive blood work that the mono was discovered. They chalked up my symptoms to low iron. Doctors don’t know…

Didn't know about Ferritin at all, although I knew in the past (20 years ago) I had iron deficiency but never this bad. I'm not so bad affected as you are but the breathing issues and heart racing is the worst. Muscle ache and breast ache is much better, almost gone. Only the heart racing is still there if I don't rest... Did you had iron Infusions also or just against dehydration? If so which one? I had Venofer. First one was great after the second I had head ache and was naucisous. Hope my English is great enough and you can understand me 😊

As someone who has just fasted the whole month of Ramadan, I would definitely recommend fasting. I have anorexia that makes me anaemic and I struggle with having enough iron in my body. I usually get very dry chapped lips and skin around the face and edges of the nose. What I noticed when I was fasting is that my health went up. I stopped getting dry skin. My energy levels went up even though I found myself hungry of course and when I had a flu it didn't stop me at all compared to usual. Now that I have stopped fasting I watched this video to why I am getting dry skin and dry lips again and would you know the answer is clear

I fast, do Keto, drink no more than 1 cup of coffee a day, and also stay very active with running and skiing. I don’t have heavy periods anymore, so am baffled by my low iron levels. I eat red meat at least 3x weekly. One thing that wasn’t mentioned in the video is running or an abundance of exercise as a cause. My symptoms always pick up the more active I am and it’s very difficult to keep up with, with diet alone.

      Think about animal behavior...
Animals only use their body to find food and are only speeding up their body, to catch food. But will not exercise and run high speed after a gazelle just for fun. They try to safe energy and unintantional energy spilling.
But we humans train, and run just to stay fit and think it is healthy doing it
Some run every day, without noticing they are doing to much.
No animal wears itself out, if it is not for catching things to eat. They are trying to not deplete their body. Otherwise the body needs more energy and more food is needed to replenish the body.
      On the other hand...
We humans have easer access to food every day and eat constantly. But they eat crap, so that is not a good idea either.
And eating but not exercising at all, is bad too. You need to stay active physically. But do not overdo it.

I have been watching Doctor Berg's videos for some time, and I can confirm how important these topics are regarding inflammation and anemia. I was able to help a dear friend eho had a plethora of issues, she had: fibromyalgia, allergies to all sorts of things, bad anemia, no nail growth, muscle deterioration, and a variety of other inflammation related issues.
2 months later of one meal a day of nutrient dense foods, vitamins (vitamin d, and magnesium especially), lower stress surrounding, and light excercises she is now cured of her inflammation and autoimmune disease.
Dr. Berg is doing good work here and the information/tools he provides can be invaluable in a practical sense to living a better life.

Acne, day time sleepiness due apnea cuz the allergies, histamin intolerances etc.)
I was fully healthy under 12 years old.
Except missing iron, pale skin.(due low sun explosure) after that bit adhd symptoms due tiredness etc. Chronic fatigue & acne & allergies etc started and things got worst and worst.
Over the years one thing helped truly, and that’s fasting. If I would have been IF or fast sometimes while growing I probably would have been taller also, but its fine die 1,8m is good in my country.
Researching things up it got a lot better, but things that I was found amd thought they are the cause were only a symptoms of a bigger cause.
I do think that vaccination that I got about at 12 yrs old, the H1N1 one or something like that did cause more harm than positive effect. After birth we get like 8-12 vaccines until the age of 3 or smth.
I found out weeks ago that I had 3 toxic levels of heavy metals. Still looking for solutions that can solve it.
Found injection that removes heavy metals and us army uses it etc.

Low stomach acid should be NO.1 on the list....
    It is truly staggering that over 1 billion people worldwide have iron deficiency anaemia, myself included (although I am healing from it), but if you look at the diets of these 1 billion people and did a survey on where these people lived, I think you would find one of two scenarios;
-Firstly, those who have iron deficiency in sub- Saharan Africa are living in extreme poverty, with limited or no access to proper food, and are therefore chronically deficient in a LOT of nutrients, not just iron.
This is NOT their fault, of course. This problem is not caused by them, nor can it be fixed by them unfortunately.
    - Secondly, the second category of people are those in the developed world, in countries like America, UK, Australia who have an iron problem despite an excess of food consumption and nutrients in the diet. These people, including formerly myself, eat proper meals with enough nutrients and have low iron sometimes for years, yet are totally ignorant of its causes.
The causes of low iron is the diet, and specifically, an excess of SUGAR in the diet.
It is not lack of red meat or heavy periods. Yes, these certainly contribute to low iron, but they are not the sole cause.
That is why not every woman with a heavy period or every vegetarian is anaemic.
If you have had low iron for years, and live in the developed world with an abundance of nutrients and food, you really have to go back to your diet.
If you are eating too much sugar, your stomach levels will naturally be less acidic. You need a stable stomach acid level to break down the nutrients in your food, including iron.
The body naturally doesn't absorb much iron from the foods we eat anyway and that is normal. As women over the age of 18 years, we must eat 18mg of iron daily to absorb the measly 1.8mg that the body actually needs.
The body works hard to absorb any and all iron you are giving it, but it cannot function properly if you fill up with high sugar foods.
Secondly, the impact of stress also affects how iron is absorbed in the body. Stress also lowers stomach acid levels, which inhibits iron absorption.
So many people in Western society eat high sugar, processed diets AND have high stress levels, so knowing what you now know, is it any wonder that we contribute to the 1 billion plus people worldwide who are iron deficient?
This video is helpful, and does identify some contributing causes, but if you can't work out the root cause of the issue, sugar and stress, it doesn't really matter about the other contributing factors.
Also...I want to add that calcium blocks iron absorption. So if your diet is partial to calcium rich foods, like mine was, such as chocolate and cheese, you may want to cut back on these foods slightly and see how your iron levels improve and much better you truly feel.
Thank you and I hope this benefits someone.
Being anaemic is so debilitating and has caused me fatigue beyond what I can put into words. I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy.

  • @Mrthreadedtime
    @Mrthreadedtime 2 роки тому +9

Blood Pressure/Beta Blocker meds can also cause Anemia. Most cases are slight but some are severe. I went from Hemoglobin at 13 to 7.9 after 3 weeks of BP meds. I haven't done a test since my Endocrinologist cut it in half but I do feel much better....not great, but much much better.

It doesn’t matter how much iron a plant has when virtually nothing can be absorbed by humans and the little bit that gets absorbed must be converted and doesn’t saturate the bones which leads to anemia and brittle bones down the road

  • @sgtaneja

Anemias arise primarily from Vitamin B12 & Folate deficiency. You need bioactive B12 - Methylcobalamin and Folate 5MTHF. In addition to b12 & folate you need to bump up other iron absorption cofactor like Vitamin C & Copper, while reducing intake of molybdenum & zinc.
Additionally Vitamin B5 & B6 also participate in Heme synthesis.
It's not so much about increasing iron intake, but about promoting iron absorption.
Most fatigue is due to impaired RBC & DNA synthesis and the lack of fresh blood supply carrying oxygen to the tissues including brain.
Most inflammation is also due to DNA repair impairments in lymphocytes again caused by disruption in Folate cycle stemming from deficiencies in Folate & B12 as well as few minerals like Magnesium.
The liver also has stores of iron, but that can get impacted if you have fatty liver disease.
I am NOT a proponent of having Vitamin D indiscriminately for inflammation, because Vitamin D as a lipid soluble nutrient in high doses requires optimal bile flow (gall bladder) and enzymatic conversions (liver & kidneys) and other cofactor like lipase output from pancreas & many folks have issues with one or more of these.

@@dorisagape9768 The artificial bile salts do Not work the same way as human bile salts for several reasons.
      1. The bile Salt constitution is slightly different in Ox bile or TUDCA.

I am 72 years old. My doctor found that I was low in iron and B12. I was perplexed, because I eat very well. Did some research and discovered that iron rich plant sources become useless when eaten with coffee. Coffee inhibits iron absorption of plant sources. I was all set to give up having coffee (which I love). Then.. I learned that if one eats calves liver? Coffee will not effect the absorption of its kind of iron and B12. Sure enough. I began eating a good amount of calves liver with onions and veggies. Next blood test showed normal levels of iron and B12. Now eating liver every fourth day as a way of life. And... still enjoying my fresh ground coffee.

Dr. Berg my husband watches a lot of your videos to try and help guide me and him. over the past couple years since I’ve turned 40 I have started to feel all the symptoms you were saying although my labs always came up clear I haven’t had my labs done in the last couple years because of Covid so I recently this week went into the doctors and have my labs done told her how I was feeling and my ferrinton level came back under 30 which my husband immediately went to this video and we watched it and everything that’s a side effect that I’ve been having is what you were listing underneath this low iron immediately I started following what you said to do but in the meantime I still reach out to my doctor just curious of what they would say and of course they said that they were not worried and I turned around and told the nurse well I am worried because I am only 42 years old almost this week coming up and I shouldn’t be feeling like this I am full of energy usually love to exercise love to go outdoors. But my whole demeanor has diminished along with everything else side effect that you said happens so I told the nurse that I will go ahead and follow what I know I need to do for myself and she was shocked !
mind you have only been doing it for a couple days I already feel a little bit more better today and more energy I never take naps in the last couple months I fall asleep in the middle of the day not even knowing how I fell asleep I’m so fatigued. Any advice for me would be amazing besides this video and I watched a few of your other videos that branch off about vitamins and stuff to try and guide myself back to the right health so I can feel like myself once again and be able to function and live my life with energy !
hopefully lift this fogginess off my mind. I’m a fairly happy person and I’ve been so irritated lots of body pain restless legs hair thinning, very heavy menstrual’s you name it you’ve said it. Thank you so much that you’re on here thank God my husband found you❤️🙏

Dr.Berg I love your videos. I am so grateful for your work, and the information you keep pushing despite being confronted with 'cancel culture police' and those that are against freedom of information and democracy. I would like to ask you a question. I live in Canada, and see a doctor under a resident practice, I never see the overseeing doctor for the residents. I have anaemia and I have what they call IBS, among other symptoms like a low hemoglobin of 109 (done twice in 2 months). Among the symptoms I have, I get really really painful cramps in my low abdomen (so much so that I can't stand and it is shooting up from my rectum and in my intestinal tract)...of course, there are other symptoms. My doctor said that he is not concerned about my hemoglobin. However, I am. My symptoms have progressively worsened over time. I am not especially over weight and I do exercise (although I can't run as often as I was because my back is often sore from carrying all the waste in my bloated belly as well as my muscles hurt more and I am always fatigued, but I do walk a lot). I just wondered if I am overreacting or do I have legitimate reason to want to seek another medical professional opinion? I know that you can't really answer, but any information you could provide would greatly benefit me as I value your commitment to health and wellness, and I believe that you have a great NEED to actually WANT to help, as all doctors don't seek out answers when they should legitimately want to.

It started off with shortness of breath with me which turned into heartburn and chest tightness and palpitations. I took omeprazole which made things worse. I started having twitching under one of my eyes, head pressure and pressure behind my ears, sinus pressure and then blurry vision. I started taking B complex and felt so much better. In a week all symptoms were gone but still I have blurry vision certain days and my nerves in my head feel tight. I also started taking b12 1000mcg and Vitamin D and I am feeling better but not at my best. Yesterday I took a Tylenol for some sinus pain and I again started feeling the tingling in my arms and legs and today my vision is blurry again. I don’t understand this. Maybe I should start taking iron supplement and see what happens?

One of the common symptoms of anemia is also craving iron rich foods. Many people dislike certain foods like liver, dark greens, blood sausage/pudding/pancakes, lingon berries, cranberries etc. but they get huge cravings to them when they have anemia. Licking keys can also be a sign of anemia in kids and pets (as with adults). Liver is the best source of iron but humans and animals shouldn't eat it too often because it has high amounts of fat-soluble vitamin A.
For example my dog gets over 300% of his daily consumption of vitamin A from 100g of liver. If he wouldn't get vitamin A from other food sources I could give him liver every 3rd day but since he gets it smaller amounts from other foods I give him liver at most every 5th day. In Europe (same dog food is sold in USA and other countries too) new study found that 70% of dog's kibble and 94% of dog's wet food lacks essential vitamins the dog needs and I bet same goes with cat food. So I highly recommend to to add vitamin rich foods like meat, fish, organs, veggies and omega 3 fats to their diet.

Last point on chronic inflammation correlated with anemia: I have struggled with eczema since the age of 2, I have always been anemic. My eczema symptoms have subsided and now just occasional flare ups, but should I still stay away from taking iron pills and focus on Vit D+ fasting? Curious to know if anyone has similar symptoms.

Eczema especially in Asians is sometimes a allergy to fish... Not specifically fish, but the toxins in fish, Mercury, and poisons from water pollution.. Further, write a food diary to record your food intake.... You will see a pattern usually 2 to 3 days after the bad food....ayervedic Yogi masters regularly cure exzema... Investigate for yourself... Anemia is protein deficient.. Your immune system runs on protein, with out the protien your immune system has false alerts (inflammation).... Starvation for 3 days almost always is healthy for people.... The digestive system needs a rest sometimes

Been on iron tablets for 3 months and frustrated at the lack of progress. My mucous membranes are dry so badly, burning limbs and oxygen hunger where I feel like I've ran a marathon just walking around my heart just won't tolerate it, deeply anxious and upset and only a little improvement. I'm really forgetful short term memory, worst apathy. Felt like I was literally dying before and don't feel much better now. So fatigued, can't think clearly and distracted cant hold concentration. Muscle fatigue, rls, relentless depression & panic attacks and feelings something terrible going to happen for no reason. Did wonder if it was another condition causing this but the iron deficiency confirmed and hard to believe it could cause these symptoms. I thought it was a case of iron pills for 2 or 3 weeks and I've not gotten better quick.
Appetite is reduced and everything takes ages and slow going to eat nowadays.
Only foods I eat are starch so plain jacket potato with nothing on it every day, plain pasta with salt on it, frozen food such as frozen chocolate bars if I can tolerate the sugar 🤮 and coffee granules. I don't have normal appetite, forget I'm making food or holding it then forget to eat it im so distracted. So it's affecting my life. No initiative, ambition, drive or mental stamina. It's most upsetting being stuck like this.
Feel faint, dizzy, out of it and can't concentrate and blamed it on pots syndrome for 15 yrs these symptoms. Really not sure now

I had a friend who was treated unsuccessfully for anemia by a Naturopath and an MD over several years. Finally, she went to a doctor who knew something about Lyme Disease. Turns out she had a chronic case. Not always, but often the infection is Lyme Disease. And the far majority of medical doctors in USA and world wide too, they do not know and do not want to know how to treat it or anything about it. So they never test for Lyme. And the tests are lousy and when you really have it, it shows negative. If someone has inflammation and can’t get over anemia, they should consider Lyme. The doctor must be knowledgeable about Lyme. The doctor must be Lyme Literate or chances are, it will go unnoticed like most of the 2 million current chronic Lyme patients can attest to. These types of doctors gas-light the women Lyme patients because they have inadequate knowledge and don’t want these patients to make office visits. It’s a crime in my thinking, because it’s not the patients doing and the doctors are not getting education because they are not required to. What is wrong with the American Healthcare System that they don’t help us? We can’t even get help when in an emergency situation because of Lyme. They refuse to treat. And the media...they minimize this disease to their viewers giving viewers false information, when it is one of the worst diseases you can get! I hope this will help someone who is lost in healthcare and not getting real help.
