    What are your thoughts on the PARADOX OF PRODUCTIVITY?

    Or, as an old teacher once hammered me with, Discipline is your best friend. For me, productivity is the result of any number positive environmental elements. The absence of those bogs me down, but that's me. A worthwhile discussion, rock on!

    You're one of the most productive people I know 🙂 it's amazing. Something I admire for sure. Productivity is a balance as well.

    Interesting discussion Nellie. In considering productivity, I would say there are many facets to its definition and will vary for person to person. Clearing a backlog of emails or completing one task which generates a lot of satisfaction can equally be considered as being productive. I think mental health and well being is a good measure these days and for me being happy with what I am doing and what I achieve is also a good indicator of productivity

      So true. Productivity usually results in satisfaction, especially if we enjoy the work we're doing. Keeping the balance between productive time and down time is key for mental well being when it comes to work 🙏 thanks for watching!

    Productivity is quite a fascinating topic. I feel that productivity is not something which someone can teach you. It is something which each person must acquire for oneself. For example, a mentor can provide tips or a boss can provide orders on how to be productive, but the same aspects may not work with everyone. People may find they are more productive in the morning or at night. I even asked my friend a couple weeks ago about when she felt she was the most productive, and she gave me the response that it depends on the kind of task she is doing. It comes down to practice and finding that perfect rhythm on what makes you the most productive. Great video topic!

      Very true Scott - we can't really teach productivity yet it is something each of us can and should learn for themselves 🙏

    I believe that productivity brings a feeling of temporary satisfaction, not happiness. Happiness is a very abstract and difficult concept to explain. To me it is an internal state of mind which does not have much to do with external factors but rather with how we conduct ourselves. Are we authentic? Are we decent with others? Do we live our lives in accordance with our own values? Etc., etc.......

      I agree with you Danielle - happiness is a very abstract topic and very subjective. I believe that mental and physical health are definitly important to be happy yet not the only determining factors- like you mentioned authentism, love, community, values... all play a big part of happiness.

    I believe the purpose of life is to have fun. Fun in itself is defined by each person. For me it's hiking and photography, or considering the nature of the universe. For others it's sports or business. From that state of joy comes the flow of our spirit. When we are in spirit it is truly amazing what we can accomplish. I don't like the word productive as it brings to mind machines in a factory. Accomplished is better. I ask myself daily " Did you accomplish forward momentum?" As long as the answer is yes then the day was well spent. 🥂Thanks for making me think. 😁

    Very good and interesting! Just a small question, what could be a dificult task? Is one youtube video equals to one such task for you?

    Personally I think productivity and drive are very attractive qualities - as on the flip side - I literally can’t stand lazy people - it’s my pet hate! 😂 but there is definitely a line where chasing productivity becomes counter productive 😆 great video Nellie, lots of food for thought!

      Haha i know what you mean 😇 too much laziness and talking without doing drives me nuts... but towards the other extreme I know that too much drive, ambition and productivity can ge dangerous for your mental health. Thanks for watching Charlie, hope you're doing great! 😘

    I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately too. It definitely matters what we are doing to really be considered productive or not too. Sure I work hard and do a lot at work, but what I am doing is not necessarily productive in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes what we are paid to do is really the opposite of productive!

      Soo true!! You could argue that producitvy is only real when we do things we love. At least that's the only time when producitvy is positive and makes us happy... 🙏

    For me, productivity is a means to an end. The accomplishments may not make me happy, but the pay I receive for them can certainly aid in the pursuit of happiness.

    • @NellieWinter
      @NellieWinter  4 роки тому

      Interesting! So its not the productivity or end product that make you happy, but what you get for them in return. Is that always money or could the pay be intangible?

    • @M.Campbell
      @M.Campbell 4 роки тому

      @@NellieWinter Oh, it can be intangible and if I'm working for myself the productivity and end result can themselves make me happy. However, as a long time employee of large corporations that constantly beat the drum of productivity into the heads of their employees, for the benefit of the corporation, the word "productivity" is multi-faceted for me.
