You're going to love it! 10 days is my maximum with this pack but that's pretty much my maximum anyway ha ha! Thanks so much for the comment :-)

I have the Mariposa as well and Love it! It is much roomier than it looks and I love all big pockets on the outside. They definitely help. I've only carried 4 days of stuff in mine and I was at 45 lbs but I've dialed down some gear and I am planning on testing it out on the North Boundary Trail this summer. My goal is to have everything fit and be under 40lbs so watching this video gives me hope that it is possibly! Thanks for sharing.

How many days do you plan to be on the North Boundary? Would love to know your gear load out for this and what you’re planning to bring for food. I certainly felt I could do 10 days with his backpack in remote areas but of course that depends on the time of year, the expected weather (as best as you can tell) etc... I should clarify that when I say 10 days, I mean 10 days. I would be more comfortable with his backpack doing eight or nine days no I had an extra day of food and other supplies tucked in my pack for an emergency situation.

I aplreciate the after trip reviews of gear loadouts. It helps show your mindset at beginning of trip and how reality turned out to be. Excellent video and thanks for sharing.

Dude thanks for the video! I’m considering getting this bag for the JMT this summer and we’re hoping to go 10 days before resupply. Looks like it served you well!

You’re welcome. I think 10 days is doable but will depend on your load out. Especially food. I spend extra in dehydrated meals and energy bars, so that really helps with space and weight. Love this pack and will use it for all trips up to 10 days this summer.

I like what you've done with your gear loadout. I'm about halfway to UL. Even though I have a UL tent (silnylon), I'm wanting to go for a lighter Dyneema fiber trekking pole tent. And I still need a UL backpack, the lightest weight multiday pack that I have weighs in at 3.5 lbs for a 50-liter capacity.

Good to know. I have just transitioned from Osprey to Mariposa 60. Haven’t used it on longer trips yet but so far it’s been comfortable.

I really appreciate the video. Thinking of buying the Mariposa just for 2 day trips in and around New England (Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. With all this stuff you should give an estimate of the cost of everything in the bag. Some people think they can get a great deal on camping stuff for around $500 but in reality some tents cost more than that alone. Want people to realize their is a Hugh cost for going ultra lite. Thanks again

Great job on weight reduction Stuart! Thirty three pounds is very impressive! Your food at 1.2 pounds a day is much lighter than mine. I'm normally at 1.8 to 2 pounds a day.

I kept thinking there's gotta be a kitchen sink in there somewhere. More on the night relief (pee) bottle; who makes it and where can I get one? Saves having to go see a fella about a bird dog in the middle of the night;-) Good space saver over a sport drink bottle. The weight sounds great!

    • @HowestheHike

I do check it yes. No fuel of bear spray allowed, so those have to be picked up and left behind at the destination.

Thanks! The jacket was an on sale Arc'teryx, and the kilt is an oldie at this point - but I got it from ULA Equipment when I lived in the US. If you are in Canada, they likely ship up here. HIGHLY recommended

It does! Sternum strap broke but they sell

We used to use sea to summit dry bags but they're a bit heavy. I ordered custom dry bags from Hilltop Packs. If you Google them you'll see a wide assortment including ones where you can add your own images.

I love it. Could not believe how good I felt coming into camp after the day hiking. I still have my Osprey Xenith 88 and 105 expedition packs, but after packing an honest 10 day load-out for the Canadian Rockies, I feel pretty confident that it will be a perfect pack for all hikes up to about 9-10 days with no resupply. If I need to be out 10- 14 days, back to those I would go. Comfort wise, it felt almost as good as the Osprey packs and even has load lifters. Not always the case with this type of pack. HIGHLY recommended.
