- I am a fan of giving things new life! I rescued this Natuzzi leather couch off the curb. It was full of dog hair and scratches. I cleaned and disinfected it then began researching the best way to refinish it. I found this amazing product called rub n restore. (Not sponsored)
I began working on painting it after giving it a quick wipe down with alcohol and now it looks so amazing! I highly recommend this paint.
My favorite brush ( I use it to paint EVERYTHING)

I love the kitty inspection crew.
Hi Diana, fabulous job! Looks great. How many coating did you used and how much paint?? Also, do you feel any stickiness from the new paint? Thank you.
Quite the difference! Nice to know you can update leather this way since the color trends change about every ten years or so.
Hi Diana, any update a year later? Would you still recommend? Has the paint chipped any?
Has this held up for you ? Would you still recommend? Thank you so much for the video !:)
Nice results! This video is 8 months old and I was just wondering if you provide an update. Was there any cracking, peeling or dye transfer to cloths? Do you have any regrets? Thanks in advance :)
There has not been any transfer or cracking. But there are some areas what have faded a bit but it will be so easy to repaint again
Next video. Match cats and couch. Looks good
Omg I love this video so much lol 😻! My cat scratched my faux leather headboard and footboard so horribly! I want to paint it. I have been scared she’ll jump on the painted parts, but I see yours did with no problem 😸. It looks AMAZING! Well done!
That would totally be my three cats all up in my business too! It turned out gorgeous!!! That's the exact color I want to do my white couch. ❤😍 How is it holding up?
WOW!! I got a kitten last April. I have two aqua blue vinyl club chairs that are very special to me. I cover them both with a quilt so my kitten wouldn’t claw them.......he crawled up under the quilts and scratched both of them on the front top, back top and arms. I wanted to paint them, but didn’t know what to use. OMGOODNESS! You’re sofa looks amazing! You did a fabulous job! I can’t wait to try this. Thank you so much for sharing your project!
Wondering where you got the paint from and how much it was! This is exactly what I want to do!
I ordered from the rub n restore www.rubnrestore.com?aff=53
@@dianashouseofblue4178 how many bottles did it take
tywanna temple I used one 16 oz bottle
Thank you for this amazing video
I called the company and spoke to LaSandra, she was very helpful. I’m getting my swatches and I will definitely be buying the paint from them. You get a coupon code for a free swatch! Thank you again!
Did you do it did last. Mine didnot last
Did you use the consultation service and all the products for cleaning/sealing? I am worried about how it will hold up!@@colourful64able
I love this video, you, and your cats ...I have 9 cats and an old leather scratched couch ...I will try your method!!!
It looks good tia! The cats are all over the place 😂
Yes yes they are
Good job. It really brightened up the room.
What's the name of the color and paint.
Color is Rust. From rubnrestore.com
How many bottles did it take ? And has it lasted well since ?
Looks more vibrant than the old color. Great job 👍.
That really brightened up the room!
Yes It makes such a big impact!
Hi! How many bottles of the rub and restore did you use?
Just one bottle, two coats
What size bottle did you get?
The 16oz bottle, it was enough for two coats for the couch and an ottoman
And they say you cant have fun watching paint dry.
Thy Catalyst I agree I loved watching this paint dry!
hi! was curious how the paint has held up? im planning on doing this with a red leather chair, which doesn't get sat on ad much as our couch. how has the paint held up on your sofa that (im assuming) is used frequently?
thanks!!
Me too - Please let us know
Same.
Yo put your cats in another room while painting - paintgases are really bad for their little lungs
Hi! Can you update how its holding up now?
@@poshnmagick it does need a touch up finally
@@dianashouseofblue4178 thank you. I just purchased Angelus leather paint and it took me 8days to finally start a painting project. I was inspired by your painting tecniques and the shade you choose for the couch. Now that I applied 1st coat I do have a feeling for 3-4 more coats. But considering the fact couch is 20yrs old and has cracks I wonder if it's going to hold up.
Beautiful!! One of the best I’ve seen and that color is gorgeous, just 👌🏽
Thank you so much!!
How has this held up? Was it worth doing? I love the results!
It has held up great! But my couch does take a lot of abuse. It has faded some. But I will be easy to retouch and touch up
Does it change the feeling of the couch ...like the texture
This looks great! How is it holding up? How easily does it clean? If you use a magic eraser on it, does it take off the colour? Is it peeling anywhere? We have a good leather couch, and the leather is in good shape, but it is cream in colour, and our children have gotten ink on it in multiple places from pens. I use a Mr. Clean magic eraser on our couch frequently because it cleans much better than just warm, soapy water. I clean our couches about 3 times a month, completely wiping them down. Wanting to restore them, but concerned about longevity, how well it washes, etc. Our couch is real leather, and were expensive, and I don't want to ruin them, but I want a darker colour to hide the dirt. We have 5 children, four of whom are ages 6-10, so you can imagine that there are lots of dirty hands, spills, etc. Our couches are in our main living room, which is well used daily. Does it feel like the original leather? Would be great to hear an update and see an updated video thus far. Thanks, so much, for any advice you can offer. :-)
All Things Godly, Good and Beautiful a quick update, I did not seal it . Im thinking I will be needing to buy this sealer for it.
rubnrestore.com/leather-restoration-products/clear-prep-finish-conditioning-sealer/
I did wipe down the leather with alcohol before painting it. It has worn down in some areas but I still have more than enough left over from my 16 oz bottle to do touch ups. They do not recommend using abrasive cleaners on it. I feel like a magic eraser will definelty remove the paint off of it.
I will be making an updated video of how it has worn down in some areas. It is a high use area as our tv is in here
@@dianashouseofblue4178🙂 How did the paint hold up? How did you paint in the seams/corners/etc. of the couch? I know that when you sit down on ours, you can see the inside seems of the leather cushions, so those areas are important to paint, as well, but I'm not sure how to paint them. I haven't taken the plunge to paint our sofas yet, but they desperately need it! Did you do an update video yet? Thanks, again! 🙂
I used this and it is awful i keep trying to fix it but the dam stuff wont stay on
Is it crunchy feeling? Is it peeling up?
It is not crunchy at all, it has began to fade in some areas, but it is a high traffic area as it is in my tv room.
That couch is obviously heavy duty lol!
Question! How has the paint job held up? Are you still happy with it? Any fading or rubbing off at all? Seems too easy to last very well. Looks great though!
Hi, I am still in love with it. It has faded in some areas but the touch up is going to be very easy.
How many bottles did you have to use for the couch? What was the drying time like? How has it been holding up? Thanks!
Joy Thompson so sorry I just saw your comment. I used one 16 oz bottle. And it dries almost immediately. It has been holding up great. I will be posting a video soon
How many bottles did it take to finish this sofa?
May o know the color u choose
I see that the video is 4 months ago are you still happy with 3results? Did you have to touch up spots or the whole couch again?
Sonya Eleazer I do still love it! There is only a few spots that I have to touch up. I will be making a video soon
Great job! I am ordering this right now.. the other videos I’ve seen , they use a sponge, what’s the difference between sponge and the brush? Which gives a better result? Thanks!
They do recommend you use a sponge to give it some texture. For me personally The brush seemed like it would be less messy. But I did notice that I do get some streaks with the brush.
Good job! And inspiring
My wife was after me to replace our furniture, just because the dye had come off. We used this exact brand and our furniture came out looking brand new. Use gloves and a sponge, and you will 100% be satisfied. Absolutely unbelievable.
FLIPPING AMAZING
The cats are so funny 😂 can I ask how the sofa Is holding up? Has the paint cracked or anything?I'm looking to do mine white from black but I would really love to hear if it holds up or not. Thanks
Hey, I have a dark brown leather couch...can I paint it light blush pink? 😊
Hello, I really like this 👍🏽,does the color fade when you sit down is the color erased or is it still the same
BellaA B The color has faded a tad in some areas. But it is a piece that gets LOTS of use. I will be retouching it very soon
Wow.. Looks fantastic.ive got exactly the same couch!
Beautiful! And I love the music
Kirsten Hinton thank you so much Kirsten!
this is SORCERY! lol jk I'm totally doing this!
Oh I love
هل يوجد اللون الابيض
Looks great! That's the color I want to get to from dark brown. How is it holding up after a year? Is there any peeling or cracking?
So this applies right on top of the current finish of the couch? No need to "de glaze" the leather first?
Also did this end up cracking and peeling at all? If it's really just a surface treatment and isn't penetrating the material I can only assume there will be flaking with time and with movement of the leather
Hi did you clean the leather thoroughly (from grease or stain ,etc) before painting? Are you happy with the product after 1 year
The sponge wasted a ton for us - the product just didn’t work as expected after we spent 150 and lots of time 🤥
That is beautiful! I will definitely give your name when I purchase
How many cats do you have ?
I have 3 fur babies my oldest is about to turn 14
Cat sooo cute busy little bady just trying to help mom. Couch looks great
ok I gonna go paint my chair thank you
Hi! I too have been looking at buying a new couch b/c I don’t care for my espresso colored sectional anymore. I love this idea! Do you notice a texture feel change? Is it sticky/tacky? Does it smell differently now? Thanks in advance. I love the turn out!
Did u seal it with anything after painting it?
Tamara Hawkins no I did not seal it at all
How is it holing up!? Have you had any issues after?
What size bottle did you use and was it enough?
Sonya Eleazer I bought the 16 oz bottle, yes It covered the couch twice and I still have enough to do the touch ups
You inspired me! I want to do mine right now😆🥰 ur super🌟
How has it held up since?
Its held on great! It does finally need a touch up as its worn down overtime. But my kids and I are extra rough on this couch. Especially during summer when kids come in with wet bathing suits. I will be posting an update soon.
One 16 oz bottle dyed the whole sectional? I have a very light tan real leather sectional about this size i want to turn grey. I like the rub and restore "Ash vinyl and leather finish." How many bottles do you think i should buy?
Yes One 16 oz did the whole couch twice!
@@dianashouseofblue4178 thank you!
@@dianashouseofblue4178 did it smell up your house?

Bless your heart! You did all the research for me! I have an espresso leather ottoman that I love and I thought I could get a newer one in Camel color. Girl.......$1,500.00 for a cheap looking ottoman, smaller than mine, no way! My ottoman is 11 years old and it looks brand new. We use it to put up our feet while watching tv, it is so comfortable and I will never get a coffee table, that would be pretty but not functional. Now I will make it new again! Thank you dear sister, you made my COVID year a little brighter!
Haydee Simmons hooray!! I am so happy that I was able to be of some help. Keeping busy with projects is the best way to pass this COVID time
How much paint have you used for this sofa?
Would it cover kitty scratches?
Looks AMAZING!
Can’t wait to do this!!!
Hi Dianna, One year pass, is paint pealing or cracking?
Where did you get the paint?
Chris Tango purchased online at rubnrestore.com
How long did it take you ?
Tyler so sorry it took me with out the prep about 2 hours
I read this stuff needs like 8 coats
Nice job
Thank you!
Kitty paw tracks😅
Thanks for sharing!
I bough the same exact paint and my leather chair didn’t turn out that color at all! It turned out much darker 😩
Oh no! Im so sorry
M C ... Was your sofa also black to begin with, or a lighter colour? I wonder if that has something to do w the outcome!🤔
Suzy Dekker my couch was a very dark brown
Suzy Dekker the chair was white.. that could’ve been why
Wow... I love the colour ,and it's made your room look bigger 😲 well done ,great job 👍
Great job 👌 where can I get the paint
I love how invested your kitties are in what you're doing lol
Good job!!!!
Did u use a sealer afterwards?
You did a great job
Hi , I love this project I just wondering if the color works for faux leather light cream ?
Andrea Valbuena Im going to send you to their FAQ page, rubnrestore.com/how-to-category/assess-project-articles/
You may find that information on there
How do you do the edges they keep stocking and cracking
Yousuf Ahmed Hi so for the edges I paint them and then hold them apart until they are dry.
WOW😍
Got enough cats..... Jesus
Kritikopedo Yes! Actually just momma and her babies. And I did keep 2 out of the four babies. I do love all my cats! Thank you
Wow looks amazing
I like ur cats soo cute 😍😻

I try on my sofa acrylic clr but its not dry faster how to dry fast
vimmi batra I am not too sure you can go to their website and check their trouble shoot page
Gorgeous!!! Well done 👏 👌
It looks great!
Looks amazing!
U did a great job! And so courageous too!
Not much courage when it was a rescued couch.
will it peel or come off on my clothes ? pricey for 16oz $70
Uptowns Finest I have not had it peel off. It has rubbed off on kids clother but only when their clothes were wet
@@dianashouseofblue4178 nice thanks for the info , reading the other comments says you needed to put something on it so it wouldn't come off ?
Why wouldn’t u lock up ur cats
They don’t bother me at all, they are free to go anywhere in my home and they prefer to be in the same room that I am in.
Do you remember the name of the collor?
Flower Flor the color is Rust
@@dianashouseofblue4178 is more like a burnt orange?
Thank you for this! Really helpful! Did you apply anything on top of the paint? Like a sealant? Protective layer?
Also do you mind if I ask what kind of paintbrush you used?
