It's not possible to keep him immobile for that long, but fake!Geto showing up caused all those memories to flood Gojo's mind, and the target's perception of time is enough for it to count and the Prison Realm to capture him. TL;DR: In the span of a second, three years of memories passed in Gojo's brain and the Prison Realm's rules say that counts for the minute Gojo needs to be in its range.

By seeing geto, and remembering all their years together, way more than a minute passed in his mind and instantly activated the prison realm.

Like basically the part of Hanami that was in the infinity could only move so fast as the rest of him was being pushed into it. resulting in a pancake. Hanami was exerting pressure on itself, because it was acting like infinite distance. Hanami's body was catching up to itself faster than it could handle. The effect was, basically, a wall hitting him because of this.

This episode had me at the edge of my seat. I even found myself not breathing at certain moments 💀. The killing of the humans was so much more gruesome in the anime, and that says a lot, considering how bad enough it was already in the manga 😭. So many things had to go right just for them to seal Gojo, he truly is "the strongest".
The blood curdle screams of the civilians and seeing their limbs and body parts fly in motion definitely adds to how gruesome it is. Honestly I was shocked by how gruesome it was in the manga but the anime made it mortifying.

Moving on, Gojo obliterated Hanami. Even with a handicap of holding back due to the civilians around. It's a bit of a shame. Hanami got interrupted from doing her domain expansion by Gojo last time. So she died without us ever seeing what it was. Unfortunate. I love Mahito hopping off the train after causing havoc and then being super happy. Even when facing Gojo, he seems to still be having fun. And considering how strong Gojo is, that just tells you how carefree Mahito is. Such a chaotic force. Finally, the reveal of Geto. Gojo was so strong that he annihilated Hanami. So strong that he took down an insane amount of transfigured humans in only a few minutes. But when he saw the body of his best friend, his mind froze up. Everything that he had been gifted in life told him that the person standing in front of him was Geto. But the depths of his soul cried out and told him that wasn't true. We were given a mention of Yuta as well, and while Gojo thinks Yuta could one day rival him, the person standing in for Geto seems to disagree. We start off this battle with our strongest player removed from the board. How fun.

kenjaku was fcking nasty. he knew gojo didn't let shoko handle the body out of consideration since they were close friends and took advantage of it. he also made sure to not show himself up to this moment so the reveal would surely shock gojo
Yall misunderstood something. The curses didn't need to hold Gojo off for one minute, they needed to fight him for OVER 20 MINUTES for Geto to prepare the prison realm and get Gojo sufficiently on edge/distracted. Then, once the prison realm is activated, Gojo needs to remain within 4 meters of it for one minute. That is what Jogo found so ridiculously impossible, keeping Gojo in a 4 meter radius for a full minute. But as Geto then explained, it only needs to be 1 minute in Gojos mind. So seeing Getos body again, the friend he thought he killed, flashed back all of those memories from his youth, thus YEARS have passed in his head in just a second and the 1 minute condition was more than fulfilled. Also, about Gojos domain since everyone seems to misunderstand that. Gojo did NOT kill anyone within the 0.2 seconds. He activated it for 0.2 seconds, which stunned everyone in the room with the information overflow and after that he took 299 seconds to kill 1000 transfigured humans with straight hands, no jujutsu techniques involved. He didn't attack the special grades because they are strong enough to wake up from any stimulation in that weak stun. Gojo is crazy, but he can't just kill 1000 people in 0.2 seconds without using jujutsu. With his techniques he easily could of course lmao. Lastly, if Gojo remains in the plot, the series becomes boring, don't you see that? If he's there, theres zero tension and danger from the villains. He needs to go. At least until enough shit went down that we need him again.

The author actually said he doesn’t like Gojo because he’s too OP, having Gojo makes it hard to write the story because no matter what happens Gojo will always save the day.
I think we forget that in jjk, the reason most people win isn't because of their technique it's because they can imagine a version of themselves where they win, and use confidence to get there. Like what GOJO said to megumi. GOJO is the strongest because he can always picture and carry himself into that version where he wins. But here, he lost sight of that, he lost the confidence he had in himself and lost sight of victory, choosing to believe his six eyes, that told him it was getou, than his own soul. He was sealed because he lost himself. But he still went crazy
Gojo's domain floods the mind with infinite informations that renders the victim unable to function or even catatonic. His domain is basically everything to ever exist flooding your mind and causing it to lag. here's a play by play of gojo's gamble: -Gojo activated the domain for 0.2 seconds (since anymore than that will cause all the civilians to become vegetables). -everyone got flooded with a vast amount of informations that rendered them frozen. -after 0.2 seconds he deactivated it. -he didn't attack the curses because there was a chance that the physical damage could wake them up. -after deactivating it, he speedblitzed the transfigured humans and killed all 1000 of them in the span of 299 seconds. -after a domain expansion, the cursed technique gets burned up and one could not use it for a period of time. -gojo notices "Geto" and has a flashback to the first arc of the season (3 years pass in a flash in his mind.) - the prison realm works only if the target stays in its radius for 1 minute of the target's mental time. Since gojo had memories flash in his mind, the 1 minute passed. -Gojo gets sealed.

Yall misunderstood something.
The curses didn't need to hold Gojo off for one minute, they needed to fight him for OVER 20 MINUTES for Geto to prepare the prison realm and get Gojo sufficiently on edge/distracted.
Then, once the prison realm is activated, Gojo needs to remain within 4 meters of it for one minute. That is what Jogo found so ridiculously impossible, keeping Gojo in a 4 meter radius for a full minute. But as Geto then explained, it only needs to be 1 minute in Gojos mind. So seeing Getos body again, the friend he thought he killed, flashed back all of those memories from his youth, thus YEARS have passed in his head in just a second and the 1 minute condition was more than fulfilled.
Also, about Gojos domain since everyone seems to misunderstand that.
Gojo did NOT kill anyone within the 0.2 seconds. He activated it for 0.2 seconds, which stunned everyone in the room with the information overflow and after that he took 299 seconds to kill 1000 transfigured humans with straight hands, no jujutsu techniques involved. He didn't attack the special grades because they are strong enough to wake up from any stimulation in that weak stun.
Gojo is crazy, but he can't just kill 1000 people in 0.2 seconds without using jujutsu. With his techniques he easily could of course lmao.
Lastly, if Gojo remains in the plot, the series becomes boring, don't you see that?
If he's there, theres zero tension and danger from the villains.
He needs to go. At least until enough shit went down that we need him again.

here's a play by play of gojo's gamble:
-Gojo activated the domain for 0.2 seconds (since anymore than that will cause all the civilians to become vegetables).
-everyone got flooded with a vast amount of informations that rendered them frozen.
-after 0.2 seconds he deactivated it.
-he didn't attack the curses because there was a chance that the physical damage could wake them up.
-after deactivating it, he speedblitzed the transfigured humans and killed all 1000 of them in the span of 299 seconds.
-after a domain expansion, the cursed technique gets burned up and one could not use it for a period of time.
-gojo notices "Geto" and has a flashback to the first arc of the season (3 years pass in a flash in his mind.)
