To make it super brief, the Heike Monogatari is an epic/historical account featuring the Taira and Minamoto samurai clans in the last years of the Heian period. It covers the final gasps of the powerful (and power hungry) Taira clan, and the successive battles with the imperial family's loyal Minamoto clan who are sent to reclaim the throne via routing the Taira clan insurrectionists. The series of events were passed down through oral tradition before being compiled in 1371. It's a cool nod by Gege which fits with Todo's high IQ and philosophical over-the-top character. Because of course he'd show up to a fight waxing poetic about the impermanence of things, by reciting a literary masterpiece most people don't bother memorizing. What's more badass than that? It's the equivalent of someone pulling up to a fight and spouting: "To be or not to be, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune..." (except, Hamlet's quote means something completely different, but in terms of atmosphere, reciting medieval literature is just that kind of knife's-edge-pretentious-yet-badass feeling Todo's achieving here) Here, Todo is essentially proclaiming to Yuji: "Even the mighty fall...but not us!" But yeah, the Heike Monogatari is one of those fundamental historical stories with iconic scenes that have been wildly influential to Japanese storytelling, and subsequently represented in a lot of media in the 700-ish years since its inception. He is both learning and fully embracing his nature. He is comfortable with who he is. He is a very young curse, so his potential and room to grow are nearly limitless. Considering that even after all this, Mahito still feels like his soul has another form of evolution that he's so close to reaching. He causes pain, fear, hatred, despair. He is a true curse. I've always loved that speech he gave Yuji during the beatdown. He's doing what he was born to do. Yuji being in the fight is why he can't just transfigure Yuji and Todo and instantly win the fight(due to Sukuna being inside Yuji and touching their souls together is too big of a risk). But it's also providing Mahito the room to grow and evolve. Yuji, Todo and Mahito have brought out 120% of their potential. The original quote and the full translated text are as follows: "(1) The sound of the bell of Gion Shoja echoes the impermanence of all things. The color of the teak tree blossoms declares that those who flourish must be cast down. (2) Yes, the proud are only for a moment, like a night's dream in spring. That heal like ability seemed real strong, if i understand it right they put everything on pause so if you had a crazy injury they could just basically say "i'll deal with that later"
its really strong as a support technique but much like shoko, it leaves the sorcerer with very little fighting presence. hence why nitta was paired up with todo who can 100% keep him safe from harm.
12:36 Fax Sheera, they put veins everywhere in this show. When Dagon was swallowing bodies, bro had mad throat veins too. I think the author has something he wants to tell us 😂
I feel like a lot of the people expecting Yuji to snap and turn up in the face of all this trauma, who are surprised at his shutdown, are forgetting that he's a _literal child._ He's 15. The main characters and the majority of the supporting characters are students, and none of them have trained for this level of crisis.
Pretty late but it's also a much more grounded and realistic response to trauma. Like in real life, trauma fucks you up. You don't get stronger from it in a matter of minutes, or maybe ever.
One of the things that makes jjk power system elite is that cursed energy is born from negative emotion. So in this deeply tragic and depressing moment as long as itadori has a strong enough will to keep moving forward he can channel that pain into more energy to keep fighting. It's not some bs power of friendship or finding my ki or Chakra randomly in reserve its literally turning the pain of the loss into strength by not giving up. But instead of just refusing to give up and being obnoxious about it they acknowledge the pain the loss is still there but they chose to move forward carrying that hurt with them and turning it into the power they need to win the fight. That's what makes itadori a great main character. His conflict gives rise to new depths of strength because of how much he cares so deeply.
7:51 What ibuprofen mans ability actually does is basically suspend your body in it's current state. It doesn't just take the pain away, it locks your body in it's current state of injury. He honestly explained that pretty clearly imo. Anyways, since Ieiri can use reverse cursed technique on others, she can regrow an entire body just from your head technically as long as that head is alive. So if Nitta(ibuprofen man) applied his technique to you the second you got beheaded, before your brain shuts off, Ieiri could save you. So he's saying that it's possible that Nobara is still in a state that Ieiri can repair her from and with his technique it won't get worse. So now he can carry Nobara to Ieiri and it would be as if Ieiri was here when Nobara got got and immediately applied reverse cursed technique to her. Remember Gojo had a knife stabbed through his brain by Toji, yet he was still able to survive through reverse cursed technique. As long as your body isn't completely dead, that shit is just so op it can save you. But well, Gojos brain didn't explode out of his skull and Nitta wasn't immediately there when Nobara got downed, so I don't think it's looking good. Just giving you the explanation on why he's saying she has a non zero percent chance of survival.
Yall gotta remember the lesson from when Todo and Yuji fought Hanami. Emotions are a source of power but becoming an extreme would be bad (Thats why Todo slaps him). So even if he got angry he probably would have used his CE terribly. ANd a reminder that Yuji is a 15 yr old boy. He can only take so much
If I was Yuji... I'd give Todo a big hug and a thank you for being with me through thick n' thin. He is a forreal brother who has stood by Yuji on ten toes.
mahito’s va is so crazy talented like woah and todo was the goat of this ep i love him so bad he had all those hallucinations to get his power up lmao crazy ass ep i loved it animation amazing good as always
I think when Sheera mentioned around the 12:20-ish mark of “Why are you still there?”, those people are possibly all of the people who were hit by Gojo’s DE Infinite Void which is why they weren’t moving (I think, not totally sure)
I remember when this first came out in the manga. Everyone was ready for Yuji to pop off and then the first thing that happens is Yuji getting folded by black flash. Todo really is a life saver.
Ngl, Mahito’s excitement in this episode really highlights the fact that he’s basically still a little kid at the end of the day. Albeit one we hate for good reason.
7:52 He paused her physical state. So she is dead, but like a person who just now flatlined. Someone who can perhaps still be resuscitated. With some jujutsu, some RCT, AND A WHOLE LOT DELULU, Nobara can rise once again.
Mahito reminds you guys of Tomura Shigaraki because he's supposed to. Gege Akutami and Kohei Horikoshi are friends, and Mahito is Akutami's own creative take on Shigaraki, conceptualized after the two chopped it up and bounced ideas off each other. You can see it in the multiple similarities between the two characters: Visual: Same white hair Character: similar initial immaturity and character arcs of steadily growing to become the most menacing, terrible version of themselves possible; same "I just wanna destroy everything" mentailty. Powerset: Both characters' whole thing is fucking things and/or people up by touching them with their hands.
12:18 “Why are you still there?” Pretty sure those are the people that are basically in a vegetive state due to Gojo’s Domain Expansion The curses were able to awaken faster, but is not as simple for normal humans
It is a pity that the narrator at the moment of the Black Flash from Mahito did not quote a phrase from the manga, but at that moment it was said that the Black Flash does not care whether you are evil or good, a cursed spirit or a person, it does not choose whom to bless, anyone can achieve a Black Flash
Honestly, seeing Itadori cry on the floor was more sad than Nobara and Nanamin's death (Maybe because i got spoiled on it last year. Advice to everyone: if you see an image, edit of an anime you like, dont read the comments because there are definitely gonna be spoilers esp on IG. I never knew that so i kinda knew who was going to die when this season started) I actually cried because that pain especially for someone his age, and with his personality, is enough to get him to walk out of the veil and never be found again. I like how realistic his break down was because i would also be bawling like him, and I'm an adult. And through all that, i loved Mahito's speech and the way his voice actor delivered it. Both Yuuji and Mahito's VAs killed it this episode.
7:57 She's mostly dead. There is a difference between mostly dead and all dead. Now if she's all dead the only thing you can do is go through her pockets to look for loose change.

THEY MADE THE PANEL THE EXACT SAME IN THE ANIME AND I LOVE THAT PROPS TO MAPPA MAN. But fr tho feel bad for the animators😭
Fuck Mappa but thank the animators for their hard work despite how Mappa treats them for our enjoyment
12:36 Fax Sheera, they put veins everywhere in this show. When Dagon was swallowing bodies, bro had mad throat veins too. I think the author has something he wants to tell us 😂
You should see Demon Slayer veins lol.
Love how they perfectly incorporated that silly cover page into Todo's black flash. It fit right in as well 😂
that tombstone edit at @7:49 is CRAZY 😭😭
That transition to Nobara's dead face was just messed up. Them animators are unhinged 😭
Love or hate Mahito, but we can't ignore his VA is one of the best.
The animators drew out 120% of their latent potential for this season bruh
That nobara headstone was so foul lmao.
yuji's metal health may be at an all time low but todo's buggie woogii jumping is at an all time high we JUMPING TONIGHT BOIS!!
@@common_undead That, too.
You don’t have to downvote and shit on other animes to just up vote your favorite anime, you know
12:18 Pretty sure they were also caught in Gojo's Unlimited Void. Notice they have that dead, blank stare cuz it rendered them near brain dead?
12:57 UNITED STATE OF TODO 🔥
Nobunaga Shimazaki truly captures the essence of Mahito. some absolutely amazing voice work and acting from him.
Seeing that flashback of the gang just goofing around feels like a completely different show at this point
7:51
What ibuprofen mans ability actually does is basically suspend your body in it's current state.
The fact Yuji is like 15, also makes this so much harder.
todo really hit us with that one for all 😭😭😭😭
You can truly see why jogo made mahito the leader. His potential is stupid insane.
Toji with the brotivational speeches !
Itadori definitely needed that pep talk from best friend
Go beyond!
4:50 "I'll make a man out of you"
NAAHHHH😭😭😭
Todo came to clap some cursed cheeks and after all the pain, I’m here for it all👏🏽
Man if they pack Todo up next episode, I might have to call it wraps for this show
Same here, he actually is fighting the top spot for my favorite characters luffy 😂
Trust me he doesn't die
[SPOILER ALERT]if you want to know what happens ↓
Todo loses one of his hands
@@vio4727 fuck you you did that on purpose 😭
Yall gotta remember the lesson from when Todo and Yuji fought Hanami. Emotions are a source of power but becoming an extreme would be bad (Thats why Todo slaps him). So even if he got angry he probably would have used his CE terribly. ANd a reminder that Yuji is a 15 yr old boy. He can only take so much
12:28 Todo must have clapped his cheeks on that switch. 😂😂
Todo had one of the best anime entrances and man was literally just walking 😂
15:21 post episode clarity is crazy 😂
If I was Yuji... I'd give Todo a big hug and a thank you for being with me through thick n' thin. He is a forreal brother who has stood by Yuji on ten toes.
mahito’s va is so crazy talented like woah and todo was the goat of this ep i love him so bad he had all those hallucinations to get his power up lmao crazy ass ep i loved it animation amazing good as always
I CANNOT imagine how they’ll introduce the restless gambler himself….going to be so epic
Who?
@@Zee6rider hikari, the other 3rd year mentioned by gojo who got expelled
9:43 Had me dying. More so when I realised Gojo is also *literally* in a box while this happens
Roshi and sheera : "She's alive"
Manga readers:🤣🤣🤣
I think when Sheera mentioned around the 12:20-ish mark of “Why are you still there?”, those people are possibly all of the people who were hit by Gojo’s DE Infinite Void which is why they weren’t moving (I think, not totally sure)
Yo Gojo lying in the cut within Mahito's mouth at 2:00. Whoever you're guys editor is needs a raise.
Todo speeding away with "You say run" in the bg is the coolest shit 've ever seen lmao
I remember when this first came out in the manga. Everyone was ready for Yuji to pop off and then the first thing that happens is Yuji getting folded by black flash. Todo really is a life saver.
They got trolled? I thought the narration made it clear that he was done, mentally and emotionally.
Plottwist: Yuji is his biological _"brother"_
We gonna ignore how fire the yaboyroshi intro is tho
Ngl, Mahito’s excitement in this episode really highlights the fact that he’s basically still a little kid at the end of the day. Albeit one we hate for good reason.
7:52 He paused her physical state. So she is dead, but like a person who just now flatlined. Someone who can perhaps still be resuscitated. With some jujutsu, some RCT, AND A WHOLE LOT DELULU, Nobara can rise once again.
Watching anime and reading manga is always so exhilarating.
tru
manga ass
Todo hitting the All might will forever remain in my memory
0:39 Roshi had the Diavolo treatment 🤣
Lupa fucking with Roshi in every intro will never gets old 😂😂😂😂
Mahito reminds you guys of Tomura Shigaraki because he's supposed to. Gege Akutami and Kohei Horikoshi are friends, and Mahito is Akutami's own creative take on Shigaraki, conceptualized after the two chopped it up and bounced ideas off each other. You can see it in the multiple similarities between the two characters:
Visual: Same white hair
Character: similar initial immaturity and character arcs of steadily growing to become the most menacing, terrible version of themselves possible; same "I just wanna destroy everything" mentailty.
Powerset: Both characters' whole thing is fucking things and/or people up by touching them with their hands.
12:18 “Why are you still there?”
Pretty sure those are the people that are basically in a vegetive state due to Gojo’s Domain Expansion
The curses were able to awaken faster, but is not as simple for normal humans
It is a pity that the narrator at the moment of the Black Flash from Mahito did not quote a phrase from the manga, but at that moment it was said that the Black Flash does not care whether you are evil or good, a cursed spirit or a person, it does not choose whom to bless, anyone can achieve a Black Flash
"The sparks of black... do not choose who to bless."
Editor's wild for that "All my friends are dead." 😭😭
Todo really pulled up with the plus ultra 1million% black flash
Absolute peak!
I can only imagine how this season would be provided the proper conditions and time!
12:13.. It’s not wat he switch with. It’s how he was able to clap to switch if both his hands were holding the blades 🤔
This editor is killing me bro 😂😂
Mechamaru's goodby to Miwa made me cry both time seeing that scene bro, shit hits hard
The fact that Todo is throwing bare hands with a mf who could turn him into a shriveled raisin in an instant is wild. He is HIM.
12:18 bcuz they're still affected by Gojo Domain Expansion, thats why they're freezing, you guys remember the place right
The way they immediately cut it to nobara's death after showing that flashback is foul 😭
Yuji really be pulling that Starlight Anya moment throwing Todo like a dodgeball.
The editor NEEDS a raise
7:57
She's mostly dead. There is a difference between mostly dead and all dead. Now if she's all dead the only thing you can do is go through her pockets to look for loose change.
