Ty, your video just saved my shirt. I purchased a really nice sweater yesterday while waiting for my mom. When I got home, I realized the cashier, who had been new, hadn't removed the security tag. I was so mad, I didn't want to drive 2.5 hours back to have it removed..... Lucky me, I had a pair of neodymium magnets I use when fencing to keep staples together in my belt bag, and boom! One and done! Thank you!
THIS is the video to watch if you are searching for "how to take off security tag"... 100000% times better than any others I've seen today, and I've looked all over for an hour...
I was putting my new clothes away today and I noticed a shirt still had this tag on it. Then my search began to remove it. Till I found this video. Now I gotta get me some magnets.
I got a small set of 6 of the magnets at Home Depot ($7). The tag was very thick on top so I used it on the metal button on the inside of the sweater which immediately loosened up. I had to wriggle it a bit with needle nose pliers. Wonderful! No damage to an expensive sweater. Thanks!
My wife just received a pair of pants with a security tag attached from an online purchase. Just sort out which side DOESN'T have the ink packets and put that piece in a vice. Then crank it down until the casing breaks open and releases the pin. I wrapped both sides of the tag in plastic as a failsafe. The vise worked like a charm and released the pin without breaking either of the ink vials. The entire process took less than 30 seconds.
Got to say, I didn't have a magnet, but I did the tin foil thing and lit it on fire and it worked like a charm. Bought and paid for two bras stuck together with a security tag. Store was 3 hours from where I live. Thank you so much very helpful. The tag was really small I didn't Even notice it until I went to go put one on. Lol
I found myself, sans magnets, at a clothing store that had a pair of expensive jeans adorned with one of these security tags that I couldn't quite afford. No magnets, but I did have a torch lighter on me. Long story short, the clothing store is no longer there.
did you put fire on the store? or maybe they smelled the smell of brnt stuuf,, you almost got caught by the entire police city, yoa moron soon you end up vey bad. dont have money dont buy it, buy it cheaper
I paid for a very expensive blouse I fell in love with at J C Penny's department store. At the time I lived 45 minutes away in horrific traffic to get to the Fashion Square Mall in Torrance so you can imagine my infuriation when I got home and realized the clerk who rang up my blouse neglected to remove the security device. I was determined (stupidly) to get the device off my blouse myself - anything was better than facing that 45 minute drive back to the mall to have the clerk remove it for me. Needless to say, I would have been better off with the headache I would have gotten driving back to the mall - I ruined my blouse because the security device leaked a "ton" of bluish-black ink all over my blouse, ruining it and raising my frustration to levels I thought not possible. I wish I had thought to check videos here on You Tube before I tried the removal myself. As one commenter put it, "Man. You can find anything on You Tube" (or something to that effect)
Did the security alarm not go off when you walked out or perhaps ran out the store lmao😂 everyone is acting so innocent the tags are there so the alarm gets triggered when you leave or am I wrong here???
Thank you. Got a sweater shipped and store forgot to take tag off. Lol. I had a pretty strong magnet ( not the type you said) and after a few hard hits, it came off. Saves me weeks of sending back and getting new one.
The magnet technique just worked on a security tag with a solidly-built, really long, pointed fastener. It took quite a stack of them but was able to wiggle it gently off. Spent more on the magnets than on the item of clothing haha but it was important for an event tonight. And I’m sure this won’t be the last time someone comes home with one of those things on an item they just purchased.
I'm going to use the magnets from now on . I get them off using small cutting pliers . I just put a butter knife under the smaller round end to allow the cutters to get under the plastic and just cut away chunks of it till I've removed about half of it and I either cut the pin or it just seperates and falls apart. Can't do this in the open at shops but takes a few min and can be done in the change rooms no problems or just wait Till you're at home to do it
What about using a power drill with foil or plastic wrap of some sort. Also, I was wondering if tags with ink can be placed in the freezer or do they use antifreeze with the ink to lower the freezing temp required.
What is the name of the strong magnet being used in the video? How strong is the one used in the video? How do you tell how strong the magnet is when purchasing a magnet? Thanks for any and all help!
The crazy thing is it's literally just a cheap magnet! however, crazy as it is, Amazon sells this "sensor remover" thing (just a giant version of a magnet, I work at Victoria's Secret and we had the same one for an extra but it was stolen lol) and it's ridiculously over 70$!!!!!!!
Bought boots two years ago, went to wear them and noticed there’s a tag on it! The store is not even in business. What type of magnet do I have to buy?
This is awesome because the fools at the store wouldn’t take it off since I lost the receipt. But what shop lifter comes to the store and says hey take this tag off they usually know all these tricks
I had 2 considerably strong magnets I put them together to make One then applied to the security tag as shown and like MAGIC with a little wiggle the spring released!! 🤠 yeeHaw Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks bro. This worked well. I stacked small magnets and barely had enough pull from them to do the job. It took a soft pull to get it to come off. One more magnet and it would have come off easy peasy but hey.. got it at least.
I just used the burning technique but the spring never appeared and took a lot longer to burn off. I had to burn literally half the tag (and it took about 15 min) and focus on burning the part where the spring is, using a lighter and was eventually able to pull it off after burning it long enough
What strength of magnet should I use what’s the best strength to use in order to get this done I have a piece of clothing just sitting in my stuff I haven’t been able to wear I’m about to buy these just need the size I should buy of the magnet
Didn't have a magnet so I had no choice to do the fire method it worked but mine didn't have a spring in it flat black thing that it was stuck into I ended up pulling it out of the melt security tag and wiggled the pen of from there. I was nervous but it I got it done thank you so much
Many years ago I bought a suit from a store that was closing. The salesperson missed one of the security and I was never able to get it off. What was the name of the magnet?
During the pandemic, I did a lot of on-line shopping, and got some items with the security tag still on it, one was a suit also. Glad to learn how to remove it.
hi, we purchased some wholesale clothing in a lot and about 25 of them have these type of security tags, I reached out to the wholesaler and they weren't any help. Do you know the pound size of the magnet you used? Some say 25# and some up to 500# so thought I'd ask. thank you so much!!
are you sure? the fucking ink alarms are still on my duffle that i bought myself. i will never ever use the containment store again. the one with the joy lady? she says keep what gives you joy? that store she is involved with. i still hate all those damn get organized shows. stuff is overpriced and glitzy.
1 second...Took my bench grinder to the head of the fastener, ground it off. Literally 1 second, if you don't count the 5 seconds it took for the grinder to spin up...
It took me a few seconds to grind off the cap of the head and release the spring inside so that the "gripper" could slide back and let go of the pin. With a little practice, I know I could compete with thectsg1!
You can also just cover the beeper with tin foil and take it off at home. Getting caught with a magnet inside the store can be classified as a burglary if you get caught doing anything suspicious.
Any Dabbers or people with torches. Use a torch and just torch it hard as fuck. It’ll make it melted and soft. Then hit it like twice with a hammer and it literally pops off.
I have a sensor tag left on from a shop at the mall. I have to ride a bus back up there to have this thing removed. So I did try the magnet. I have one of those you throw in water on the end of a rope. I tried a few times but no cigar. I'm not messing with fire, thanks anyway. My solution: get on the bus and return it for a refund. Ef it. I don't need it that bad. I'll take my money where they remove these things properly because it's their job
I understand if a sensor is accidentally left. I think this is teaching thives how to steal. I would return to store with item to have sensor removed. These moves. Hopefully the don't start loading the sensor with dye in them.
Good video for thieves as well as the people trying to prevent theft. I only mean the magnet, the fire part is too messy and takes too long. I could never put fire next to any clothing i like.

It's frustrating when you buy something nice and you get home and realize the big heavy tag is still on it. I appreciate the tip. Thx.
Ah yes, the scientific methods of solving any problem, whether scientific, social or practical.
1. Magnets.
2. Set it on fire.
LOL
cleaning out closet , found a shirt that had a tag, got one of my Hard Drive magnets, Worked like a champ thanks.....
I was putting my new clothes away today and I noticed a shirt still had this tag on it.

No magnet, got a lighter and foil. It works!!! THANK U!!

I'm here bc a gym scammed me of 1k so I need to take 1k of items from somewhere else

You loco baby
They never say how strong a magnet.. fauck
Same but didn’t burn the store down. It’s good to take something to smoke with you to take away the smell when doing this in store
😂😂😂That is some funny stuff!!!
I can allegedly confirm that this technique allegedly works in store.
wait seriously ?? thank you for this im here because i like to shoplift😭

Thank you so much !! Got the tag off my pants using the fire method. Had some jeans I wanna wear on vacation !!!
a powerful magnet and you have a business.
Amazing!! I had the tag off by the time the video was over.
If you have one and at home you can use a small hacksaw in between it and saw it right off no problem
What is the name of the strong magnet being used in the video?

What kind of magnet?
I worked in a Walmart.....the things they use to take the tags off are Literally magnets.....
YAHAWASHI worked at Walmart?🤨
I usually use the plastic bag handle technique until it's about half off and then snip the pin with wire cutters. Always works

I’ve been looking for my magnets for days and while I was listening to this video I found them
Someone here in the UK did the burning trick in the Matalan store before leaving with said garment. Matalan had to be rebuilt. (Grimsby).
Thanks! My work light had a magnet strong enough for me to wiggle the tag off in about 5 seconds!
We were wondering where we'd find a strong enough magnet...used your work light trick. Thanks!
Which work light is this?
Many years ago I bought a suit from a store that was closing. The salesperson missed one of the security and I was never able to get it off. What was the name of the magnet?
greener pastures neodymium magnet
During the pandemic, I did a lot of on-line shopping, and got some items with the security tag still on it, one was a suit also. Glad to learn how to remove it.
I just did the tin foil and lighter method. THANK YOU!
I had this happen today. Next time I am making sure they remove the tag when I buy something.
I just happened to have a very strong magnet. It literally fell off in my hand in about a second. Who knew !!!
hi, we purchased some wholesale clothing in a lot and about 25 of them have these type of security tags, I reached out to the wholesaler and they weren't any help. Do you know the pound size of the magnet you used? Some say 25# and some up to 500# so thought I'd ask. thank you so much!!
How many pounds does the magnet need to hold
How do I bring magnets threw the security detectors?
Hahaha I steal clothes so this is very handy, thanks
Great video I have these magnets. Now if you could only teach us how to reattach clothing tags in case we prematurely cut them off? 😉
just poke it back through the shirt and pop the tag back on to the screw part and then it’s locked again
Melt the plastic tag holder back together with a lighter or something
Thank you so much I was able to use the magnet method and save mys3lf yet another trip back to the store !
This method took less than 5 minutes. Thank you so much for your video!!!!
Can you provide a link for these magnets
Didn’t work for me😢,, but the burning method did
Thank you it worked for me…. I lost receipt and store wont take it off without receipt

They are called NEODYMIUM MAGNETS. He said to check on ebay & that they're cheap. Or u can Google neodymium magnets for sale.
Who needs this??
Do neodymiummagnets set off security alarms?
no
it has 2 be a magnet init am guessin b4 i se thats only cos ive worked with magnets alot
This 100% may, or may not, have totally worked! Or, it didn't. If it DID, I would be thrilled! If it didn't, well, I wouldn't be. 😆
you can literally cut off the cone with a saw or knife and release the mechanism

hate when this happens, especially because you have to go out of your way to wear clothing that you already bought.
ThankQ so much..I jus bought a shirt w the security tag still on..Imma hv to burn it tho hopefully everything will go ok
I used a Tile Cutter..workd in 5 seconds...
Thank you for your video, lifesaver.
how did you said was the name of the magnet??
Neodymium

A grinder isn't really necessary. You could use some coarse sandpaper or a file, but then it will take a few minutes instead of a few seconds...
I see why you don't like the second method. I agree: the powerful rare-earth magnet method is better.
Very informative 👏
Works like a charm. Thanks.
they forgot to take my tag off😭

I did mines with the hammer!!!!!😂
Thats cool, I just banged on it with a hammer and it opened
You can just pay for the merchandise. That's the easiest way
Yeah, if you're pretty sure there's no dye, just smash it with a hammer. Save your time. Wish I did.
