Thank you for your transparency. Not that it was in any way needed - it's your own business. But, appreciated none the less. And well done on taking such massive decisions - selling the F40, opting into the Monza and then out. Each of those are massive and not easy. I hope Ferrari do indeed respect your decisions and will continue to welcome your custom.

Human nature is a funny thing. We often simply want what we can’t have, then all of sudden it becomes within reach and you suddenly realise that you don’t actually want it all. This happened to me with a Ferrari FF. I browsed daily looking for the right one, prices edged down, business was good, the right one appeared at the right price. I drove it and I just didn’t want it, it didn’t make any sense.
So here I am now and there’s no car I actually want, that huge list of cars I’d buy if I were ever able to, well now I am able to buy some of them and I’ve discovered I don’t actually want any of them. So I’m having a rethink and I’m really drawn to to the work RetroPower do. So I’m trying to figure out what I’d like. Maybe an E9 BMW coupe with modern running gear and custom interior. Something built for me. Or a 560 SEC narrowbody AMG Mercedes with E63 6.2 running gear.I’m open to ideas.

Can’t blame you Damian. I struggled with the AM Valhalla purchase and cancelled for mostly the same reason you did. I’ve got seven cars I can comfortably store at home and that’s what I’m going to keep. Some will stay and some will come and go. If I decided to store off site then it would become a handful for me so keeping it real and having fun with what I have as opposed to blowing things up and having a couple very expensive cars.

Just brilliant, love the suspense before revealing the F40 successor.
Probably the right decision on the SP2.
Surely a car that is more of a garage ornament than a genuine back road weapon.

I have to say, as it was based on the 812 Superfast, it was amazing to drive

Great update! Still miss that stunning F40 and not sure the FP2 would have been used. They are a bit impractical, even for a supercar. And ignore all the comments about the CGT. You know that's a car everyone wants but no owner actually likes.

Understandable decision, however tough. Thank you for being you and being honest. I was going to say that a 288 GTO would have been an amazing replacement. But that was before I checked the current prices.

Never been that impressed with the Monza SP1, barely grabbed me and I love Ferrari. I think you made the right decision in all honesty, I hadnt actually looked at the price before this video and I assumed it would be in the region of 300-400k. Silly me!

You fu**** up Damian... F40 is superior than the Monza SP2... sorry mate, but I have to tell you the truth. But I love your honesty, well done mate for doing this video 👏👏

1.6 million is crazy money for something based on an 812, as cool as they are. The Laf wasn't even that much.

I think you made the right decision and I think a 288 GTO would look better than the F40 in your garage Damien. Must be my favourite Ferrari. Any chance? Go on, you know you want to... Great vid BTW, keep up the good work!

it's this sort of supercar palaver which means I stick to keeping my 2008 1.4 D4D Toyota Yaris for taking the dog for his walkies. Thanks Damien for keeping me yet again on the straight and narrow.

I saw the SP2 art Maranello during the Roma launch and it is spectacular. Could nt keep my eyes off it and the Roma palled. The price is as spectacular as the looks.

Heh, it's your choice and I've never been lucky enough to drive an F40 or a Monza, let alone own one, but I don't see the appeal of that Monza at all. The F40 is the supercar I'd buy if I could afford one, the Monza doesn't even register for me.

    Brutal.
Doubt I’ll ever be in such a position but having been a teenager in the 1980s, very little would ever compare to an F40. There’s just too many videos on YT of Monzas tootling round Casino Square for them to compare.

    I think you
Did the right thing cancelling that
All super cars are impractical but that takes it to a new level
Personally I would feel a total bell end driving that with myself and passenger helmeted up
    I just don’t get it

Epic though it must be on the right day I think novelty of Monza would have wear off much quicker than the F40. 812 GTS must be a nicer thing to actually use. A little less special perhaps but more enjoyable more of the time. And only a little less special!

Serious money. It looks good but no roof so limited driving opportunities. Good to think about that opportunity.

1.5 million quid is a lot of money. Hyper car territory. I think modern hyper cars are changing models by the week. Personally, I like the EB110ss from that era... Though I always wondered about the 1000hp Ferrari Koenig Competition Evolution. Had that poster on my wall right next to the white Countach.... ;-) Heck, I'd like to see you add a Miura SV to your collection to be honest or the old Jaguar XJ13. Rare and class....

To replace the F40 you need a car with 3 pedals and a manual gear change. It doesn't have to be an uber expensive rare Ferrari. How about a GTO Engineering 250 GT SWB?

Great vid - love the honesty. Given you paid ~£500k, did you get out for flat out a nice hefty premium? (Can’t remember when they rocketed compared to when you sold). I do hope they come back a bit…would be so much easier to get approval from the boss (wife)!!
