Driving Nigel Mansell's Legendary 1989 Ferrari F40 (Gifted by Enzo Ferrari)

- There may be quite a few F40's floating around, but some are a bit more unique than others. The first run of the legendary twin-turbo supercar featured non-adjustable suspension, Lexan race windows, no door cards, and came from the factory without any catalytics. After quite a bit of chasing we purchased one of these Ferrari F40's and its pedigree didnt end with its early production status. This car belonged to Legendary Formula One driver, Nigel Mansell who was gifted the car by none other than Ferrari Founder, Enzo Ferarri in celebration of Nigel's signing to the Scuderia F1 Team in 1989.

Just went into it cold, no words, just let the car do the talking. That was amazing, John.
: ) Thank you! That was the goal. Honestly, who wants to hear me talk??
@@WeAreCurated I've re-watched several videos of yours just because you're pleasant to listen to. Your passion shows. I've noticed an AR and AK in the background of some of your videos. Are you a gun 'curator' as well?
@@LambosOnly what videos are you taking about
"That ginger lad that likes Ferrari's" 10/10 accurate description.
I love F40 but i will never afford one .. once an F40 is pulled out to be driven it always create a paranoia around.. at 4:39 is on traffic highway on left lane a Tesla S (with no sound) in the middle the F40(loud & spitting flames) and on the right a new BMW X5 of which lady passenger got her phones out to take some photos / filming the most insane shoot.. ;0)
Really enjoyed the start of the video without any talking, reminded me of an old movie with just the sounds of the car. Then I enjoyed hearing you talk about it. Another great video
I think that movie was The Gumball Rally.
Feels more like the old Rendezvous in Paris vibes.
Yeah man me to the start of this video is pure car porn.
The video doesn't show the speed of the car, just the sound. A very boring video, it's a waste of time.
I love that Italian symphony. The sound of total domination.
Not to sh*t on your point but, 959....
I like how you put it…”sound of total domination.”👍
I think the best part must be the lady around the 4:25 mark... Filming the F40, from the passenger seat of that SUV. While I doubt she's into cars (I could be wrong), she can tell the F40 is a special car... It sounds great, even cruising around like that. What a car....
Definitely, one of the best F40 videos I have ever seen! Well done man!
Former F1 Champ Nico Rosberg has a upload on UA-cam driving one around Monaco ...he said to drive F40 was always on his bucket list!! It's a good watch.
Excuse my language, but This is a fucking legendary video. Perfect. The sounds are hair raising, love it!!!
Thank you so much!!
That’s the proper way to describe this video.
3:25 Pause that shot. Could be the cover art for some 1980s arcade racer.
need for speed I
It looked very oddly artificial.

How does this channel not have a million subscribers??? Great video John.
Sliding windows make the euro spec’s that much better. Love it!
I would love to imagine Mansell watching this video and seeing his car now in the hands of a business that's so passionate about the motors they purchase. I'm sure he would be happy to see that.
Nigel sold the car within months of getting it.
@@briankearn6991 Nothing like some cold hard facts to kill my imagination 🤣
I truly love how calm and normal seeming it was watching you start and drive an amazing car. Love your videos keep it up!
Amazing all around. Lost for words. Great job John and crew.
Introduction was absolutely incredible! Keep up the great work team!
sounds so good 🔥
We need POVS like this for every car 😩countach especially
F50 please
LOVE the intro with just the car and it's sound. No need for talking or a music background. Thanks for yet another great video.
great video, thank you for posting. fascinating history of an iconic car.
There is nothing that beats this car man.
Wow. Thx John. The sound and footage are incredible.
Man. I always have respected you. But the way you started the video just took my respect to another level. No need for an intro or even words. Thanks for the wonderful sounds.
This video goes some way into giving me an idea of what it would be like to drive an F40. I loved it! The fact you didn’t talk and just drove! Exactly what an experience of driving this car would be like!
Amazing shots and my favorite car in the world. You are driving a dream life thank you for let us see this footage. Greetings from Uruguay
You can see that John was so overwhlemed filiming this, he just remained speechless. Has this always been your dream drive man ?
When simply watching someone drive this car can produce such an emotional response by the viewer, no words are necessary. Thank you for this.
Thank you for the kind words!
@@WeAreCurated Huge fan. Keep up the great content!
Once again you shared with us something very special. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Best video on UA-cam right now! I wish my phone sounded this good so I could set my ringtone to that! I just might sit there and call myself all day
Man. you are living my dream! Awesome stuff!! Such amazing work and dedication
Nice work with this video. The F40 is just one of the coolest cars ever made and I have never come across a car guy that doesn't like it!
Love it, thank you Curated!
I think one of the best F40 driving videos!!
Absolute surreal pleasure. Congrats on the acquisition!
What a car. And what a history! Another great video John.
For me still today, the “holy grail” of super cars, the F40. One of my catchlines in the corporate world is “every man’s got a price, my price is the title of a Ferrari F40…. Only, else forget it there’s no price interesting enough for me” 😁.
so perfect, keep up the good work sir!
So badass thanks 🙏 for showing us
Probably the greatest car of all time. Fantastic video
And it is an honour to have you share the car and story/background with us John
Love that there was not a word spoken until @6:23, John just let the car speak for itself... high art here!
I don't know how he can sell cars like this... Man! epic!
Big compliment. Thank you.
John greetings from Germany. I'm italian and i think that this is the best F40 video on Yt till now . What for an emotion listening while you're driving this beast. I drove a lot of Sc but in my opinion the ultimate sc is the queen F-40. This is true love .what can i say minutes of goosebumps.
Man, the music in the backbround was the BEST EVER. Great video, thanks a lot.
Well John... yet another Fantastic example of a Ferrari F40 with an Incredible History involving not only an Amazing Formula 1 Driver but involving Enzo Ferrari himself. Wow! Thanks for sharing this incredible Car and Story with Us!
Wow! This right here is truly epic.
I really enjoy the stories and the knowledge that you have of these amazing vehicles. I do wish you would show more of the vehicle as you talk about them, panning video, stills ect. Also, some more camera angles as you drive them.
title of this should be "F40 IE: Intensa Emozione"
Thank you for another great history class ❤️❤️❤️
When first saw John from hoovie channel didn't rate him but this guy is amazing. Love to see someone get excited about a car an can see how passionate he is. Love the channel
The best kind of curator.
One who knows when to say nothing.
I salute you sir
😁
Agreed. Similar Miura SV video coming soon...
Absolutely legendary! Can't wait to visit your shop in Miami!
THIS is real car video content!!! not that load shouty branding flash BS that other car tubers sorely stick to. Hats off to you John!! youll hit 1 mill subs in to time!!! LOVE THIS!!!
That was a hell of an intro!! Loved it
Great vid John. Remember the fuss when he sold car. I was in Ferrari sales back then. Thinking it was the court case and the fact he’d negotiated in his contract a Ferrari dealership on the channel island he lived on too. In those days premiums were frowned upon by the factory so big surprise when he made the sale in the first place. Keep up the great work.
Great video and even better car!, love the Enzo Ferrari🙌🏻💯😁
Wow! I love this channel!
...chewing gum. Ha ha!
That exhaust might be some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard! Loved the intro just driving!
Beautiful cinematography, John smiled on the highway
Your best video yet mate. 👍😉
Niiice!!! Congrats for your content. You ara a great story teller.
Who keeps rewinding the first 6 minutes of this video? Watched it the first time all the way thru but the first 6 mins... I've seen over and over again. Such a glorious sound 😍
14:14 "That ginger lad" lol what a burn!!
John as a lifelong enthusiast I appreciate that you just let us listen to the car get driven, reved and shifted. The glorious pops and crackles that it makes. And also anybody else irritated by how close and careless the BMW driver was. I know i would be incredibly excited to see one in the flesh but give it some space, that's millions of dollars going down the street.
Very interesting. Great history. I have an early Mansell supplied F355. A keeper. The guy is a F1 legend.
Fantastic sound that you will never tire of👏👏👏👏🇦🇺
The F40 is the car I would love a chance to drive atleast for a brief moment. The newest Porsche 911 Turbo S is the car I would buy if I won in lottery but F40 is the one I would want to have one lap in.
Thanks for going through the rich history of the model! Much appreciated!
Two things here
1 @ 3:45 that smirk of enjoyment
2 nothing but respect and love for this type of content.
What a car!!! Congratulations on the purchase! More footage of having ur foot in it please!!!!!!
Curious fact, the first F40 manufactured in 1987 for the Italian market before the restrictions, produced more than 650hp and weighed less than 1100kg with fluids, the maximum speed of these cars was above 370km/h, and in fact the American version has no more hp than the European one, it only has more hp than the number declared by Ferrari, but all tests done comparing the European and American versions to the European ones have more hp!
John you really need to label these videos as NSFW (not safe for work). Im sitting here getting a chub listening to the glorious sound of that F40 🤤
Dear lord this might be my favorite video yet
John that is the best looking and sounding F40 video I have seen and that is my idea of what heaven is like ...........
This F-40 what a Beast! Being a F-40 alone is more than enough but the Mansell connection certainly brings it up in exclusivity. Your passion shows for all of these cars and the history they come with. I love CURATED TV.
Like it how you couldnt keep smile off your face when going on the on ramp!!😊 sounds awesome!!👍
Classy film John!
The pull and sound of that car is simply amazing!
First 6 minutes 🤤 fair play for 🤐 great video👌🏼
Love the style John, jeans T shirt with a flannel, ultimate car guy, also the F40 is just beautiful, & the sound of it, Rj in Oz
Best video of my favorite car I’ve ever seen. Felt like I was there
Such an undersubbed channel. John truly is the go to guy for Lamborghinis and the real cool Ferrari’s.
Johns drive face is something to behold especially when he's about to floor it!!! This guy is a Boss!
One of my first Ferrari's I had on my wall as a kid.
Great story! Beautiful sounds!
Thank you Great man
17:04 - of course Senna is in pole position. Miss that guy! RIP!
Authentic pops and bangs from the exhaust
Former F1 Champ Nico Rosberg has a upload on UA-cam driving one around Monaco ...he said to drive F40 was always on his bucket list!! It's a good watch.
Ledgendary car with an incredible background just mind blowing! Ignore the toxic comments I really enjoy your videos you are a true car guy. I enjoy how you tell a story all of your videos are interesting.
That intro..... thank you very much!
Thanks you so much for this review, i follow you from France i hope one day i can go to Miami and see your showroom for real.
Life doesn't get a lot better than this...
Liked this video. Should do more like these where you drive around and have the camera not just inside the cockpit but also shoot the car from the outside while it's crusing, just like how you did it in this video - it is just more exciting to watch that way.
We are working on getting a car mount for our camera to make more of this style. We just dont have an easy way to film these and we always have super tight schedules. We're going to be making far better content in the near future.
@@WeAreCurated Oh, okay - that's cool. Keep it up and best of luck for your future videos!
I had to stop the video and turn on the surround sound on my 65inch tv to continue watching.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👋👍👍👍👋👍. Thank you.👍👍👍👍!!!!!
I could have watched you driving around for an hour. I was gripping the armrests on my chair the whole time.
: )
Sometimes I just like to have background noise when chillin' out after work after the wife leaves for work (night shift)& the kid is in bed. This started out perfect it was oddly satisfying relaxing too 🥰 thank you
For a very long time a F40 going around the racetrack was my ringtone. Music to my ears.
When #AMC goes to the moon, I’m getting an F40 🚀🚀🔥🔥
Nice! Unfortunately I'm from Singapore and we can only drive RHD cars. Would be impossible to find one so I'll be getting a 458 speciale once we Apes moon.
@@Riel93 no the sultan of Brunei had about 5 right hand drive F40’s made by pinifarina
Not the best example of the F40 but still a cool car. This actual car was for sale and did not sell for two years between 2012-2014 in The Nederlands due to the fact it had a lot of owners and Nigel Mansell only owned it for a very brief period of time. Eventually sold at auction in Belgium for €690k when at the time the Rod Steward owned Ferrari F40 fetched €776k.
John is so modest when he said this F40 is out of his budget. I dont think I can ever be in the vintage car selling business because no way I can let this one go.
The smile says it all.. Respect
You don't see this around Miami much but man nothing is more Miami than an 80s Ferrari!
Nigel tells the story that when he went to Italy for the first time he liked a few bits of kit that were at the Factory including a Ducati and a Testarossa. Within days they got delivered to his house
I'll have to see in a moment where this goes from 4:00 but I had to pause there and say that moment sold me to subscribe and give a thumbs up as well simply because this is precisely how I had always thought an intro of this caliber should be executed, and it was done professionally here by this man and his crew....no over excited clowns or bozos with a trendy designer style clothing or haircut image, extremely top shelf...so far, let's keep it moving...
