Pete is a real great musician and also a super cool person. I had the chance to meet him in germany and he was very friendly and down to earth. A true professionnal 👍
More Wampler stuff! I have two of his pedals (Tumnus Deluxe & Ethereal). A third probably coming soon (Pantheon). His pedals have the features of pedals that inspired them, but the added functionalities we wish the originals had. I feel like his mantra is "This is a great pedal, but it would be better if I . . ."
Humbucking Les Paul with a plexi is always going to be that nostalgic rock and roll standard. What a great sound! Thanks for another great demo Pete, you always come up with awesome licks.
Man, what a great review! I just purchased one of these from a friend who never used it; not even one time! I took the opportunity since it is technically new. It came complete with the little drawer-string bag it comes with and even the stickers! I have zero experience with this pedal, but he gave it to me for $75 buck, so I figured it was a decent risk since they go for twice that amount, at least. I am glad I watched this video because it has given me a great idea of the potential of this mini pedal. Great video, my man and thanks for all the useful information!
Great Demo Pete, thank you! I have the 'normal' older Plexidrive on my board (and a Tumnus, after it) for years and it's great. This added boost in this new pedal actually reminds me of the JRockett Animal pedal I used to have. Apparantly Brian Wampler was involved into that pedal design as well. I like the smaller enclosure of this new one, if I need to free up pedalboard real estate it seems an option.
I don't have the Mini, but the Plexi Drive standard edition is my number one distortion box. I use a XTS Tejas boost in front of it into a clean Reeves Custom 50. Tone heaven.
Also, I had a thought during the 2nd run through of your song, I think you personify what EVH would have done if he got his start in the 90's. Kind of a weird take, but your playing attack is so EVH, I adore it. On top of that, I hear so many cool alternative inspired flavors that give me 90's vibes! Sorry for the 2nd comment Pete, just a thought!
So ah which one will work the best in a FX loop ? I run an EP boost in the clean channel loop on my old Tonemaster cause it's like Showman clean and it works killer plus one less drive pedal out front Check it out LoL 😂 Hopefully it will start trending I want an EP type boost w harmonic trem to use in the loop
@Phil Valade I haven't heard the Smallbox, but the Plexiranger stomps (pun intended) the Wampler in this case. The PR is much more plexible.. ;) Perhaps the Wampler Plexi Drive Deluxe would be better competition. The mini is just, too mini to my ears, so I shipped it back.
waiting for your review on this plexi glory. Thanks Pete been wanting a plexi and this little fun pedal is great for that. Delicious playing and sound my friend. You never disappoint. God bless.
I'd love to see you demo the Keeley El Dorado Overdrive pedal. I've seen some people get pretty close to dialing in the "brown sound" with it, with the right effects on.
Can I ask how you set the clean channel on your PT-100 when you’re doing pedal demo’s - is everything at noon, is it just your normal clean settings that you use, or do you tweak the controls on there to enhance the sound of the pedal? In fact, that would make a good video on its own - how to set up a clean channel to best take pedals!
Hi Pete, great demo and video, once again! Small question how do these newer pedals like the Wampler plexi mini stand up (according to your opinion) against the Carl Martin Plexitone dual you reviewed several years ago? Does the Carl Martin still has a place between these more recent pedals? Thanks for your opinion!
Pete! When it comes to creating grooves that are original yet somehow familiar youre on par w Malcolm Young! Why hasn't a singer gotten with you to make some killer songs?
So I have a whole lot to say about this one ... first is I don’t know the business model and don’t need to but I sure hope it is in your favor for the best demos made.... Second, and at the risk of sounding like a fanboy blowing smoke, what I loved about this was that scorching opening track - specifically because it was not a classic riff, there were some modal moments thrown in and a whole lot of melodic goodness that was not necessarily what we think of as “Marshall” - a stunning demonstration of musical creativity that showed off the pedal in a very unexpected but entirely appealing way - Third, I want to buy one of these and I’’m a Vox/Fender guy but dang ...
Would be real cool if Paul McCartney would come and pick him up for his world tour, for me that would be a good fit musically and would be a classy band 🍻🎼🍻
Dang, how can you go online while TPS is also life with a show 😁😁 Hard decisions to make... Thank god not another pedal i need due i'm a cleanish player mostly. Plexi sounds don't fit Rockabilly 😎 Stay all safe and healthy. Best wishes and happy holidays. I'm off for about 8 weeks in hospital without Wifi from Thursday on.
Love some dual plexi lead tones! Quick questions...do you somehow copyright or protect your original compositions for these videos? Have you ever had someone steal an idea?
I actually did have somebody steal an idea recently, couple of kids down in Argentina. But I pursued it and they relented pretty quick. “ we were just trying to help promote your music”, yeah by stealing my track and releasing it as your own? Verbatim? It was pretty whack. Everybody makes mistakes though, Hopefully there won’t do it again
Awesome demo!!! I still love the Xotic Sl Drive better than all these other "plexi" drive pedal though :) Just sounds most like my favorite kind of marshall tones than these others. But that's a good thing. Each of these "plexi" pedals (Wampler, Carl Martin, Xotic, Friedman, J Rocket, etc.) has their own flavor of sounds so their is something for everyone to find their personal favorite marshall in a box tone :)
I love the SL bit the volume didn't go high enough and internal switches are a deal breaker. Bummer since it has some of the best marshal tones. Is there an alternative w accessible controls?
This is definitely the "Greco Les Paul Gold Top" and the previous owner lost two pots :o) And now seriously.... It will be a local Canadian producer or a guitar after repair. I've tried using google many times and haven't found one like this. Cheers from central Europe.
@@noiseorsignal i know the Greco is in jest, but I've owned a couple Greco's in the past. I had a late 70s Les Paul and this sort of "pre full-on" ES335 copy (smaller body like a 339, but thinner). The Les Paul was the best Lawsuit LP copy I've handled (been repairing guitars for 15 years, so while it hasn't been hundreds, it was more than a typical person probably has). The ONLY issue was that it had a lacquer finish that was REALLY thick.
@@noiseorsignal i have to say that a dual-humbucker i would NOT want fewer pots. Ive owned more then a few HH guitars that came with just single Master volume & Master Tone controls that I replaced with 2X stacked pots: each for a separate pickup with the outer ring-knob for the volume and the inner for the tone.
Wow you get value for money from Pete - a new tune per test that he just whizzes off like a practise noodle. (not that I've paid a penny for his talent and thoroughness anyway)!
Hi Pete. What is the riff at 4:28 onwards? Andy does a version on his PGS Morning Glory demo ua-cam.com/video/4EM_pqQ4DRE/v-deo.html this pedal sounds great! I was interested in the Carl Martin Plexiranger but on your demo it seemed much more like a JCM/80's sound than this (which seems 'classic'). Is this right?
Andy is playing “Dancing Days” by Led Zeppelin at the start of that vid. Not really what Pete is doing here, but there’s some similar sounding harmonies.
Cool riff would like to hear some of these "Plexi type" pedals against the Black Boss Power Stack or Joyo British Emulator and/or stacked with a Green T-Screamer or Boss Yellow OD...
He always comes up with great demo songs.
Every. Time.
The Best
When you're right, you're right 👍
Yeah. He only gets better to.
Totally original ... very few tribute licks. Pete's the man!
Pete is a real great musician and also a super cool person.

Pete always does the details right, and I appreciate that extra effort he puts into these demos. Really sets him apart from most!

Based on your excellent demonstration, I purchased. For many years I have chased this sound. Thank you for this!! Killer playing and demo .
Definitely need to check this one out, sounds great at 11 o’clock gain and that 18v option really adds a dynamic.
Holy cow, every must-have guitar in one video - 335, Tele, S-type, and a LP-type. Nice!
Nice playing and really cool song. Your demos are the best on UA-cam 👍

You're right, that little thing sounds sweet, with great modes & tonal variations. Very impressed!

I loved seeing you do the 18 vs 9 volt side by side. Thanks!
Love it! Nice phrasing....oh man, early Xmas present I think 🤔 damn you Pete....A+
This is my fave pedal on my board!
Love that middle eastern sounding solo in the beginning. Very cool stuff buddy. Love the channel by the way. Cheers.
Groooooooovey progression. Killer pedal I want 6 of em

I think Pete’s channel might be my favorite youtube channel oat
Go get his albums. It's some of the best guitar you can get these days.
Pete, your playing is always stellar. The original song in intro is particularly inspired in this vid.
Thanks Monroe!
Fabulous sounds, showcased by a very cool progression!!
Oh yes I’m in to watchPete tear this up!.

Great tune... great review!
Very zeppeliny. Great opening tune.
That pedal sounds awesome and Pete rules as always Rock on 🤘
Great video, Pete! I just love the Leo Scala guitar!
Thnx pete. Just ordered one up
There was a little STP in there! Great intro jam. Per uzh.
Damn, this, the Carl Martin Plexiranger, or the Friedman Smallbox??? So many choices.
Great playing Pete!!!

According to Brian, it's meant to be a Tumnus style boost, because a lot of people already enjoy putting those two pedals together.

Brian crammed a whole plexi in that tiny pedal! Great demo Pete!!
Whether you you like it or not Pete... You're just a testing Plexi anything fool....
And a goodun at that~

I don't care about gear anymore. I'm just here to hear Pete play.
Quality demo as always Pete, great tune too.

You can't go wrong with Wampler.
Very cool sir!
That Scala LP style is bad azz

Hello Tom Cruise. I like your playing
Dang it Pete! Now I gotta buy this too😭🤷🏻♂️!!!
Nice to know that even the best players in the world don't "Play Authentic" :)

Yea I can fit one more pedal on there!
Like this man's video!
Wish we could buy a release of all the demo songs

Good job as always Pete, does this pedal, like other Wampler pedals, have that deal breaker sag with higher output pickups ??

Franz from Germany

Love that traditional mid gain plexi sound. The "hot Marshall" while great is getting kind of played out.
The xotic SL Drive is working for me.
Should i buy it?
@@Paul-dw2cl yes. I like the ep booster with it.
Agreed. The SL is my favorite Marshall-in-a-box.
