You're right! I've got over 100 vintage outboards and I have only a couple that I haven't been able to get running again. They were just built better back then and very little plastic! My oldest is a 1940 Champion Challenger 3.2 HP that I bought at a scrap yard for $29 Lol 😆. Little bit of cleaning of the carb & points and she's a running, pumping little gem 💎. My newest motors and my 'Daily Drivers' are a trio of 1966 thru 1968 Evinrude 18's and a pair of 1968 Chrysler 20's. I love the old motors 😁

You really remind me of myself but you are a much younger version of me. The extra things you did with putting the motor back into service shows me that you are thinking ahead. I do stuff like that all the time.
I have got lucky a few times when I go to buy something off of craigslist. I went to this man's house to buy a 8-ft fiberglass ladder. So of course I needed to bring my pickup truck. He and I started talking and after about a half an hour he started pulling out all different kind of lawn equipment. Most of them looked brand new. He asked me if I would be interested in them. I told him I'm not sure if I would have enough money on me to pay him for any of that. I explained to him when I go to buy something I only bring that amount with me. He said no I want to see if you want these I'm not asking for money. He told me he knows nothing about working on motors and when we were talking I told him how I fix almost everything around my house. I ended up being there for over 2 hours which an hour and a half was just loading things into my pickup truck. I really thought I was going to have to make a second trip lol. He even had roof shingles and I actually needed the roof shingles for my brand new shed I was building that weekend. He just gave it all to me. He even gave me some of the old gas tanks that actually works better than these new ones.
I look forward to watching more of your videos I do enjoy them. Again good job.

Nice job ! I found that a leak down tester is more reliable. With the leak down tester you’ll be able to see why the motor runs good at a higher RPM but won’t idle . Raising the idle setting to keep the mother running is hard on the lower unit when shifting , chipping gears and causing complete failure . Nice save for a good old Johnson motor 👍

I got a free 2009 50 mercury 2 stroke from my mechanic. Granite I had to replace the steering tube , clean the carbs and replace the water pump and lower unit. She’s running great now. She looks amazing on my 13 ft Boston whaler. Maybe one day I’ll see y’all out on the water. I live in st Petersburg too

Man seeing these dates, July 2020 and gas was like $2.00 a gallon. We were out on the water every weekend just killing it. Now my boat just sits in dry storage. Can't really afford a 300 hp jet boat anymore...thanks Biden.

It’s not Biden. It’s not Republicans or Democrats. Geez, give it a rest. It is the major oil companies EACH making 100s of $$ millions in weekly profits. Profits after pigeon holing funds for everything they can think of (future costs planned).

I'm really enjoying your video's. I have a 78' Evinrude 70 hp. 3cyl. I've had it out once since I purchased the boat (67' Glasspar Avalon) and from what I've learned from you, I'll go thru and check all.
