I just bought a 2009 x5 35D last year, so far its been OUTSTANDING. The handling, feel, and comfort are second to none. No cheap car feel here. Love the torque.

Perfect video :) Bought mine 2007 X5 2 months ago and i love it. Never been a BMW fan but now i get why people love them. Its so smooth when you are chilling and then gentle tap of throtlle and its gone , pulling like a train :D Corners like a little car. Had a Q7 before..horrible , loud rattling engine , slow gerabox and cornered like a boat. Anyone here thinking about getting X5..get it :D

Facelift has the ZF8hp transmission, which is nice and makes it drive nice, but crappy N57 engine that will spin a bearing sooner or later. If you buy one, you should do the timing chain and crank/rod bearings as soon as possible.
Pre-facelift has the old and slow ZF6hp transmission, which is a real downgrade when it comes to driving dynamics, but you get the M57TU2 engine, which will need a timing chain replacement, but still a fair bit more durable than the N57.
You should really look for one with S233A option (increased towing capacity), as those have a more durable rear diff (normal diffs tend to fail, 2nd hand is expensive too kinda).
I had an x5 e70 msport 30d for 10yrs and made every excuse not to sell it as I loved everything about it. No issues whilst I owned it other than the key not syncing one time but that was an easy fix had to be recoded... so it really was the most reliable vehicle i ever owned along with my e36 and e46 330. Great video very informative - miss my e70 although I upgraded to f15.

great car, i owned 1 for about 4 years, 2007 xdrive30i with N52 engine. had to sell it for a newer car, but still a great value

We've got the 2010 and 4 days ago got the 2016. Its a big step up with comfort etc. Love BMW until it wants your $. When the 3 year mechanical warranty expires we'll sell and get a later model and so the cycle will continue.

I got a 2011 x5 M In October with almost exactly 90k miles on it. It’s been nothing but a joy since day 1, so far I’ve only had to change the oil but am looking at some break pads soon, little things have gone wrong but nothing major !

Jedno zapažanje: ne možeš porediti obrne momente dizela sa benzincima(da li je to gt3rs ili klio) dizel zbog svoje konstrukcije će tu uvek biti superioran, kao što će benzinac i najgori biti superioran po maksimalnom broju obrtaja

Just bought mine on december 2023 great car its 3.0sd 286hp stock consumption was crazy so i chipped it to 330hp and its less now still great car for SUV it has outstanding performance i just love it pravi autic za nas balkanske mangupe😁

@@nenadjebivi8580 zavisi na kakvog naletis skoro svi sto se prodaju nisu marili za autom kako treba onda ti najebes… ja sam sa svojim zadovoljan kupio od prve vlastnice realna kilometraza i sve nisam imao nikakvih problema… redno odrzavanje nije skupo kao svi 3.0 auti.. samo gume i te pizdarije su malo skuplje jbg veci auto vece gume inace nista strasno top auto 200 na sat nit ne osjetis na autoputu😂

Thank you for or the insights but I read that the 2010 models were plagued with a lot of issues and many other sources said if you want an older one go for 2005 but if you want a newer one, then go for 2016 to 2022 or 23.
If you want the best looking one you're going to have to go for the E70 no matter what.
While I appreciate great looks in terms of things I drive, I also appreciate cost effectiveness and reliability as well.
Just to add my personal experience…we recently let go our 2012 E70…previously we had a 2010 E70…lots of torque, excellent in the snow…but that comes with some very expensive to fix issues…first…the DPF ( diesel particulate filter) that is the matter of time to be replaced…we are talking about around seven thousand dollars…the other one are the turbo ( its is a twin turbo)…we got rid of the cars before getting in to that…another four thousand dollars just in parts…the other thing is the ride…it’s not that comfortable…so, long history short…I would never buy it again…

@@market_carThe V8s and N54 6 cylinders are the ones with the bad reputation. From 2010, the N55 was introduced and that fixed the falling turbos and HPFPs. I experienced this with my old N54-equipped 335xi. My 2012 35i X5 has been brilliant in all respects in the 6 years I've had it. You can keep your stinky diesel!
I bought a 08 4.8L V8 X5 fixed all of its issues and it’s one helllll of a car I love it. Just don’t like its CCC radio unit… CIC better but still not todays modern like new cars lol

Thes are amazing. I have owned two, one went until 230k miles before getting totaled. The other is now at 132k miles and still solid. Items to look out for: Avoid the V8. The 3.0 is where it is at. Water pump will go out, replace it along with the thermostat - a PITA to do. Heater valve is easy and inexpensive.

There's no real "best" engine. Different people have different HP needs, see what you like and get it!

I have i 2007 bmw x5 e70 30d i got it new and it has 650 000 miles and i have only had engine problems 4 times
At 650 000 miles that thing is pretty much brand new, hope you break it in soon!
This is probably the best SUV bmw has ever made i have had one for 4 years it was very reliable but then i got rid of it because the transmission started to fail.

I think it's just leftover water because I had just washed the car.
I have an X5 xDrive 35i 2012. I'm spoiled because of the handling, power adn even though it cost less than a newer honda, I still look like a snob because it's bmw lol. . Cons would be insurance and the fact that you need to know a good mechanic that won't screw you. BMW Service centers will reach across you while you're still in your vehicle and put you in reverse because the know you arent ready for the repair costs.
Very well pointed out. I heard my dealer had to install an automated conveyor belt due to the volume of cars they had to send back.

It’s true. I have an exceptional 2011 35d with 154k miles, and I spend $1-2k per year in maintenance.
2008 x5 si with 210000 miles still running good
Owned several BMW’s and 2 e70’s, better learn how to work on your own car. I could write a book with all of the things I’ve fixed just on the e70. Do yourself a favor and remove the 2 little flaps on the sunroof drains just above the weather seal top of liftgate before you have swimming pools in each rear corner and your CAN line goes down because your modules are submersed… abs/dsc malfunction errors etc.

Outstanding video, unfourtunatlly many people doesn't give to much value to the X5's E70, specially here in my country, i have a rare E70 4.8i with the N62 V8 (355hp), rare here because only exist 9 registred in Portugal, mine only have 179.000kms, and recently i put him for sale asking 25k €, people litteraly mocking me in the comments, talking 💩 about the car just because "they hear" that the engine was unrelliable, "consume too much, its slow for a V8 (its N/A), its too much big" etc etc.... Unfourtunatlly i have to lower the price, here in Portugal the so called "car enthusiats" are dumb, the only "good engine" for them are the average diesel cars (120d, 220d,320d,330,335, 535, 40d etc...) but the true dumb heads only see VAG cars like Seat Ibiza, VW Gollf with PD 130 diesel engines, petrol cars here allmost discarded and, no one cares about confort, space with a big Block petrol engines, they don't know how to maintain... Or better, they are broke to maintain a car properlly so this kind of cars for them are simply unrelliable.
It's not expensive, it's just that they can't afford it.

Good points when it drives it drives real nicely in line six is pleasure gearbox 6sp a bit temperamental 8sp briliant a lot of space never ever have to comeback because something didn't fit. And that's it. Bad points electricity anything that passes current will drive u insane and inovation - can't blame bmw as idrive was something back in a day but 15 years or so later it is just onother issue causing current passing peace that does nothing usefull self diagnostic useless than it starts playing u loose radio as well. M57 the only engine choice as the rest are crap. Parts cost questionable. In not full 2 years ownership 3 recalls (there is different story about how bmw recals works or not working) it is presented as sports car fun fact anything above 1000kg is obesity and it's twice that. Heavy stearing weel why would u want one in a lorry. Agressive camber wear onothe nonsense even on air susp which primarily u
duty is to prolong the life of tyre. Running gear transfer case diffs if u start towing they will go so it is practical but in a different ways transporting your wealth away lol😂

My dad uses it to tow all the time. It's an amazing machine for that purpose. Plus, when you're not towing your car looks amazing!
Meni najbolji drug ima E70 40D LCi i dogovorili smo se da ga kupim od njega kad mu dosadi jer meni treba da vucem kamp prikolicu.Probao sam i MLa i ne svidja mi se ni malo osecaj ,kao da vozim kamion ,volan bukvalno osecaj kamionski a i motor 3.0 je slabiji od E70.Neka moja zapazanja vozeci 40d je da ima baas dosta snage,idealno da vuces nesto a i moze legalno da vuce 3.5 tone.
E sad ima malo i negativno ,imam insigniu 2.0 dizel automatik i nekako mi osecaj da se insignija mnogo laganije vozi nego E70 i sto me bas iznenadjuje mnogo bolje upija rupe od ovi nasih kragujevackih propalih ulica ,mislio sam da posto je to dzip da ce bolje da upija ali je obrnuto,ali nije bas toliko tvrd kao moj E93 M sport sa 19ticama koji ti svaku rupu prenese na bulju.
I unutra u odnosu na moju insigniju karavan 2016 mi deluje tabla nekako zastarelo posebno sa onim cajgerima pa sam mu rekao da kupi digitalnu tablu i multimediju sa apple car play ,auto onda izgleda 10 godina mladje.Ja sam kupio za moj E93 digitalnu tablu i sad je auto unutra kao da je star 5 godina a ne 15 ,mnogo lepse izgleda.
Najbolja stvar kod njegovog E70 mi je panorama,bas je ogromna i otvara se cela ,bas je top,bukvalno hocu da ga kupim samo zbog te panorame.
Ovi ostali X5 posle E70 mi se ne svidjaju spolja ,nekako mi vise lice na nekog karavana izdignutog a ne na dzipa.
Theres one thing tho - cheap cars like this e70 are loughed at and get no respect on the road. Thats a bit of a downside.

I'm on my second e70, I like them so much I went bought a newer one (2010) with more features and lower millage. These cars are so under rated.
