  • Welcome to our full review of the Hip Toe by Campbell Designed Surfboards in their epic Exoflex technology!
We were lucky enough to check this little number out in the pool at URBNSURF over a few days over a variety of sessions!
    This is a stock 5'9 x 20 3/8 x 2 9/16 - 33.3L
You can learn more about the Hip Toe, Campbell Designed and Exoflex at www.campbelldesigned.com
    BOARD SUMMARISATION
"HIP//TOE" is a versatile, performance shortboard that was particularly designed around smallish beach break conditions. Lowered rocker for speed this board also features a little added tail kick behind the fins and a corresponding hip in the planshape for tight surfing in the pocket.
SKILL LEVEL / ADVANCED BEGINNER - PRO
Best suited for an advanced beginner through to a pro level surfer the "HIP//TOE" slots in as the ideal shorter beach break board and is surfed slightly smaller at 3-5inches shorter than your standard shortboard though carrying the same volume.
SUITABLE WAVES / KNEE HIGH - OVERHEAD
Designed primarily for shorter, peaky beach break surf in the small to overhead range the "HIP//TOE" is a lively performer in all surface conditions.

Hey mate, love the review but im a little confused when you started talking fins. You mentioned being recommended a more upright fin to help with the looseness of the hip - wouldn't a more upright fin make it even more loose? Or did you find even by going to a more upright fin, having a bigger centre fin than the am2 set might have helped ?

Reminds me of Happy Everyday board. Very forgiving but lots of performance. Also neat board I just got is a T Patterson Twinthetic. Maybe take a look :)

Bit shorter and compact in volume than the Happy Everyday!
Might have to check out some Timmy boards down the track…

      Thanks mate! Um, that’s a good question…
I’d say up to around head high to just overhead!
It definitely comes into its realm in waves around waist to chest high 🔥

Hey Craig! Love your reviews and your content! Could you do a review on some DeadKooks short boards? Like their flat deck thruster? Have a buddy who swears by them and was curious your thoughts - cheers!🤙🏻

Hey! They look epic, I like the aesthetic of the brand etc, but don't see many of them on the racks or around.
I'm up that was soon, I might pop in and chat to them and try tee something up...

Great review as always. How good is the pool for board testing. If you had to have one for a Sydney summer the hip toe or the Sacrifishal? Thanks for all the great reviews.

It’s good cause you can work through issues and really know whats happening, especially with fins.
Yeah, that’s a good question - maybe the Sacrafishal. Only cause we can get done really fat junky stuff and I think the Sacrafishal has a better low end range… ✌️

Yeah, it can be, and I don’t think people realise you can get pretty smoked.
