  • Welcome to our full review of the OP1 from Christenson surfboards which is his small wave performance shape out of the Ocean Pro OP series.
    This was a custom that I got to add a tad more volume to get to 33L and felt really good in the water.
    From christensonsurfboards.com/op1new
    The OP1 is a high performance groveler for waist to head high surf. The plan shape is wide with fuller rails and lower rockers to allow the board to paddle well, and plain in softer surf.
    The bottom contour is a single to double concave with vee thru the back of the tail to allow for quick direction changes and tighter turn radius’ while maintaining its drive thru the turn.
    The recommended length is 2-4” shorter than your height.
    I checked out a few fins in the OP1, but felt at home with the AM2, but in saying that, keep an eye out for the Christenson fins coming out shortly from Futures
    From futuresfins.com.au/products/a...
    The AM2 Honeycomb designed by legendary shaper Al Merrick of Channel Islands Surfboards, is a large size thruster in the Rake template category. Featuring a balanced flex pattern, this fin's wider base provides increased drive through turns, making it ideal for high performance surfing.
    The center fin is smaller than the side fins for increased maneuverability.
    Template Category | Rake (drawn-out/drive)
    Construction | Honeycomb
    Ride Number | Balanced - 5.8
    Size | Large (75kgs+)
    Thanks for checking out the full review but be sure to do the whole like, subscribe and follow thing, but also check his out on Instagram to stay across everything we're doing @thesurfboardguide
    Thanks for watching!

    Seems like it was a tough review to put together. We always appreciate your honesty about boards (good and bad). Thanks Craig!

    Looking good this board.. Remind the peri peri chilli surfboard

      Some similarities in the outline, but the OP1 is much beefier than the Peri Peri which i remember had a much flatter deck to rail.

    Hi Craig! First off, Thank you for the review. I’m curious to your take on two boards that you previously did a review on. The Lane Splitter and the Twinsman. If you were to choose one of the two which one would you choose?
    Thank you

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey! Thats a tough one, but i think I'd say the Lane Splitter... Mainly cause it surprised me how good it was, and there was no hype about it like there was with the Twinsman.

    have you had a chance to surf the Surfer Rosa? - wondering how these two boards compare and which would suit small to medium (weaker) waves

      No, as initially the nose turned me off it! But i think i'd be really keen to check it out. But i think the Myconaut is the next CC on my list...

    Nice review! Have you tried the Future Alpha AM2's, they are great for speed generation.

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  6 місяців тому

      Aren't they a bit soft? I'm a heavy guy, so the Alphas have never really worked for me...

      @@TheSurfboardGuide I am 92kg and they are good in 1-3 foot, seem to generate speed well. Bigger conditions and I moved to the Techflex.

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  6 місяців тому +1

      @@craigduplooy6249 then on the other side of the spectrum, i find the Techflex too stiff. I can surf them in the Medium/AM1, but in the Large/AM2 i've always kinda struggled with them...

    • @TheSurfboardGuide

      Yeah, they kind of do. I think i liked the flow of a quad in the Cafe Racer with the pulled in tail. You could definitely have both in your quiver as they surf so differently...
