  • The Campbell Designed Chunky Toe features a mechanical spring in place of its stringer. What is a mechanical spring? We have no idea, and they won't tell us as the patent is still pending. But, we're about to find out if it works.

    Mechanical Spring? I call it bullshit. Even a normal wood stringer when loaded is a mechanical spring... Must be just a carbon fiber stringer or carbon fiber stringer rod they just market it to sell more boards. But hey, still a surfboard in the end of the day.

      Yup . Groove where the stringer is. Twist carbon cloth push it in and resin.

    • @decadeca1000
      @decadeca1000 2 роки тому +1

      Maybe it's more of a "springer" and less of a stringer? Bert Burger has talked a lot about these as an alternative to a stringer. Stringers were added to boards to give them rigidity and I guess that's when boards started snapping...like a green banana. Springers are more strategically placed and in theory would flex and recoil more. A lot of companies experimenting with different foams, carbon, etc to get the same effect.
