I really hope this mmo is successful, your video's and comments are the best! I'm a Everquest beta tester and veteran. The thing I loved the most was EQ was HARD alone..and raids were very very hard to win..It forced the community to get a long and work together. This game needs to be harder!
Late comment but I agree on EQ, it was crazy hard at times but mastering it felt so rewarding. Also one thing I miss about EQ and something I've never found another mmo do as well is how each class had a critical role in a party/raid. You lived and died by how well your team played their class/role. Like if the enchanter's mesmerize failed and he grabbed agro, the cleric had to be super fast on healing or a tank needed to grab agro before the whole group wiped in seconds. Or the puller pulled one too many mobs... everyone was on pins and needles and needed to play their class well. But those that did, could really shine. If you found a good enchanter, cleric, monk or bard, man you friended those guys for life. Maybe I don't miss dying at the bottom of a dungeon and it taking hours of begging other players to help get your gear/xp back though. lol! EQ is still the best mmo of all time in my books. @@ML-lf8wb one of the most generic p2w cashgrabs in history of korean trash games. If it truly would be a good game it wouldn't have 750 peak players in months :)
@@heoar12 as my comment said, the p2w and the monetization was clearly horrible and rightfully people won't play it anymore because of that. What I said is that the base gameplay is good. If you took out the cash shop or made it cosmetic only and had a subscription, and resolved bugs that allowed people to exploit the economy, people would probably have kept playing. Many people agree with that.
I'd argue that the particles need a huge revision if they're going to reduce the amount of "I can't tell what's going on right now" chaos in large encounters (ie. raids, sieges especially)... Hopefully the lower settings will give the option for smoother, softer, more transparent effects. Even in classic WoW 40+ player encounters, I'm able to easily discern spells from each other, visual clarity of players/environment, AND not destroy my framerate in the process.
Lots of things need revision and particle effect polish is definitely one of them. However, those are not things that are addressed in an early alpha stage.
Im so freaking hype for this game! never been wanting to play an mmo so much since DAoC and Warhammer Online man I love PvP/RvR in those 2 games and seeing this video really reminds me of those
Every time i start following ashes I end up thinking this is gonna be some real niche shit thats dead on arrival. Then lazypeon makes a video and it looks so awesome that everyone is hyped again!
i like how much of a back and forth there was in that siege of the defenders with the spawn point advantage, namely having their spawn point 10 feet away were overtaking the attackers only for them to push all the way to the enemy camp to then be pushed back for the same reason they did! it feels like it will take real skill and teamwork as well as coordination to properly take an enemy base!
Not many games seem to be able to get the walking and running animations right, it always looks like they're floating across the ground because the movement speed is faster than the animations :(
Not many game devs have real talent anymore. Scaling animation speed with a movement speed variable used to be childs play. People that made games used to actually be smart though, and not just meme lords and SJW's that went to online college for a year... not saying formal education is useful, but that 1 year online college is part of the douche dev starter kit.
Yep, it's really immersion-breaking. Same with jumping animations, chars jump way too high and fall too slowly to the ground. It's as if they're on the moon lol. One game that did have very good and realistic animations was Age of Conan. Nevermind the other content of the game (besides, it's beyond dead now) but I will always remember it for those nicely realistic running and jumping animations.
Looks great, but why is there so many different flying mounts in an alpha? i mean you said it yourself, only a few players can have flying mounts at a time. Why is so much energy being used on that, and not something else? I dont mind, i just find i odd and so does my friends who are all hyped about the game. :)
@@theGn0rp WaitWaitWaitWait! Are you trying to tell me that I could go out into the world, find a cool looking creature, tame it and make it my mount?!

"... I can't think of many MMOs that have real-space player housing..." That's because there is no good solution for the many, many problems with that concept. You basically end up with two extremely unsatisfying scenarios 1) Only enough housing to allow the tiniest percentage of players who want housing to own anything (like literally less than 1%), or 2) so many houses that the entire landscape becomes a grid of housing (see SWG). I love the idea on non-instanced housing in MMOs, but instanced housing is the only real solution for now.
if i remmember correctly, it was said there would be instanced apartment buildings for instanced housing. real space player house in cities will be rare
@@anlasma7942 @r nickerson Limited instanced aparments. Belive it was 50 players per apartment house. Thats how a level 3 city starts. Afterwards the major decides if he builds more or keep the house to real space.(Acording to my knowledge) The Housing limit per city is per design. Ashes is not meant for everyone to own a house in a big city. Its limited for good reason. The people owning houses in a level 6 city own high priced real estate. The benefits from owning the house in such a city/node are massive but the slots are highly limited. It means there are 2 ways for people who dont have a housing slot in a level 6 city to get one. 1.) Buy one from the marked at super high prices. 2.) Get a house in a lower tier city and siege the hell out of the next higher tier city until your city is at level 6. Its all about encouraging people to siege / sabotage / Raid each others citys / caravans. After all if the attacker win the siege, then the city will be destroyed completely. (Set back to tier 0) While the people from the city get most or their stuff back. Some of it is loot for the attackers. They also just lost their housing slot. I mean its obvious considering the Caravan PVP, Node wars, guild wars, Castle sieges, Node sieges, open world PVP and Enemy of the State. The game is all about small to large scale PVP. Its definitely not a game for everyone.
the combat is too lacking to my taste, if its not improved i don't think I'm gonna even try the game. although I'm quite tempted by the game systems (nodes, mayors and so on)
It literally just ended its alpha 1 back end test, will be a couple years until release, almost everything is still very early stages. Combat will be much different on release
I think others have mentioned it, but yeah the fact that you can pick a main class and a subclass leading to things like spellblade having a two hand option that is half melee half spellcasting would be amazing since most games relies on sword and offhand, but i agree that having a ranged version of a staff would also be nice.
mmo players are like beaten dogs, companies taking advantage of us saying "our game will reshape the genre." and a lot of mmos just get rushed out then they are trash. I just want the game to be good, that's all I want.
well they plan on having instanced apartments and "freeholds" as well, they intend for everyone to have a real world plot, if not an exclusive in city house, amd beyond that, apartments for the city u declare citizenship of

Out of curiosity, what makes transmog ruin your immersion? I find people use transmog to *increase* immersion, seeing that they can override the usual clownsuits games tend to put you in. (That said, I play on roleplay servers exclusively in games, and with those comes the etiquette of immersion being a priority of course.)
@@Sanguivore try answer this question. Has there ever released an MMORPG with transmog in it that could take home 10 million players here in the west ? Edit: and to answer your question, i just don't feel immersed when i see Kittykat bunny ears everwhere i go
@@savedforever Transmog doesn't automatically include cat ears and stuff like that. Transmog is just the ability to make your gear look like previous gear that you've earned. If a game adds cat ears to that list, then that's its own problem entirely separate of the implementation of a transmog system. As for your question, I'm afraid I have no idea what it means. If you're asking if there's ever been a Western MMO that includes transmog that has/had over 10-million players, yes; WoW comes to mind (and it doesn't have cat ears and other things like that). Guild Wars 2 also has a transmog system and has over 10-million players. I'm sure there's at least one other.
@@MuhammadHosny0 I'm gonna assume you haven't played WoW. There's not a cat ear transmog in sight in that game, or any other such anime-related stuff, and it's the most popular MMO with transmog. The same can be said for ESO's transmog system as well. I can't personally vouch for Guild Wars 2 as I don't play it. Again: transmog is *just* the ability to make your gear appear as other gear that you've unlocked the appearances to. If a game adds cat ears, that has *nothing* to do with transmog itself-it's a separate issue.

The best housing I have seen in a game was in Ultima Online (UO)... nearly 25 years ago now. Everything since has been lame. In UO people could break into your house and take everything if you lost the key to your house. You could open a teleport to your house in town and lure newbies thru the teleport to your house then trap them, kill them then loot them. Houses would decay if the owner didn't play much so just walking around in the world you could come across freshly decayed houses and loot everywhere. So much so you would have to call in your friends / guild to help grab stuff.... fun times. I really have never understood why newer games have not reproduced the UO system.

Sieging a castle and being able to pull a dragon onto the castle or onto the attackers to distract them is amazing
Miss playing that game and the friends made on it!
Man I'm hyped for this game, a lot of aspects reminded me of Archeage!
Let's hope the devs will not be the same though :]
Me to man getting those same archeage vibes....i haven't been able to find a game since that gave me the immersion archeage did, fuck that game was fun at the start such a shame it turned to shit
@@22jaydn Yes! I agree! Best fun I ever had in open world PvP was Archeage 2014 - early 2015.
@@AlexGorskov yeh man and the trade pack system made things so interesting made you have to have alliances with other guilds and people to even get around your own factions lands without getting robbed, shit it was even exciting to build your house in pvp territory trying to build it before someone ganks you foe your wood pack
@@22jaydn Good times! I played a law-abiding farmer but then got banned for no reason (remember TRION banning ppl for no reason?). After that I created a daggerspell and just went full PK mode, killed everyone, even my own faction. Brutal, I know, but man it was fun. Best world PVP/PK I ever experienced since early 00'.
Just signed up (read: paid LOL), to get access to Alpha 2 and onward and super excited based on your reviews! Can't wait to get online and check it out. Really enjoy the commentary.
The siege really reminded me of Archeage good times... amazing
true i fucking love aa
You two are talking as if Archeage is a good game 🤣
@@heoar12 Archeage as a game is excellent. The monetization is not. I think this is pretty universal consensus at this point.
You make every game you like look awesome!
Thanks for your content..
There will more than likely be options to toggle things or reduce effects.
Gandalf with a machine-gun 🤣 I love your editor!
Peon: literally, no mmo has worse swimming than bdo
New World: Hold my beer
Im so freaking hype for this game! never been wanting to play an mmo so much since DAoC and Warhammer Online man I love PvP/RvR in those 2 games and seeing this video really reminds me of those
"Any game has better swimming mechanics than BDO" Clearly hasn't tried to swim in New World
Very impressive so far! I am so excited!
I already love this game. It's exactly my style.
3:49 LMAO dude you just made my day >_
Every time i start following ashes I end up thinking this is gonna be some real niche shit thats dead on arrival.
Then lazypeon makes a video and it looks so awesome that everyone is hyped again!
Your first statement was correct it will be niche and relatively dead
@@deadcaptainjames6045 incorrect and will age poorly.
i like how much of a back and forth there was in that siege of the defenders with the spawn point advantage, namely having their spawn point 10 feet away were overtaking the attackers only for them to push all the way to the enemy camp to then be pushed back for the same reason they did! it feels like it will take real skill and teamwork as well as coordination to properly take an enemy base!
Maybe its just me...the world/art style looks like an improved Rift which I don't personally think looks good...
dude this is looking awesome for an alpha! I was not impressed by this game so far, but this changes things, I'm really looking forward for it.
This is awesome, I can watch LP for hours. It is so chill and the commentary and editing are excellent and funny. :) 🤘
Looks great, but why is there so many different flying mounts in an alpha? i mean you said it yourself, only a few players can have flying mounts at a time. Why is so much energy being used on that, and not something else? I dont mind, i just find i odd and so does my friends who are all hyped about the game. :)
To test?? Remember anyone can be mayor and be able to fly a mount if that dedicated.
Daaamn, really looks impressive. I like the art style a lot!
I dont like how the mounts seem to be more fantasy then any mob in the wild iv seen so far
All mounts will be able to be found in the wild. But not all mobs will be able to be tamed and turned into a mount. Some are store exclusive.
@@theGn0rp WaitWaitWaitWait! Are you trying to tell me that I could go out into the world, find a cool looking creature, tame it and make it my mount?!
@@lightbower5826 Yes! Mounts will have stats, you can then breed mounts to get one with even better stats.
the gandalph with the ak got me good. Well done
I love how smoothly this game is operating already - in its first alpha stage it already has less lag than WoW and New World with more people on screen. Fucking can't wait for Alpha 2 in 6 months to a year from now. :D
B I G D A M A G E !!!!! Great video as always!
Full action combat is what i want from an mmo going forward.
New World is the best Action MMO right now, the bugs and content are all balancing
Awesome video! Love seeing ashes content
@@anlasma7942 @r nickerson
Limited instanced aparments.
Belive it was 50 players per apartment house. Thats how a level 3 city starts.
Afterwards the major decides if he builds more or keep the house to real space.(Acording to my knowledge)
The Housing limit per city is per design.
(Set back to tier 0)
While the people from the city get most or their stuff back.
It looks rough but feels like a lot of fun.. ! Looking forward to more ! :D
I mean its and alpha it would be strange if it wasn't rough
Eventhough I agree with flying mounts being pretty rare, only 10 flying mounts per a server is actually bad...
Nice vid , Craig! Fucken love you , brotherman!
the combat is too lacking to my taste, if its not improved i don't think I'm gonna even try the game. although I'm quite tempted by the game systems (nodes, mayors and so on)
It literally just ended its alpha 1 back end test, will be a couple years until release, almost everything is still very early stages. Combat will be much different on release
it's in alpha........
I think others have mentioned it, but yeah the fact that you can pick a main class and a subclass leading to things like spellblade having a two hand option that is half melee half spellcasting would be amazing since most games relies on sword and offhand, but i agree that having a ranged version of a staff would also be nice.
Looks surprisingly good, but if there are melee classes they need to seriously buff them so it's not just gonna be a Harry Potter game.
every time I see more of this game I get more and more keen
mmo players are like beaten dogs, companies taking advantage of us saying "our game will reshape the genre." and a lot of mmos just get rushed out then they are trash. I just want the game to be good, that's all I want.
I like much better fighting big enemy groups than one big boss monster. That figh where you were nearing the enemy base as you said, looked good.
The issue with real-space player housing is after the first week everything is claimed and nobody else gets to enjoy it.
well they plan on having instanced apartments and "freeholds" as well, they intend for everyone to have a real world plot, if not an exclusive in city house, amd beyond that, apartments for the city u declare citizenship of
Ah didn't know that. I'm not very researched in Ashes of Creation, just didn't seem like that in the alpha.
Nice to see TLP enjoying a game. Its been a while.
Why do mmo’s always have some ugly playername fonts ? everything looks beautiful and then those names
new world doesnt have that. the text looks good on there.
ffxiv doesn'T have bad fonts ... neither WoW ... wtf are u talking about ....
@@francoisturgeon1176 they both have ugly af fonts with disgusting UI. WTF are YOU talking about?
@@Dzeaz Ah yes New World they look quite nice indeed
@@francoisturgeon1176 ffxiv has horrible washed out frames. its what keeps me from playing it. to each their own though
Looks really fun! I loved the jumping puzzles in GW2 so it's cool another MMOs is doing those.
i backt on kickstarter many years ago i can test te beta. but it looks nothing what the promised
Enjoyed your coverage on the alpha so much ! hope I can play with this with my computer spec, even on minimum..
Can't wait to see more functionality on the towns..
I HATE the white border/filter/whatever that thing is when you run. Seriously, who thought it was a good idea or cool?
probably steven being an archeage fan and all
Apparently it has or is being removed?
@@MixMeister5000 If so, that's kinda great. I know this game is Stephen's brainchild but it's good to see that if the community universally dislikes something he's open to changing his vision.
Staff for melee would be cool if it can combined with melee spells, that are short range, but hit harder.
Totally agree, I think the staff should be both ranged and melee when the target gets close and it does both magic and physical damage.
I hope to GOD there is no transmog in this game. That would literally ruin the immersion for me.....
There is.
As an American (with a fairly heavy NY accent) I find it more pleasing to listen to narrations by people with accents from England, Australia, New Zealand and other English speaking countries, but I am pretty sure that it doesn't work in the opposite way for people from those places :P
Flying mounts are a mistake, limiting them creates elitism that only streamers and Guild masters will get.
thats the point.... they are not meant for everyone, not everyone can be a 'winner'
@@korefighter It will have no positive effect on the game.
Just a handful of streamers and guild masters lording it over everyone else.
Skill won't decide who gets mounts.
Asmongold will have all 10 mounts on one server.
@@GrimJRS it's not meant to be *skill*. It's meant to be a collective, if people promote streamers or prominent figures to a point they have access to mounts than that's the community's work at will, that's exactly how the Dev wants it to be.
@@GrimJRS in reality there is no *skill* on these types of games, there is theory crafting and time. Being able to influence others or manage a high profile guild and the inter guild politics that gets created from that is where these *rare* mounts should sit.
Or you can have it like WoW, where everyone has everything and no one has nothing and the entire game is just black and white.
LOL the 6 pack comment. I remember questioning that every video after you went on about it
I'm more hyped for Blade and soul 2. That's what I call a next gen mmo.
Isn't that a mobile game??
BnS 2 is cross play with mobile though, so they will dumb down the combat to compensate for mobile. And the new art style is generic Korean mmo.
Wasn't that a mobile game? I'm hyper for the EU4 remaster of Blade and soul pc tho.
they fucked it up mate... remade it on mobile, change graphic and lessened combat.
Except its only being released in Korea
I won´t even lie. When i saw this game on your older video about ashes of creation i thought it was to good to be true, so i started follow videos about it and the progress and how the game will look like, and then i thought damn this game will fucking suck man... And now watching your video, this game looks real smooth and nice damn im glad for your video!!! Appriciate it bro!
Ps, Im jealous you live in thailand, im going there the summer of 2022 for the second time! Amazing place;)
I cant believe anything this guy says after the last couple reviews were so poorly done with wrong information.
