Still gonna ban her every time I play midlane. No thanks.
@deranged_miyeon_stan How do you know that ? All of the issues came out at the same time on webtoon and the story looks to be finished with the fourth issue
Funny how her father being gone is part of the lore than longer than it took him to return. Also, the guardswoman that cuffed Lux and tried to protect her from the other guards is a card in Legends of Runeterra. Her ability is that she arrests an enemy.
Now all I can hope for is a voiceover update for kat. No more just bloodlusted voice lines and "better dead than dull" hopefully more character interaction and lore related stuff.
Swain voice line after collecting a soul fragment from Katarina: "He asked her to do what she could not. To kill me." He could mean her father asked her to kill Swain but she failed. And Swain knows this from his demonic powers, similar to in-game
14:33 To be fair, I'd also believe someone would dislike mages if the place *they ruled over* was anti mage, and they did nothing to change that. Actions speak louder than words man
This, it gets to the point where the "this ruler wasn't that evil, he wanted to change things BUT HE WAS REMOVED BEFORE HE COULD DO THE GOOD" argument doesn't work anymore. Why Azir didn't tried to change things before for the slaves- if Arcane Heimer becomes canon, why he ignored the underground citizens and civilians who suffered on consequence of "progress" until someone revoked his vote- Why the Demacia's king didn't implement a rule, made a letter or something before hand at least to make mage lives less bad. I know change and stories have to start somewhere but you can't call someone good if all they had were unfulfilled promises that gave plenty of room for someone else to put in the actions for a radical change in the worst way posible.
@@luzmariaguerrero7378 I get your point. But looking from his perspective. It is not that easy to change a hierarchy just like that. If the majority of people think the same thing about mages. Changing something may cause even more trouble and casualties.
@@luzmariaguerrero7378 as for Azir. I don't want to sound as an asshole but when running such a big empire BUILD on slave labour getting rid of all slave at once will actually cause alot of backlash. It's a progress thing and Azir was trying to get rid of slavery. Just look at actual slavery and how long that took for it to disappear
@@luzmariaguerrero7378 Because it's not about "good" and "evil". It's very complicated and involves a lot of different motivations. Changing how entire nation works in one day is not easy. Even if you are supreme and only leader, you still have aristocrats and nobles who might disagree and rebel if you do that. That's why Azir was waiting for his Ascension to do that. I know that people love paint everything in black and white, but reality just doesn't work like that.
Azir had a benefit of waiting for something to happen, when he would ascend he would have actual manifestable power to command change. King Jarvan was close to dying of old age and Sylas went through his whole life while mages were discriminated
It will be interesting to see how Garen and Jarvan will react to Katarina. She saved Lux but murdered Jarvans father, so Im interested in how those events will affect the relationship between them all. Im also eager to see Kats reaction when she finds out she was lied to about the king.
I'm LITERALLY crying cuz last night on the phone with my friend I LITERALLY said "I miss hearing Necrit reading me league lore" like this is oddly my comfort place. The world of Runeterra. Riot is just the corrupt pope getting between me and my religion.
I loved this comic so much, I love they are finally giving Katarina the spotlight again, I love how they turned her into an interesting character with a very engaging personality, I love her face resembles Sarah Michelle Gellar in some way, giving her badass energy by default, I love the way she's the one unwillingly setting up the huge revolution in Demacia by killing the king, I love they way this story sets up even more stories with her with the possibility LeBlanc is involved, I love they 100% chose Katarina for this instead of LeBlanc herself bc that's the way she's gonna end up in Demacia and metting Garen, expecially after saving his sister !!!! I really missed this feeling about LoL content, this was soooooo well done.
Just to mention this: After Arcane Season 2. They should start porduction of the story of Ionia. The conflict between Zed and Shen, along with other stories that tie to the events. Another reason why I say Ionia, is because Fortiche's art style would look amazing with Ionia's environment.
This gave me goosebumps bcs of how godly all these reveals are.. I have always wanted to know what happened after lux comic, but it was painful how Demacian lore kinda died at the biggest cliffhanger in history
My real name is Katerina so I have a soft spot for this champion. I'm really glad to hear about this comic and I'm excited to read it!! Riot being nice to my Katarina
Man I have mixed emotions. On one hand GARENXKATARINA is my second favorite ship, on the other I don’t think it would be in character for Garen to be fine with the woman that killed his king
There's no way they are scrubbing the Garen/Kat ship. If anything, this comic is making her a character that Garen could fall in love with, as her faith and determination in the people and ideals of Noxus mirror Garen's of Demacia quite well!
They’re setting up for some good ANGST when Garen learns the truth about Katarina, and has to choose between keeping her secret or telling Jarvan IV, his king and his friend, the truth about his father’s death
Okay so here's my theory : - Swain didn't swap Marcus for Katarina, Leblanc did it, using Swain's sigil (she did something similar in the past sending Samira searching for Rell) - Leblanc can't be Markus. As good as she is for taking someone else's appearance, she doesn't steal their physical strengh / knowledge, she wouldn't be able to whoop Kat's butt in a fist fight (we know this from Garen's comic where Garen finds out Leblanc is in disguise by her not knowing a demacian saying)
Necrit, im disappointed you didnt mention how the Piltovian device really assembles a Totem, and the good ol' Sonic Screwdriver. It even pick locks and makes a buzzy sound :(
i just saw it on the website and wondered "does necrit know?". came rushing over and of course he already has a video up! thank you so much for your love and dedication bro!
Necrit, you are giving Talon way too much respect. It's not that he couldn't kill Katarina, it's that he messed up his speedrun strat and salvaged the run, but left just before the end 'cause he didn't get a PB.
I like how you got excited for the lux reference to read issue 3. A lot of comics well marvel that I've seen always have those bubbles saying read "issue 77 of whatever."
There were hints that the king wanted to make peace with the mages? Why didn't he grow a pair of balls and ordered the Mageseekers to stop their hunts and torture, then? He was in control, he didn't try to do a damn thing. Katarina has my respect for killing this asshole.
I think it's another Azir situation, where he said he would do something, but took too long that people just gave up. Azir wanted to free the slaves, but he took so long that Xerath rebelled against him. Really goes to show that leaders in the league universe are very flawed, even if they "seem" perfect.
According to the lore, Jarvan III actually did send out the order to the mageseekers to stop the persecution of the mages, mere moments before his death. He gave the letter to Xin Zhao to deliver to the mageseekers, but was killed after Xin Zhao left his side. The only person who read the letter was Jarvan IV, who took the letter from Xin Zhao after his father’s death, and upon learning about the intentions of his father to free the mages… burned the letter. He wanted revenge for his father’s death, and not even his father’s orders could change his mind. With all that said though… yeah, it was too little too late anyway. While Jarvan III ultimately changed his mind and realised that the mageseekers were the true danger to Demacia, it definitely didn’t undo the years and years of persecution that he personally oversaw.
I don't think Riot will ever let either Swain or LB die, which sucks since it would have been cool to see them try to get rid of one another with real consequences. Thats pretty much what keeps the lore back in my opinion
I agree in principle, killing off characters makes things much more interesting and unpredictable - which is very important for story telling. But imo incredibly important characters that connect everything together shouldnt be killed off, especially when their deaths wouldnt advance anything to be more interesting, than them existing (Swain in my humble and biased opinion, is one of the best written characters that connects all of Noxus together and makes it make sense) - so instead i would advocate for less important characters whose death could advance the story of another character - for example Kassadin and Kaisa, imagine if they meet up, have a father-daughter moment, and then for example Kaisa dies to a void creature, it would make Kassadin have a great character arc in seeking revenge (this could work for either of them dying tbh) and it would advance both of their stories and make them so much more interesting. There are other such examples but you get the point im trying to make hopefully. When removing a character from the story it needs to be done with purpose, and the changes it pushes shouldnt be less interesting than what the lore is without said character being removed. A great example outside of Runeterra would be Boromir from LotR, his character completed his arc and wouldnt have been interesting to keep around, but his death pushed Gondors lore a lot further, and the fellowships story became much better as well - not to mention keeping people on their toes due to a seemingly important character dying.
@@FallenGranny But if they kill Kai'sa then Kai'sa community wouldn't be happy... No one would love to see their character dead in the lore. Since LoL is a continous game and people can and will play Kai'sa until the end of time. People would get mad and they would lose a lot of money.
@@raidon8470 killing off a character in lore doesnt mean they get deleted from the game, besides lets be honest, i would say that less than 20% of the community even know that League has lore and are interested in it - so how many people would it actually affect? if they continue on with never ever killing off their characters it will become more and more boring for the few who actually do care, every new encounter that literally any character has will automatically end in either a minor setback that doesnt even matter, or the character winning - what is even the point. Also a character death doesnt mean it would make the players sad, it depends on how well it is written and how much it is referenced/has consequensec on other characters. For example, the newer stuff they did with Aatrox and Xolaani actually got me hyped for a moment, but then i remembered that Aatrox is a character (and one of the best ones they ever made) so he will automatically win, or have some small and insignificant setback (like losing physical form and being trapped again for a while - like nocturn/viego). There is no suspense, no intrigue - what will happen if Ryze uses the World Runes, could Kayle be consumed by Xolaani? nah none of that will ever happen, just some extremely recently made side characters will be defeated or permanently killed while the rest continue on. It really ruins the immersion when a characters plot armor is thicker than Gragas. Lack of meaningfulness in stories ruins them and makes them far too predictable, that is why for example Marvel is struggling very hard recently (besides very many other issues), who wants to watch a movie where you know that the good guys will always win?
I always forget that technically Talon and Cassiopeia are siblings. I know they're both Katrina's sibling individually but since they never get any interactions together, not in game, not in lore, not even in fan created content, it's like they're complete stranger to one another
About the last point of Marcus being Le Blanc, I think thats a bit hard as Kata lost to Marcus 1v1, this would also mean that Le blanc can get/use assassination skills/skills in general on par to the ones whose body she possesses.
I mean I wouldn’t fully put it past her. She’s been running the empire of Noxus from the shadows for centuries I imagine assassination skills would be useful in her endeavours.
And I'm worried for the quote "you either die a hero , or Ling enough to see yourself become the villain" , Raum that demon inside him is corrupting him.
I agree, if all of these goes to the long awaited Garen-Katarina canon interaction and potential romance, I'll buy 10 copies of the game for me and my friends. They already gave fans Caitlyn-Vi, Graves-TF, Udyr-LeeSin and Nidalee-Neeko relationships. I hope Riot just give us the Garen-Katarina, please!
I liked what you said about katarina calling J3 a tyrant as misinformation because that was the part that hurt me the most when reading it (especially when you realize that were the last words he had to hear from a foreign assasin no less). But one think i'm calling buls**t in the comic is the part where the crowngaurd soldiers without hesitation decided to kill Lux even more so when captain Arrika orders them to stop, that was absolutely insane and in no way is that realistic.
Her seeing Talon as a true adopted brother she respects as family makes the deadly dynamic even spicier. Studying history has taught me that familial ties make politics more bloody. Not less. Though it does make me want to see Kasadin and Kai Sa reunite a family without any fights from presumptions and confusion. How many champions have killed tried to kill, or regularly battle their siblings? Hecck, if we consider the two main war mothers of the Freljord as brief sisters by choice, that's another pair on the list. So she finds a compromise that meets her duties and protect the state while letting the old man have his wish. I approve. The Tea house tells me that Noxus didn't just take treasure, life, and balance from Ionia, but adopted some ideas. Mind you, in a more imperial appropriation, but it's a nice touch. A nation is usually changed by conquest and takes on ideas from their subjects/victims. One could argue that Noxus needs strong enemies to keep its focus, that the Freljordian tribes would grow to a formidable power by absorbing the Demacian remnants, or that the Demacian line of succession and control by the military would ensure a swift retribution. Or trying to actually remove the noble families to make the message about full embracing of Darwinsim stick without unearned hereditary power and wealth. That is also valid. Oh, saving his baby sister is a good way to get on a certain captain's good side. Sort of. Still at least they're doing something with these characters. [glares at shyvana being off to the side when she is a perfect chaos element to make things exponentially spicier] "What kind of death... deserves" This is a neat touch for characterizing an edgy assassin. It leans into her profession while simultaneously humanizing her. And it shows she's no fool. Learning more about a target can be far more valuable than a quick kill. 13:57 oh no. This is going to make things more complicated. I also had very high certainty that it was a mageseeker seeking to prolong the oppression of mages. Though perhaps that is how Swain learned of the safe rooms to inform Katarina. Tyrants in court who'd commit treason before allowing reforms. Regardless, this sets up room for her to feel guilt over this when she learns the late king's true character, and for Garen to be enraged over the man he willingly served being killed by the woman he loves. 16:11 Ah heck!. A principled patriot in an imperfect world can be a very compelling character.
I think Talon being adopted still works in this comic. It would explain why his hair is black, and why he is so attached to the approval and emulation of his dad
I gotta be honest when I say I liked the Varus comic better (Darkin lore simp) but I gotta say that the Katarina comic was amazing. The way it ties into the Lux comic is great and we FINALLY GOT TO SEE MARCUS DU COUTEAU! KATARINA'S DAD. God I was so curious about that guy for the longest time and honestly he's not as much of a dick (from what we saw of him at least) as I thought he would be. Though this comic does make me wonder about Swain and the demon Raum. We haven't really known a lot about Swain to begin with, but it seems like he might just be losing to the demon. Then again, Swain plays 4d chess with Leblanc on Tuesday nights, you know that one lady who orchestrated Noxus' creation and Mordekaiser's second death? Yeah, her.
Doesn’t Pantheon also sort of imply some type of relationship between Kay and Garen in his voice lines? I could be wrong, but I think it was something to the effect of, “Battle is a dance, and the fortunate find their partner”. Again, I could be wrong.
Gotta give this video a like now, even though I will go read the comic first cuz I know I'll watch this later and discover new things I will miss😅. Thank you Necrit for all your efforts

She is not just "sexy assassin lady like knifes and kill people", I like that.
P. S. Still gonna ban her every time I play midlane. No thanks.
kat loses to most midlane matchups and if you just want to hard counter her, pick yone zed or galio

I hope they keep making comics
the next issue is set to release on tuesday
Me too 😢
@deranged_miyeon_stan How do you know that ? All of the issues came out at the same time on webtoon and the story looks to be finished with the fourth issue
Funny how her father being gone is part of the lore than longer than it took him to return.
Also, the guardswoman that cuffed Lux and tried to protect her from the other guards is a card in Legends of Runeterra. Her ability is that she arrests an enemy.
Is it captain Arrika?
@@AppleBaron I think so.
She's also kind of a dick towards Shyvana and the Dragonguards
REALLLY????
@@ibarrabara I double checked, it is her.
Now all I can hope for is a voiceover update for kat. No more just bloodlusted voice lines and "better dead than dull" hopefully more character interaction and lore related stuff.
It was really cool to see Captain Arrika as well! She’s a LoR card in case people weren’t aware.
Swain voice line after collecting a soul fragment from Katarina: "He asked her to do what she could not. To kill me."
He could mean her father asked her to kill Swain but she failed.
Why Azir didn't tried to change things before for the slaves-
if Arcane Heimer becomes canon, why he ignored the underground citizens and civilians who suffered on consequence of "progress" until someone revoked his vote-
Why the Demacia's king didn't implement a rule, made a letter or something before hand at least to make mage lives less bad.
Just to mention this:
After Arcane Season 2.
Haven't read the comic, but Talon might still have been adopted. Katarina just grows closer to him and sees him as her own natural brother.
ya in comic talon did say she was next to be heir now so
@@callofbrokendreams Really curious why Cass isn't inheriting it if Kat won't.
@@yuxie3048 cass locked herself in her room

My real name is Katerina so I have a soft spot for this champion. I'm really glad to hear about this comic and I'm excited to read it!! Riot being nice to my Katarina
I’m so happy that Talon is getting attention. He’s been my long time favorite assassin character
Look, i get it, this story was about Katarina and all that. But just those 2 Talon conversations are a huge W for Talon mains in character development
I mean, the guy had almost nothing before this so yeah, definitely a win.
I never expected to see Katarina lore to be honest. Love what they were doing with her here. Also that is 100% LeBlanc speaking to her lol
As a kata main, i can't describe my happiness . my baby girl finally got some lore
Honestly the plot twist in this comic wasn't something I expected and I wonder how Garen is going to react with her.
Man I have mixed emotions. On one hand GARENXKATARINA is my second favorite ship, on the other I don’t think it would be in character for Garen to be fine with the woman that killed his king
@@mistercleff8819 Shh! Don't tell him!
@@mistercleff8819 and the woman that saved his sister.
@@scotthawkes74 I will tell Garen!
@@jerichoex Ixnay on the urdermay!
There's no way they are scrubbing the Garen/Kat ship. If anything, this comic is making her a character that Garen could fall in love with, as her faith and determination in the people and ideals of Noxus mirror Garen's of Demacia quite well!
Also saving one's sister must give some brownie points.
They’re setting up for some good ANGST when Garen learns the truth about Katarina, and has to choose between keeping her secret or telling Jarvan IV, his king and his friend, the truth about his father’s death
the crownguard dating the one who killed the crown..... preatty ironic if u ask me
Okay so here's my theory :
- Swain didn't swap Marcus for Katarina, Leblanc did it, using Swain's sigil (she did something similar in the past sending Samira searching for Rell)
- Leblanc can't be Markus.
It even pick locks and makes a buzzy sound :(
i just saw it on the website and wondered "does necrit know?". came rushing over and of course he already has a video up! thank you so much for your love and dedication bro!
its good to have you back with lore to talk about!
Webtoon just recommended this for me this morning; it was a good read.
I believe in the background of one of the scenes with Kat's father we still see some of the Swaivans, which really had me like "heh?"
Fun fact: the name of the general in the beginning of the first chapter, Rache, is the German word for revenge
I know they're both Katrina's sibling individually but since they never get any interactions together, not in game, not in lore, not even in fan created content, it's like they're complete stranger to one another
They probably were not close, also kat and cass dont have interactions, they probably dont talk to eachother, probably never grew close
The comic is not finished yet. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Kata wakes up on a ship with swains raven and it smells like shuriman something or other and jasmine... Its LeBlanc. Has to be.
I love more Swain lore so much
And I'm worried for the quote "you either die a hero , or Ling enough to see yourself become the villain" , Raum that demon inside him is corrupting him.
Something not mentioned is that Captain Aricka is in this comic too, she is a character introduced in LoR
I afraid that Necrit already forgot about her. He's lore lord, but he does forget shit time to time, or misinterpret alot.
I may be too lazy or I just love your storytelling. Really appreciated.
I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO TALK ABOUT IT!!!
Thank you, Necrit. It means a lot.
miss this videos >.< FINALLY NEW LORE!!!
Crazy that I've just read this like a week ago and I love it!
17:20 u can see this side of her on legends of ruenterra when Braums asks her for help
She is the best ❤
I agree, if all of these goes to the long awaited Garen-Katarina canon interaction and potential romance, I'll buy 10 copies of the game for me and my friends.
They already gave fans Caitlyn-Vi, Graves-TF, Udyr-LeeSin and Nidalee-Neeko relationships. I hope Riot just give us the Garen-Katarina, please!
The lore of Runeterra is really entertaining, I can't wait to get more and more sources for it outside of League.
Bro came back from the dead only to try outsmart Swain 💀💀💀
Garen and Katarina are only canon in different skinlines, but that does give us, shippers, hope, that it might become reality
[glares at shyvana being off to the side when she is a perfect chaos element to make things exponentially spicier]
"What kind of death... deserves" This is a neat touch for characterizing an edgy assassin.
"Your finale will be a duet"

I do really hope that Garen and Katarina ship sails after so long, but hey, more lore and Katarina's one to top on that? Always good.
Yeah, her.
damn so many reveals!!!! story is being pushed and i love it
I can't believe they actually made like Katarina. She finally has a character other than "if you run you can't see me stab you"
After all these years, it was Katarina who killed J3. Well damn, thats quite a twist.
The lore is getting more and more interesting.
Doesn’t Pantheon also sort of imply some type of relationship between Kay and Garen in his voice lines? I could be wrong, but I think it was something to the effect of, “Battle is a dance, and the fortunate find their partner”. Again, I could be wrong.
As TB Skyen's chat preaches: Everyone is Le Blanc!
"I Was Not Expecting That, But I Was Expecting Not to Expect Something So It Doesn't Count"
I loved Arrika part, she is a folower from legends of runeterra for context.
even Lux has a voice line about Garen and Kata.
I love how this comic makes swain looks like an evil person who works for the good of noxus
Now we're waiting for chapter where Garen starts pursuing Katarina and falls in love in her.
i wish this story arc was a netflix show / third person 3d game, how fucking cool these assassinations would look animated or playable
omgg this is so good, i hope she doesnt die afterwards ( if they continue the comic storie) also i love katarina really good summary of this
Lol lore is what got me into league I hope they update more stories
Jhin's league voicelines also references garen and katarina. I vaguely remember the words "star crossed lovers"
and suddenly the video EXPLODES
Gotta give this video a like now, even though I will go read the comic first cuz I know I'll watch this later and discover new things I will miss😅.
Thank you Necrit for all your efforts
To he'll with Demacia , I have never been more Happy to be a Noxian lore fan YES!!
Imagine fighting garen as sylas and in the last 3rd kata just jumps in and tag teams with him 10/10 bossfight in my opinion
When is part two coming? Chapters 5 and 6 are up and it seems more will follow. ^^
2 new chapters just came out today, really good
I really hope Arcane S3 & 4 features characters like Katarina and/or Leblanc 👀
At this point, if they made Talon family by blood, it wouldn't be of any issue. Want to see more of the sibling relationship between Kata, Cassi, and Talon.
And almost forgot to mention how good this comic was!!!! 🙌
sorry you're telling me that someone at riot remembered the existence of talon ? i am amazed
If The Mageseeker features Garen and Kat meeting, I will buy the ultimate edition bundle

Very excited for the prisoner romance between Garen and Katarina. I am WILLING it into existence.
And, to confirm, Talon is adopted.

@@LordM_Hankannon lol harsh!

we need a ryze update badly and would love a jedi fallen order type game where you play as ryze collecting all the world runes, or even have that a major story plot of the MMO
I think the part where kat wake up in the ship and is all strange around her is cause she is trying to undertsnd where she is without open her eyes, so is like let the reader know the she is understanding where she is only by sounds and smell + the crow being here cause demonic power
Oh lol i wrote about it on the last video, guess you beat me on time😂
