I am blessed Robert, there are many, many, ways to envision what fishing is about and for. Fishing has never been about catching fish to me. Something I try to teach, and in the video I did with Peter, oddly. That is something that just follows our experiences. Imagine, teaching the Saints to fish.
Hi Jerry, Today was a fish hunting day. You're right about moving around to find the fish. We shore fishermen need to keep moving to find the fish. Hopefully you find some on your next trip. Take care and good luck, Mickey
Yea always have to move around on some scale. Striper you can do it on foot, herring by driving. Really the same thing. A nice way to fish just sip a coffee between the stops. thanks always Mickey
Hi Jerry. I made the same circuit and found nothing except for a few near the Verrazano along the highway. Saw several guys fishing and I stopped at the small parking area. One guy had two or three. Several guys fishing the 69st pier and nothing there. Still hopeful. I’m going to do my yearly New Year’s Day herring fishing. They’ve got to show up soon in better numbers. Also just want to thank you for all your videos this year. They kept me going when medical issues kept me grounded several times during the year. Hopefully this year we’ll bump into each other along the way. Happy holidays Jerry to you and yours!!
Hi Mike, you just backed up what I was telling people they seem to be coming down the east river or up? Drove by the 69th street pier some back ago and seemed to be catching there. Glad I could be there for ya it means a bunch Mike Thank You
LUV YA JERRY!, Thanks for the tip, No scat, no scales , no sign, ...... but ya did say 6 times, "shoulda brought my fly rod for bass" !! Happens to me too, bring the fly rod, 20 knot winds, leave it home, flat and calm, but at least you're out there covering ground !! Happy New Year!!!!
Thanks for doing all that footwork Jerry! I came up to NJ from VA for the holidays, but was so busy running around I didn't get a chance to scout around for herring! I hear they are just off shore.
Yea, some reason I am the guy that does the footwork for people be it what it is in life. I figure if I didn't who else would. If not people would disconnect and things would fall apart. It is a nice way to make a day.
I like your thinking on using a lure in place of a weight on your sabikis, it`s something I do when I`m deep sea fishing. It makes sense to do because if you`re fishing for macks and herring, blues and stripers will be there too. I typically use a 2 oz. Bridgeport, Hopkins, or Kastmaster, even a big mack will hit them. If blues are in the area use a steel leader between the sabiki and the lure. Great video as always, nice bait and tackle shop as well... too small for gimmicky stuff so these little places use their space for what works. Peace and brother love to you and all.
Yes Magnolia Bait and Tackle is really well stocked and catered to the angler and Justin is full of fishing know how and happy to share. Thanks always Jay!
Cool video, boy it was calm out there. My son got his first Crappie ever Sunday morning, the bite was definitely on then. And this video was great for someone like me. It was kind of a good fishing forecast. If you would have shown piles of scales at one of those docks I would have piled the kids in the car and gave it a shot. But if it is still quiet out there I can think of something else to do w them until the herring really push in. Thanks 👍
Hi again Jerry. I was wondering, have you ever made a video about your Mitchell reel? I recently inherited my grandfather's Mitchell-Garcia 302 which is all black and my grandmothers' Garcia GK-22 which has more of burgundy or maroon color to it. I noticed that yours seems to be black with a slight hint of blue? Or is that just reflection? Have a good one.
Been a while mate , I learned how to tattoo and was stuck on that for a while but the fishing bug bit me again I had a great last couple weeks catching good fish and shark, I also discovered the aiwa coronet mini !!!!!!! considering buying on of the 5 available on Ebay , have you tried one???
Hai Jerry, hope you had a nice xmas. Fishing is always trying sth and hoping to catch. Maybe next time St. Peter will be nicer to you.

Looks post-apocalyptic out there. All those spots usually have tons of people on a nice sunny day. Thanks for posting!

Happy New Year Jeff! Love the old Mitchell!

Thats the 410 better then the 300 faster gear ratio. Both are super love it. Do have a few video up on em!
