- Big Triggerfish & Porgy - The ROBERT MOSES FISHING PIER - Fluke, Blowfish & Sea Bass. There were tons of sea bass, big blowfish, fluke, sea robin, big porgy and trigger fish at the Robert Moses fishing pier. Bait fishing is the way to do it right up there in the light. Clam or squid will do you good. I like the mystery of the bottom. I have visions of passing fish of all forms and shape. Hoping these waves hit my line. When baitfishing monofilament line is often the way to go. I can tie my hooks and drop my sinker right up the line. You can not beat hi-low rigging but sometimes a 3 way rig is the way to go. Know you knots and you will have the chance to catch anything. The simple complexities of life are good.

I have caught thousands of fish from Moses, many were snappers and blowfish & surf fished the beach to the left of the pier. Great video and great place to fish, with the swimming beach on the ocean side.

Hey Jerry, Love that pier for fishing...when I was at Farmingdale, my last class ended at 10:30 on Fridays...packed the gear the night before
...fun time with lunch and dinner packed in the cooler...use to fish at night for eels, giving them away to whomever wanted them...lost a couple of flash lights too...Cheers

I tried today with clams and shrimp and all i caught were blowfish, small black sea bass, fluke and sea robins....is there a special technique in catching triggerfish? Should i stay still and wait for bites or should be playful with the bait by jigging?

I have a similar playmate in blue! Parents had it since the late 80s or so, maybe earlier. Love it as my bait cooler.
Absolutely right about the simplicity and fun of bait fishing. You never know what you’re gonna catch. Dinner porgy or big big striped bass. Very relaxing way to fish and have fun. Thanks as always for uploading the good stuff and tight lines!!!!

Yep! The worst is when its on single pic mode lost a few good moments cause of that but a nice shot of the reel handle! May have to try that sheepshead thing one day never caught one sounds interesting! Thanks so much as always SSA!!! Tightlines!
What a brute trigger! Always enjoy the mixed bag bait fishing trips. Hope you've been enjoying yourself out there. It know I have sure have. Did you see that 15 lb fluke by the verrazano???? Holy Moses! ... Well robert Moses in your case lol I've been catching loads of fluke and not one keeper yet...... 🤔 Did get some Spanish mackerel lately tho early a. M. . Water was gin clear today and watched big striped bass make loops into the beach lip but couldn't get one to participate in some fun. They seemed to be in pairs. Did step on a fluke today wading lol damn thing was big too. Maybe one day I'll bring my waders lol I enjoy wet wading too much at the beach... Just gotta dodge these big purple moon jellies and the half a dozen species of crabs that get pissed at your toes! Always the best to you Jerry! Cant wait to see where you end up next!

Hi Jerry, I fished the bridge at Turkey Creek and caught a 12 inch Mangrove Snapper. There were Dolphins around and that slowed down the fishing. Have fun and good luck, Mickey

Nice video, great spot, haven’t been there yet this year ,gotta swing by, I keep hitting a spot that’s a little closer to home with just as much life minus the Triggerfish, haven’t gotten one yet. They are always a random catch for me. I am good for at least 1 a season but always unexpected. Can’t wait to get one. Got my first real “ Snapper “

Tried going here today but the parking near the dock seems to be employee only and lot 3 said closed. Is lot 3 normally the place to park?

As usual a very entertaining video. I have scouted those piers in the past and have seen Big Stripers cruising close to those very same piers but have not been able to catch any. On another note , i would like to know what kind of watch are you wearing. Is it water proof ?
Thanks Joseph! The striper can be tricky off them piers. night can be best for them. That is a casio it is waterproof works great!
That looks like a fantastic fishing spot, some day I'll have to drive down and this would be nice to try.
What pound ande on the seaboy, I have some 20# big game on mine but something about having ande pink I a old Penn that feels right.

Yea it happens but it moves. Stagnant water is another story

@@FishYourWay I have seen a sign that says fishing pier but never drove that way. I usually just keep going to captree and go on a boat over there. I’ll have to follow the sign next time and see if this is where you were in this video.

Thank you! Yes, captree is a very good pier to fish. You can work with the current there drift along the bottom in the rips probably the best way
@@FishYourWay I'm thinking Carolina rig with some Gulp..cast up current and see what happens. I know it used to be more productive when the lights actually worked. Bait fish would congregate there and you could pick off some fluke. I'd love to see you do a video there!!

Its useually empty till the open free parking people drift on after 4 but still there is a bunch of space and big piers, it was a fun gambit of fishing thanks Alley Kat!
