      They say the only way people can stand to listen to hard truths without becoming defensive & refusing to accept them is if they're delivered through comedy. You can't ever tell anyone in a serious way that none of their relationships will ever have a good ending without them hating you. But deliver it as a punch line & they'll pay for tickets to hear you say it.

    I have a theory that the reason I was a huge fan of Louis CK growing up was because other comedians were aiming to get on HBO or SNL whereas Louie just completely gave up on any hope of fame and just said whatever he felt was real and honest. And after his fame he maintained the standard of realness. I think he mentioned his writing process in an interview with Stephen Merchant.

    • @cat.batshon
      @cat.batshon Рік тому

      BTW Louis Ck was being real and raw, while also constantly testing out his real and raw material in small rooms and dealing with constant bad feedback. Its not an easy process, its long and tedious and it brought Louie a huge backlash when he was secretly recorded testing out new bits and many people on twitter were angry at him.

    • @SurajPunjabi-er1os

      Ummm...he did NOT give up on fame. What Louis did was create his own medium. He is one of, if not, THE first comedians to sell his own shows and specials on his own website, on his own terms. So he could pretty much do or say anything he wanted without any care in the world. There was no big corporation pulling his strings and shit like that.

    Nothing good lasts forever. How many of us are still friends with our 1st Grade best friend? Or married our high school sweet-heart?
    This time four years ago my friends and I parted ways. And after a little soul-searching I came to realize two things:
    1. There isn't a lot of advice on how to deal with friendships breaking up. But looking at romantic break-up advice can be helpful, but you just have to water it down a bit.
    2. It's all about balance, boundaries, and communication.

    A dog mass grave is every bit as depressing and awful as it sounds, Louie basically describes the plot to Detroit: Become Human, where a discarded android comes back to life after being thrown onto a scrap heap after being presumed dead, returns to take revenge.

    So true about being 41, divorced, 2 kids and then you try dating someone new. It’s nothing like when you were 21 and dating and nothing like you were 31 and getting married for the first time. At 41 you both know relationships are compromised and not great - just desperation because being alone is worse. So you can be a couple or miserable and alone…

    It goes both ways, I would imagine. Anything that makes you sad gives appreciation to what makes you happy. But everything happy does come to an end. Depending on circumstances, it could be a catch 22.

      George Carlin did a bit how when you get a new dog, you need to know upfront it's not going to end well.
      My little guy is 15, can't hear, takes thyroid medication, enlarged heart, suspect liver cancer. He's still got some life, he's not really suffering, but I know his time is approaching. I'm just hoping he goes in his sleep cause brining him to the vet to be put down is going to be horrible. I can honestly say I love him more than any human I've known, alive or dead.
