Louis C.K. had one of the most infamous public shaming events of any comedian out there. And it's definitely changed how he interacts with the world. But he's learned how to accept what has happened and how to move forward.

I Saw him in a small club, with about 250 people, in Bergen, Norway. About a Year and a half after being cancelled. His first sentence was "I used to do arenas". and the roof went off.
I think the use of cancel here ignores his history of taking his dick out in front of women and masterbating for years and years. Most people go to jail for that kind of shit. He got away with it because he did it around comedians and he had power in Hollywood for a long time.
I know I would have a hard time finding work and not being a sex offender for doing what he did. Fuck that dood. His career took a dive for gross ass behavior. I hate when people use that cancel shit for sex offenders.
One thing about this interview that's fucked as well, is they make this all about CK. Not the women he masturbated in front of. It's a sob story about being held accountable but not really because he's famous and has millions.
Did anyone get hurt? How did they fix it
@@Blernster wondering the same exact thing. The timing of the roof blowing away/collapsing just as he makes his first joke is insane .

Gotta hand it to Louis, he has changed everything about himself in the past 10 years. Except that shirt. He's been wearing that shirt for 10 years.
I think it might have been more than 10 years
I sense a lot of love in that))) from you, mate, to Louis - and from Louis to that shirt)))) I remember him coming once on Conan wearing a smart suit, maybe it's just me, but looked like he hated every bit of that experience)))

Nice!!!! Glad you’re doing better. What did the stroke teach you
Laughter is the best medicine
Had a stroke > watched Louie all night > cured
Louie single-handedly saved this man from a stroke
Ironically, having a stroke is exactly what got Louis in trouble.
Glad to hear you’re good now buddy.
At the very beginning of Sorry when he walks out and is greeted with thunderous loving applause, there's a look on his face of extreme gratitude as if to say wow, what the hell did I just go through and thank you for being there on the other side.
Tom has to be looking across the table thinking “so that’s what I would look like with glasses” and her mind is thinking 🤔 😂

@@aliteralgoblin lol no the consequences to people's overreaction.
I see where you're coming from. He did face very severe public backlash though, in a way that anyone who is not famous would not. Would you consider that as right?
@@anon24423 I believe the backlash you receive from your misdeeds are proportionate to:1 your 'reach', 2 your standing. With reach, I mean how many people know you/are interested in you- naturally a public figure has a wider reach than a small town waiter. With standing, I mean how much influence you have- again, a public figure has a lot of influence, just like a teacher, a doctor, a lawyer etc. The backlash LCK received is proportionate to that. Had he been a small town teacher, the whole county would have lashed back.
Came to say this exactly@@aliteralgoblin
I think public shaming via the internet is something that's still very new and also a punishment within itself. In the past you could do something bad but not every single person in the world would know - you could make amends, be better and move on. Now especially for high profile people it's harder to do that. Not to mention the negative health effect of being shamed on that big of a scale - not that it ouweighs what the victim went through but it's still something to consider
Saw Louis a year ago in San Diego. no frills, just going for 90 minutes. Standing Ovation.

@Darth Vader Said the guy writing controversial "no"s under comments cause he doesn't get any social interactions irl.
I was reflecting recently on why it is that it can be so difficult to forgive yourself, and I think it has something to do with how others don't actually want you to. It's interesting how most people will say they believe forgiveness is a virtue, yet when it comes time to actually be forgiving, very few seem to be willing. It's vastly more attractive to condemn others, because that way, even if only implicitly, you're putting yourself above them. That's not to say people shouldn't be held accountable for their bad behaviour, but when you insist that they suffer for it indefinitely, you're in essence demanding a standard of people that you wouldn't even hold yourself to.
Fantastic comment
Beautifully written and though out! Thank you!
yeah .....forgiveness and accepting the consequences of your actions are two different things . Two million cases of workplace harassment a year in the US alone and many of those harrassers lose their jobs in spite of doing less than louis ck did so .........you want ALL the abusers to get their jobs back ? Completely agree. There is a weird vibe of them talking to him like he didn't just kinda naturally meet the consequences of his actions. I think there's an interesting and real conversation to be had here with a person who did something f*ucking dumb, and is smart enough to know it, but it just isn't happening. It's all "wow, yeah, wow..." It really cheapens his appeal.
@@GCKelloch It's a little more complicated than that. If say, your boss pulled their cock out and said "wat up" you'd be concerned for your job depending on how you react and so your ability to give natural, equal consent would be compromised. “This new version of life is harder”
What I’m currently going through. Trying to accept the view that has been made from the changes I endured. I have to remind myself daily that life is different now. I can move on.
He’s totally right! I messed my back up and it changed me and my life forever.I contemplated suicide a lot b/c of physical pain, emotional pain.It felt like my life was over, and it was over in how it had been.I just had to learn to accept that this was my life now and I now can only do what I can do and that’s it.I had to shift my dreams, expectations, etc to fit my current version of life the way that is is VS how it had been, and it made me a stronger, more resilient person..
So sorry you had to suffer through that.
I had a nearly identical experience 12 years ago, and it almost broke me. It took years before I was able to approach the quality of life I enjoyed before my back injury. Fortunately I was able to adjust and come out stronger in the end with a newfound appreciation for how fragile life can be, but it was by far the hardest thing I've ever endured.
I'm glad to know you made it too, and I wish only the best for you going forward.
If you ever get suicidal again, you can always try meth (I wonder how "four strokes" work for women...) or heroin. Why end your life depressed, when you can at least postpone it till the money dries up? :P
On a more serious note you seem to have a passion in music, which should carry you through the dark times. Just take all that negative shit and convert it to music form. I personally play black metal, so negative stuff drives my creativity up, and once I have a riff of certain feeling it seems like it's lifted from me and is a memory in a music form. It's like exorcism, where you take the feeling out of you and put it in a riff/song.
Cheers from Poland, Sarah :)
I don’t know the extent of your back pain & what you have tried, but I had chronic back pain for years, and it is hugely debilitating, but depending on the severity of your injury, there are things you can try that will help you. I’ve gone thru PT, I’ve tried a tens unit, I have an inversion table I use every day, I get massages, and it took a doctor who was extremely knowledgeable to ask me, “Show me your daily yoga regimen”. I showed him & he said, “You’re addressing the extension, but not the flexion aspect”. I did that & I’ve not had any issues since I’ve incorporated certain exercises into my morning routine. Surgery can be invasive & make it worse. So don’t give up, is what I guess I’m saying with this long winded post 😅 There’s hope…

Also, many people don’t undertake shadow work, and can project shame onto others, rather than doing the inner-work to look deep within and love/accept/forgive the parts of themselves they’ve rejected. It often takes a crisis to propel people to this level of soul-searching. And I respect people who’ve undergone this journey and shared their experience, thereby helping others to open up and heal as well.

So never mind he is a sexual predator. Right? Anyone who seeks sexual pleasure through power or leverage in place of a balanced relationship that includes legitimate consent is a sexual predator. I get it, he is sick & deserves to have people acknowledge that its an illness, but to simply ignore this as if being an entertainer is that important is part of this celebrity worship culture. Mike Tyson the rapist gets to do the media tours as if its just a thing that happened in his past. If these guys were not famous none of u would want them as neighbors let alone speak of their actions in this benign way.
@@friedricengravy6646 Louie not rapist! Kobe, Michael Jackson, Cosby etc. are rapist. But Louie not rapist. He is just a stupid about public masturbation!

If Louis ever feels like he doesn't have a support group, he should just spend a few hours reading UA-cam comments about him. From the very beginning, it's about 85% of everybody saying, "Okay, that's kind of weird, I don't care, I forgive him and who gives a shit? When is he going to start doing stand-up again?"
People like to talk about enlightenment and how wise you are etc.... that's all more pompous ego bs
Louis just nailed it... it's simply going from believing it's a safe world to knowing it's not
Hopefully he realizes he took that feeling of safety from others too. And that he made them feel ashamed.

Why on earth is this man being treated like a victim? If any of us did what he did at work we would get whiplash we’d be fired so fast. No second chances, no redemption tour, ass out the door. Good luck finding work in the same industry, ever again. He was ashamed because whipping it out in front of unwilling women is something any man SHOULD be ashamed of.
I guess you were there and know exactly what happened. Good for you.
@@tzimiable I didn’t need to be there. We have the testimony of the women, and after some initial lies, Louis CK admitted it. If you want to deny it in the face of all evidence, that is entirely your delusion to manage.
I really appreciate you giving creeps a platform and making them out to be the victim. Thanks for not believing in anything.
Yeah it is weird. I remember friends at the time saying “I don’t get it. what’s the big deal?” It’s a big deal. It’s using position. Example: I like to make art and have artists (both men and women) I look up to. I’ve even met some of them. I’m a guy tho so it’s easier for me to say “I’m a fan” without anyone thinking I wanna sleep with them. Woman can’t do the same. It’s just abusing power. I don’t think his career will ever be the same again and he lost me as a fan. UA-cam lead me here from a Pete Davidson joke about him lol.
So he got his pecker out. He asked first 😂
The bots are taking over.
Aside from being a comedian Louis CK has so many brilliant things to share
Sure, if you don't know what "brilliant" means.
You didn’t even watch the video
"He's so insightful"
"He has so much clarity"
Wow @how unsurprising that this comment section is one big circle jerk!
I for one am shocked a bunch of dudes online are being insensitive misogynists
Exactly, it's (actually) surprising to me seeing this much "look the other way" attitude, in this comment section.

Poor louis, had to sit around with his millions for a few months because people got mad at him on the internet.
They're talking like he was battling cancer or some shit.
“Look at this” *points at his armpit instead of his groin* “Lettin it all hang out”
Any time people are given power it seems like humans always want to push boundaries.
Latest example of having it all (white, young, handsome, straight, rich, famous, etc.) and squandering it: Armie Hammer ...having it made with things coming easily gets boring and you push boundaries.
Louis is such an insightful and intellectual human being, I think alot of his deep insights are actually lost on the comedy audiences.
As a father of an autistic child, I know better than most that tomorrow isn’t going to be better, neurotypical parents think they have it hard and yet they can get away with having this irrational faith in the future - and they ignorantly call themselves atheists 🤣
We are all shamed in this life. If you havent been, you will be. Often when you least deserve and expect it.
Super cool that he can just “accept it”
Too bad that the people it really affected have to think about the harmless tiny thing he did to them that changed their entire perspective on life and their careers forever.. I miss him too but maybe after someone corners him and forces him to watch them pleasure themselves so he can understand how that makes someone feel we can start healing.. idk maybe I’m feeling vengeful but a little empathy goes a long way.
Totally agree! I can't imagine how scary that would be to be in a room with him and worrying what day it would escalate to rape. What he did to innocent people who worked for him seems forgotten. He's not the victim! He is the perpetrator.
Louis did nothing "to" anyone, as there was consent.
Also, Louis did not "corner" or "force" anyone to do anything.
Your choice of accusatory and deliberately false language reveals your dishonest agenda.
Do you think that your own experiences makes you entitled to promote this kind of sarcastic innuendo?
You're cancelled, Rachel.....

@@denimchicken104 oh shit! I guess I just never looked at it that way before. Thank you so much for commenting and helping me see how wrong I am.. I’m over it now 👍 phew
The whole thing with him being canceled is wild cuz if you listened to his material, I mean REALLY listened, you knew something was either happening or bound to happen. Some of his material just comes from too dark a place for there not to be something going on behind the scenes. Still love his stuff though, just wasn’t remotely surprised.
The dude in the background laughing had me dying.
These two obviously love Louis so they won't be hard on him, but I think it's very weak they don't consider the victim's side. I don't think it should be so hard for him to take more responsibility. He doesn't really admit that he genuinely hurt these female comics. He does seem to take accountability in his initial apology statement, which makes me think it was disingenuously written, as he doesn't voice any of that here, when he so easily could.
My thoughts exactly. At the time I thought it was a sincere and thoughtful apology, and the first step on the road to redemption. NONE of that in any of his subsequent work, statements, interviews, anything. Makes me wonder if it was just written with or just straight up _by_ some publicist or manager doing damage control
And it's a shame, because he really is such a talent. Love his comedy
Sounds like he learned something, I just hope he doesn't see himself as just a victim. That said, what he was "cancelled" for wasn't something to be proud of, and he should feel some guilt over that, but holy fuck, the world needs the perspective of a Louis C.K. now more than ever, let the man breathe.
"Give me a path forward to return to your good graces or give me death."
The problem with cancel culture is that the mob is wholly uninterested in redemption. Person does something bad? Just delete the person so they go away.
The coach of the Memphis grizzlies is actually a really thoughtful interviewer
lolol
Nothing is real in Hollywood, apparently, not even this guy's cancellation after he's admitted to all of it.
He never did anything to anyone without their consent, so why should he be canceled?
@@troybleskachek7114 So all these women asked Louis CK to expose himself to them?

He made sure to ask IF he could do it, not if THEY wanted him to do it!

More rather than less women gonna get abused cuz of " Louis " . World divides up into those who understand and could give af about that and those who don't and couldn't.
Taken on its own, I'm a fan of Louis CK's humor: it's insightful, raw, and real. Nevermind some of his brilliant and convention-challenging writing. He truly has a gift. And ok yes: we're all human; we all make mistakes, sometimes huge ones. And public shaming can be a truly life-scarring event. And I do appreciate the fact that he has owned up to what he did, and at least seems to conceptually understand the "predicament" (to use his exact word) that his behavior created for women that he had power over. I have my own small amount of experience with all of that (from infidelity, not harassment). But there is an ocean of distance between admitting/understanding something (in part because he had little choice if he wanted to salvage his ability to perform) and actually doing the work of self-improvement and responsibly addressing the damage done. To me he seems utterly lacking in remorse or empathy, though as he says that's public perception, and only he really knows the private side. Cheering from willfully ignorant fans should be small consolation. I'd like to see him directly make amends with these women (and/or the challenges for female comics overall); though our legal system doesn't make that easy, admittedly. Dave Becky has some things to answer for as well. The Southern country boy in me wonders if a good old-fashioned ass-beating for both of 'em is called for, in addition to our more civilized answer of a healthy payout from each to the victims. If he's half the man he has the pretense of being he knows it's due. The fact that the world now knows his kink is the just dessert of his own recklessness; it doesn't mean he's squared up on the damage caused to these women's careers and sense of well-being.
Nice interview with Richard Jenkins.
He can't even talk about how painful it is for himself to live his life as he says not safe to talk about, at least publicly....... meaning he'll get hammered and set back any forgiveness people have of him, for thinking of himself. But we all know that he has to heal himself in order to live every day but he's just not allowed to talk about that publicly.
He's so starving to feel good that he puts his hands in dirt cause he knows nature wont judge him
I get his gardening experience is supposed to be inspiring and wonderous... but the way you worded that last phrase just made me bust out laughing.
Am I missing something here? He’s making a comeback, good for him; doesn’t matter to me. But to say I got to feel sorry for him because he got publically shamed, screw that guy. Throughout this whole video, he’s making himself the victim in this whole scenario. Claiming he was too open about different aspects of his life. Say what really happened, people found out you were jerking off in front women. He says he didn’t think about danger in the world, again placing himself as the victim. MF he was the danger in the world. He has great comedy, but it’s obvious he’s a egotistical asshole.
