    So acouple things in this video at the time we did not know the car had been fiberglassed and undersealed but in fairness it was still very solid car but it did need sils and some jacking points.
    As for me keeping it my situation has changed since I made this video and Cup cost me way more then I ever imagined it would so it will be sold to get my money back!
    Hope that clears things up.

      My second car in 1978 was a 1974 V8 3500 P6 in tobacco brown. Just like this, I sold it a few years later for the SDi V8. The SDi was like junk in comparison they kinda lost the build quality, and definitely, the doors never closed like the old ones. I miss that old monster, so much lol.

      Yeah I agree, how stupidly amateur of them. Bet the owner was spinning in his grave. Moral of the story folks, move anything & everything from around the vehicle before attempting to move it. Don't be lazy, or you'll just end up damaging it and that will cost you more time and money in the long run.

    In the 70s I was lawyer training with a solicitors in Hertfordshire. I had only recently passed my driving test and had to go to St. Albans Crown court on short notice. I didn’t have a car so the senior partner told me to take his Rover TC auto which was the same colour brown as your recent acquisition. I had never driven an auto or a car with power steering! I felt a million dollars.

    The dark brown paint has helped it survive too , I’ve noticed this on other cars painted in that colour (including rover p6’s) that I’ve liberated over the years - great find . That guy was DEFINATELY a ROVER man! 🇬🇧

    I live quite near Cheadle in Cheshire and took the train there one day to collect my car after having some work done. My route from the station took me right past what must have been these cars, spread around a suburban garden at the end of a cul-de-sac I think it was. They obviously caught my attention - this would have been a few years before their sale. It’s fascinating to hear the back story and to follow the restoration.

    I'm sure there must be a medical condition for buying cars and storing them until you don't have any more space to store any more. I think I have the same problem but only have a double garage that only has two vehicle, one of those is a P6B. There was a guy who lived down the road from me, had a Rolls Royce parked in the front garden and five other cars in the back garden, also had a couple of lock ups with some Jags in them. As is the norm, he died before any of them ended up back on the road. Just something to think of if you have ended up in this position. You can't take them with you, someone always has the hassle sorting out your business after the grim reaper calls.

    • @doveronefoxtrot4417
      @doveronefoxtrot4417 2 місяці тому +5

      Plenty of folk do it though don't they. The biggest problem here is that Sheldon wants to restore all of these with good intentions. Nothing wrong with that. But the reality is that he doesn't have the finances to do it, these cars are big money to restore, several thousands is not an exaggeration. He also has no workshop facilities, and you cannot restore a car by the side of a road. So most people that have this status will likely just store them.

      @@classic_britain It's been in the garage 17 years, working on it now, should be on the road in August or so. It's a series 1. 1968, number 825 off the assembly line. My daily driver is a 2015 Land Rover Defender but it cost me £12.50 every time I move off the driveway. The Rover is ULEZ exempt as it's classed as a classic vehicle and is also MOT and TAX free. Now Khan has got back in for another four years, expect fee to go up to £15 plus very soon.

    Very difficult to store cars this long in an unheated concrete garage. You may have a fighting chance to keep some level of condition in a car if you park them on cardboard sheets and possibly even surround them with cardboard. This is because concrete causes condensation in prolonged cold weather. But very long term car storage would probably involve some for of heating...
