"....stupidly rare Tryplex roofs..." ...stupidly rare pronunciation. The Brand of glass was named TripleXXX. VERY common on British cars' glass for donkeys.... Obviously pronounced as spelled.
No need for your foul language.
Have you passed your driving test yet?
You need to put the fuel gauge wire to earth as you did the oil pressure wire to see if the gauge/ wiring is ok, it’s not live, cheer’s good luck
Rolls had to do that kinda stuff to there cars to
I am also lactose intolerant too and rapeseed gives me alarming gut trouble too. An yes it has screwed what I can eat, adding a violent onion intolerance.
get a reflective tint for the roof.
Why is it you can’t drive on the road ?
I have a 1970 NADA Spec P6 3500. The under bonnet light is factory. The braking system shares many parts with a USA spec Jag XKE. he dual system Master and slave cylinder are the same as well as the power brake vacuum booster. Moss Motors here in the USA has all of these parts. I put the ZF trans into my as as well. It made a huge difference. I have a 4 liter in mine with a 4 choke Holly carburetor. The air conditioning is wonderful here in California in the summer. Lots of video about my car on my channel EJH British Cars.
hahaha I know we have spoken before on your channel!
Sheldon you would be deep in it if it wasn't for old school David wish he lived up my street lol you owe him more than a pint or 2
Its a great looking car. Plenty of people have modded all cars across the years and it makes no difference whats been done just so long as its safe. Better a classic than a Euroblob
Love it... Hope it gets the restoration it deserves..
David sounds very much like badger from wind in the willows, seems a knowledgeable gentleman ☺️
Nice cat! 🐈⬛
Aww a little v8 10 seconds later... 😈
Super sedan?
Great progress Aron, I'm sure it won't be long before it jumps in to life. Top work again by David
Thought his name is Sheldon
Good job all concerned mate.
I hope you don't babble as much when the camera isn't on, i couldn't work with someone rabbiting on as i was trying to think my way through fixing something. I get more done when left alone 😐 but that's just me.
David is clearly Compo Simmonite’s younger brother.
I feel sorry for Dave's good works and wonder if you should really be messing with a classic car it reminds me of trying to help a friend with an Austin a couple of years ago he totally did my head in and I'm hoping you're taking dave to the pub for pain relief
Excellent progress hopefully hear it burst into life soon
It's like Columbo abbreviated version " just one more thing !"😅
Try putting the pump straight to the battery to prove it out
We did pump fucked
Told you in first place you wouldn't get ignition until alternator was plugged in ...
According to Reg it should not effect it.
Yes it does mate , unplug it and I bet you won't get ignition again. It needs alternator to complete ignition circuits
Put a carpet on the roof for dave 😂
A great video. I do like American as well as European cars, so getting a NADA P6 would tick both boxes. Its trying to find one which may be the challenge
I may of missed this in a previous video but how did the P6 end up in the state you bought it in? It was obviously cared for at some point so just interested to know how it wound up in a sorry state? Great work, hope she’s running soon!
Excellent video 🚗🚙🚘👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Aron you'd better give me a bell when you get a chance.
David keeps trying to sort the problems out and it's getting there now wat a bloke you would be stuck with out him I'm sure he will get it running soon you owe him a drink all ready 👍
Like David's compo hat.
Don't worry guys David was paid in vast amounts of tea he was a very happy man!
get Dave a pint of the good stuff.
Taken care of!
Very interesting and well researched piece.
Very nice can't wait to see it running
Zamac.
I had a Rover 2300s, I really loved that car. It was just beautiful inside and out, unfortunately the 2300 6 cylinder decided to stop its cam from spinning. Which wiped the bottom of the timing belt. I took the timing belt into the dealer and the gentleman looked at me and said, and I quote, you're going to need a lot more than that mate. I still miss that car!
These were my dream cars when I was a kid. I never thought I could ever have a car like that. Happily I eventually did have a few good cars but never the Rover
Lovely car and lovely on efi
There's a rover like green one on car and classic restored for £21000
All the modern cars around it, whilst not exactly ugly, are just dull and samey. But the old Rover, beautiful and stands out. Clearly a different era with different priorities in design. Even the American additions are tolerable. Obviously a mild accident in that Rover will cost your family a lot of money, as funerals aren't cheap. But at least you'll look cool whilst the brakes fail, that's if you can even get that thing to go fast enough for that to happen. It's the thing with old cars, they're better looking than modern ones, but considerably less safe and, perhaps thankfully, a lot slower. But who needs speed, safety and practicality, when you have retro style. And better still, it's classic racing green, a colour you just don't see these days. I'm jealous of people who get to own, work on and drive such cars. I'd definately make some changes to it, modern brakes is a priority if that hasn't already been done. New suspension (it's already looking low, but it can go an inch lower). Remove the US spec bumpers (I'd leave them off if it isn't breaking any laws. I like the chrome, but cleaner lines without them), and keep those rims because they're nice, just tidy up a little really. Don't repaint it, I like the pettina of old paint and metals, it gives character, just clearcoat or something to protect what is there and have it gleaming. Kinda keeping it looking as old as it is, used but looked after. Keep it looking driven so that you're never too concerned about damage to not drive it, because there's nothing worse than a classic like that being left to sit in a garage collecting dust, that's when they finally die. I'm sure you're on that page already but worth saying, drive old cars, it keeps them alive.
I never understood the Kenlow fan thing - always a popular option. I had both the 2200TC and the V8S, and neither overheated. And as for saying that the P6 wasn't designed for the V8, it wasn't designed for the 4 pot, either. It was designed for the gas turbine. The V8 was made of aluminium and at the time perhaps people were worried that - if it did overheat - it would warp expensively, a common problem with the Shag, but never, in my experience, with the Rover engines.
Sheldon get David to run a live wire to the POS+ on the coil, That will back feed and give you ignition on the car, It will stay running until you remove the +POS feed. All the Best.
When I saw the comments on your last video I was shocked at the number of people willing to condemn this car just because of wiring problems. The wiring on old cars is basically pretty simple as it's all individual circuits, unlike modern cars with CANBUS and loads of control modules that require expensive diagnostic tools..
Forget the negative vibes, the car is more than worthy of completing and the wiring isn't the headache people are making it out to be, get the p6 wiring back to something that it should be, the engine harness the same then marry them, the car loom like all old car looms will have been gotten at over the years, its taking it back to standard then looking at the engine harness as a separate entity, the reality is that the p6 wiring, at the front ( lights aside) will be very simple, alternator 3 wires, oil pressure and temperature 2 wires, starter exciter wire x1, live for coil x1(which you will use as ignition feed for ecu) and thats it, all that would run the carb fed v8. Just needs simplifying and then will start making sense. Best of luck a fantastic car worth the effort 👍👍
Thought that was the Police Model - Na Da Na Da Na Da..... i'll get my coat
Hello Sheldon, i really enjoyed this. I hve seen a few negative comments about the reshell but imo it has been done logically and honestly and is part of the car's history. Ford reshelled many of their iconic rally cars multiple times under the same registration but no one moans about it. Just a suggestion: could you cover the negative batttery terminal with insulating tape? I have visions of all that clutter in the boot tipping across the battery terminals, shorting them and starting a fire. It doesnt take much. Keep up the good work!
Wish it was an estate
Value of £12K from back in 1990 into todays value is around £34K .... I bet he spent a 'little' more than £12K, probably more in the region of £19K. Love this Rover, will be sweet once you've done all the bits to it. 👍
