What a gorgeous, gorgeous box. Very excited to sew the seqin fabric, that will be a first for me. I think I'll try the So Sew Easy Lineh V top. Don't want to waste the shimmery blue fabric, so I'm going to take my time thinking of a pattern. Any suggestions appreciated 😘 Thanks again to Christine of The Gemini stitcher for mentioning my channel during her Vlogmas video 😘 I'm wearing a Pattern E...

Crossing the ferry in Provence with horses
Another entertaining video, Kay Love your cardigan. I have the pattern but have not dared to sew it up yet. I heard it comes up big. Did you find that?
@@kautheral-kateb3972 thank you so much glad you liked the video. Yes, the marlo is a bit roomy, but I think it's meant to be like that. It feels "right" when it's on, not too big....hope that makes sense? Mine is made in quite a thickish, fleece. I think it would look a bit different if you used a thinner fabric 😘
I 'watched' and commented on the first version uploaded, but have enjoyed this one much more 😂 To repeat myself, I love the red buttons, and all your makes. With the bag, you folded the strap in on itself, is there any way it would work to do that and top stitch close to the edge? it would form a sort of pleat at each end? On the patina it's more work but I think cutting the sleeves off and reducing the armhole and sides would probably be best. Love your hair, and glad you're recovering from your fall. x
Hi Janis, thank you so much for sticking with me and especially for commenting again, it's really kind of you ❤. Yes I think I'm going to do as you suggest with the bag strap, I think it will look so much better. And as for the Patina, I'm going to brace myself and get those sleeves off and the sides in! Thank you again 😘
Love the red buttons and I would save the Patina by taking the sleeves out and taking shoulders and sides in. So glad you are recovered and back as bubbly as ever😊. Looking forward to seeing your “ intentions” for 2025. Happy Sewing😊. Lynne
Hi Lynne, thank you so much, the red buttons are getting a lot of love ❤, so I think they are going on 😊. You are right about the Patina, the sleeves are going to have to come off! I'm definitely feeling much better now thank you and am fired up, ready to go.....I just need more hours in the day 😂😘
I get the SHJ sewing box and it's a fantastic one this month the fabrics are stunning
@@beachblu6953 they are beautiful 😍possiblybest yet! I can't wait to make them up. My head is buzzing with ideas 🥰😘
@pinkderdlesews looking forward to your makes !!
You’ve made me laugh Kay 😂 Your quickest Sew Hayley Jane make ever I assume 😁🧣 Looking forward to your make from the main fabric.
@@susanneo8674 Hi Susanne, yep, that's my fastest make ever....maybe I'll make it into the magazine as make of the month with it🤣🤣🤣🤣😘😘
I think the buttons are lovely.
Thank you, yes they are and they are getting a lot of love❤, so they will be going on 😘
I watched another unboxing and she received a different main fabric. Now I'm curious! Maybe I need to subscribe to Sew Haley Jane!
It may have been a luxury box, there are 3 boxes mini, classic and luxury. Classic and mini have the same main (no supplementary fabric) luxury has more fabric different to classic and a pattern plus the supplementary.
@@tanasuesews yes, she may have had a luxury box, which would include a pattern and different fabric. And yes.....do try a subscription its fantastic. I think if you check out The Yorkshire Sew Girl's unboxing vlog, she usually gives a discount code for you to get 10% off 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Kay, it's a great box isn't it. Lovely and colourful. Can't wait to see your makes. Thank you 🎉🎉
@@bridgetwhite5547 Hi Bridget, it is indeed. I don't know how she does it month after month, pulling together such beautiful boxes 😍
You’ve done a fab job with the chiffon well done. You’re braver than me 👍 I agree it’s a wonderful box. The fabric is stunning and I can’t wait to see mine up xx
@@emmaevans9454 Hi Emma, thank you so much for your kind comment 🥰. I think I need to sew a lot more chiffon to be confident! The fabric is so beautiful, I'm dithering about what to make as I want to do it justice 😘
Lovely makes. Had to stop your vlog and download the v neck linen shirt. Thanks for that. Re: buttons, it NEVER too much.
Hi there, I'm so glad you downloaded the V neck top. It is such a useful pattern and I've rarely seen it on other vlogs. I'm a size 16/18 and I can usually get it out of a metre. I did shorten the back on this one, but it seems okay. Have fun with sewing it ....and yes, I'm going for the red buttons and flaunting them 😄😘😘
Could you take the straps off the bag and fold them in half and reattach them 😊
Hi Ann, thank you, that's the best way to do it and I was going to do that, but was a bit reluctant as it's a faff once the bag is made up and basically, I'm a lazy sewist😂! A couple of ladies have suggested folding them over as I did in the video, and top stitching them down. That appeals to my lazy nature. 😘
Great video Kay. The red buttons will look great on the blouse. You've made some really lovely things. Glad you're on the mend from your fall. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you🎉
Hi Bridget, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I'm just about fully recovered now.....seems to take a lot longer than when I was in my 20's. I was really pleased with my end of the year makes, especially tackling chiffon! 😘😘
Rosie is beautiful 😍😍😍
Oh Kay I hope you are completely healed from your fall now bless your heart xxx
Well I'm very biased, but I think so too. Thank you so much 😍😍😘😘
Ooo the black dobby looks fab as the patina blouse! I might have to get that pattern at some point! I bought the fabric from the outlet shop after seeing Dee’s and am thinking about making a Nell dress or blouse with those buttons 😍 Shame it was too big, hope you find a fix xxx
Super bag and great value for money 🤩
Thank you, it's so sweet isn't it. I think I'll take advice from the lovely comments on here and take the strap off, narrow it and re attach. Owl and Sewing Cat have some great patterns and kits, I love getting their boxes every month 😘😘
Ooo love be the blouse! The fabric is beautiful! Oh those buttons are so pretty! I think they are perfect 👌 ❤
Thank you so much, I have been wanting to make that Blouse for ages and when I saw it as a shirt dress, I thought I'd better have a bash! the buttons are gorgeous so they will be going on the blouse.....and then I'll need another trip up north to get more 🤣🤣🤣😘
Fantastic pattern matching! I haven’t attempted that yet! 👌🤩
Okay, letting you into a secret.......the front just came out like that! the Back I did take time to match. It's never come out that good before 🤣🤣😘😘
@ 🤣🤣🤣
Ooo that chiffon blouse is stunning! French seams are on my make 9 this year.❤
Thank you so "much for saying so, its very kind of you. I saw the fabric and had to have it. It was only when I got home that I thought "Oh no, I'm going to have to french seam this!". And as I bought two other chiffons, I'm hoping I'll be good at it by the end of 2025 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Good luck with your french seams, just take it steady and you will smash it 😘😘
@ aww thank you Kay xxx
Love all your makes, the first top is amazing. I'd say go for the red buttons....I have the Patina blouse pattern but have yet to make it.
Hi Annette, that's so kind of you, thank you so much ❤.The red buttons have had a lot of love, so I'm going for them. I love that first top too.....can't quite believe I made it! 😘
Great vlog. I love all your makes. Especially your checked shirt and the sage green too. The red buttons will look fabulous on the sage top.
Hi Chrissy, thank you so much, that's so kind of you. I have fallen in love with the shirt (I checked yesterday and Jenny Stitches still has some in stock!!....might have to get another one) the red buttons are getting a lot of love, so I think they will be appearing on my shirt soon 😘
Well done, glad your back is feeling better! I quite often need to take sleeves off to change fit! I often now just baste them in, try it on and decide! I wonder if the rusty shiny buttons might be a little big for the size of the placket for The Blouse? Thats one of many I've got but not made yet! Yours looks good so thanks for the nudge😊
Well done for sorting out your vlog post. I once took a video of my daughter but when I uploaded it to FB it played backwards? I had no idea how I had done it or how to fix it so I left it 🤣. Thank you for sharing all you makes, I think the red button would look fab on your “The Blouse” love the jumper, your cute sausage dog and your hair looks lovely too.
@@vanessajackson5595 Hi Vanessa, I'm sure this tech has a mind of its own 😄, I just loaded up as normal and it was all over the shop....reloaded (exactly the same) and it was fine. I've yet to see one going backwards, but I'm sure it won't be long 🤣🤣🤣. Thank you so much for all your lovely praise, it's really kind of you. And I think the red buttons will be going on 😘
I love your hair and I love your sewing makes also 😃
@@mariasalminen7004 hi Maria, thank you so much. I actually went in for copper hilights, but luckily my lovely friend who does my hair, didn't have the colour so I went blonde! I'm glad you like my makes, I'm really pleased with them 😘

@@judimccafferty8213 hi Judi, yes that last video was far too "in your face" as it were 🤣🤣🤣. Thank you, the red buttons are getting a lot of love, so I think they will be going on 😘
I don’t know how to help with the button color decision because I think there are several good options depending on what color makes you the happiest 😊. I totally agree that the cross body bag strap is twice as wide as it should be. You bring such a bright spot of joy to my day! Thanks from Florida!
@@paulamoreshead1694 Hi Paula, so good to hear from Florida, could you send us a bit of spare sunshine 🌞 please, as it's freezing 🥶 and grey here 🤣. A couple of people have kindly commented on the red buttons so they will probably be going on....but yes there are loads of colours to choose from in that fabric. I may even unpick that strap and re-do it's! I'm glad I bring joy, that's my aim 😘😘
I love the red buttons with your beautiful shirt! Agree that the bag straps are a bit wide … I’d fold it in half and stitch it …. I think it would look pretty good if you chose the right place to stop sewing
@@deniseblake6214 Hi Denise, thank you, the red buttons are getting a lot of love ❤. I think they will be going on the shirt. I'm definitely going to alter those straps. I was going to unpick and re do, but your idea will save a lot of time (and a lot of rude words), so thank you for that 😘😘😘
Gorgeous makes and I vote for the red heart buttons. You gotta have heart! I agree with you about the wide bag straps, but the bag is well done. Thanks for fixing the video. I love you, but that was way too close! LOL
@@tanasuesews yes, I watched the first few seconds of the wonky video and quite frankly no one wants to be peering up my nose 🤣🤣🤣. Just reloaded it and it worked this time 🤷♀️. @@julesduff7238 thank you so much for your lovely comment, so glad you like my makes. I love my fabulous jumper, so warm but a bit itchy, hence the polo jumper underneath 😀 😘
I like the red buttons for the blouse, they match with the red in the fabric very nicely.
@@SusanFulop-l7k thank you. I do love them so they will be going on! 😘
Lovely makes Kay, your blouse and trouser set is very nice together! I would suggest taking the time to alter the Patina and the Concord, it will be very rewarding in the end 😃 Can’t you ‘just’ unpick the neckband and shorting the length of it and sew it back on? No judgement from my side with multiple misses hanging around waiting for alterations 😂 Thanks for sharing ❤
@@susanneo8674 hi Susanne, love the 'just' 😅😅😅. Good idea to shorten the existing one, not thought of that 🤦♀️. I think I'll have to do it, otherwise it will bother me. Thank you 😘
Perfect pattern matching on your shirt. Also, I would change the neckband on your Concord Tee. It sounds as if it will bother you. A great idea to add fish eye darts to your Patina blouse. It would work for the front, but possibly not the back due to the gathering into the yoke. Your idea of taking off the sleeves and taking it in sounds the best as the darts will not fix the too wide shoulders. Glad to hear you are recovering from your horse fall. Take care and happy sewing
@@stacypickett2501 hi Stacy, thank yo so much, first time I've ever got the pattern matching right on the front and the back 😅. Thank you for reminding me of the gathers on the back of the Patina, I'd not taken that into account 🤦♀️. Sleeves off it is then! And neckband off the Concord too 😁😘
I think maybe a cream/tan colour button would look nice on the Blouse
@@emmareadshaw hi Emma, I'd not thought of cream or tan, thank you. I'll pop down to my local haberdashery and see what they have 😘

Hi, quite new to sewing, could I ask what type of fabric are you using… thanks..
Welcome to the world of sewing 😊. I was using a cotton fabric, which came in a pack of 'fat quarters'. You can pick up fat quarters in most fabric shops, or online and if you are in the UK, Aldi even sell them now and again. If you are just starting, then cotton or polycotton fabric would be ideal to begin with as it is nice and stable and doesn't move about, it's also easy to press. Quilting weight cotton fabric would also be nice to use and has some gorgeous patterns. Do let me know if you need to know anything else and good luck and have fun with your sewing 😘😘
