Great video, going to the binder system really changed my life I feel like I'm in joanns everytime I flip through my books
I love that! That might be the next thing I transition too! I remember watching a video in which you organized your patterns and your system seems fantastic!
Cee, I'm cracking up at the thread drawer. We are so similar. Organization is my first, middle and last name. Pattern organization is my favorite. I'm about to do a video on this.
Yes! I look forward to tuning into that video! ♥️
I file my patterns by brand, in numerical order within each brand. That way when any of the major brands are on sale, it's easy to check which ones I have so that I don't duplicate.
Thank you for this advice! This is how I’ve now organized my patterns on my shelves. Thank you so much! I was able to avoid duplicates in my recent pattern hauls because of this tip!
I file mine this way also but always forget to check before buying more. So I end up with duplicates. Also I don’t have as many maybe 60~75 max.
Two ideas about your tips: 1. I have lots of baskets and opaque boxes. Rather than replace them, I label them. Just paper, pen, and scotch tape. Saves those pennies. 2. I have two boatloads of thread. I keep them in clear containers so there is no dust accumulating on the spools. I keep the threads by type and color. For some reason, I was always buying colors, scant black, gray, or white. I binged on these and neutrals just within the last two years. I never have to buy thread again.😊
Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! 💜
I keep a sewing journal. I put the pattern number, who it was for and a swatch of the fabric. You could also print a picture of the person wearing it. It’s fun to look at.
I love my sewing journal! I think I showed it in a previous video.
@@weceestyleI wish I would have done it since beginning to see, long before you were born. I do have several of my old patterns from those early days. I used them for my daughter when she was in high school.
Effective & Efficient! Love It!
Great Tips!
Aww thank you so much! 😊 I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
I was struggling as well on pattern storage. I have a lot of Indy patterns which have been printed on A0 paper. I found a clear plastic envelope at the dollar store and place the picture of the pattern on the front. I found a clear bin in which I can put all the envelopes standing up on their long side. This is recent for me but so far I am loving it as I can also include the traced pattern pieces in the envelope (I am a non pattern cutter) and everything is stored in the one envelope. I am sewing on my dining table with storage of my sewing tools in the basement so I love your suggestion of the pencil box! Thank you for the great video!!
Thank you so much for watching and sharing! ♥️ I love how you store your patterns! This is something I would like to consider because it sounds perfect!
I keep a simple list of patterns I’ve purchased in a notes app on my phone. It’s very basic: patterns listed in numerical order separated by pattern company. Super quick to check when I’m standing at the pattern cabinets at the store trying to remember whether I already have a particular one at home!
Ooh!! That’s a great idea! I’m definitely going to try that! Thank you! 🤗
I am with you about losing track on the patterns. I take pics of front and backs of all pattern envelopes. My apple device allows me to save the pics in albums. A pic can be more than one album and only one copy of the pic - super magic. This allows me to have different albums. I have albums for: each pattern brand, wovens, knits, pants, shorts, tops, button front blouses, sleeveless tops, skirts, shirt dress, wrap dress. You see what I mean. I keep the pattern backs in the album with the fronts by pattern company. Of. Purse I always have my phone. Even have albums for plans and Inspo. The makes album includes a reveal pic too.i so enjoy a neat org space. Love your she shed. I am in the dining room while we renovate a bedroom and bath. Still sewing. Love this video ❤❤❤
Aww thank you! This is a wonderful suggestion!
So if you have tops and bottoms on one pattern you will put it in both albums?
@@bridgetparker6459 yup. I could never figure where to put wardrobe patterns in notebooks or filing systems Some of the new look have tops pants skirts. So that one would go in three albums. Not a fancy method. I just didn’t want to pay for a project app I would never keep up with. And I wanted to look up my patterns while in the store
This video was right up my alley 😂I’m such a storage geek! Thank you from Scotland 💞
Aww thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed it! 😊
Thank you very helpful.
Awww I love reading that! Thank you! 💕
Great tips!!! 😍
I put drier sheets in with my fabric to deter critters as well as the moisture traps with the white pellets that you can get from the dollar store. Don’t want my fabric getting damp and musty in the shed as well as tools drills etc getting rusty. My containers are almost done ie full of liquid and few pellets left (pellets turn to liquid with humidity). It’s taken 5-6 months. I thought the winter was going to be the dampest but turns out spring was worse. I guess from the electric heat even tho I have it on low (14C) during the winter. Was wondering about kitty litter in my drawers to absorb moisture. Has anyone heard of that?
I haven’t heard about the kitty litter before, but I love your recommendations for the moisture! This is something I need to tackle next!
Preach Deep on the Clear Storage😊
Yasssss 🙌🏾 It’s an absolute MUST
Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
Thank you so much
You're most welcome! Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video, I definitely need a storage system for my sewing patterns. I just have them stored in a drawer for now. Every time I am looking for a pattern, I have to pull them all out. I like the filing cabinet suggestion or maybe a small tote for each category. Thanks ❤
Thank you! 😊
Great video
Thank you, Keshia! ♥️
Thanks for sharing this vdo came in handy, I am in the process of moving and re-organizing my sewing room. Your tips helped me make some decision. Thanks for sharing.
🥰 Aww that’s awesome to read! I’m so happy this video was helpful!
Re: your pattern organization system. What do you do when you have tops and bottoms on the same pattern?
They’re on the row designated for “Coordinates”
