This month I'd like to talk about a song from our forthcoming album, which will most likely be out by the time you read this, called...well, I have no idea what it'll be called. But since it's out now (I mean, by the time you are reading this) you will know the title, because you have it.
I wish you could reach back from the future into the past and tell me the title, but I guess you can't. Regardless of the title, it will no doubt be the all-time heaviest heavy metal album ever made...by us.
The song I'd like to focus on here is a little ditty I call "Glory Hole." It's played in drop-D tuning down one half step (low to high, Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb). If you are in standard tuning, simply tune your entire guitar down one half step, and then tune the sixth string down an additional whole step. - Розваги
"I'm not a mathematician, that's why I play guitar in a heavy metal band." ---- Ain't that the truth.
"Usually when you hear notes this heavy it's like UURAGH!!"
That made my day.
I don't care for the lesson. I just came here to listen to his awesome shittalking. Could listen to him talk like that all day. It's great. I love you, Satchel.
+Chloroform Congo I believe what you meant to say was "I don't care about the lesson", to "not care for something" means you actually dislike it. You're welcome.
That tone is bitchin'.
Satchel is actually a great guitar player and hilarious. Plus his point about playing out of key notes then landing back in key is spot on--that's how guys like Steve Vai do it, they add "wrong notes" for accent purposes
Alot of players do that. It's a very well known trick. it's huge in blues. Blues scales actually have sharp notes integrated within them.
Eric Johnson Pretty sure Carlos Santana does the same thing, it's tricky though. You gotta know which bad notes make good notes!
I am still astounded at how many people don't realise that Satchel and the rest of Steel Panther are characters. He's a character that happens to an unbelievable guitarist. And they actually end up playing some incredible music!
This is like spinal tap incarnate. This is the most perfect shit ever. God bless this man.
Tom O'Brien you... I like you.
LOL!!! Thanks.
Give this man a reality show!
All kids should learn to play guitar from Satchel. His words of "wisdom" are priceless.
Am I the only one who thinks Satchel looks a little like Ben Stiller?
Holy fucking shit. I see it. Mind = Kurt Cobain.
More like Bruce Campbell
+Capn' Pants whoooooooaoaaaaaaaaaaa
... With Will Farrell attitude and confidence.
reminds me of Mac from always sunny in Philadelphia
man... Satchel is so underrated in so many ways, from a guitarist to a human being. This dude... life goals man.
"Usually when you hear notes that heavy it sounds like grrrrrrrr!!! rahrrrrrrr!!!!". That was more than laugh out loud. My stomach hurts from laughing at that.
Can we get Bass lessons from Lexxi? Please.
Satchel plays for him on the records, so that would be the same guy :3
Hikkikomoru oooh, actually Lexxi has some serious chops. Prior to Steel Panther he played on a record with Satchel called "The Ducks".
How to play bass: Learn where all 12 notes are located on the E and A strings. Play straight eighth notes or quarter notes. Whole note for epic effect.
This guy rules!!! Best guitar entertainment ever!!!!!
03:18 "It's pretty close to being in tune no matter where i am", LOL.
For all the great comedy, these videos are really instructional. Learn a lot from these. Thanks for making learning so much fun.
How do people not know that it's a joke?
right steel panther is a parody 80s metal band and its funny because they do a spot on impersonation of the bands in that era
79jcandy thyre basicly spinal tap come to life
Because they are plebeians.
Because kids these days know everything, and have no respect for anyone, even themselves. Fuck ' em!
PGeorge61 listen you old fart... "Kids these days" would show grown ups respect if they showed us respect the golden rule treat others the way u want to be treated just because you guys are adulds didn't mean we should automatically respect u....btw the more u guys hate the music we like these days the more we are gonna listen to it plane and simple.
I love Panther and all that but Russ legit has the best vibrato, there's something about it that's just mm
Agreed, the vibrato is spot on - his general tone is perfect for the genre as well.
Great riff. Best entertainment I had all day - keep it up. Rock lives!
Best guitar advices ever... allways land on a "good note"
These videos are the best.
Instant fan! That was hilarious and a damn good lesson. I hope Spinal Tap and Steel Panther tour.

oh yeah, I actually remember the 80s and the look is legit
Dude has a monster for tone
Ich lieb den Kerl echt nice !
lmao luv this. Although sometimes I wish these artists spoke a little bit more about their equipment and settings in their columns. Thatd be awesome
5:19 cc devilles entire philosophy
Dudes hilarious! Great guitar player too!
That's a sweet guitar. Looks like my Van Halen one almost. That one has the pull out tuner as well :)
2:55 - Greatness!
3:00 is my favorite part!!! :))
Steel Panther is just Awesome
Ratt had a couple songs in drop Db too. You're In Love, Lay It Down, and I think Lack of Communication.
back in time... 80's
I can't tell if it's the amp or the pickups or what, but that set-up sounds incredible.
AWSOME
Awesome
either way , satchel would be famous . as a comediant or as a fucking awesome guitar player
It wouldn't suprise me. Micheal (his singer) and Satchel were doing Van Halen tribute gigs in the mid 80's.
Dude. I'm tellin' George about his Kramer !
That's funny as dude lol Thanks. I'm going to get my free guitar now :)
Amen!
Kramer rulez . sounds amazing .
3:00 made me cry laughing.
Satchel=Guitar God!!
i want that guitar.
Satchel, you f'kin rule man! BTW: I'm gonna steal all your lines and use them as pick-up lines.
haha "just out and steal it"
Cool Awesomeness!...A desperate riff for desperate times...You Da Man!!...Ooohh! Yeeaahhh!!...
"I can be in France and do that." lol . Silly bugger
I wanna hear his sound without the delay & reverb. I bet that tone is really killer!!
It's the EVH Drop Tuna. It allows switching to drop D instantly.
80's hair bands remind me of yoga instructors in terms of dress choice haha
I love how stupid he acts, his act is solid! Seriously though, I want to attend one of his classes at MI bad.
If the album was out, a lot of what he says would make sense xD
This guy is Soooo cool!!! haha
Hahaha "I could be in France and do that" !
I love his impersonation at 3:00 of death metal bands playing drop 'D' tuning. So frickin true.
Damn this guy reminds me of someone.. His mannerisms and how he speaks. I just can't picture who it is..
Ben stiller
Paul Rudd of Heavy Metal!!!!
Of course he is.
What the hell is that??? Trick or treat!!!
Lol, I fucking love these
What kind of amps were used in this? Drop d and drop c are my fave tunings.
This is the coolest and funniest shit ever on youtube!!!!!!
great amplifier tone and miked perfectly
I have learned so much music theory from this guy, I'm fucking scared and amazed by that fact 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Bakerafield? That's where live!
I like thia guy
LOL. I love these guys. Funny as fuck.
That's the gangsta attitude you need to succeed in this world
🤘
I wish he would have put the drop tube feature on his charvel
this is the funniest guitarist in the history of anything
Dec 2013? A lesson from.. The FUTURE!? XD
Satchel is so educational lol
Randy Leon He should be a high school music teacher, lol. He would be fired the first day 😂
ambrooks5 What, by singing rude songs, introducing the sheltered students to porn and alcohol, and turning everyone into junkies? If I was the head master, I'd retire and let him take my place.
I laughed a lot harder than I thought I would lol
