Some of my favourite Drop D riffs have gotta be Everlong - Foo Fighters, Show Me How To Live - Audioslave, Moby Dick - Led Zeppelin, Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd (I know the main riff itself is on the regular D string but it's still just so fun to play) and Stockholm Syndrome by Muse, plus I've also composed some cool riffs in Drop D with my band as well. All in all, it's definitely a great tuning that everyone should experiment with and you might come across some lovely little gems of your own

To me it is about the great artists and their work where drop D is frequently used. Ty Tabor (has used variations throughout the years of standard drop D, 1/2 step down C sharp, and full step to C), Tom Morello, Adam Jones, Edward Van Halen (infrequently, but very memorably), Nuno Bettencourt, Chris Cornell & Kim Thayil, Jerry Cantrell. The thing all of these artists have in common are heavy songs that stick in your head, compelling you to play these riffs when noodling with your guitar.
