This month I’d like to tell you about a Steel Panther song called “Weenie Ride,” from our multi-maxi-selling 2012 album, Balls Out.
“Weenie Ride” was our very first piano ballad. Our first album, Feel the Steel, was a huge hit in Asian countries, and everyone knows that they love piano over there, so we decided to include a piano ballad on our next record. Pretty smart, right?
Also, when I go to Disneyland I usually see a lot of Asians, and there are a lot of rides at Disneyland, most of them with long lines. So I put two and two together and wrote “Weenie Ride,” which, by the way, has a much shorter line! Just jump right on!
“Weenie Ride” is built around a piano part in the key of A minor. There is, of course, a bitchin’ guitar solo in the song, which I am going to show you in this column. A note about the guitar tuning: I always tune down one half step, like Eddie Van Halen. But when we recorded “Weenie Ride,” I played the solo on a standard-tuned guitar. - Розваги
He has a stupid-smart sense of humor. But he plays it so well. His tone is alive!
Still livin the rock n roll dream like it's the 80s.
I would love his job, they really made a niche for themselves. And Satchel such a great guitarist, I'm sure he can play any genre he wants to.
"The dots are in the wrong spot" Hahaha !
Still funny
Satchel for prez! whos with me?! c
I love the fact that you don't have your arms all tatted up.
rite that s*** is overdone
Actually he is scared of needles 😂
Well I don't like needles either the only time I can handle them as if once I have to get shots done.
Among many many other great technical capabilities ol' Russ holds, I think his muting is the best out there
Getting guitar tips from a Model/Guitar player is all we ever wanted.
Yeah he's telling it and I think he could be on the cover of a romance novel.
I mean to say that he is talented damn speak and spell.
"I'm not gonna learn the Asian language."
I want to learn this
ah yes the native tongue of A S I A
Fucking hilarious. And good lesson too!
I've been subbed here for a while now, and these are probably my favorite videos they put out lol
I came for the solo and stayed for the comedy 🤣 Grande Satchel! 😎🤘
Fa scassare 😂
Very happy this series is still going strong!
I love him giving lessons!!!
Satchel is the best:
That pattern goes with a lot of harmonies right there.
Hahaha.
Beautiful solo.
Lmao! Satchels my hero!! I'm so old i learned my harmonies from Thin Lizzy & Boston albums slowed down....Seriously!
I think most of us did. :)
What a great tone, love that!
I started learning guitar because of Satchel!
awesome solo!
The part where he falls asleep knocked me off my chair! :'''D
"I love you."
Brilliant.
Can't stop laughing. You sir, are fantastic!
Best tutorial video on UA-cam !
Sounds SO much like Paul Gilbert - not on all of Steel Panther but just this particular song. Love them!
They used to be housemates back in the day
Paul Gilbert taught him
Thats crazy vibrato it makes a huge difference.
C'mon dudes, the man is so funny and ho knows to play guitar too.
That solo was bitchin'!! Thanks satchel, see you in Glasgow!
Russ is funny as hell.
Ben Stiller has talent after all. Great tone!
No one can hold a handle to this guy on the guitar ... Well, maybe Randy Rhoads ... Russian fans love you, Russ!! ...
Bull Shitter let's not push it
you have to do Bukakke Tears....those solos are just awesome...
I know right! I think Bukkake tears is one of the most beautiful songs on the new album. Which is ironic really because of the lyrics, but the music on that track is just outstanding. Tbh the whole album is pretty good, it has a couple downsides but overall its a pretty awesome album. Particularly with Satchels playing. Way to go, Satch'!
His dots are just all over the place, man.
The last three seconds of this fucking got me, hahaha.
I fucking love his sarcasm
Watching Satch makes me think he is Ben Stiller because he is so entertaining.
Satchel is so freakin hilarious, and not a bad guitar player either. Lol. Seriously though I bet he'd be a blast to hang out with.
haha i fucking love this guy
He’s like the rain man of guitar lol
"It sounds like I know a lot about Asians. But I don't, really."
Am I the only one who this steel panther needs their own tv show? Kind of like metalocalypse but Glam metal.
No that would ruin them
sold 300
When you have a guitar equipped with Floyd Rose in drop tuning and you have to learn/play a song in a standard tuning. *fuuuuuuuuuu*
Or just buy a d-tuna for 40 bucks and switch back and forth
@@GlennKokko You should be half a step down always anyway. It's the "standard" tuning for 80s metal
funny as fuck. what a superlative entertainer.
Asian woman speak Dollar. The most popular language I ever learned.
Satchel, have a guitar made with the dots 1/2 step down on the neck, and keep it tuned 1/2 step down. Then the dots will be in the right place.
But then every other song would have dots in wrong places.
***** He could use the customized neck dot guitar for songs that are 1/2 step down, and then another guitar for songs that are standard tuning.
johnorlitta Or he could use differently tuned guitars for songs that are in E and his normal guitars for those in Eb (1/2 step down)
True, as most guitarists do. I was just trying to come up with a silly solution for his situation.
lmao
LMFAO hahaaaa.... man this guy is insane
"oops... the dot was in the wrong spot"
darn dots
Now I'll call it 'Gugleé'
Hilarious! Asian ladies are going to be pissed....but you rip, and make me laugh....nice job.
Satchel how'd you get so buff?
Ahh Satchel :D
Hahahaha the Main Lead guitar player! lolz
The Jhonny sins of Guitar😎😂
Dude fkn rocks it..unferated af
Damn theyre still halarios
funny guy cool.... hahaha
what amp is he going through?
I know you commented this a long time ago but watch his music video to if you really really love me. It’s an EVH
does he shave his arms?
Older guy almond bros, needs too pay attention
That akward moment when I actually used this as a tutorial and learned the solo for a cover on my channel hahah.
I speak Asian language.
4:46
I just learned a lot about Asians… ha
‘Guitar lesson’, huh. Oh, God. Too funny.
"You have to be a guitar player, otherwise you wouldn't be watching this long" wow,uh,I'm actually not...but I want to learn that's why I watch to maybe pick up a few tips from a guy who knows quite a lot about it. The reason I'm commenting is because I really don't understand the concepts like "playing in the key of E major" or "tuning it to C" maybe someone could shed a little light on this for me? If guitar playing is seriously this complicated, I don't want to take it up.. Sorry if I come off as ignorant guys.
Oh and stuff like arpeggios and how he's talking about the dots being in all the wrong places, huh...?
ThatsArtastic if your playing in the key of e minor you are playing the notes and chords made from that key, chords are made up from the notes of the scales, satchel( Russ) is a very well educated player and is always in character in these videos, dots ect he is cracking jokes, tipping his hat to the rediculous vids the shredders did in the 80's your gonna have to do some reading don't let this get you down
ThatsArtastic Playing the guitar is tough, especially when starting out. It doesn't have to be tough, and is not tough if you don't push yourself.
You can't just pick up a guitar and start shredding away at 160beats per minute, because it doesn't work like that. If you are thinking about starting guitar, do it. Hopefully you will enjoy it. I would suggest learning some basic music theory about chords, scales and keys etc. because that will help you. You need scales as a foundation for soloing, and knowing about keys will make sure that you stay in tune.
Oh, and arpeggios are just chords, but instead of just playing the chord, you play each note individually.

I hope you read this and it helped :-)
RobbieR0XX hey thanks for the information and motivation man, I guess I kind of understand it a little better now. I will do some reading on it like you said, hopefully it'll help me out.
Metsu Quickscope I've been wanting to play for a long time, but I just never seemed to get the time. I've got the time now and learning the guitar is something I'd really like to see happening. I know its tough, and I do admit I get drawn in by shredding and how fast a shredder is sometimes. I'll read up on it and try and get a better grasp of it. Buy some music theory books and stuff. Thanks anyway for making it a little easier for me.
Funny enough, I did learn an Asian language to pick up chicks.
Why tf would they film this whole video and not bother to give him a correctly tuned guitar?
It would've taken one minute.
He stops talking and starts playing the guitar at 04:47.
Bitchen.. who cares if his hair is kinda flat? I dont.. well i do.. kinda.. sometimes.
I was cooler than this guy. I swear
It's surprising how little music theory he knows
He was actually nominated as Instructor of the year at GIT
Ricardo Fernandes AND played with Paul Gilbert. Behind the wig he is a guitar god!
dont be fooled brah, he's pretty much a guitar god
it's even more surprising how little YOU know about him.
Yes, there's a reason he earns living by playing the guitar..
some crappy upload here.
I respect him as a guitar player, as a musician, but I cant stand his personality. If it is acting, it is useless then. The first 4 and a half minute was just talking shit... I dont mean to disrespect Steel Panther fans or rock musicians, it is just too much self worshipping for me...
As I said, I respect him as a guitar player and I respect and love the kind of music Steel Panther plays. It is just that I dont think skilled musicians like him should act like this. Is it what his fans are love in him? I dont think so... Maybe they love him beacuse of his playing, not because of the ability of talking shit in the first 4 minutes of a 8 minute long video. He doesnt have to do this to keep his fans head up...
@@kultuke I agree with void. People aren't a fan of the sky or the group because of just the playing skills or their entire Act but a combination of both. This guy is hella funny and extremely skilled.
