I heard Flair tell a story about Kerry taking his clothes off and going out on the balcony of a hotel that was 8 stories high and was threatening to jump. He said somebody called Roddy Piper and Roddy came up to the room and took all of his clothes off before he went on the balcony to talk Kerry out of it lol Piper was a smart guy and sounds like a good friend.
I met Mr. Hot Rod back in 88 or 89 in Baton Rouge LA. Hacksaw Jim Dugan introduced me to him, cause I was a huge fan. I grew up boxing and in 89 was trying to push for the Olympics in 92, which was going to be in Barcelona. Roddy Piper was a funny guy man and something oh a legend. Well to me anyways. He sat there at my job and told us stories of him and Dugan wrestling. As far as me boxing. Yeah I messed it up playing backyard baseball with my brother and our friends. I was pitching and tore my rotater cuff. I never got back the want to in boxing after that. Anyway it's good to hear about the stories these guys tell. It was a very hard life for them and they had to preform almost 3 times a week for 51 weeks out of the year. Between trying to Juggle a family for some, weight lifting, driving all over the states, living in different hotel rooms almost every night and then preforming. These guys were true athletes based off of everything they did before stepping into a ring. Take care and sorry for this being so long. It just brings back so many memories.

I just watched the Iron Claw and learned that the FILM removed one of the brothers deaths because it was too sad (the film is excellent by the way). What a tragic series of events.

Chris probably wanted it more than anything but just lacked the physical tools. Mike, I understand, just never really wanted to be in the business...but, he knew it was expected of him.
@@jarvisyoung8350 Mike wanted nothing to do with the business. Even after nearly dying from toxic shock syndrome he was forced back into the ring where he was never the same physically as a wrestler & to boot he was not that good to begin with. Then once the legal troubles started to mount he couldn't take it and killed himself. Mike knew his little brother wanted to be a wrestler but knew the pressure that would come from it from fans and more so Fritz. So when Mike left his scuba gear to Chris in one of the fins he left a bottle of the same drugs that killed him to Chris with a note that read something to the effect of "For whenever you're ready". He knew Chris would crumble under the same pressures he did but Chris decided to shoot himself in the head instead of intentionally overdosing.
What does the Von Erich's and the Bee Gee's have in common.......There's only one left!! sigh......... I will forever be grateful to have met Kerry Von Erich!!!!
This is so sad and heartbreaking for the Von Erich brothers😢.. I hate when they going through this💔. My condolences and prayers to Kevin and his family🙏🏾
One of the brothers passed on Sept 12, 91. I was a superfan of this family. Sadly their son (my apologies for forgetting which one ). Passed on my son's first birthday. Saw another video of the only son left. He looks happy in hawaii. Loving his family and yes future wrestlers! Rip
And there was no coin toss to find out who is going to win the title after David died. That’s nonsense Kerry was already picked by Fritz just based on his looks
No Kerry had another daughter named Hollie who was Lacey's older sister. I do not believe she is in the business though. And Kevin had 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls.
The comment about Fritz shooting at Kevin, was told by Kevin himself. He went on to say, Fritz told him he didn't have the guts to kill himself like his brothers, so he tried to kill him, and Kevin had to leap out of the bedroom door to avoid being shot by his own dad. I am thinking he wanted them all dead, and who knows if he isn't the one who killed them or had them killed. Strange deaths. My brother's and I loved the Von Erich boys, always played and acted like them. We were such monster fans.
I lost my family to my parents my brother my aunt uncle and five cousins and my grandparents. You have to go with GOD and stay strong. I wish Kevin the best Kevin is my name to . I can't wait to see the new movie the Iron Claw may GOD be with you always.
The reason why they all died was because of Fritz, plain and simple. Might get some people commenting saying "How could you say that" but it's the truth. He put way too much expectation on those boys, if David had survived things may have ended up differently, but his death was the catalyst for all the others. By his own admission, the only reason Kevin is still alive today is because he's a family man, if he wasn't then there would be no Von Erich from that generation alive today.
I hope the next generation can shine much better and will be able to avoid the curse. There's Kerry's daughter Lacey and Kevin's two sons that were on TNA in the past. I hoe that they do return to the sport one day and revive the Von Erich dynasty.
Another Dnynasty for the Von Erich Family. You never want to see your childrens injured. They choose this path. All i can say. Please. No more death. Life is to fragile.
I always wonder why they committed suicide? It seems like they had a lot going for themselves, a big supporting family & lots of fans, especially here in Texas.
David was Bulimic. He took painkillers to hide the Stomach problems his eating disorder was causing. He died on Friday February 10,1984 from a Hydrocodone overdose in Tokyo,Japan. Mike underwent shoulder surgery on August 3,1985 in Tel Aviv, Fritz is believed to have forced him immediately back into training before he could recover, which led to him developing Toxic Shock Syndrome which deteriorated his mental state. Finally on Sunday April 12,1987 after feeling so much pressure and stress from his father from the Angle exploiting his condition, Adkisson overdosed on a Sleeping Drug Placidyl, he was survived by his young wife of 2 years Shani, Brothers Kerry,Kevin and Chris and parents Jack and Doris. Chris Von Erich tried to make it in the ring, but his short stature and brittle bones made Wrestling a Pipe Dream for Baby Chris. In 1991, he auditioned for WWF under the Gimmick "The Crane", after being bullshitted by Vince McMahon several times, he was finally formerly turned down for being lightweight(Lightweight Divisions didn't exist yet). Fearing failure of his planned October 1991 set audition for WCW as "Crybaby Chris"(A gimmick inspired by the '90 Johnny Depp Musical Crybaby), 22 Year old Adkisson walked into his Parent's Thicket in Denton,TX on the morning of Thursday September 12,1991, placed a Revolver to his temple, and pulled the trigger. On February 15,1993, 33 year old Kerry "Texas Tornado" Adkisson, who was on leave from WWF(He was the only Von Erich to make it to WWF), A Dallas,Co judge threw the book at him on prior Drug possession charges, and a DUI and sentenced him to 6 years in prison. He was ordered to being serving his sentence on February 19th, facing the ruined legacy of his Family, a bitter divorce risking him being able to see his two young daughters, Adkisson on February 18th decided to join his brothers by walking behind his Parent's thicket, and placing a 9MM to chest and pulling the trigger.
Tornado1994 thanks for the information. I only went to one live wrestling match back in the 80's, my sister-in-law's brother had tickets to see Kerry wrestled & he invited me. The fans went wild when Kerry came behind the current. The fans truly adored him. He actually won that match, too, but couldn't remember the guy he wrestled against.😗
Kerry was facing a lot of prison time for drugs. I think getting toxic shock syndrome did a number on Mike's self confidence, and I think Chris just though he'd never measure up to his dad and brothers.it
As long as the paternal lineage keeps on going and going and going in the Von Erich family, that's all that really matters. Spiritual reincarnation through the paternal lineage actually exist.
Im sorry but the mother is fkn nuts. "We just stand up and start smiling again" "Life Goes on" What in the hell is wrong with her. Never seen this before and always a Von Erich fan, but this shit is strange!
She loses almost every one of her sons before she goes, her and Fritz were in some big time denial. But I did know a person who lost her three kids before her time and she just went to church and read the bible to get her through.
I was thinking the same thing, she seems overly smiley and happy at such sad personal tragedies that have happened in her life, It's uncomfortable to watch, she's obviously turned to God to get her through it.
We all cope differently with death, but her reaction was very cold and odd. She just seemed like the type of person to ignore all the reasoning behind their deaths and just be like "well at least we're happy". Like, no... that is quite possibly the worst reaction to have about the whole situation.
I agree. He said him being a family man is what had saved him. He was about to commit suicide when he went into a gun shop and stole the gun but the gun shop owners had a heart to heart conversation with him that changed his mind. He was through with it all once Kerry died.
David died of a heart attack from cocaine. The whole family was on drugs. Kevin started wrestling without boots because he would shoot heroin between his toes before or after a match and couldnt wait to get high. Kevin wrestled in St. Louis, Mo. one time and was so high off heroin after a match they had to drive him to the airport and made sure he was on the right flight back to Texas. Sad family
Soo many different stories.. I think David was murdered to be honest with you... I think they were all killed... Kevin's story always sounds different.... Kerry von Eric's daughter said in a interview that there was alot of abuse and more to there story than what they say but Kevin would kill her if she went public
That´s what the family told the press. David like his brother Kerry was drug addicted and he is likely to have died from accidental drug overdose instead of a kick in the stomach. Above all David died in his hotel room in Japan the night before he was to wrestle there. So a match inflicted kick in Japan (as his family always stated) has never happened.
I think that was a misunderstanding. Somehow that rumor got circulated into fact that a lot of people believed. The fact is David hadn't wrestled a single match yet. The morning he was supposed to go to the arena to prepare for the night's bout is when he was found dead by the All Japan promoter and Bruiser Brody.
Fritz is the whole curse. If he took his responsibility as their father they would have never ended that way. He wasn't their father. He was their coach. He was never called dad. Only yes sir and no sir .And because of him they are gone now. Poor Kevin. Loosing all his siblings is thought and going through this you need to be mentally strong. I miss Kerry the most. He had the looks, he was great wrestler, not the best of them but was fantastic, his promos were great too. I miss him the most.
@@casey3685 You don't put sports over the well being of your kids. After he saw what happened to Mike, he should've put his foot down and let him take all the time he needed, remind him he was important in his own way, and didn't need to "be the new David". And for Chris, he should've gently let him know, it wasn't safe for him, but he could do sum like be a manager, which was equally essential to the well-being of the match.

So much tragedy happened in this family. I do pray that the next generation has better luck.
The next generation doesn't have Fritz. I think they'll be ok.
@@tafua_a fritz didn't do anything
I cried for them brothers so tragedy. 😞
Love how kevins faith in God is what got him throughout these losses and life in general, God never fails to provide if you put your faith in Him. All Glory be to God!!
My brother and I loved watching the Von Erichs. We would wrestle and give each other the iron claw. We grew up in the country and it made us country strong. Sad how their lives went.
Per Jim Cornette, Kevin once said "I used to have five brothers. Now, I'm not even a brother."
The saddest quote that sums up the Von Erichs.
These guys should of been in legends of wrestlemania
Hell Undertaker Should've Been In The Legends Of Wrestling Games
They are bigger then any WrestleMania are legends of wrestling 💪
I just watched the Iron Claw and learned that the FILM removed one of the brothers deaths because it was too sad (the film is excellent by the way). What a tragic series of events.
David didn't take a kick in the stomach in Japan. He actually never wrestled on that tour.
He was actually over in Japan at the time and did die over there.
He did die in Japan but had not wrestled a match yet on that tour.
he died from drug overdose.. it had been coverd up by certain people.. seen a doc about is somewhere
Flair said it in his book and stated that Bruiser Brody flushed the evidence down the toilet so it wouldn't attract media attention and so that Doris wouldn't know her son had a drug problem.
it was a bowel disorder not a drug overdose
And then, 2 after this was filmed, Kerry took his life too. Pretty sad.
It Wouldn't Be Long Until Undertaker Gets Himself Killed By His Psycho Wife For No Reason -___- Bullshit Like This Makes Me Question Humanity Altogether
I worry about Kevin till this day, he has been thru so much like bret hart has loosing his parents and a few brothers hopefully kevin will be here for a long time, but honestly he hasn't looked too well in recent years.
Owen was WWE sacrifice... I believe Bret and everyone knows it was....
Kevin doing better he got nice home in Hawaii. Invested in real estate buisness got himself together n his boys are now in wrestling along with Kerry daughter so give curse bullshit a rest death is part of life . Kevin was strongest one
On Vice's Dark Side Of The Ring, Kevin is shown still climbing trees with his amazing agility for a 60+ year old man.
Then Kerry lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, but returned to wrestling for a short time, before he too committed suicide.
only one is still alive till this day from the Von Erich family.
Once you get addicted to pain killer, it's a done deal, it leads to depression and suicide
Jerry jarett said that life in that family home with Fritz was very disturbing and he was only there to talk business one time.
One of the worst tragedies in wrestling. :(
Martial Arts from day one was something I could never get enough of as a kid.
All of them passed away except Kevin. Now whenever I saw Lacey wrestle in TNA, she always remind me her father and one of my favorite ever Kerry Von Erich
romeo valentine I know how Kevin must feel, losing all of his brothers, I lost my only sister in 2017 in a car crash , I know he missed them dearly, Kevin said once I'm not even a brother anymore, but like my sister, they will live on forever in his heart
Fritz never gave the boys a break. All he did was push and push and push them harder and harder. Family is more important than business.
Such a family tragedy.😔🇺🇸
There was no greater family in wrestling, despite what the Hart's and Armstrong's think
I love this video!
Poor Mike and Chris were never made for the business.
@@jarvisyoung8350 I wish Mike was selfish enough to just push them away. Would've been alive still if he wasn't so obedient to his fathers wishes.
Imagine one day being the older brother of 6. Then at the blink of an eye you aren't even a brother anymore.
What does the Von Erich's and the Bee Gee's have in common.......There's only one left!! sigh.........
I will forever be grateful to have met Kerry Von Erich!!!!
Kerry took his own life two years after this story, and the father died four years after that. Only Kevin survives today.
We know
Anthony garcia I agree with u ...they should make a von erichs movie
My prayers are with The Von Erich family😇😇😇
Kerry looks A LOT like his Mother
Yeah the whole story is eerie.
This is so sad and heartbreaking for the Von Erich brothers😢.. I hate when they going through this💔. My condolences and prayers to Kevin and his family🙏🏾
Long live the Von Eric's 💪💪💪🤼🤼♂️🏋️♂️
One of the brothers passed on Sept 12, 91. I was a superfan of this family. Sadly their son (my apologies for forgetting which one ). Passed on my son's first birthday. Saw another video of the only son left. He looks happy in hawaii. Loving his family and yes future wrestlers! Rip
Chris Adkisson.
May their soul rest in peace
The comment about Fritz shooting at Kevin, was told by Kevin himself. He went on to say, Fritz told him he didn't have the guts to kill himself like his brothers, so he tried to kill him, and Kevin had to leap out of the bedroom door to avoid being shot by his own dad. I am thinking he wanted them all dead, and who knows if he isn't the one who killed them or had them killed. Strange deaths. My brother's and I loved the Von Erich boys, always played and acted like them. We were such monster fans.
Anna Thomas That is true. It's on the wccw documentary done by an independent filmmaker and huge wccw& von erich fan.
Well, he is the one who found Kerry.
He had brain cancer at the time. He was out of his mind at the time.
Yep. The "Von Erich curse" was Fritz, simple as that.
more to this story....
Disturbing is the utter calmness, humans apparently combine strength and weakness
No parent deserves this
Im sorry but the mother is fkn nuts.
We do have live on rude it's not rude it normal
We all cope differently with death, but her reaction was very cold and odd. She just seemed like the type of person to ignore all the reasoning behind their deaths and just be like "well at least we're happy". Like, no... that is quite possibly the worst reaction to have about the whole situation.
We in lebanon were big fans for von Ericks
fuck, they are the kennedy family Jesus christ RIP
Those boys was rock stars.
Drugs killed all of those boys.
Except Jack Jr. who died of accidental electrocution. That family was just plan cursed.
No there is still one living
Kevin is still living
But David Died wit a stomach
One of them shot themself so stop acting like u know it all
Im 16 and i like old school matches
Von ERICH FOREVER ‼️💯🔥👍🤘
Texas Tornado looked just like his mom.
I just said that myself a male version of her for sure
With the exception of David , Fritz practically told them to kill themselves . He said that to Kevin.
That was so sad
Very sad 😢 & pray for von Erich family 😢
Fritz was the main culprit.
absolutely disturbing..
They made a deal with the devil
What makes you think that ? Elaborate
I think Kevin kept going only because of his wife and kids tbh
Sad family
David didn't die from Cocaine. He OD' on Hydrocodone. And was actually Bulimic.
This is the first time I've heard a kick to the stomach is what killed David.
@@LordOfTheBored David died of a Hydrocodone Overdose.
He died from taking prescription drugs and Socky wine
I think that was a misunderstanding. Somehow that rumor got circulated into fact that a lot of people believed. The fact is David hadn't wrestled a single match yet. The morning he was supposed to go to the arena to prepare for the night's bout is when he was found dead by the All Japan promoter and Bruiser Brody.
GOD BLESS THE REST OF THEM ... I PRAY THEY ALL LIVE TO BE OLD
Fritz is the whole curse.
Yeah, let's blame Fritz for everything. Fritz may have been a hard ass when coaching them but that is part of the sport.
The whole family seemed weird to me.
+HarleyFace The mom smiling was kind of creepy and so was Kevin smiling at the end after mentioning being 6 feet deep.
Somebody hurting deep down can't be creepy or weird? Maybe eerie is a better word?
One of the Fantastics mentioned the cat story in a shoot interview that use to be on UA-cam.
puck30 there used to be an interview with Jack Victory on here where he mention's it too. I lost a lot of respect for Kevin after hearing that he was capable of some heartless shit like that.
HarleyFace fuck cats
This is horrible, i feel so bad for that family
Three sons dear 1 survives R.I.P Bon Erichs
Terrible how the family came to an abrupt end.
3:08 That's Ross?
And then we say goodbye to Kerry later on 🙁
I never seen them do any of that there in the Bld...
