- The last surviving brother of the world-famous Von Erich brothers, Kevin Von Erich is sharing lessons he learned from overcoming massive loss and trauma.
This guy has been through unimaginable loss and still persevered
Prayers for his family. We all go through wilderness moments and I'm glad I stumbled across this video
He’s the tough one obviously
@@NukeIt2Bdone IMO God puts us in wilderness moments to learn about self and true up our priorities. Walk a "mile in my shoes" comes to mind
@NukeIt2Bdone the others were "tough"
@@Judge102 not as tough psychologically as Kevin obviously
Kevin can tough his way thru this painful world and it was too much for his brothers
"It Takes More Courage to Live Than It Does to Die"
- Kevin Von Erich
No! F kidding!
I didn't know anyone else ever said that, I've died both intentionally and accidentally. No drugs though. And I've said this since the 5th grade. Ironic , but I'm glad there is at least one other like minded person. I feel less alone.
Did u see what comes next??? I did. I was ejected from a car cuz some lady was texting and driving a freaking Hummer 😮 All the lights. All the colors 😍
@adamkondracki3201 this needs to be written in more detail
I wish I could find the clip of him saying this. I believe he was recounting the suicide of one of his brothers and how he was trying to stop him from doing it.
"I used to be an older brother and now I am not even a brother". Glad Kevin persevered and is still with us today enjoying wrestling once again.
Man I’m sorry about your brother. I have a little brother. I can’t imagine.
yeah that was a quote from Kevin Von Eric, I'm a single child @@tommygriffith9594
@@tommygriffith9594he's talking about Kevin Von Erich.
@@tommygriffith9594lol
Dude lost 5 brothers. One that was little who died in an accident.
Kevin Von Erich is the epitome of perseverance. The amount of loss and grief he has had in his life is imaginable.
You mean unimaginable.
There is no doubt that Kevin has suffered through tremendous pain, but IMO, his greatest achievement is raising two boys. Many say that they are the most well-mannered and loving people they have ever met. To me, that tells me all I need to know about Kevin.
Runs in their family. Met Kerry twice as a kid. He really was a all around wholesome man.
He also raised two daughters, Kristen and Jillian
He's also got two daughters, and 11 grandchildren now
@@billblaski9523 I guess some people think Ross and Marshall are his only children because the girls are both older than the boys. 🤷♀
@@MsJourneyfan plus the daughters don't appear in the movie. Just Ross and Marshall, as little boys.
"Maybe it's destroying something that needs to be destroyed." This one statement, unintentionally, proves he's genuine.
Can't believe this man has survived so many losses in his life and he is still here. True legend
It will be sad when we find out when Kevin is gone. Praying that is not for at least 4 to 8 years. We should leave him alone when talking about his brothers meaning=Let him move on.
@@jimnfl7134 very true
@@jimnfl7134he’s 66 he’s got a good 24 years left probably like he’s fit and healthy still
As the oldest brother in my family the statement “I used to have 5 brothers, now I’m not even a brother” is something I thought I’d never hear.Very chilling and am glad Kevin persevered his other statement “it takes guts to live not guts to die” while his father pointed a .44 at him. Those 2 quotes hit super hard.
Kevin is a hero. To undergo such tremendous tragedy and emerge as a kind, positive man is nothing short of heroic to a society that sorely needs such an example.
Should talk to bret
No denying his greatness but Bret plays the victim and blames everyone else..
@@aquilafifita7706 Brett is an ego maniac who can't stop putting other people down.
This poor guy lost 5 brothers. I have 5 brothers and I couldn't imagine losing any of them let alone all of them. Terrible
@@aquilafifita7706Who's Bret?
I'm very proud of Kevin Von Erich
“Don't quit, keep fighting” Words to live by.
Kevin's strength and courage that got them through the past 30 years without his brothers is amazing. I am glad that he had his wife and family and found peace in Hawaii.
I saw Kevin and Kerry Von Erich wrestle twice as a tag team in San Angelo during this period. Legends. It's good to see that Kevin still can manage a smile on his face after what's he's been through. God Bless the Von Erichs!
Wrestling fan or not, anyone with a Soul feels great sympathy and empathy for this dear Man. I lost a younger Sister to a traffic accident years ago and it still bothers me. I cannot begin to imagine the emotional beating he has taken, and yet, here he is. Amazing Human Being.
Probably doesn't even remember any of it
What a man. Seriously. The wisdom Kevin has is something every human can learn from. He should be a hero to all.....
This man embodies a soul of enduring hardships in life and finding strength to keep going for the sake of the happiness of loved ones. May his and the souls of his family be blessed ❤
I grew up in Dallas watching these guys!!! They were our hometown heroes!!! My heart breaks for Kevin...he's a tough one!!!
Me too.
And yes he is
He was in shock during his last Brother's death. The TV interview is sad,he is completely numb in that clip.
I’m just Glad Kev got out of the business when he was still young. It’s likely why he’s still with us.
They were a huge part of my teenage years. Love ved The Von Erichs. So glad you fought the demons of sadness and persevered. God Bless you and yours.
He's still fighting....

@@Fabadaba don't we all. May God Bless him and his family and keep them safe always.
@missreynolds3637 When I wrote that comment, it was a month ago. I'd just found out about it myself. Pardon me.
I wouldn't have even recognized him, I can't believe the years have gone by. Man seeing him takes me back to another time.
I remember when he wrestled. He was the most incredible athlete I had seen.
His attitude and strength is inspirational. I never expected to get brain cancer, but after 2 surgeries and treatment..I'm still here. We learn from the bad times by choosing to not let them destroy us. Such a great video
It's hard for normal people to really relate to the highs and lows that this guy has gone through. From being the most popular people in the state, literally royalty, being able to do literally whatever they wanted, to the unimaginable tragedy of watching his brothers commit suicide. My heart breaks for Kevin.
Watching this video sent chills through my body. l watched the Von Erichs as a young man. What great memories watching them perform. That time went by way too fast. God bless you Kevin may your brothers rest in peace.
Good bless you Kevin, you’re a warrior
Don’t know how kevin deals with it. Saddest quote i heard him say years ago. “ i used to be a brother and now i’m not even a brother”. He is quite strong as a man.
One of my favorite stories Kevin told
He was in his lowest of lows. He wasn't about to take his life, but he was angry at the world and just wanted to fight somebody, anybody. He felt the best place to fight was in prison, so he was going to steal a gun and get arrested. He walked into a gun store where three Texas good ol' boys (grown men, of course) were inside. Kevin just grabbed a rifle and stuffed it down his pants, stiff-legging it out of the store as the three men watched him. He turned to them and said "got somethin' to say?" and one of them just looked at him for several long moments before simply saying "we love ya, Kev" and let him leave. Kevin sat in his car with the rifle in his lap, taking in the gravity of what he had just done. He walked back into the store, set the rifle back on the counter, and gave the three men a hug and thanked them. He said that simple gesture was enough to save him.
We love ya, Kev
With everything he has gone through, he will always be "The Richest Man I Know." He has Love, Family and God.
A hero of mine since I was a little kid! Greatest in ring talent of all the Von Erichs. Much love Kevin!
i lost one brother and i still can't get over it for years and i never think i would, he lost 5 of em, i can't imagined
I absolutely adore Kevin Von Erich, and of course the rest of the Von Erich clan. That man should be a beacon for anyone one of us. When life really gets us in the worst spots. No matter what, there is always a way out, and a reason to be. What a sad story, that did in its own way have had a good ending. I also cannot wait to see “The Claw”. Have a wonderful day my fellow wrestling fans!!!
I saw Kerry Von Erich wrestle in 1991 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the time, I was unaware of these tragedies, Kerry was carrying a lot inside of him. He defeated the Warlord, on June 1st 1991.
He would have wrestled that match with only one foot. You’re very lucky to have witnessed greatness
I’m glad to hear that Kevin did eventually move back to Texas. His family is there. I’m also glad that he is a survivor of the family and he and his sons and their children are still carrying on the Von Erich name.
Just finished watching the iron claw I must say gotta be the best movie in 2023. Go watch it asap. 🙏🏽
The man is so strong. God bless him.
This has been the saddest story I have ever seen. The pain in unimaginable but still it grapples the heart to face such a loss in life.
Good to see Kevin! I've been watching the old WCCW on Peacock and reliving my youth through the Von Erich and Freebird feud!
His own family is what he says keep him going. Anyone else feel like giving him a Pat on the Back or cheer his name when we see him?
I loved watching the von Erich s Wrestling at the old Sportatorium right around from my Granddads transmission shop D.A. Blankenship and Sons back in the 60s & 70s. It is wonderful to be able to see just one of the von Erich's still around. 🙏❤️
Awesome video. Kevin is a great man and great inspiration. Praise God. I do my best to keep my focus on my faith, my family and my fitness. That works for me and keeps me pointed in the right direction. 👍
Kevin is a true inspiration. What he has been through would have killed most of us, and yet he has persevered and still has his faith and come out on top
Loved Kevin as a kid and all of the Von Erichs. They were Texas royalty.
so many words of wisdom in that piece...
Brought back my fond memories of watching the Von Erich’s with my dad in Texas as a child … Kevin was always my favorite! He has great inspirational words for people. Giving God the glory is good! Through it all he still has enough wisdom to motivate!
Thank you Sir for your perseverance, you are my hero in life and the wrestling business. Be Blessed 😇❤
What amazing fortitude! So glad he's still standing. I remember watching the Von Erichs wrestle as part of my Saturday ritual when I was a kid. I've also lost a brother. It's a different kind of pain.
This man made me want to grow up and move to Texas. The Best❤
Losing a brother to mental health issues that leads to suicide is the saddest most painful thing. Knowing you'll see each other again someday will be an indescribable healer
The 80s were the golden years of wrestling so many regions and entertainment. I watched wrestling even late night.
Kevin Von Erich, the Keanu Reeves of professional wrestling, for better or worse. Thank you.
Just like Keanu Reeves is the Kevin Von Erich of acting.
These guys really impacted not only wrestling but also people’s everyday lives. GOD BLESS THE VON ERICH’S!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this! ❤😭
Couldn't imagine losing all my siblings in such a tragic way. The pain that Kevin's heart must have been incredibly heavy burden on him. Glad that he was strong enough to battle through the pain and managed to stay alive all these years.
This guy is such a humble legend
Man I hope they don't mess that movie up. It is such a remarkable story. I hope, if he's telling stories on stage, they'll be recorded for international viewers to see. The Von Erich and WCCW story is remarkable. One of the greatest stories in wrestling. A tragic story but an incredibly poignant one
Seeing Kevin grow out of everything that life threw at him, makes your problems seem so insignificant.
It's probably been said before, but _I_ never heard it, so I'll give it to Kevin. - 4:16 - " *A man doesn't learn as much from winning, as he does...from losing* .
Hi Kev! I love the Strength, Faith & Love you have shown! You will always be My Ultimate Warrior.💛
Brings me alot of joy seeing Kevin Von Erich and the rest of the family being relevant still in 2023
Wow! This is a strong, introspective man.
Just knowing the pain and hardship this man has endured throughout his life...What an inspiration...Love you Kev.
Thanks for the memories
So many Saturday mornings watching these guys 😢

He seems like a great guy and its wonderful that at least he is alive to share these incredible stories and memories. Legend.
Came here after watching the movie, and I'm not ashamed to say that I may have shed a tear or two by the end of it... Having a brother, and three sisters, who I'm very close with, I couldn't imagine going through what Kevin has... He's an extremely strong man, I woulda went completely off the rails, and never came back...
Glad you are well Kevin!
God Bless you Kevin ! I grew up in Dallas watching all of you and so many memories! Thank you for all you did and the strength you endured to Push forward! Love you Bro ! 💪🏻🙏🏻
Because of him …I fight everyday, I so appreciate he’s words and he’s power to walk the walk… but still be here to live to tell about it…Thank you Kevin🙏🏽☝🏾

Such a good man….so glad he made it out the other side. I know a thing or too about loss unfortunately. This New Yorker has really enjoyed that piece of Texas. Thanks Kevin and thanks to your family for being a part of our lives.
I remember watching him and his brothers fight. What an exciting time it was!! These men were the best and I believe they'll always be remembered that way.❤❤
So good to see Kevin back in Texas he's part of the greatest dynasty in wrestling history! They should have rebuilt the arena up and re started WCCW!
He was there 4 years ago showing his boys things and telling them stories its on utube
@@dylanbarnes9191 I love that man I grew up in that era!! I'll search for it
It was so hard to pick a favorite. The moment we heard Von Erich all you could hear were cheers. And we danced every time they win❤❤❤
One of the SADDEST Stories in Wrestling HISTORY!!!!! It's Unbelievable!!!
Remarkable family! Belated condolences for their losses.
I watched the Von Erich's wrestling when i was growing up and remember the deaths and how Kevin was the strong one all of the time. Funny that now, he has a ranch right near mine and i drive by it alot every time thinking of the good ole days......thank you Kevin for keeping the name and your family strong!

I used to watch him as a kid .
He's a living legend and STILL A HERO ❗💪🏾
I came back to watch this piece one more time. It's so great to see Kevin, and listen to him speak. I mean him and Kerri were like Super Heroes to me and my little brother.
I would be Kerri, and he would be Kevin. For a kid in the 4th grade I had quite the drop kick which I put on display during many neighborhood King of the Hill battles.
The leg scissors is a move that I have actually used many times in real life fights.
I still terrorize my nieces and nephews to this day with the Iron claw. I live out in small town East Texas, I got my eyes open now, looking forward to the day I get lucky enough to run into him.

I live in San Francisco but for some reason we use to get to see WCCW from Texas and i just became glued to the promotion it was the best better than WWF, AWA and NWA. The Von Erich family were the best but when all the tragedy started to happen it was hard to believe or understand especially when you are a 9 year like i was. I'm glad Kevin has kept it together.
As someone who has lost 2 best friends to suicide, Kevin is a shining light for those of us surviving and thriving
I grew up watching The Von Erich’s in World Class and Kerry was one of my favorites of all time! I remember seeing a promo with him in WWF at the Tim with the Road Warriors, Ultimate Warrior and Kerry teaming up and thought and thought no one could ever beat these guys! I know the the story, I love The Von Erich’s and know I’ll shed some tears when I see the movie.
He have hard life. Its not easy to lose your brothers like that . And still he is ok . God bless him . He sound so sad
Man I wanted to be there the Von Erichs are the pride of Texas its history of Texas🤘🏾
Kevin's perspective and raw honesty is inspirational to me, after losing a best friend and former band mate who passed in his sleep at age 49, losing a good friend who OD'd, losing my mother, and my father-in-law, all in 5 years - it was crushing to me. God gives us sunshine to light the way forward though.
Grew up watching the Von Erichs and they were out saturday morning ritual...Amazing athletes and even more amazing is how Kevin which was my favorite has been dealt a bad set of cards and has thrived with his own family and it is an inspiration to me. He is a great father and a great man and i wish him the best....
