Late to noticing your reaction, the one fun fact I have to share that’s possibly already been divulged is that during the filming Robin walked around San Francisco as his Mrs. Doubtfire character, one of the places he went into in character was a sex shop inquiring about the items inside. Hilarity ensued as it wasn’t initially grasped by the workers at the shop that it was Robin.
Oh and as long as we’re recommending Robin Williams movies, you should really check out Awakenings… it is based on a true story and as a warning it isn’t a comedy, but it really shows how great Robin was as a serious actor as well, even in his early days when that pretty much all he was k own for. It also stars a young Robert DiNiro…

Robin and Sally really fought to have it end with them apart, this movie was for everyone, but it was a love letter to kids who don't get to see their parents get back together, and show them that it'll still be ok

I just wish there was some sense of loyalty toward Robin's character in Sally. He is the father of her kids. Instead, she jumped at the chance to destroy him
@@LukeLovesRose I think it's clear that what we see in the beginning was a LONG time coming. I don't think she "jumped" at anything. I think he'd been an irresponsible screw-up for a long time, and she finally reached her limit. Yes, he eventually figures out his s***, but she had moved on by that point.
@@derekhiemforth I'm talking about after the whole Mrs Doubtfire debacle. But no matter what, theres nothing really likable about her character. Theres never any connection between her and Robin, outside of the Mrs. Doubtfire costume. She treats him like he got abusive or something
One of the great things about this movie is that no one is a villain. It would have been so easy to make Daniel the "good guy" and Miranda (or Stu) the "bad guy," but it's so much more powerful that they're not. Everyone is just trying to do their best to do the right thing.
Miranda was definitely the villain. She had no right to try and keep the kids from him. 100% the villain.

Daniel had to job and thus no way to support the kids, he had no housekeeping skills thus he couldn't provide a safe and sanitary place for the kids to stay. Yes Daniel was good loving father but he really was piling everything on Miranda. She was basically the sole source of income, always had to clean up his messes and thus had no time to spend with the kids which isn't fair. You also get to see the negative affects Daniels no rules all fun lifestyle was having on the kids when Liddy showed no respect for Mrs. Doubtfire's authority when she told them to go do homework and she refused and wanted to do things her way and watch their show
I would say Miranda's lawyer was a if not the villain; she took too much pleasure from hurting Daniel.
At the end, Hearing him talk as Mrs Doubtfire about parents and divorce and then hearing him say “bye-bye” knowing that he’s gone now just breaks me so much 😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

I recommend the movie Hook. A highly underrated Robin Williams movie. Directed by Steven Spielberg, music by John Williams.

Something I always loved about the movie: Pierce Brosnan's character is actually a really nice guy. He's not mean to the kids or to Miranda, or even to Mrs Doubtfire. He's a perfectly nice, charming man who'd be perfect for Miranda.
I just bring this up because it's so easy in these kinds of 'couple having trouble' movies to introduce a potential new love-interest, only to have them be such a total asshole that it'll never happen. I love that not only do Daniel and Miranda not get back together, but Stu is a perfect guy to 'replace' Daniel. It helps cement the ending where Daniel and Miranda don't get back together, because they DIDN'T work as a couple.
Yeah I'm glad they didn't go "Couple gets divorced and the ex wife's new boyfriend is an asshole to make you want them to get back together."

This movie loses most of its credibility by trying to sell that Miranda would've ever had any kind of chance to get a guy like Stu to give her even a glance. It's just ridiculous because she has nothing but baggage to give. No looks, no personality. Nothing!
Liar Liar did the forced get back together thing and it genuinely weakens the movie and Audrey's character. Fletcher had cheating on Audrey throughout their marriage, confirmed by her line to him, "When we were married, I wasn't having s*x NEARLY as much as YOU were." Why would it make sense for her to get back with a guy like that? Plus, the guy Audrey's was seeing (forget name, Cary Elwes' character) wasn't a bad guy. It makes no sense that she'd take Fletcher back when clearly she knows there are better guys out there.
"He broke the mould when he made me, dear" was a line Robin Williams improvised. How could it not have been, it is SO clever.
I saw this movie as a child, around the time when my parents had a divorce. I was so happy to see the couple in the movie not get back together, because that felt sincere and realistic. This movie helped me understand why sometimes parents are better off apart.
It's pretty amazing how Robin Williams can absolutely break your heart and fill it with joy in the same film. My Mom looked exactly like Sally Field when this came out, and my parents divorced. It was close to home.
Many times he'll also make and break you in the same scene too.

Miranda, I have to say. Stumbling over your channel(s) is one of the greatest things ever. I grew up with those films. Watching you react to them for the first time, in most cases, is really refreshing. Greetings from Munich, Germany.
Regarding your question about doing different voices. I can do that and it is something you cannot really learn or rehearse. Yet you can get into character and really sink into it. However, for me it is more like a hobby - I'm an English teacher. Though, it sometimes helps in class. As they say: As a teacher you are 80% entertainer and 20% teacher.

This was such a joy to watch thank you for this reaction. I grew up with this movie, but I definitely appreciate it a 100x more as an adult. To this day this still remains as one of my top favorite movies. Robin Williams will forever be a national treasure. He was taken from us too soon. 😥
It always makes this old man happy when a movie of this quality can hit home so thoroughly with a person as young as yourself! Not many have that ability at such a tender age.
This movie is fantastic on so many levels. Every time you watch it, you pick something new. A lot of Robin's dialogue here was improvised by him. Killer line after killer line.
When I saw this as a teenager in the early 2010's, it became one of my biggest inspirations for being the voice impressionist I am today! I'm not an official VA yet, but I'm gonna keep working hard to make my dream a reality!

"Moscow on the Hudson" is a great early 80s RW's movie both set in Moscow (USSR) and NYC about a "transplant." It's a heartfelt, funny, sad, and poignant film for the time.
The thing about Pierce Brosnon in this movie is he’s actually a good guy, so it’s hard to hate him.

I seen this movie so many times as a kid. It can speak to anyone, at any age, when you're ayoung kid, you like the slapstick humour most, when you're a teen, you learn about the fragility of a relationship, when an adult, the absolute lengths you will go to for your kids, the memory of your own father who you only realize now did so much more than you realize, and the universal truth, that no matter what, mom and dad will love you.
Edit: also I've turned nearly as hairy as Robin Williams now, so that's fun. haha
I've seen this movie a million times and the more times I watch it, the harder I cry. I relate to this movie being a child of separated parents, though I ended up living with my dad and developing, along with my two brothers, a best friend relationship. Unfortunately our dad passed away in 2022, but his mark on my life is present every day. So thank you for this lovely reaction video to one of my absolute favourite movies which reminded me of him in all the best ways. ♥

If youve never seen Good Will Hunting, it is such a Robin Williams gem. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck directed the movie and it is amazing.

Mrs. Doubtfire is Robin Williams at his finest! This was the first movie I saw more than once in theaters. After I saw it with my friend I dragged my mom to see it with me because she is a huge Robin Williams fan and I didn't want her to miss it in theaters.

From how much I see you loved this movie and from how perfectly it suits you when you laugh, I have a suggestion for another one you should watch … if you haven’t seen it already, that is - “Just Visiting”. I am positive you’d love it. All I can say about it without spoiling anything - it was a comedy that made me pause several times to make use of the bathroom from such laughter.

Rip To A Great Actor, Comedian Robin Williams, We Still Miss You Always
This was a really great movie that meant something to me as a kid. My mom died when I was 7, and for a while I was kind of jealous and bitter when I was around families that were still together. But the message at the end about there being all kinds of different families, and love being the key. really helped me to feel better about my situation. For a little while, I watched this whenever I was sad about my life. It really did help a little bit along with all the other help I was getting from my dad and in therapy. Looking forward to what's next! ✌🤓
MILD SPOILERS FOR "GOOD MORNING VIETNAM":
"Good Morning Vietnam's" comedic bits did not age well. It's very referential comedy, and a lot of the jokes require that you know about pop culture from WAY before my time and probably yours. So a lot of the comedy just doesn't hit anymore. That's the problem with comedy based on what's popular at the time. Those references get old and eventually viewers don't get it anymore. I still recommend watching it, because it's still a good story and Robin WIlliams is always entertaining, but the comedy Isn't all that funny when you don't get 80% of it. Fortunately, from what I've seen, most of your viewers seem supportive and reasonable, so hopefully they'll understand that the humor is outdated. I was really shocked when another reactor was recommended "Good Morning Vietnam," didn't understand the jokes and thus had a very mixed opinion of the movie, and then the comments were FILLED with hate about respecting the classics, and being too dumb to get it, etc. Some people really need to adjust their attitudes. Some of the "classics" just don't hit with modern audiences. They're just too outdated to have the punch they used to for a variety of reasons.

A common aspect of these films, including Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Morning Vietnam, is the remarkable ability of Robin Williams and the screenwriters behind him to fuse drama and comedy so naturally and meaningfully.
It's a testament to a mature literary approach that takes seriousness and humor as complementary. The best humor often comes from a dark place, allowing us to face otherwise hard subjects with greater ease.
Contrast that with so much writing now that just forces "un-seriousness" for the sake of it with no sense of context or realistic balance. Definitely part of a larger American cultural shift, but I'm grateful we have had so many great works and a good portion of them thanks to Williams.

As Miranda mentioned, Sally Field did a phenomenal job delivering those lines. She captured all of the emotions in a very short time.
As weird as it sounds, thank you for crying at the end. I am really emotional and a lot of movies make me cry. Nobody seems to understand at all though why this movie makes me cry. That speech at the end is so sad. Imagining the pain, confusion, sadness and even anger of a young child experiencing her parents divorcing. The way he approaches that is so beautiful and hits me so hard every time. I adore this movie
Out of all the 90s movies I love and grew up with, this one is easily one of my favorites and has aged beautifully, truly a wonderful film.

Great reaction. It's a great comedy, but also a great family drama. It deals with tough but important issues in a hilarious and touching way that anyone can appreciate, but that even a kid as young as Maddie could understand.
Saw a comment on another reaction that apparently originally they were meant to get back together but several people, including Robin Williams, begged them to reconsider. I think the main reason was that they didn't want to give false hope to children of divorced parents.
You are a very unusual reactor. I was SO impressed when you started finishing the songs Robin Williams was singing when he was trying out different personalities. You knew all the words, then you mentioned voice lessons. I watch a lot of reactors, and they by and large are just people who don't know anything about older movies and are trying to make a buck on YT. Maybe you find this funny that I would be impressed with this, but your reaction just had the effect of intriguing me with your background and education. You're an interesting person. Hi Miranda!🙂"Good Morning Vietnam" was huge when it came out at the theaters. It holds up very well, too! Somebody knows her music.😉The song choices are great here. If you want to watch a funny film about getting a new perspective you should watch "Overboard" (1987). This was a very funny film with Robin Williams talents on full display. This movie is already a comedy classic, top of the list. Your complete and utter joy watching it was very infectious.
I enjoy Robin Williams too. Here are some suggestions of lesser known RW movies but all are very good. 1) Bicentennial Man - A sci fi comedy/drama based on the writings of Issac Asimov. Very thought provoking and timely. 2) Awakenings - Drama based on a true story. Also stars Robert de Niro. 3) Noel - An excellent Christmas movie starring Susan Sarandon. Robin plays a critical part in the movie but for some reason his role is not credited. Also starring Penelope Cruz, Paul Walker, and Alan Arkin. Seemingly unrelated character crises prove to be interconnected resulting in an emotionally satisfying resolution. Penelope Cruz does a little dance that any heterosexual man on the planet would find irresistible.
I find it wonderful that you and the younger generation have found some classics and are enjoying them as we did back in the day

This is probably my favorite Robin Williams movie. It runs the gamut from hilarious to heartbreaking. I know the ending is not what you expected, but I think it was real; Daniel and Miranda could not stay married, but they could become friends who happened to have kids. And they both can go ahead with their careers and ultimately their lives. So glad you enjoyed it.
A really good Robin Williams movie to check out would be Bicentennial Man. And also the movie Jack. Two of my favorite Robin Williams movies.

Hi Miranda, just a note: the lady that played Miranda's (Sally Field's) lawyer, was the eldest child in the TV Show, "The Nanny" with Fran Drescher.
This one came out shortly before my parents' divorce and as a kid this movie helped me cope with it a little better. No, they don't get back together and even though that made the ending bittersweet I'm so glad they went with Robin Williams' and Sally Field's advice and changed it to its current ending. Even though it hurts, it's much more real.
I am amazed how many people never mention “Bicentennial Man” when we talk about Robin Williams movies. I am seriously bawling my eyes out at the end of that movie every. single. time.

Good Morning Vietnam is fantastic. Very different from Mrs. Doubtfire, of course, but also has some excellent comedy and gut punch story moments.

Wow, you cry, I cry. Damn! Love your connection to this movie. As a person who went through divorce I can relate to much of this but I am a very lucky one (if that can be the case) in that I was the guy who got to keep my kids for the definite majority of the post-divorce time and just now during this enjoyable re-watching on your channel I actually had to consider thanking my ex for making the transition and her exit as easy as possible on me. I got the full deal with my kids, whereas "Robin" had to battle like hell.

I watched this movie in cinema and as a kid i loved it.
However, the more times you watch it, the more you will realize, this is NOT a happy movie.
Its a really spot on depiction of breaking up and the problems around it. With any other actor, this movie would be dark or even downright depressive.
I recommend the reunion video here on YT sadly without Robin Williams, but even after 30years they are so sweet to another
I saw this in the theater when it came out and had to remain sitting for a while after the ending.
There was no chance of reconciliation between my parents. But it was meant to be a part of my life. Even if I had the power to change one part of my past it would have a profound impact on my life today. It was necessary.
I was very lucky to watch most of Robin Williams' early success even before this movie and I truly thank God for that. I look forward to any more RW content you might add. The only way I can be sure to see it is if I hit subscribe and notifications. I'm sorry, but you're now stuck with me.

The part in the restaurant where his teeth fall into the glass , no one in the cast knew that would happen . It wasn't even in the script . So the reaction of when his teeth come out are REAL.

An amazing Robin Williams movie is, "What Dreams May Come". It's not a comedy... It is an emotional rollercoaster, but definitely worth watching at least once. However, if you do ever watch it, I recommend having tissues near by... You will need them.
