Most thorough break down of a DC 07 on UA-cam !!! I have one that I love and is still working in 2021. I bought it for $10 used ten years ago. I've had to make repairs over the years and I take it apart to clean. This video however is so thorough I now want to take mine apart and look for everything that needs replacement, right down to the seals. Thanks for the exceptional video. Just fabulous!!!

Thanks for the comment! You'll have yours fit for another 17 years soon enough! (I'd recommend a new internal floor head hose, a new filter set and a set of new baseplate wheels if everything else runs OK perks them right up! (inner hose needs some twisting adjustment once fitted so it clamps the floor head down to the carpet properly)

Was going to buy a new replacement but after watching this decided to fully strip down and service my dc07i as it seems identical apart from the HEPA filter. Have a new appreciation for it seeing how serviceable everything is. Also repaired the hose that was torn near top by taking apart and shortening and reattaching to the clamp and looks okay. Wait for it all to dry and we'll see if it's any better 🙂👍 thank you!

Nice, well done for saving it! Dysons used to be really repairable, up until the dc33 era. You'll find any part for your 07 for peanuts, even new motors are under £20! The hepa filter was just an option, either type fits all the machines so don't let that fool your parts searching! There's some differences with clutched and non clutched brushroll parts but bar that, the parts fit each other! I've seen people make multi coloured 07's too!

I've always heard about what superb machines Dysons are. I got this model from craigslist FREE section today. It's a POS. VERY poor build quality. I am SO glad I never plunked down the $700 (or whatever they went for) to get one. Thanks for the video! I'm trying to fix the one I got. It'll be a great bulk material vacuum- saving the expensive HEPA Kirby bags I use.

hi Robonza, the dc07 and dc14 both can make a trumpet noise, I find the hepa filter under the cyclone can have a loose rubber gasket. I pull the gasket to the edge of the filter wall and hot glue the gasket back in place. sometimes you have to go around the whole filter and it might take more pressure to put back in. but it will fix that trumpet noise

It's not too bad although easier with the machine stripped down, but if you undo the back screw that's flush to the surface, remove the filter holder and that elbow should move out of place and to the side. Then you can see the back of the clip and a few love taps with a hammer and screwdriver pops it out. New one pops in from above 🔨

@@arfanjhangir8465 I replaced my DC07 motor last year, and discovered that Dyson used two different motors for the DC07 - A YDK and a Panasonic. They are slightly different shapes and sizes - but it's my understanding that the rubber housing can be modified (trimmed) in order to make one or the other fit. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing that, but it may be possible.
The motor in the ebay link is the YDK motor. The YDK motors all come with wires attached, whereas the Panasonic attaches to the wires in the vacuum. If you were expecting the motor to have wires attached, then it sounds like have the correct motor. You can buy the plastic connectors for the wires anywhere - and they either push or crimp onto the wires. Super easy. No soldering! Good luck!

Easiest way to check is remove the pre filter and the cyclone and turn it on. Is the suction really really good from the chassis? If so, keep it running and put the bin on. Does it immediately block right up and blow the release valve? If yes there's a blockage. If the filters are really bad it can cause it too, you'll be able to tell when you remove them 😉

The very first Dc07's have some extra pieces inside the cyclone at the end of the lever and a guided structure. Dyson done away with this as they realised they would work just fine without. Another way to keep the manufacturing cost down I suppose.

Yes, the fin thing. I always leave that out if I rebuild an early model, never seems to bother it!

@@beko1987 I do the same! Now days the Dyson Dc07 goes for £40-£45 refurbished. Have gotten £50 on a few cases by selling with extra attachments or ones that are in excellent condition - do expect to be waiting around though!
