the audacity for the brake checkers to throw their hands up like it wasn't their fault is wild.
Note that "victims" never show us what did happen earlier.
And never, ever (even if u're last man on this planet) drive left. This lane is ONLY for overtaking.

As an apparatus operator/engineer for my home states OEM Critical Disaster/Mutual Aid response division our Squad vehicle, a heavily modified 6X6 is often brake checked by ignorant motorists when we are responding to a call, which means we have full auditory and visual alerts (lights and sirens) activated. The Squad has a six camera w/audio recording suite installed so not only do the vehicle's Owners/operators who do this dumb shit get hit with a reckless driving charge but also a deliberate impairment of an emergency apparatus and a forceable delay of and emergency response vehicle. Our squad's paint scheme is hi viz (Red/White with reflective strips on the massive front push bumper, Sides, and rear reinforced blocker plate bumper) so it leaves a lot of other motorists scratching their heads as to why idiots would behave so recklessly. The most used defense is that they thought the squad was a tow truck looking to by pass traffic, There is no way one could mistake the squad as a tow truck with flashing red lights a siren and numerous deck guns from front to rear.
I love how people are in such a hurry, but have all the time in the world to brake check other people.
I hate it
and literally completely stop on the highway
"I'm in a hurry so I'll slow down to 35 mph in the fast lane, that'll show this slow guy" 😂
To be fair I did it one time, I have a fairly regular car and I was trying to get home. Found myself behind a Mustang GT with a cringe Demon paint job driven by some obese neckbeard.
For some reason, presumably me driving somewhat close but but still half a car gap away, dude stopped dead right in front of me like he thought I was gonna get out and fight him. I waited a few minutes behind him, then when he didn't move I put my turning light and went on my way. As soon as I get in front of him, dude revs up to max. At that point Idk what he thought was gonna happen. I have an 8.1 0-60 dude has at least 5 sec or less. Was gonna get hit either way, but if he was gonna hit me, wanted to make sure his precious douche car was nice and broken. My car can be replaced for like 9k, whatever. That dude may never be able to replace it with all his cringe custom stuff. Don't even know what made him mad, small dick I guess. Mind you this was all on a quiet town road, not even a highway. I don't know what was going on in his head, but if he revs that car there's no way I can accelerate fast enough to get out of the way. Lucky for him, he seemed to reconsider. Guess he realized if he smashed up his car he'd have nothing left to live for.
Normally I hate it but I felt justified that day, even though it might not have been. Not that anything happened. Just some weird ass behavior.
I'll still be able to drive away, they won't. solid metal bumper on my RAM 3500 and custom wrap around bull bars. Brake check me, I beg you. LOL. I've hit a tree doing 20 while out in the woods driving between farms and just a small dent and scratches. Cars crumple easier LOL
Here's my top tip: if someone pulls out in front of you in a slightly predictable way then don't get involved by flashing your lights, speeding up or sounding your horn. Just adjust and ignore them.
I followed your "top tip" today. Some guy pulled out in front of me so close that I had to come to a complete stop in the roadway. I didn't flash my lights, I didn't honk my horn, I didn't yell at him or even gesture at him. Just adjusted to the situation by fully stopping in the road to let him turn out and ignoring him afterwards. I surely saved myself and my passenger wife the stress of a road rage reaction from the guy had I decided to honk or yell at him. Thankfully I did not get rear-ended when I unexpectedly had to slam the brakes to a full stop.
@@BadDriversOfNapaif someone’s gonna shoot me over honking at them then whatever, they’re just gonna shoot me.
A lot of these cammers need to take defensive driving courses 😂
If half of these cammers just let people merge there'd be no issues

I love how people act offended when they get hit after brake checking someone.
I mean, they got what they asked for, so not sure why they're angry
I know right, literally did it to themselves 😂
Depends on why they're brake checking in the first place - from what I can tell a lot of it is caused by the camera recorder hogging the passing lane and playing lane manager. Prime example is @2:19. Got flashed from behind and did not respond appropriately - even if the other car is exceeding the speed limit - you are not there to play cop.
@@kevinrtres There's never an acceptable time to brake check. It's always a selfish act that endangers others, even innocent bystanders, for selfish reasons. If you ever do it in any instance, you will deserve any outcome that you have to pay or suffer as a result.
I always brake check people who are aggressively close. They get so angry. Why ? You can't be up someone's bumper, expecting no repercussions 🤷♂️😆
2. Brake checking was uncalled for but two Subarus both driving the exact same speed is definitely rage inducing
Omg yes
Spartanburg SC needs to understand the left lane is for passing and slower traffic is to keep to the right. He instigated the road rage. Wonder if he thinks the cost and time was worth it.
I was looking for this
#2, both were wrong; hence why both were cited. The left lane is a passing lane. Yet, too many people just drive slowly and hog the lane. The only legitimate reasons for him to have been in the lane were to pass another vehicle or to turn left from the middle turning lane. Otherwise he should have moved back to the right lane to travel instead of being a lane-hog and impeding the flow of traffic by matching the speed of the vehicle to the right. It doesn't justify brake checking, made even more ludicrous because the man had kids in the car. But it's legitimately frustrating for other drivers and an act of selfishness to cruise slowly in the left lane.

It seems very few of these people were driving defensively. Half the time it seems they didn't even bother attempting to slow down after the car shot ahead of them then hit the brakes. Here's a hint, always expect everyone on the road to do the stupidest shit at any given second. Always be prepared someone is going to cut you off, pull out in front of you, turn in front of you, or merge into your lane right next to you without looking. Most of the time you can tell they're going to do something stupid before they do it.

#6: No matter what the beef is, brake-checking is illegal. Say goodbye to your affordable insurance premiums, pal.
Insurance? Optional.
Yeah, the guy (non-cammer) was very far off. Cammer did great Let him call 911. And he had plenty of time - at least three seconds - to merge to the left lane.
It's also worth pointing out the video shows him essentially brake checking 2 people at once having been over the lines and the van was braked next to cammer. Big dumb.
The brake checker is a fool, plenty of room to merge. As for a stop sign, that white line on the road edge(fog line) is a defacto stop sign, a stop line.
Isn't tailing illegal as well?
Grown men sounding like they’re about cry over a fender bender is wild
I've noticed quite a few possible 50/50% accidents in this video. People need to remember that just because you have a dashcam, doesn't mean insurance won't find you at fault for a percentage of it.
Failure to avoid an accident is one of the main sticking points here; a good accident investigator is going to pick up on that, especially if you've got a dashcam. What you see here isn't so cut and dry.
Exactly. It's well established law in most states that, if you reasonably CAN avoid an accident, you should do so, even if the other person's at fault. Example: Parents shouldn't let 3-year-olds play in the street. Does that mean you can just mow one down if there's one in the street when you come by?
I got cut off by someone in oncoming traffic whipping a sharp left turn across double yellow lines and 2 lanes of traffic. My insurance hit me with a 10% at fault for not driving up a 45° embankment to avoid the accident.
@@therealteal620im pissed off for you. Thats terrible. Insurance companies just looking out for themselves. Thats why I always lawyer up on big car accidents
@@therealteal620something simaler happened to me. #10 & 13 if the cammer’s weren’t tailgating these accidents would have been avoided.
Indeed. There is really no such thing as 'break checking'. Deliberately passing someone then pulling in close to them and slamming on your brakes is just dangerous driving. In normal traffic people should have enough room between them and the car in front that they can brake and avoid the car in front if the car in front does an emergency stop. Where both parties have been charged, it's often obviously correct - both parties for dangerous driving.
might agree on the fact that cammers should have given more safety space, but both brakecheckers slammed on the brakes with nobody in front and this is not allowed.
#13 is getting a felony though so he totalled his truck, got a felony and is gonna have to pay damages
Not entirely true, because why would someone need to break out of nowhere for no reason? if there was not a single car in front of them for a while, but it would be a different story if there was traffic while they were tailgating, then the cammer would be at fault. But the person that breaks shouldn't have braked when there was no reason to.
@Jacam781 actually there is. It's a big problem where I live. People get on roadways and intentionally brake on the person behind them with no one around. We call that Insurance fraud.
I really think you all should get bull bars fitted to the front of your vehicles. It would make scammers think twice (or maybe more!) before brake checking any one. Hi from NZ
I've got a brush guard and a very loud horn on my truck. I've had people just about crap themselves when they try to cut me off and I lay on the horn for a few seconds.
Ive asked the company I work for if we can do that with our trucks and was flat out *denied* for liability. 🤷♂
Bull bars are illegal in many countries. It's illegal here in India.
I don't think my Honda accord could have one..
@@User-j63849j sedans usually doesn't have bull bars. Even if it does, it will look awkward.
2. I think them both getting a reckless driving ticket is because of the fact that it took so long for the OP to slow down after the impact hence why they hit the white car a second time. Also a median isn’t the place to park after an accident.
Definitely. The driver with the dashcam hit the red car on purpose. The kids didn’t deserve that
Also camping in the passing lane going exactly the same speed as the car to their right. This is what fuels road rage.
@@Sampsonay which could also be the reckless driving charge. It is a law to move if someone wants to pass you. Holding the lane and refusing to let someone pass is considered reckless because they then do this.
Too bad he should've never did that period@@happiepop
@@Sampsonay camping in the left lane is only illegal on freeways. How do you know the cam car didn't need to turn left soon?
I feel like a lot of these accidents can be avoided if you just let people merge. Road rage is not okay and break checking is extremely dangerous but some of those clips showed people trying to merge into the lane over and the cammer just wouldn't let them.
It is the responsibility of the merger to yield, non-merger has 100% right of way. Non-merger does not have any responsibility to adjust speed to allow anyone to merge, but you cannot adjust speed to prevent merge.
@MurgatroidGarfunkle Right I get that they didn't do anything wrong, but surely they can still let someone in and avoid this whole head ache all together

11. REMINDER FOR ALL 4 WHEELERS AND MOTORCYCLISTS IF YOU BRAKE CHECK A SEMI AND CAUSE A COLLISION, YOU ARE NOT GONNA WIN!
6:37 I’ll tell you why…. It’s because you were 1 foot away from her rear bumper….. what did you have to gain by being at a distance you couldn’t react to her driving decisions from? Other than damaged property.
Smoothbrain take. That was far from tailgating plus there was no reason for driver to hit the brakes
@@TomasUjhelyi it wasn’t tailgating at all but obviously he was driving too close to react to her which is why he rear ended her. The proof is literally the clip you just watched what do you mean? 😂😂 if he was 20ft further back do you think he would’ve wrecked? Probably not… because he would’ve been following at the correct distance. But yeah tailgating is even worse. You’re even closer and can’t react in time. If you were to see the accident report of this case you would see that if the cammer showed the footage to the police he would’ve received a ticked for “failure to maintain a safe traveling distance.” So It’s not a smooth brain take. It’s just The facts.
It's amazing how many people that are in a rush, tailgating and flashing lights at the car in front, who suddenly have the time to turn into brake checkers once they have passed said car! 😅
It’s the ones that brake check and cause an accident then get out waving their hands around like it’s all your fault and you hit them without them doing anything that tick me off.
#2 last chance doctrine.
You have to at least try to prevent an accident; if there is time and space to do so. Ramming the car over and over will get you charged as partially responsible.
Exactly, it looks like truck don't attempt to brake hard. It's sedan fault however truck had chance to avoid it or make less damages by even attempt emergency braking.
It's hilarious they think they can fight that in court.
8:35 had all the time in the world to hold that horn but couldn’t hit the breaks 💀
Brake checking should be exactly the same as assault. You can knowingly injure others over your temper tantrum .
I hate that traffic laws aren't amended to people who break check and are driving without a license, without insurance, ditch and are later caught by cops or lied to their insurance getting their license suspended and if they're driving without a license face a steep fine or straight up jail time. Citations and tickets are useless and don't really do anything to solve an increasing behavior.
My belief is that they catch at least one charge and have to pay out of their own pocket for damages and for any physical injuries.
100%. Start handing out serious jail time and then see how they behave. People will think twice about hit and run if they face 2 years in jail and full asset confiscation to pay the huge fine and victim compensation
City don't care who's fault. They just want $$ from both side.
Driving with no common sense should be one too
#5 you're lucky they only wanted you 30% liable when you changed lanes and sped up the side of someone who was indicating for quite some time that they were changing lanes/direction. Also the lack of avoiding action, where you leant on the horn instead of the brake. Oh, and the brake lights came on before they changed lanes....
it doesn't really matter because by law, the car was illegally passing a solid white line
Agree with you. Indicating was a good enough sign that the driver in front was going to change into that lane. Otherwise he/she wouldn’t stay behind the truck. Driver with the dashcam was impatient and not giving any space. Should be charged 50/50 in my opinion
Crossing a white line doesn’t mean you get to rear end the other car. I think this is more like 90% liability on the cammer.
A simple effort to yield to the driver in front would have been the rational thing to do. The camera driver was distracted talking on the phone.

4:49, no that is entirely you and your buddies fault. You're going 41 MPH up to a dead stopped intersection. Lack of forward awareness.
Few things. 1. Where I live the left lane is for passing, it’s a law. We have signs stating it. Speed up and or move over…slower traffic keep right. 2. Speeding around someone and braking checking is incredibly dangerous. 3. Being “cutoff” is in no way a reason to drive that way and potentially put numerous lives in danger. 4. #3: You brake check, you pay.
Yep that's the problem they look for a payday because they are too angry to care about themselves or anybody who is in that car with them
8:10, don’t be this calm guy getting shot at. You or your girlfriend will be dead as you calmly read off the license plate.
Brake checking should be a life-long loss of your driver license, and 10yrs in prison for attempted murder.
Especially if done against motorcyclists like in clip 7.
Tbf from what we see on 2 is that when we got the frontview… the guy is driving in the left lane just hanging next to the other car or slightly behind it. Move to the right lane if ur not passing someone
Exactly. As well as, you can plainly see he didn't attempt to stop when the guy brake checked him. His speed remained constant, compared to the car on his right, and is probably the reason why he was also cited with reckless driving. I'd love to see what happened when he fought it in court...
Wish I could read lips, as the cammer apparently had a few things to say about the other driver. Not only should he have been in the right lane, as you mentioned, but I get the feeling he slowed down just to be a jerk. And yep - he definitely did not brake at all or try to avoid hitting the guy in the red car. Even with a camera showing the brake check, I still would have done what I could to mitigate or avoid a collision altogether.
Since we're just making assumptions, let me throw mine in and say he probably was trying to pass but for some reason the car in the right lane wouldn't let him. It happens all the time, people know everyone's supposed to filter to the right to keep the passing lane open but simultaneously get offended that they're about to be passed.
As for whether or not he should've slowed down to avoid a very intended and malicious brake-check, the objectively correct answer regardless of anyone else's opinion is no. Brake-checkers are already trying to fight you, they're just using their vehicle as an extension of their will towards violence and harm. You as a private citizen are under no obligation to participate in another private citizen attempting to restrict your freedom to travel unimpeded just so they can bring you to a stop and initiate more violence against you. Should the cammer have rear-ended them? Probably not, but he's not in the wrong for doing so, he's just incredibly irresponsible with preserving the mechanical integrity of his car. He would've been better served trying to evade this person, but he 100% has the right to not play ball with someone trying to restrict his right to move freely. In the legal world, that's called attempted kidnapping.

Brake checking should be an instant ban on someone's driving license.
Absolutely. I would add that left lane camping on the interstate should result in a ticket no differently than speeding (it actually causes far more fatalities and is essentially the recruiting pool of people from which brake checkers usually spawn). Imagine a society where people just minded their own business on the roads. Let the cops handle the speeders; it's not anybody else's job. If you cruise along in the left lane, causing traffic congestion and forcing people to dangerously pass on the right, then you should get ticketed no less than a speeder. Eventually everybody would learn to drive a little more rationally again. We might be able to just get in our cars and drive places without so much frustration without the campers and brake checkers everywhere.
4:55 Yes, you were. The incident may not be your fault, however if you leave enough room for the vehicle in front of you and you get brake checked, in most cases, it will not result in an accident. You were even too close to your friend to stop in time.
Best fantasy fiction? Penthouse forums or "The drive got 4 citations and the cop put a bullet in his head just to make sure. The whole insurance company stood and clapped and upgraded me to a Ferrari"
Rare gem of a comment
There are cameras everywhere these days and yet these bad drivers blame the good driver and insurance companies play their games.
Insurance companies NEED bad drivers. Bad drivers are probably the majority of their profits.
Half of these are not "good" drivers
7:25 Wow what a genius way to teach a lesson!! Banged up his own car, got 6 citations and insurance won't cover the repair and he has to pay for it. Sure taught the other guy!! NOT.
Damn near every single one of these "accidents" could have been avoided if the cammers had used their brakes instead of their ego.
13:25 or so... "No no... you're completely right. You SHOULD have sped up and hit the car trying to get in front of you. Absolutely!" That was sarcasm. Even IF the driver of the rear-ended vehicle was lane jumping, why would you intentionally cause an accident? Fools in automobiles.
I basically posted the same comment haha
Yeah sorry but he has the dashcam so he's not entitled to courtesy! Letting someone insert themselves after properly signaling their intentions? Are you kidding me?
Rules and common sense dictate roughly the same. If you want to change lanes, indicate and wait until it's safe to do so. Speeding up can greatly help if there's room for that, but also give people in the other lane time to react. If they don't react, slow down and merge behind them. How hard can it be? If they want to be a dick and actively not let you in, in many jurisdictions they might not even be in the wrong legally so why would you as the merger willingly want to cause an accident?
What happened to common decency like tapping your brake when someone is trying to move over.
They might not have right of way but who the hell wins in a crash?
Usually the guy that cashes the insurance check is deemed the winner. 😁
@@me3333 That doesn't really matter when your car has two grand in damages but the insurance pays $500. Most people have deductibles.

@@me3333 You don't have to work the system to get that. It's automatic and it's about $900. I received one when someone rear-ended me while I was stopped at a red light. Knocked us all the way through the intersection and broke the front seats. It comes with a "you promise not to sue us later". My passenger had neck pain for six months.
And some people pay outrageous insurance rates and then intentionally try to get their car totaled so they can take advantage of a clause where the insurance would buy them a brand new car one model year newer (I had this clause on one of my past cars), and so they see a way to get a shiny new car and avoid a bunch of car repair bills that they had hanging over their heads already

6. The private STOP sign, unenforceable sounds like you are trying to justify blowing it and cutting some one off. Don't drive like a jerk and you will have less people mad at you.
I actually doubt their claim of it being unenforceable. There probably is language somewhere in the state motor vehicle code saying you need to stop and ensure it's clear before entering a roadway from a driveway. Also, most places consider parking lots of businesses that open to the public as "public vehicular areas" subject to traffic laws too. (It's how they charge people with street racing or reckless driving for doing donuts or drifting in those parking lots.)
@@Orxenhorf the stop sign is unenforceable, but you still have to yield to thru traffic already on the street you're turning on to, regardless of the existence of a stop sign or not.

Now all those random stop signs in said parking lot are NOT Enforcable

Maybe don’t tailgate people next time. Wow, crazy concept. I’m not a left lane camper. If I see someone behind me in the left lane, I’ll move out of the way. But if we’re on a two lane road or not a highway, don’t ride my bumper. You’re not going to get where you want to go faster if you tailgate.

You can see the car coming up from behind quite quickly at the start. Both are side by side but that wasn't for a long period of time. The nice thing to do would have been for the one driver to realize he was going similar speed to pull in behind him but it isn't acceptable to just pull in front and hit the breaks to cause an accident.

6:25 Ever heard of safety distance?? This accident was so preventable!
1:40 This happened to me ten years ago in a tunnel. I managed to brake at the last moment, but the entire column behind me was not so lucky because not all drivers had enough safety distance. The one who suddenly changed lanes and ran in front of me did not test the brakes, but had to brake suddenly because the column in front of him stopped. If he hadn't run in, I would have had room to reduce my speed without sudden braking. A little inattention and a real disaster, several seriously wounded and great material damage.
#10 Following way too close. 2 car lengths maybe a bit more at likely 60 mph, that’s on you for that accident.
It's always the person's fault that waves their hands when they get hit. But they always get humbled in the end 😂😂
Driving 101: Do not ride left lane! Especially when not driving speed limit or slower than other drivers. The left lane is a passing lane, and makes it dangerous for other drivers to have to pass on right.
Do not tailgate! You should be able to stop in time without hitting vehicle in front of you if they have to stop suddenly.

Okay, but if you are already in the lane, you own the lane. While it's courtesy to let someone in, you're under no obligation to do so. It's up to the merging party to speed up or slow down to give themselves room to get in. regardless of courtesy, the merging party IS in the wrong

Cruising along in the fast lane, or left lane, without passing or turning, is a ticketable offense. That's why people trying to pass flash their lights. They want you to move over so they can pass.
I noticed a lot of these videos are of people in the passing lane and are not passing anyone. I think some videos are being misrepresented.
See someone behind you "riding your ass" when you're in the left lane, move over, period. Let them go.
Good luck with ever seeing them getting a ticket. They usually have the highway backed up so much, the cops rarely find them.
It's not always a ticketable offense by itself. In Georgia, last I checked, it's illegal *if* someone is behind you and you are essentially blocking them. But, if the road is clear and nobody's behind you, it's not a crime.
