Same here. Ive wanted an oculus but never wanted to order online. I was told about this and it was 2 weeks out. Every video was losing their minds about how good it will be.
It’s so cheap because they plan on getting: Brand loyalty, Better reputation, At least small amounts of personal data, and the big banger: Advertisement money from eye tracking that will inevitably become integrated into headsets in the future
it was easily readable and looked fine though. making it another color would be ugly, but he could maybe try adding a shadow on it, it might be more readable that way and pretty much look the same.
Huge note, you have to use your legal identity with your Facebook account to use this. Making a fake account or identity results in a permanent ban and complete removal of your game library
I wish it would cause them to fail but in reality these headsets are so cheap they are probably going to attract a lot of people to Facebook who were previously not there. Down with zuc.

It's not the ads. It's your data they're after. And all you got is a headset that they sell you some 100 bucks cheaper than you would have gotten otherwise. It won't be long until companies like health insurances will be all over this and will include the medical data from your last beat saber session into consideration when they offer or refuse to insure you... @@manateevr1017 Selling data is a shitty business model. That's not how megacorps work. Data is valuable - why would they let go of the thing? Unless they use adblock; the whole business model depends on masses of people not doing that. And they don't, mostly. Just like televisions, you know? TVs are way cheaper than they should be (tech wise) but the companies gather data from you and sell it, so they cut the price to attract more users.
Yea.. My fear on this headset is if i put my age on facebook my real age (14) will it block me from playing mature games. I dont really care that facebook sells my info im sure my info has been sold already

It’s so cheap because they plan on getting:
Brand loyalty,
Better reputation,
At least small amounts of personal data,
and the big banger: Advertisement money from eye tracking that will inevitably become integrated into headsets in the future

I am one of those people... yeah I'm pissed but not as pissed as I should be
yeah, it really does.
Step 1: Make a very good headset but heavily under-priced
Step 2: Lure VR users to your platform due to the low price
Step 3: Only get exclusive deals on developers, which offer they cannot reject as you have most users on your platform
Step 4: You aggresively destroyed any competition with this approach. Yee monopoly!
Step 5: Now let the adds rain!
It's not the ads. It's your data they're after. Think a generation or two ahead - the sensors by then will measure eye direction, pupil dilation, maybe even heartbeat, they can track your facial expressions and all that data goes to whoever wants to pay for it. And all you got is a headset that they sell you some 100 bucks cheaper than you would have gotten otherwise. It won't be long until companies like health insurances will be all over this and will include the medical data from your last beat saber session into consideration when they offer or refuse to insure you...
It is nice that FB wants the OASIS to be a reality, but it would have been even nicer if they pull it off without becoming IOI in the process.
Don’t forget step 6! Log data and sell it!
As Jemerey Clarkson, former presenter of Top Gear said ‘Oh No! Anyway...’
Cheap headset, good specs, good games (i’ll guess), idgaf what the big zucc does with my eyes to sell my data, i got an insane headset at a brilliant price!
@@manateevr1017 Selling data is a shitty business model. That's not how megacorps work. Data is valuable - why would they let go of the thing? I'm gonna wait for the official price to do anything with my Reverb G2 order. Heck, I'll probably get both, compare them, and sell whichever one I like least. I'm leery at the word "compression," but I love the idea of standalone VR at almost Reverb G2 resolution.
Where could u sell ur headsett ??
@@justbeatsaber6512 ebay, return it, sell of amazon...
I agree i kept my Index order, My G2 order and when possible Ill order a 3080TI or maybe Big NAVI lol doubt it but maybe if its good.
@@justbeatsaber6512 yeah, what cjx4 said. Probably ebay.
2:52 Easy Money Strategy
Everytime something new releases I feel like I need to sell my old/"now outdated " Stuff.
I already opened EBay in order to sell it.
But no. I am not going to declare my rift s garbage as long as I don't need anything better.
I should really spent my money on something more important than this upgrade.
@Cherry I doubt that the rift s is going to be like a gameboy someday as it's just not the start of a generation anymore.
@Cherry Gonna keep my CV1 for keeping it - and that exact reason as well. Still got my Diamond Monster 3D, Sound Blaster 16 and some other nice things :)

That’s around the same should we buy new ones?
Yea
And remember Facebook can disable your headset with a flip of a switch whenever they want
Yeah that’s kinda dumb that you need a FB account FB keeps buying everything
Just like your car, water, smartphone, eletricity, gas, IoT gadgets and everything else that someone else delivers to you or have any means of connecrivity? What's your point?
They legally can’t do that.
@@Newspaperman57 if you are letting someone put cameras in your house and live stream your every action just to get heat into your house, you've got to be in some extreme North Korea type shot

I got the oculus quest,.. 2 months ago and I wasn't mad when I heard about the new oculus quest 2 I don't wanna upgrade i wanna wait until next year for a better oculus headset

lol
Can you be specific in how many months ago you bought your quest 2
@@LlamaLogic dude, he bought Oculus quest,.... 2 months ago. he's missing a comma there.
Does your daddy know you used his credit card to let a strange man record everything in your house?
A bit sad to see no improvement on battery placement. The quest was super front heavy, it would be nice if some components could be moved to the straps

Welp, its now a collectors item. In the future, you can probably sell it double the price.
Eric B. I doubt it that’s like saying selling the google cardboard for like 50 bucks these days so many people have it it’s not collectors
You guys can all still play it though. It’s not the end of the universe, you could also just sell it for how much the Oculus Quest 2 will cost.
Literally the only thing stopping some of my friends from getting one is the new Facebook requirement, which is honestly depressing if this thing will be 300
same. however if german laws are able to stop the requirement of a facebook account over here in germany, I’ll cancel my G2 preorder and get this instead.
Make a VR focused facebook account? It sucks but that's probably what most people will do.
@@hiddenmimic3935 No, Facebook automatically bans accounts that don't have their owner's real name on them.
λ - Hidden really? I'm surprised my account hasn't been banned considering its called Gumball fucking Watterson

GUYS WHO ARE SAD THAT YOU JUST GOT THE QUEST V1:
It's now a collector's item. In the future, you can probably sell it double the price. Also, not many people can afford to even have a personal VR set. Many go to stores and community areas to play (of course, when COVID wasn't here)
Hears no wireless pc gaming: “Well sticking with wireless Vive Pro”
Heard $399: “Take my money.”
Could be 299
Yeah 299 for the 64 gb version sounds like a steal
“Higher res than the Valve Index.”
Wait wut
the current quest already has the same resolution on the index (1440 × 1600)
Index was never the highest resolution headset, it was the reverb and pimaxes
It’s true only for 300 dollars 🤯
Sean I’m in Australia so it’s more but it’s still super cheap for what it is
The index has far superior sub pixel layout
It’s a shame it requires a Facebook account. I’d love to buy one but that’s never gonna happen with Facebooks cancer growing all over it...
Thank you for not falling for their obvious bullshit of pissing off users only to release something very nice knowing it will appease them. They're boiling the frog but bring the heat down just before it dies in a hope the frog will be thankful for being saved by the very person thats boiling it ...
well just because you have to create one doesn't mean you'll ever actually have to use facebook
that’s the only thing stoping me from getting it
Eagle J. Simply having an account with them is to much for me. I don’t want to be on there platform, I don’t want to agree to there terms of service, I don’t want to bend over because they tell me to. I will die on this hill.
J Playz vr honestly same. Looks like a great headset but being required to have a Facebook account is far to high a price to pay.
