Has anyone looked at the videos from 5 years ago and noticed how Daniel looks exactly the same, and Rex has turned into a whiskey fueled cave man?
Well, Daniel did trim his beard in the interim.
Daniel is more trimmed and his teeth seem nicer.
I love all 3 products from Redwood Empire. Their Emerald Giant Rye and Lost Monarch Straight Whiskey blend are both excellent. Their Pipe Dream Bourbon is also great, but less so compared to the other 2 bottles.
Love Lost Monarch. Can't wait till their cask strength line up hits this fall!
Whoa! That'd be kewl. Had not heard. Thanks for the tip.
I know Lost Monarch is $40-45 in some parts of the country, but in California we can find it often for $30-35, which makes it one of the best values out there to me. Especially as a summertime pour.
I do enjoy finding Redwood Empire releases at that price. I very much enjoy those as well as the BIB.
30 in Chicago too
Just picked it up today in NJ for $35. Was pleasantly surprised
This is my Summer favorite bottle for $40 currently. Lost Monarch has a bubblegum note I enjoy, but I'm mostly impressed with how bright and balanced it is. Great review Gents 👏
I love this bottle. I just saw the sample label for the cask strength Lost monarch at 58.6% coming soon. So excited for that.
Writing this before even watching. I don't care what you say, good or bad, I love this whiskey.
Redwood Empire using MGP for their original three releases: Lost Monarch, Pipe Dream Bourbon, and Emerald Giant Rye. Their first two self made releases came out last year, both are BiB. Grizzly Beast is the bourbon and Rocket Top is the Rye.
Great comparison and breakdown of teh Redwood. I just got a bottle and I am enjoying it a fair amount. Cheers!
Apparently Redwood Empire utilizes a Micro-still/Headframe Still within the spirit they have been developing onsite, so I wonder if they sourced something that would compliment what they were creating well.
Definitely a MGP juice. Not a bad thing. The bottle says it all. 'Bottled in Sonoma County'. Their new bottles (bottled in bond) say 'distilled in sonoma county'. Grizzley Beast is their first in-house bourbon, which i want to try!
Grizzley Beast is well worth the hunt, good review of it on the Bourbon Junkies.
Dang I've seen that but didn't know it was their own. I'll have to look out for it again. The lost monarch is the only one I've tried so far
Rocket Top is great. That $80 price point is probably too high though for what it is.
Lost Monarch is one of my favorite sippers. Straight blood orange taste. Love it.
thats so cool. I just made a bourbon rye old-fashioned. Did not know that Redwood Empire was a mix and the Bourye was even out there. I love it. thanks for sharing. cheers.
This is one of my favorite whiskies. Especially in the summer next to the fire, I think it’s delicious. Will always reload on this bottle.
Yes! Sipping lost Monarch and beer by the bon fire. We did this a couple weeks ago. Monarch is so very crushable. Kind of sneaks up on you if you sat by the fire a little too long.
Tried a pour at the localyocal in McKinney Texas. Loved the Lost Monarch, found it at specs in Plano, took her home! Delicious
Purchased a bottle six months ago and loved it. Went back to buy another bottle but all stock was allocated for restaurant use only (Specs). Recently found it at (Total wine) and now it's in the daily drinker rotation. I'm in agreement with Rex that it's better than the High West for my pallet.
Totally better than High West. That said, High West Prairie Bourbon is $27 at Costco, so I still keep some in cabinet.
I know I'm a little late here, but thanks for the review guys. 🙂
Watched this after i bought some but before i tried it. Came back to say it was surprisingly good. I wouldn’t pay more than MRSP and don’t expect it to blow your socks off but a solid bottle!
Happy Friday Everyone!
I get a blueberry note from the Lost Monarch. It hits those fruit and botanical flavors so well that it's become one of my go-to's.
Had a pour of this a couple nights ago. Agree with it being MGP, but it's a nice blend. I actually like it better than High West Bourye.
I'm glad you did this video they have that at Vons and I was wondering whether it's worth trying or not. I'm definitely going to try it based off Rex's reaction. Just do a blind tasting with at least five different bottles and have your staff throw in one of your bottles. I'm sure you will be able to taste yours right away but who knows haha
From BB: 3 Years (According to the company website, a blend of 4 to 12 year old bourbon and 3 to 5 year old rye)
Mashbill: Blend of 60% Rye (95% Rye, 5% Malted Barley) and 40% Bourbon (75% Corn, 21% Rye, 4% Malted Barley).
A rare phoned-in miss. Rex seemed willing to give this more cred. It's a $30 bottom shelf no brainer at Binny's. The citrus notes make it brighter than most others down there.
Happy Fry day
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
TGIRWF...
Lost monarch has been my go to 40$ Bottle over the last year here in SoCal.
Yep, its up there as one of the best $39.99 bottles for me (NorCal). I also love Stranahan’s Blue Peak for $40.99.
This bottle is delicious!!
How would It compare to Yellow Rose American Whisky ?
RE is fire 🔥🌲
I, too, have read a book.
This is a great summer whiskey.
I haven't watch yall in so long. It seams like years. Lost a phone. And 2 more were stolen. Then I ran one over..... by then I just stopped watching alot of what I had subscribed to. And ya'll didn't have a video I hadn't seen. But now I've got some catching up to do. Going to sub immediately. Like right now. 4:40pm Fri July 29th.
Just finished a bottle of Pipe Dream, liked it but didn’t quite love it. I’ll have to give this a try though
Try the Emerald Rye and Lost Monarch blend. Both are better than Pipe Dream. That said, I do also enjoy Pipe Dream, but feel its the weakest of the 3.
@@EDHBlvd good to know, if its the weakest of the lineup then I definitely have to try the others!
Great stuff at a good price--especially their rye
As I sip along with this video, I get pear and wintergreen on the nose. Reminds me a lot like gin on the pallet. Rye spice lasts for a second or two. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it. Thin finish for me. Good pour for summer!
I've got HW Bourbon and RE Rye, maybe I should blend them?
Great bottle. In FL its easily under 40 a bottle and just awesome at that price. If you have not tried it yet, and have it in your area I encourage you to pick it up and try it!
Thanks for the video 🥃
That redwood empire is around $30 and everywhere! The Bourye from high west is so hard to find and much more expensive.
Can you please do
Old virginia bourbon
Review
I have been looking for Grizzly beast and Rocket Top. No luck. And Northwest Bourye is Utah only now
Wish we could get Bourye in Texas
For 35$ the lost monarch is a great buy
Lost monarch is one of the bottles i reach for most!
it's all mgp, i tasted with them at launch in april. they are working towards their own production but def. mgp they are making their own whiskey but the balls of the blend is from indiana. the rye is pure mint just like sagamore stuff. boys... the bottle says indiana on it
30 bucks here in OH. One of my favorites at that price.
This is one of my favorites around $40. Very great!
Daniel god damn can you let Rex speak lmao, Triggers me every-time you guys are speaking over each other a ton. Sometimes it’s Vice Versa like one persons saying some interesting history behind the whisky and the other talks right over them about a profile or something lmao
Redwood Empire has begun to release their own juice as part of its Bottled in Bond series. It is priced higher, closer to $80.
But I enjoy the regular Redwood Empire lineup. It’s tasty juice from MGP, good price point, readily available.
Reality check:
Bourye ~ $125 (or higher)
Redwood Empire ~ $35 (and significantly more available).
Drink the dram, don't chase the hype.
Cheers!
@@TerrenceKoch Agreed. I’ve sampled the Bourye, and it’s very good. But I think it’s important for Daniel to note the availability and price point of High West Bourye compared to an entry level blend like Lost Monarch.
I was just going to comment on the availability. So true that the Bourye is good but comparatively there is no arguing which is better overall. I’m unsure of the age on the Bourye but LM has good age on it too.
@@terrencemcdermott5840 Nice to meet you, Terrence. [I’m also Terrence.]
@@TerrenceKoch nice to meet you too! If they have an old HW Bourye I can see that being as good or better than the LM, but imo new releases of HW are not using as old of whiskey in them. I could be wrong, but pretty sure.
1:04 Rex: it requires a "fresh" approach
Daniel: *starts singing the intro to Ænema*
Finally! Been waiting for y’all to review this. I feel like my friends just discovered a band I really love.
Over home plate. lol that drink is a strike in my book I love it.
Lost Monarch is one of my favorite pours. Dan, how can you hate oatmeal? Rex, have you ever considered auditioning for a shampoo commercial?
what is botanical forward?
Lots of herb type notes
Lost Prophet, and Pipe Dream are really good. Lovely affordable bottle.
Do you have examples, of whiskies that are commonly available, of what’s from the different type of stills?
Also, I’m really surprised you don’t have a speed rail full of MGP. Just sayin’!
pretty sure LM is a blend of mostly MGP with some of their own distillate. Also, i think there is more rye in LM than HW Bourye (which is probably older as well).
All the info is on their site.
Guest reviewer for your whiskeys... PROBLEM SOLVED !
Can you blind your products against something similar for fun?
For once I'm ahead of these shows. I'm buying a backup bottle of RELM, so good.
I’m down for designing Daniel’s book. Definitely see the thing he hates as a large word along his reasons for hating the thing below.
Redwood makes the best blends in Bourbon IMO
Daniel - a dewey dell of disease
Also, John Muir is the one who wrote: "The mountains are calling and I must go..."
i'm surprised Danial didn't describe the redwoods as "hauntingly beautiful".
Hauntinkly.
I wonder if the marketing school can be incorporated into the marketing of the distillery. What better way for a current student to get their feet wet than to attempt to successfully market a whiskey brand that is actively being sabotaged by Rex's and Brianna's shenanigans. In all seriousness, I am curious if a collaboration between the two entities is possible. Like in the form of a UA-cam channel that is solely focused on the distillery's offerings.
😎
That’s how a prefer my Manhattan,1oz bourbon 1 oz rye !
Great. After thousands of rare and amazing whiskey. You land on over home plate MGP.
🥃✌️
I think Lost Monarch is a blend of theirs and mgp

The Subscribe sign is gone.
Poor mans Remus. Trust.
You guys should objectively review your own whiskey 😉😆🥃
Rex read a book once LOL
Bearded Kaos
"O-most"... again with Daniel and his ubiquitous "o-most." lol
Funny how the boys lose focus comparing a High West bourye....nobody really cares. Focus on how good the Lost Monarch is. Or whatever product you are reviewing..... Starting to lose interest in their channel
MGP is everywhere! Someone needs to make another mash build!
MGP has many mash bills.
Rex and Daniel! Can you guys donate some of your products to me so I can personally review it???
Why don't you guys donate some bottles to other review channels? Satisfy all the folks that have asked for a review.
You should taste all your whiskeys blind to see which one you might prefer blind 🫣😉🥃
