When we say we want a tutorial this is what we mean! All of my questions were answered. Ive never seen a more thorough tutorial for starting locs with the interlocs method.
Yes! You broke that down SO well (great graphics and all). 👍🏽 And to do your own hair IN THE BACK of your head with THAT much hair density... I am impressed! What a (worthwhile) PROCESS. 👏🏽👏🏽
As you can see from this video, this is why SL are expensive. It is a lot that goes into it to ensure the parts, grid and locs are correct. I applaud QueenEleem for tackling this. I have SL and no way would I have ever attempted this on my own. 🥰
The price essentially average $25-$35 hourly which is small for the work involved. Tedious , detailed work , nine hours and up standing causing back and foot aches.
You have the patience of God himself !!!! You installed your own sister locs !!! You saved your self. Like 2 thousand dollars for 20 inches of hair !!! I have 13-14 inches of hair and I was quoted $1,600 dollars for my sister loc install you are really impressive.
I’m a huge data nerd so I’m super impressed with the level of detail you’re approaching this style with. 🤓 Subscribed so I can see the end result! And thanks UA-cam algorithm for recommending this video to me. Clearly it knows how badly I’ve wanted locs but I’ve been procrastinating for no good reason 😅
Your layout and plan is mathematically sound! Great ideas. I would love to see a more in depth video @6:47 of how you came up w/plan/how you got to your numbers and how you got your head square footage (ahem 🗣)
Tatiana Victoria girl! I legit just turned the video off b/c I felt dumb to not be able to follow 😂 but she is amazing and I’m sure this works for others!
I was sold at “tensile strength.” Love the thought and research put into starting your journey and I’m looking forward to seeing more 😊 Great first video
This is AWESOME! thank you so much for sharing, I’ve been craving more freedom with my hair too but I wanted them TINY, my consultation wasn’t underwhelming and I just don’t trust anyone doing my hair; it’s challenging for me to keep my scalp moisturized bc my hair is sooo thick, I LOVE the empowerment of doing my own hair, this is sooooooo helpful and inspiring, I’m going to start calculating now! Thank you again!
Oh honey I need a qna video about you bc your thought process and detail is fascinating🤯 I always assumed you could math it (parting for styles in general) out like this but I would have never dared try😂 I love this
Awesome! Thank you so much. I've been natural for almost 8 years. I'm 4b/4c as well and I wear a lot of mini twists. I have decided to loc my hair so I've been doing a lot of research because I want to do it on my own. My plan is to begin my process in a couple of weeks. This is the first video of yours that I have seen and I am so excited to see more. Thank you for helping me learn so much more. Thank you so much for taking the time to share all these helpful tips.
Congratulations! You have made very extensive micro loc tutorials! I cut my SLs two years ago. I have sporting my hair loose. I decided to loc again. Since COVID, it seems very hard to find a SL consultant or a micro loc loctician that will not nickel and dime you for a install. I refuse to pay $1200-$2000! I 'am in NY! I` am so happy I found you and Tay La Dawn! You both gave me the inspiration to install microlocs myself. I bought my Loc buddy's book, THE KNOTTY TRUTH. (I still have her original book) I purchased your eBook. I needed to know how to customize my grid. Your book was on point! Thank you for taking the time to create these tutorials! The DYI Community is grateful. I 'am grateful!
Nubian locked princess?! Didn’t you have a blog? I totally referenced your blog for interlocking tutorials! So happy to help with your grid and happy that you found my Microlocs ebook helpful!!! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!! 💕
@@QueenEleem Yes! I have a blog at blog spot. I was the first to reveal the different rotations and how to start a interloc visually on UA-cam. I was trolled by the SL cult! I did not care! Learning to do it yourself is fundamental! Any way, my hair is 4'-5". It will be a challenge keeping the parts separated and straight. I` am looking forward to my new journey. The key is to have the knowledge to have control over your hair! Thank you again! I will keep you updated!😍
My daughter and I took out my SisterLocks during the holidays....beginning around Thanksgiving; finally finished mid January. I’ve been treating and conditioning my hair since then. The goal was to go back with regular sized locs After seeing you, I’m motivated to get going. You’re doing a phenomenal job!
Issa no for me! It’s hella cute, but those retwists 😭 probably taking weeks. They look so good though. Then again, they’re probably less daily/weekly maintenance 🤷🏽♀️.
It takes me a full day to retighten my micro locs. One 12 hour day every 6 weeks. I wash my hair every other day without dryness, don’t have to sleep with bonnets or scarves, no products needed. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Woman 540 locks OMG! My hair is about 6 inches and I am literally on day #7 with 4 sections left... But I did micro twists with only interlocked roots.. I cant wait to see your results
I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY THAT I FOUND YOUR PAGE!!!!!!! I want to get micro locs but I do not want to pay anyone. I'm pretty good at doing my own hair so this task will be easy thanks to you love❤❤❤❤
Looks great! I just did a big chop because I needed that freedom you talked about. If I had known about this, I may have tried this before big chopping. Enjoy your freedom.
Wonderful work! You have it down to the math...that's a whole new level of committment. I would love to see the parting grid from start to finish. This is what I needed to begin my locs. Thank you. Awesome job, my dear.
Whoa! Really impressive!! I just freeparted my 10 month old locs (3rd set in 20 years.) I wanted larger locs than micro, and so am very happy with what I’ve got, but you and your clear, meticulous system will surely be a godsend to many. I am SO impressed! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💖
I was impressed by your Instagram posts, I’m completely amazed seeing and hearing you talk about your DIY microlocs. You are so dedicated and inspiring.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve watch a few in past months and no one was as detailed as you. I love the breakdowns in how many braids to have and how many interlocks per braid. On to your next video.
I’m SOO glad I found your channel!! I installed my microlocs 5 weeks ago with mini twists. I couldn’t find a video that I liked that explained interlocking all the way down. So instead of doing a retie, in going to undo and interlock the whole twist. Subscribed!!
I've just decided to let my natural hair grow longer. And then start my sister loc journey. I'm so glad I came across your channel. You have things down to a science! I love it. And I look forward to seeing your journey and channel grow.
So detailed and helpful! Loc'd 7 years with palm rolling but can never get front edge locs to either stay or not bunch up a lot...really appreciate this video!
Absolutely amazing! I dont think I've seen someone go this detailed into starting locs. With grid lines, the important parts, everything. I have diy traditional locs that are small-medium size, and I believe your method would work for any size with adjustment. Will definitely stay tuned for your journey. Amazing job again!
Thank you for sharing! ✌🏾💜 Love your hair! I'm about to install my microlocs. I can't wait. I will start in a few weeks, a little more research for me. I am doing some math and trying to keep it around 350-400 microlos.
Whew. You have so much hair. It'll be such an accomplishment when you're finished. I completed my install in July. Best hair decision ever. I love it. 🤗💖
You’re awesome 🤗! Thanks so much for sharing! I plan on getting thick locs in January and I’d like to start them using interlocking to get the most length😁!
Meeeeeen! You are one smart cookie to figure all this out, especially if you are not a loctician! I couldn’t even get crotchet braids and that’s supposed to be super easy. I wear my hair in 2 braids and I can’t even get the line straight! But you’ve definitely inspired me to make straighter lines and I’m gonna try for 4 braids cos I’m thinking if this mad woman (cos it’s crazy even attempting this with no training) can do this super complex hairstyle girl the least you can do is part your hair in 4! It was super cute watching you explain it, although it sounded like Latin to me but it is great for those who have the gift for hair or the intelligence to keep up, I was already lost at the o’clock explanation. Your hair is coming out beautifully and really great video, thoroughly enjoyed watching it!😊
Awesome video. I started my interlock with two strand twists almost 2 years ago, and absolutely love the ease of wash days. It was one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made. You’re definitely more patient than I am when I decided to start my locs. You’ve definitely saved A LOT of money installing your own locs. I can’t wait to see the final results.
I’ve just shaved all of my hair off in December, tomorrow will make it two months since then, I’ve had sister locks when I was younger * I’m 17 now* I didn’t like them bc I would constantly get bullied because I had them. I took them out when I was in the seventh grade one by one on my own with a safety pin. I’ve had a journey with my hair and even though I’m young... I know what I want now because I’ve went through so much with my hair already. I am older now and I want micro Locs.... I plan on installing them myself of December this year. Your videos have given me so much advice. Thank you! New subscriber here lol. And yes can you please explain the interlocking method a bit more lol 😂
Man kids are awful. I was bullied in high school for having my hair natural (and by other ppl of color!) It’s usually other ppls insecurities that cause them to be so cruel so I’m glad you’re keeping yourself open to a microloc style even after their actions. And I’m so glad to help in any way I can. I’ll add video on the diff rotations and how to interlock specifically to my list 🙂
I’m super happy I came across this video, I’m currently starting mine today!!! Excited to kind of “grow” with a UA-camr and their loc journey while I’m on mine as well!
Hi sis, I have been considering locing my hair for years. I think I am finally ready and since the prices for salon loc's are not in my budget at this moment, I am considering home loving. Wish me luck!!! Your videos have been such a vibe and motivator. Wish me luck!!!
Thanks so much!! This video was so detailed and helpful!!! I couldn’t find any videos or braid locs or interlocking that was more than 2 mins🥴 Your hair and skin are so beautiful btw! Thanks again for the great video!
Amazing video! Subscribed immediately. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a parting video. I finished installing my DIY micro locs in 1st January and researching how to part my hair or how to get a good grid was sooooo difficult. It was by far one of the hardest parts of the process and it really demoralised me at some points because I love the look of a neat grid system. Because I couldn’t find anything concrete online, I eventually gave up and tried my best with what I could do. My grid is probably SUPER WONKY and I know for sure that my locs are different sizes all over. Watching you makes me want to start again on some level) your work is amazing! Please keep these videos coming. You are amazing! And I can’t wait to watch your journey.
What's most important is if you want a side part and middle part, and making neat same sized squares not so much a perfect grid. There must be some vids if you search microlocs installation or microlocs grid on youtube fb or pinterest. But i'd love to see how she did the parting herself. Skills !!
I am sooo glad I stayed up till 3am watching microlock/sisterlock videos because I found you!! LMAO, wow! I don't even know what to say, thank you so much for documenting and sharing this. You will definitely be a guideline for me when I eventually decide to take the plunge because lord knows my pockets aren't deep enough to get this done by a Sisterlock technician even though I love the style, THANK YOU!!
This is a great, informed installation. I thought I did a lot of research before I did my own locs, but you've got me beat! And you're so right about which method to start with. I started with braids, but switched them to twists to lose the braid pattern faster, but even now, there are a few locs that have split into 2 curls, and I have to interlock those when it happens.
Highly impressive. I have taken my daughter who's very young so called locs down because zi want her to have more options to styling as her locs mature along with her maturation overall.😉. I used very minimal product on her. My goal is to begin her hair the way most likely to be satisfactory for long lasting build up minimal and versatility. I lived all your reasons. I've viewed Vids for quite some time. Your vid by far is the best
I am so impressed with your hard work and determination. You have really helped me and i now got motivation to do this myself. I am a DIY fan and this wow. This is gold to me. Its all about saving those $$$
I am so glad to have come across your channel. You have definitely given me the go ahead to start my sisterlocks journey. I am just very sceptical of doing it myself so I will look for a qualified loctition to start it for me. I will be following your channel diligently in order to make sure my journey remains the best it can possibly be. God bless you. ❤
Tfs this! & this is your first video?! You go girl! If you become an Amazon affiliate you can put your own links for the products you are recommending in the description box and get a small percentage of those that use your link to get to the site.
I have watched many videos of self-install sisterloc/microlocs and you are the first one that said something about a three way mirror. THAT was one of the most vital facts you spoke about besides the grid and loc sizes/measurements. Your locks are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
This video is great and has inspired me to do my own! But because I'm such a visual learner, I need to see detailed video(s) on how you did your parting method and make the parting tool with Microsoft Word. Hopefully, you'll be able to do so. Thank you.
I did my hair in 2015 and i wish i had your video to watch the parting because i ended up cutting my hair to start over in November last year because i didn't like my part sizing. I can't wait until its long enough to start again. Your hair looks great so far.
Wow! Your patience is on 💯 Your hair is thick and beautiful and LONG! When you have shrinkage it won’t even look like shrinkage 💖 All the best on your journey 🙏🏾 How many locs do you have?
Wow! I love how precise you got all the math for the parting system. Just subscribed. Can't wait to see your results and progress as your locs mature!! I've been looking for more videos of ladies who have started locs on 18" or longer hair like I plan to in March when my Sisterlocks are established. Also documenting my journey on YT 😊
I just love how you explained everything. You’re locs are gonna turn out great!! So just for clarification: for everyone of your 40 something sections, you split that section of hair in half, the and then you split the section in half again and that row becomes 4 locs? Just want to make sure I got it right ??
Hi Queen, My name is D’Anecia. I love that your locking your hair!! I chose this year to be my year and I to would want interlocks. I felt that I can do then but I never really saw a video that explained how there created. I knew it was more to it. I would love if you can chat with me about creating my grid so I can start my journey. I feel I can do this. Also how you created the tool to keep track of the size as you go. These videos are very helpful just would like a little more information.
Hi DAnecia! Honestly the grid almost got me 😅 I did my mini braid grid twice before feeling comfortable and I took 1 full day to create my final mini braid grid for my install. I’m going to make a video on it soon. For the sizing tool, I made that using word and I’m gonna make a vid on that too soon!
When we say we want a tutorial this is what we mean! All of my questions were answered. Ive never seen a more thorough tutorial for starting locs with the interlocs method.
I love how you've done all the maths and numbers regarding your hair, I can tell your channel will be amazing 🤩
Thank you! That’s very kind of you to say. I’ll be sharing a more detailed vid on the grid soon hopefully
Yes! You broke that down SO well (great graphics and all). 👍🏽 And to do your own hair IN THE BACK of your head with THAT much hair density... I am impressed! What a (worthwhile) PROCESS. 👏🏽👏🏽

Sis learned how to do sister locks by herself basically. I’ve been wanting sister locs for so long, but it’s so darn expensive!
exactly!
Talksense so what?
Its terriable how expensive they are are. I'm somimptessed when someone does their own hair.
Lol idk If Im THAT patient lol 😂 but thank you! I did save myself a pretty penny and I hope I can help others do the same 💕
What sis you measured your head 🤣🤣 and you knew the square inches 🤣🤣 omg you are so dope having them down to a science.
Soo dope
I’m a huge data nerd so I’m super impressed with the level of detail you’re approaching this style with. 🤓 Subscribed so I can see the end result!
And thanks UA-cam algorithm for recommending this video to me. Clearly it knows how badly I’ve wanted locs but I’ve been procrastinating for no good reason 😅
Some think that if they cant afford sisterlocks they cant get similar looking locks.... WRONG. Yours look spectacular.
Wow I’m so interested in seeing your journey. You’ve broken this down to a science.
I'm two weeks out of locs, after about 25 years. Going back in with sister locs. Thank you for this.
Very technical. I appreciate how quick you jump to the points unlike most vids.
Thank you! My goal is to have hem be as succinct as possible
I just know your presentations at conferences are lit
Your patience and dedication is off the roof!!!!! I could never! They look good too!
I love how you explain so clearly and the thought and research you put into your journey! Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!
Omgggggg....you have detailed this perfectly. No unnecessary information...you even included math! Looooooove this!
Yes!! Pls do an in-depth video on parting your hair 🙏🏾
You have this down to a science. Literally! Congratulations and good luck👍🏽
Thank you! 😊

I promise that video is coming. Just gotta finish my install and do some things for grad school! So excited to share my grid plan with you!
Virtuenow I am with you. I need this ASAP.

Skills !!
You are making me feel inspired to do mine after I finish this academic semester
😊that’s one of the nicest things I’ve ever heard. Just trying to spread the loc knowledge/freedom. 🙏🙏
Love love how much detail and thought you put into your locs. I would love it if you would make a more in depth video on parting and sizing! 💜🍄
Ive been locked for one year. Best decision ever❤️❤️ love your video. I wish i had this a year ago!! But i have made it through. Yours look amazing.
Thank you for this! I wanted to do sisterlocs but there arent specialist in my country so I wanted to do them myself. Thank you again!
Let's call them QueenEleem Locs😉
I am so impressed with your hard work and determination. You have really helped me and i now got motivation to do this myself.
I am a DIY fan and this wow. This is gold to me. Its all about saving those $$$
This is exactly what I have been looking for!!! Thank you so much... moving on to the next video
Looks amazing so far! Your level of detail is extraordinary 🤯 Can't wait to see and learn more!
Doing my sista locks now and when I get tired and want to just twist, I keep watching your videos for inspiration!!
Woot woot you got this!!
This is going to be so cuteee once finished! You truly have patience i dont think i could do hair for that long😭

Awesome, beautiful, encouraging, empowering. Thanks so much for your series 😍
Im so glad that you feel empowered ❤️ that’s my goal
I have watched many videos of self-install sisterloc/microlocs and you are the first one that said something about a three way mirror. THAT was one of the most vital facts you spoke about besides the grid and loc sizes/measurements. Your locks are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Yes the 3 way mirror is VITAL 😭
Your parts are amazing! I am two weeks into my loc journey :)
Okay, you have inspired me! I will be doing my own microlocs!
Very interesting... You really did your research.... Good luck on your journey
You did it! So glad you've started a channel. Great job👍
Aww thank you!! And thank you for inspiring!
@@QueenEleem You're welcome, I will share your video on my community tab.
That’d be amazing! Thank you so much 😊😊
@@QueenEleem My pleasure 🙏 I am sure my subscribers will love your videos.
This is an amazing video. Your work is beautiful!
Best DIY video I done seen on UA-cam thanks for the video you are doing a great job on your hair.
Yes more or less, some of the back side sections that’s not what I did but for my front sections and the center back sections that is what I did
Phenomenal job! U got the DIY spirit I have and I feel I can do this too!
Hi Queen,
My name is D’Anecia.
If you need more detail dm me on my insta 🙂
QueenEleem
Awesome! Can’t wait for the Grid vid 😊
Wow! Love this. I started with braids over a year ago. Wish I knew all this info before I might have done it differently. Your hair is beautiful ❤️
Sis, you are a mathematician with that parting! Thanks for the detailed display as well.
You’re welcome 😊
Do you have more vids on the 4 point method? I'm going to loc my hair and I've tried this method before, but struggle with getting the pattern correct
This is fascinating 🙌🏾
