All good points, many I have adopted. Ultimately, the thing that made the greatest difference for me was CONDITIONING. My first 1 or 2 years of long distance hikes were agonizing and torturous during descents. It took me about 3 years to condition my knees to extended descents.
Went to kuari pass with IndiaHikes. Fortunately all these tips were given by our trek leader, Yash Choudhary. Descent was ez pz. :)
This is great! Very helpful tips, particularly liked the one about not slowing down while descending. Makes sense!
Great tips, thank you! I wish I had watched this earlier, I really could have used this on today's hike!

Can you please make a video of right kind of trekking shoes?
Probably not wearing socks might help for toes hitting inside of shoes during descend..i tried it once for Sahyadri trek.. Seemed to help.. Because wet socks keep the feet always wet
Good one...
Can u pls share techniks to walk properly on wet rocky surfaces (monsoon)...

Mera pair slip ho raha hai kya karu ki slope per mera pair slip na ho is liye
Good tips,a shoes should like the one showd in the video I had shorts shoes and 18 km it was descending it hurts my foot fingers.. If hv long shoes and tite lesses. It will grip you foot and ur feet will not slip in shoes
For me, point number 1 is the hardest. I have been stiff since childhood. Any tips for me to loosen up?
Hi Jennifer, I guess your only way out is to consciously make your knees loose while climbing downhill. If you do this for an hour or so, you'll automatically keep your knees loose after that. Another thing to do is take a trekking pole. use two if needed. These will give you that extra confidence to let your knees loose.
Hmm.. sounds easy in principle! :) Years of behavior and thoughts need to be broken.

will power of an individual counts a lot
suggest a good trekking shoe for me plz
Just curious.. can you give link to any source that says using trekking pole reduces energy consumption by 40%. I find it easier and less tiring when hiking without it
No, because the number is relatively made up, however, she is completely right. When using them correctly, they reduce the strain on your body dramatically. My guess is, that you don't have good technique with poles, so that's why you don't find them useful.
reduce background noice n upload again
