Nice shooting. If I want to shoot 15 to 20 metres I have to shoot past the greenhouse. I won't hit it but a rebound might, and they can come all the way back to the shooting position. Gamo seem to specialise in lightweight pellets. The ballistic coefficient, hence the impact force, rises with pellet mass and velocity, and is a function of shape. The BC is almost impossible to calculate except by measuring velocity at muzzle and at target, but it is not linear with velocity. A lot of the american BC data has been obtained at much higher velocity than is useful to us. The Gamo Match Classic is a flat wadcutter of identical mas to the Pro Magnum and similar smooth skirt shape, 0.49g 7.56gr (I still cannot think in grains). It is probably not as aerodynamic but kills paper targets nicely at short range. I've found my CP2 prefers a heavier pellet than 0.51g (Webley Accupell). A flat head may be better at killing small vermin than a pointed hunting pellet which may well pass clean through. At very close range to dispatch even a flat head may shoot through. My personal description of the Gamo Match Classic was, "meh". My liking for the Webley VMX Pell 0.53g is that they are relatively cheap, VMX is their budget line. They are a raised flat head coming to a slight point, unlike the Accupell FT 0.56g which are a full spherical dome, and similar smooth skirt as the Gamo. Best so far for targets and plinking, RWS R10 Match 0.53g, 2nd best Webley Accupell-FT 0.56g, 3rd Webley VMX Pell 0.53g. I have pistol target set at 5, 7, and 10 metres, all of them will shoot through a tin can at those distances. On one merikan nuclear test the cousins managed to blow up all their pressure sensors and recording gear. Our chap assessed the damage to some oil drums and calculated how big a bang they'd had. Maybe Bill had misspent his youth playing with an airgun. The olde tin can test is a pretty good indicator of impact force.
I also like the tin can test but don't have many lying around. I do have a lot of bottle tops for accuracy testing though. I will try out some of those gamo match, might be better for ratting
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner I've found the lighter pellets whiffle off sideways, but that's by air gun and you're getting a higher velocity from yours. I'd put all the weights through the chrono and plot a graph. The physics says half M V-squared should be a straight line fit but you will find a bulge above the predicted line for the most efficient pellets. Easy to do in Excel. My fly-weight and monster pellets drop below the line. I though optimum would be 0.6g but they proved poor (RWS Supermag flats). Best on mine seem to be 0.53g or 0.56g. RWS R10 Match are 0.53g Bisley Magnum (H&N) are a raised flat pointy of 0.687g, hit with a hell of a clout (higher BC) but not accurate out of the pistol - I've not tried them in the rifle. The rifle barrel is still bedding in and producing higher than spec over 600fps, around 7 ft lb. Still low even for a UK spec air rifle but you've seen the grouping. I need to get the long barrel leaded-up, cleaned and de-burred, and then re-test the heavier pellets for efficiency. But I don't want to soup-up the airgun as I've got it nice for pistol. The rifling on the short barrel was burred. Need to slick up the long barrel before doing tests. This is England, winter is coming. Next trick, try a small lens dew heater around the valve and capsule, they get hand warm not hot. Velcro band to a pocket hand warmer usb battery pack.
@Alex Lexon panonia shooter nice to hear from you all the way from Serbia, also glad you tried out some of the mods and are happy. Which mods did you try if I may ask?
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner drilling to 3.8 mm, now I have only about 25 shots but that's ok to me. My first tuning was reversible option, stretching the spring to 9 cm and I also changed the little one on the front but it wasn't good enough so I decided to drill and the little Artemis CP2 is a beast now.
@Alex Lexon panonian shooter yes with the mods you will definitely loose on shot count because you are using more gas to propell the pellet but should enjoy a considerably more fps. Have you got a chronograph that you could check the fps. I like your description of a little beast now😁
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner I don't have a chronograph but I'm using the chrono connect app just as you. I have a plan to make a few video's so you can watch them, until that I'm waiting for new video's from you, maybe some pest control video with Artemis😉
Tyrone, I just bought a chaser, and I'm heading down the modification tunnel! Your videos have been helpful. I would love to see an updated recap of all your power mods with the final fps with various weights of pellets. Do you have an email / paypal account? I'd be happy to toss a few rands in your hat! You have saved me a ton of time! These Pro Magnum pellets are hard to find here (USA), but I did locate some and ordered them. I hope they run as well in my gun.
@David S. Glad the videos have been helpful and the chaser was a great buy and likes most pellets. A recap of the mods is below, just about all my testing was done using BSA Blue star 8.02gr pellets. 1. 4mm spacer in hammer 615 to 665 fps 2. Added another 4mm spacer and stretched spring to 90mm - 665 to 740 fps. 3. Drilled out valve, port, breech and barrel from 3.5mm to 3.8mm 740 to 800 fps. Please note that this fps should be used as an approximate figure as the reading come from an app that I have used and proved to be quite accurate. I have an appointment at the end of November with a chronograph but I am pretty sure it won't differ much. Below is my PayPal account www.paypal.me/Tyrone8511
Hi Rusty, if I remember correctly the gamo delta fox is a 500-600fps springer(gas ram). You can definitely hunt with it but a few things you will need to do first. 1. Find the pellet that your barrel likes, I would recommend starting with JSB 2. Practice, practice, practice, it is a springer so you will need more practice, only hunt at ranges that you can consistently get less than 3/4" groups. 3. Start off close and work your way out. For a scope, I would go the best Hawke you can afford. On a springer, a BSA or Nikko Sterling will also work but I would say Hawke is the safe bet
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner thank you very much, im very new to pellet guns and bought mine for 200 euros and at the moment trying to get a budget scope to train more
For a budget scope, try look for a bsa 4x32 AO that should last a while. The AO means Adjustable Objective they are usually built a little better than the plain 4x32 scopes. 3x9 32 is also fine
Tyrone, I've found as well that that style of pellet is more accurate than the pointy tip pellets. I have the same pellets and the crosman destroyers are the most accurate in mine.but the gamos are no slouch either.
@@African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner yeah they are my favorite. 177 pellet and I get them for less than $4.00 tin at WM.
