We are in a rural area and most of us are retired living on fixed incomes but we know God dwells in our hearts and our church, and we know he will provide. To all small churches leaving . You are right that we Baptists have dropped accountability that the Gospel calls for. We need to move away from the American theology of individualism that allows sinful behaviors go unchallenged. However, the reason for the split is that the Methodists are not holding themselves accountable. The Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin, but the progressive Methodist say otherwise. The Book of Discipline bans practicing homosexuals in leadership, but the domination violates this by ordaining openly practicing homosexual pastors and bishops. The denomination power structures are using financial strangleholds to keep churches under their power to support the progressive movement.

The progressive UMC wants these smaller, mostly conservative, churches to close so they can be sold.
