So, from interviews I've read, this song was supposed to be a commentary on hollywood and social trends in general. The kid is supposed to be an alien, and the video shows that even when an alien lands on Earth, Hollywood did what Hollywood does and made the alien into an icon by surrounding him in fame, women, money, and toxic behaviors. The end shows that the alien is just drained from everything, tired of the lights and fame that it never asked for, barely able to move. in short, Hollywood lifestyle is toxic and it crosses any lines to make money, even exploiting an alien.
But I like your interpretation, on how you must accept yourself in no matter what light if you want to succeed, its a good lesson to learn
I’ve loved SOAD since I was a kid. So melodic and crazy/ intense. So many messages in their music to literally talk about world and life issues. Also their videos during the early 2000’s were freaking awesome cinematography...

I recommend Suite-Pee by SOAD. It's about criticizing religion and people's willingness to accept almost anything as fact. The lyrics are about a fad religion that everyone bought into despite the fact that it was fishy af.
This is a hard acquired taste specially from the soad selection... I use to skip it everytime on pandora... it is now my alarm clock
