Love the "I have things from here and there" feel of the kit, it gives it a little more personality than what one would find in a kit including all the different parts
Don't worry about having two bass drums but a double pass pedal, most pro drummers use the same trick in a live setting to avoid having to tune two bass drums perfectly.
Ive never seen a metal drummer with a fake second bass drum. And most metal drummers dont tune the kicks the same anyways. Quads and double bass runs sound better with the kicks slightly different
Yeah, I relate. I’m working with a 7 piece set, 5 cymbals, want to add a cowbell, maybe add 5 rotos and a 10” snare to it as well and make it a 13 piece
One thing I'd recommend is a snare head. All stock snare heads are pretty bad and the coating gets scraped off pretty bad after a couple months of playing. The snare head I use right now is a 14" Remo Falams II Batter for the top, and a Remo Falams II Snare Side for the bottom. These are marching heads and are pretty expenisve, so maybe consider a Remo Emperor for the top and a Remo Ambassador for the bottom. If you're an Evans guy then maybe consider getting an Evans G2 for the top and an Evans G1 on the bottom.
In some cases you have the option to reassemble a double kick into two single kicks if you can remove the beater from the bar on your right and slide it onto the one on the left pedal. The purpose of having two base drums is to tune one slightly higher or lower then the other to facilitate an accent.
I get ya with the new heads, I have one up 2 down snare an bass an that will cost a fair bit, never mind all the rest you have, get the lottery on haha nice kit though mate an nice that your keeping your Grandads stuff still rocking
new sub here bro, oldschool 80's drummer here , i am not on social media though but would love to talk drums more with you , thanks and keep em coming , talk soon > tom !
You’ve got a nice set! It’s very on a budget and I respect it. I on the other hand blew $6,000 on a drum set you can see on my channel 😅 It’s more for generic rock and worship rather than specific like metal.
At some point pick up a single bass drum pedal and you can use it on the left kick tuned a little differently than the right with the double pedal on it. Lots of pedals, but a bigger sound pallet.
It's good yea but fix your tom angles they're slightly infuriating that would be more comfortable for you to play on and make sure you get pretty good heads too and obviously tune your kit with new heads
You're LEFT HAAAAAANDEEEEEEEED OOOOOOOOOOH Can ya try playing wasted years by iron maiden? (Sorry if you don't play songs or you already did it, this is the first time i see you and already subbed)
You got me laughing with the snare sounding like a trash can because st anger is a thing.
Even the toms 💀
@@snipurryt4955that’s why I’m a Remo guy 💀
Guys, guys, guys, **something** tells me that he’s a metal drummer
Why such a bold statement?
@@bartallen6849 i'm a daring kinda guy, what can i say
if he can stomach the terrible snare sound from Metallica's st. anger album, hes a metal drummer.
Idk man. Can’t just jump to conclusions with statements like that!
@@gameslayer3586 idk man. have you heard how shit st.anger is.

I read "Tour of my MUSTARD Drum set." I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit disappointed.
Its so mixed up and randomly put together. I love it
Don't worry about having two bass drums but a double pass pedal, most pro drummers use the same trick in a live setting to avoid having to tune two bass drums perfectly.
I did it for years. Why not, even if its just to look rad

Danny Carey uses both bass drums
@@docksidemarine4273 Ray Luzier from Korn does it, Charlie Benante from Anthrax, Joey jordison also did it.
@@casanovafrankenstein8538 True, but he also uses two different sizes, a 22 inch and a 24 inch bass.
As a drummer with a fairly big drum set I can relate to this

I like how the extra kick drum is just a tom holder lol

All good quality snares come with good quality heads. Most are either USA Remo or Evans
@@Cowboynudes the coating on this particular snare is coming apart so I think it’s a good investment right about now.
The heads from DW do a good job.
The snare has a wear texture which is the explanation of the comment
the cowbell plays a b flat, very nice
Love the kit man! I like how you mangaed to make toms with identical sizes sound so different, that was awesome 🤜🤛
This is, heavily underrated.

You've inspired me to do my own version of this, tomorrow because I'm lazy
do some people prefer lots of cheap cymbals instead of a few nice cymbals?
Yeah these cymbals are absolutely awful

Amazing drum set
as a cellist with no drumset i agree

The zbts killed me lololol I'm madly anger with youuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaa
The heads are not bad! I use the Evan’s hydraulic. It kinda gets annoying in my opinion to have tape on the drum heads, so I have oil heads.
Nice set up my man! What kind of music did your late grandfather liked and listened to or played? Thanks for sharing your video. 😎
I think is was a classic rock guy
Change batters to powerstroke p4 coated, and resos to ambassador clears, you will love your tom sound
I want that drumset on my wish list

any chance of selling that ahead tenor pad??
I'm just laughing so hard. 😂😂

the grand tour
Do you gig with the whole thing? It's a beast but it's beautiful 😂
No. Only like half.
How on earth are u supposed to hit that hi hat without hitting the tambourine??🤣
Easier than it looks, but since this video I moved the tambourine to the right high hat.
bro that drum set is way bigger then mine!

This is incredibly awesome
this kit is… some kind of monster
Hey great kit & cool setup!
thanks ethan
cute litte drumset
Nice drumkit!
Subbing for that!
how can you hit you left hi hat?
Nice kit 🔥🔥🔥
Baby kit compared to mine..nice kit though..keep drumming
my guy will have all this shit and only use about 4 toms, 3 cymbals, the snare and the hihats
Don’t forget the kicks!
@@ethanthemetalman i do the same shit i cant even rip the piss this lad
This kit makes me want to buy you heads. And tune them. And let you borrow my cymbals.

The second ten inch, the first 12 inch, and the first 16 inch all have the same Evan’s heads. I’m not sure which ones they are.
Is this a joke I can't tell 😭
What makes you think this is a joke?
@@ethanthemetalman the goofy tuning of the drums, the bass drum just to hold the toms, the stack cymbal, the massive tambourine over the hihats

Unless I scrolled by it I didn't see a shot of the whole set at once. When you hit your "crash" cymbals they actually sounded like ride cymbals.
