For those who watch my Garbage Time car channel, this is the thing I drove 16 hours for and killed original Bruce the ute last year. Adelaide to Melbourne to Adelaide again in one shot, Bruce did it perfect. Next day, Bruce didn't want to play anymore. That huge canopy back transported this kit perfectly as it came with it's original drum bags too! But RIP to Bruce, thanks for helping save this kit 👍 (yes I did drive to Bendigo last week for another kit in Bruce 2, video coming whenever.)
Now all you need to do is strap them to a steel rotating platform and replace the throne with a racing car seat and harness and do a 360 solo upside down
As a piano tuner and tech I can tell you that's actually legitimately how the piano was developed lmao The first piano was like 4 or 5 octaves in the late 17th century and they just kept getting bigger, but there were fluctuations in size over time due to a variety of factors, but it took about 180 years for it to hit the modern sizes
I guess that kinda did happen in the 80s when synths and MIDI exploded. The 80s said, "what if a piano sounded like lasers, and had a whammy bar?" And then dropped off heavily again the next decade.
@@oldgoat381 Yeah, the layout of the modern piano seems like the only obvious way it could be (given the conventions of modern western music anyway), but they only settled on it after trying every other piano shaped thing they could think of.

The importance of Pearl hardware from that era can't be overstated. Prior to then, drum hardware was mostly chintzy or ridiculous expensive. Was never a fan of their drums, but their hardware changed the game.
I'm in Sydney Australia and my first serious kit I bought in 1994, it was a German made Sonor Force 3000, 5 piece kit with excellent hardware. I added Zildjian K series hats, 16'' & 18'' crash, 18'' China & 20'' ride. That year, after tax my weekly take home pay was $360. The Sonor kit was just over $4000 and would you believe the Zildjian K's came to a total of $2300. Add in a set of cases and suddenly it's $7000. I could have bought a USA Fender Stratocaster and a Marshall JCM 900 with a cabinet, and gone on a holiday with the change.

As someone not too familiar with drums outside this channel, I was looking at the drum kit at first and was like "yeah, I guess that is bigger than a standard kit". It wasn't until the overhead shot of you playing it when I realized "okay, yep, that's that 80's excess"
Absolutely beautiful. My eyes watered to behold. I'm so happy that this drum set ended up in your hands. You have immortalized his soul through preserving music.
You’re a true Robin Hood. Taking from the blockchain and giving to poor drum nerds everywhere! Thank you! This crypto windfall couldn’t have happened to a better person! Much love from Canada! ❤️ 🇨🇦
Those drums literally could not have gone to a better home! Everything I know about drums is from you, and your excitement keeps me sticking around. I can't wait for you to get your museum up and running fully! Good on you mate!
matey you must be a wizard because despite my previous lack of drums, cars, ipods, whatevers interest you genuinely somehow made me sitting on the edge of my seat checking my notifications every 5 minutes for a new one of ya videos. i dont get it, i dont even play the drums, but i absolutely adore this as one of my favourite channels ive ever found ever? from one aussie to another: ONYA MATE 👍
The preview for the drum museum, your passion for the authenticity of the kit, your knowledge and passion of drum history - THIS is why I'm subbed to the channel. I learned piano yonks ago but always had a passing interest for drums, this channel helps me live out the fantasy of picking up the drums as a young'un and going full force into it. Maybe one day when I'm out of small, cheap rentals I'll finally get myself a kit and live out my dreams. Love your work!
That’s an incredible gift to music producers everywhere if you’re going to record them. I’d absolutely keel over with joy if you worked through playing differ break beats on them, You could build out such a special library of rhythms, grooves, fills, and hits ok so much well recorded vintage gear with your set up. That would be an immense gift to music to release for free
This may be the absolute best video youve posted on any channel. This is incredible. The building, the drums, all of it. I'm so happy your investing your money into unique preservations. It's awesome
This has to be one of my favourite channels on the site right now. Not only did you *introduce* me to a passion I've always wanted to get into for years, but you've also taught me everything I know; even the basic rock beat from your first video. Thank you, seriously, for making these videos.
This man has consistently been growing as a creator and seeing his progression from way back has really just proven to me as a musician, I really can make it if I work hard. We love u wade
Man your passion for all of your projects is so inspiring! I also wanna thank you in advance for the drum recordings! As an amateur producer, free drum samples is like the best thing ever. I appreciate you tons Wade, I always enjoy your content. Keep it up buddy!
i always knew staying up until 5:17 in the morning would pay off! oh buddy the 80s, the funniest years for drums. they just got so huge for a hot minute there
I’ve never really been into drums or cars but watching all your videos of you going into all these things with such passion is amazing! Seeing people who have these hobbies show off cool things and explain the history behind them is without a doubt my favorite thing and UA-cam Is full of those! Please keep it up can’t wait to see where all of this goes!
After drumming for four years on and off your channel has seriously reignited my passion for drums... Picked up a gretsch catalina club maple kit off an old teacher for $500 a week ago. Best purchase ever. Please keep making videos. As many as possible. Much love from Arkansas USA.
I miss those big drum sets...I can actually use a lot of those, my style is based around using the drum kit as an ensemble even while playing in a band, so I like having loads of toms and cymbals and the like. Electronics, too, right alongside the acoustics. It's often painted as being ostentatious, but I love it! I love that versatility!
Seeing a clearly well loved piece of equipment moving to a new owner who very obviously loves and cares for it is fantastic. Whether it be drums, tools, or anything else that's just a thing that makes me smile. The drums clearly have a good home there and were special to the previous owner.
you've gotta be one of the best people to get a set like that in your care. thank god you got it. hope you continue to treat it with the love and care it deserved, and has been getting.
Everything about this is "chef's kiss" impeccable, right down to the Uni-Lock stands. Gotta get yerself a Sonor Signature next for even greater '80s excess!
It makes me happy that this man had an absolute passion about building drums, that shebwas taking care of them in hopes of finding someone who would treat them with the utmost care and respect. And she gave them to you, the guy who throws cymbols during his streams, im fucking dying xD
My dad used to be in a cover band when I was young, from the late 80’s into the early 90’s and his set were huge chonkers like that. Never been musically inclined myself but everything involved is fascinating to me.
This is so awesome! I seriously only started watching your Dank Pods channel a couple years ago and to see your passion turn into several channels and a museum is just so cool. I've not really known much about drums but it's been excellent learning more about them and appreciating the subtle nuances that each cymbal, tom and snare bring... even the terrible ones. 😂 Really pleased for you, man.
I have no words to describe the amount of respect I have for you as a creator and a person. Spending all your free time and large amount of money just to do what you're passionate about and give access to niche items to everyone. We truly do not deserve to have you, you are a wonderful human being and I wish you every bit of success and joy.
lately i've been rewatching some of your older stuff that's been made like an "undisclosed series", if you may call it that, stuff like the doneky van videos, niki repairs, failures and more repairs and even the old ipod x000GB videos, and one thing i really love about those is just watching them front to back and seeing the evolution, or growth that happens to these channels, your content and you, and with that i'm super exited to see this museum of yours slowly taking shape and i can't wait to see more
this is so cool!! I love hearing people be super passionate about their practice! I know next to nothing about drums or jazz, but as an artist who’s also nuts about the history of their crafts and tools I love this channel. your enthousiasme makes it interesting.
Already hugely impressed by the room and I can't wait to see it stacked. I'm so happy that someone like you has been so lucky and that you're letting us be part of all of your ambitions
Man I love it when you talk about music theory and music history, you just make it sound fun. I would love to see you explore the different decades and styles of music and explain how drums where for them and what made the sound special.
Found this video in my recommended and just gotta say I love how excited you are about drums! I’m a drummer too so I appreciate your enthusiasm man ❤that beauty plays like a dream too btw
I’ve been a drummer my whole life and my biggest influences were 80s metal drummers. That is such a beautiful kit and I’ve always wanted one like that. You’re so lucky
Hearing you play that thing at the end was so much fun! I hope you put out something soon of you just playing that thing (maybe a drum stream even?) cos I'd love to hear more of it!
Dude - I’m in an airport at 2am right now and the JOY this video brings me is unreal! Not only is that kit a beast, the idea that you’re creating an open source drum sounds library, totally free, is incredible! Thank you man, you’re one hell of a good guy! 👏👏👏
I had a Pearl GLX finished in piano black back in the 80's. Super gripper lugs. It was finished as good inside as out. Really load. Best kit I had .Wish I'd kept it.
What makes me love this channel even without being a huge drum fan myself is the passion and love you have for all your interests. This drum museum is going to be amazing, and is one of the best uses of crypto fortunes that I've seen. Keep up the amazing work on all your channels!
daymnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to dream about a set of GLX... I had a DX kit, which I loved. Freaking loudest kit I've ever owned. I miss the kits from the 80's. The sheer volume, attack, and just massive sounds they make. Plus they looked cool. Kit's today look so dainty compared to it. Congrats on the score!
Holy crap I would pay lost of money to come visit this. This is something my dad would have absolutely froth'd over if he were still here, loved his vintage 80s kit, and loved the history of drums. This is amazing and also as a music producer I am thoroughly looking forward to the website and samples.
I honestly love how well Mr Dank is doing. He has so much passion for what he does and the fact that he has been able to gain such a following from just making old iPods and MP3 players funny is great. Best thing is, he recognises the support he gets. More people should be like Mr Dank. Keep going man ✌🏼

I can already tell this is gonna be a banger
Those drums literally could not have gone to a better home! Everything I know about drums is from you, and your excitement keeps me sticking around. I can't wait for you to get your museum up and running fully! Good on you mate!
Based on your description I'm fairly confident the original owner of this set would be so happy you now have it!
matey you must be a wizard because despite my previous lack of drums, cars, ipods, whatevers interest you genuinely somehow made me sitting on the edge of my seat checking my notifications every 5 minutes for a new one of ya videos. i dont get it, i dont even play the drums, but i absolutely adore this as one of my favourite channels ive ever found ever?
from one aussie to another: ONYA MATE 👍
🙌🙌🙌
The preview for the drum museum, your passion for the authenticity of the kit, your knowledge and passion of drum history - THIS is why I'm subbed to the channel. I learned piano yonks ago but always had a passing interest for drums, this channel helps me live out the fantasy of picking up the drums as a young'un and going full force into it. Maybe one day when I'm out of small, cheap rentals I'll finally get myself a kit and live out my dreams. Love your work!
That’s an incredible gift to music producers everywhere if you’re going to record them.
I’d absolutely keel over with joy if you worked through playing differ break beats on them,
You could build out such a special library of rhythms, grooves, fills, and hits ok so much well recorded vintage gear with your set up.
Absolutely loved this from start to finish - your passion is infectious, and I had a massive smile on my face when you finally let loose on the kit :)
Listening and watching you play those drums really satisfied my soul. Love you Frank’s dad.
The overhead shot absolutely solidified how big of a set this is. This is ridiculous and I love it.
Man, that set is beautiful! Props to Helen for protecting it, and Bruce for his sacrifice. It was worth it.
Man your passion for all of your projects is so inspiring! I also wanna thank you in advance for the drum recordings! As an amateur producer, free drum samples is like the best thing ever. I appreciate you tons Wade, I always enjoy your content. Keep it up buddy!
Jesus, I got chills at the end to that MASTERPIECE of a routine. Had to rewind and turn up the volume. Ah so beautiful.
i always knew staying up until 5:17 in the morning would pay off!
oh buddy the 80s, the funniest years for drums. they just got so huge for a hot minute there
Sorry for your loss Helen, thanks for letting someone else take care of his drums.
Damn not only is he charismatic and talented, he’s LOADED with CASH?!
Seeing a clearly well loved piece of equipment moving to a new owner who very obviously loves and cares for it is fantastic. Whether it be drums, tools, or anything else that's just a thing that makes me smile. The drums clearly have a good home there and were special to the previous owner.
you've gotta be one of the best people to get a set like that in your care. thank god you got it. hope you continue to treat it with the love and care it deserved, and has been getting.
l bet he has tim tams in the kitchen
first, that is a beautiful kit.
second, its amazing how quickly you could change styles while playing
Everything about this is "chef's kiss" impeccable, right down to the Uni-Lock stands. Gotta get yerself a Sonor Signature next for even greater '80s excess!
Your excitement is contagious! It's so fun watching people get excited about things they enjoy.
Really pleased for you, man.
I'm so happy for you mate. Seeing someone fulfill a dream is very gratifying and it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. Cheers!
I have no words to describe the amount of respect I have for you as a creator and a person. Spending all your free time and large amount of money just to do what you're passionate about and give access to niche items to everyone. We truly do not deserve to have you, you are a wonderful human being and I wish you every bit of success and joy.
Absolutely incredible looking kit Holy wow
As a drummer I’ve been loving this channel. I think it would be really interesting to see you do a vid about the history of signature snare drums.
lately i've been rewatching some of your older stuff that's been made like an "undisclosed series", if you may call it that, stuff like the doneky van videos, niki repairs, failures and more repairs and even the old ipod x000GB videos, and one thing i really love about those is just watching them front to back and seeing the evolution, or growth that happens to these channels, your content and you, and with that i'm super exited to see this museum of yours slowly taking shape and i can't wait to see more
Hi
this is so cool!! I love hearing people be super passionate about their practice! I know next to nothing about drums or jazz, but as an artist who’s also nuts about the history of their crafts and tools I love this channel.
your enthousiasme makes it interesting.
I got an 80s tama swingstar kit, now looking for some vintage cymbals to go with 😂 the toms are SO deep. I love them. Love this vid, what a great kit!
Like many others, I keep coming back because of how passionate you are about drums. Love the content and see you on stream!
The copper shell pearl drum is a so called free floating snare. Back then I had one too, plus a brass shell. Both great. Loved them!
This was a really great video. You have so much passion that I simply cannot stop watching. You really are an incredible creator.
Already hugely impressed by the room and I can't wait to see it stacked. I'm so happy that someone like you has been so lucky and that you're letting us be part of all of your ambitions
Immediately turning a huge windfall into a passion creative project is my favourite thing ever. Thank you Wade.
Man I love it when you talk about music theory and music history, you just make it sound fun. I would love to see you explore the different decades and styles of music and explain how drums where for them and what made the sound special.
Excellent👍We're so glad to see that this vintage kit is in good hands!
i love how enthusiastic you are about drums
Your dedication to making things period correct is very admirable. I do the same with synths, drum machines, and such.
Found this video in my recommended and just gotta say I love how excited you are about drums! I’m a drummer too so I appreciate your enthusiasm man ❤that beauty plays like a dream too btw
Sir. I love you for being you and doing what you love. A huge inspiration to people.
.....what a beauty!! congrats, mate! This is really special
I'd love just like an hour long of grooves on this thing. Kickass stuff dude, super excited to see what you got going on next! 👍
This is awesome. I have an 80s Tama set that is pretty ridiculous and I love it just for that. Enjoyed watching you geek out over this score.
I am a stickler for vintage drums and period correct hardware.
As a Pearl fan I am jealous - that is a beautiful kit.
I had a Pearl GLX finished in piano black back in the 80's. Super gripper lugs. It was finished as good inside as out. Really load. Best kit I had .Wish I'd kept it.
I'm so glad I found your channels, what you're doing is so incredibly cool
This is amazing and also as a music producer I am thoroughly looking forward to the website and samples.
props to you for preserving history and making accessible to all, you’re not just a drum historian you’re a drum archivist
Apparently having fun is your new work. Keep up the good work.
I honestly love how well Mr Dank is doing. He has so much passion for what he does and the fact that he has been able to gain such a following from just making old iPods and MP3 players funny is great. Best thing is, he recognises the support he gets. More people should be like Mr Dank. Keep going man ✌🏼
It's so cool you're allowing the use of your vintage drum sounds for free, I'll definitely take a look at those when you get the website up
This video makes me both so sad and so happy. I'm happy you're treasuring this drumset as much as the original owner. ♥
Yup had a 8 piece GLX Kit. Cost a ton brand new in NZ. Sold it in Australia few years later. Had full set of Rudes plus 2x Zilgen China’s. Had a Tama AW46 Superstar Snare, Ludwig unknown origin turned into a timbale. Set of Octobans.
