Agreed. I still have my Dreamcast for the very same reason. Shenmue is even more than a gaming experience. It is a life experience that I will never forget. Everyone should have played this epic game; feel sorry for the people that haven't. I still love the way the bread guy talks "Hello Ryo, what...can...I....getcha?" Mark cracks me up too. The most mesmerizing game I have ever played so far. Nothing has topped it. Only other game that gave me "sort of" that feeling was Mirror's Edge.

I spent days upon days, Endless nights in the world of shenmue. This is probably my favorite game of all time.The connection i had to the main characters,world and music was very real and hasn't been felt in any other game. I also remember playing this one level over and over that i actually started some kind of glitch ... I was able to walk through walls and see the outsides of levels... what i liked is how the brought other sega games into this game like in those lil machines ther where nights into dreams figures and others and super hangon in the arcade machine, oh and a tip if u didnt know if you go into the lounge in ryo's house u can open tv cabinet and theres a sega saturn there :)
everything about this game from playabilty to soundtrack was amazing for its time and still is ! alot of people who play games have never played this game and dont understand it !
Not just an epic game; but a must play human experience. This game will stay with you for many years. It is a shame that Yu Suzuki has stepped down. I have beaten most of the current great ones: Resident Evil 5, Resistance 1 and 2, Gears of War 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Bioshock, Silent Hill Homecoming, Yakuza, Resident Evil 4 and others. But no game gives you the feel that Shenmue does.
Shenmue was like a breath of fresh air. It had substance, unlike the vast majority of games today that are filled with nothing but blood, gore, guns, unoriginal gameplay and half-naked women with breast bigger than a human child. The video game industry needs more titles like Shenmue. Rather than release another lame Sonic game, Sega needs to give the Shenmue franchise another shot and get it out of obscurity.
@FreetoliveinFire I havent actually played the games, but i did see an interview recorded concerning the possibility of a 2013 release of Shenmue 3. It seems large petitions of up to 400,000 signatures are out there looking for support about it!
This is one of my favorite songs in my favorite game. This music brings back so many memories! ahh where did the days go? Shenmue is and always will be the best game ever... now that lame Call of Duty and Halo is popular now... Sega we NEED a Shenmue 3! I mean it! :D
Exactly like Shenmue there's not, but Yakuza series is something similar although is more action packed (only played Yakuza 4 btw). But there are lots of adventure games out there that require talking and solving some complex puzzles and one that I recommend is Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.
@KojiKabutoITA I wish -____- Oh well.. Have you ever played any of the Yakuza games? they definetely are a spiritual successor to Shenmue. Beat down on PS2 was cool too.

@Lancelotxxx I'll take Shenmue over any other RPG in ever created. Final Fantasy is too lengthy and dramatic. Shenmue connects the player to the main character and keeps the player interested, without bogging them down in too much exercises, like turn based combat (which I was never a fan of).

Shenmue killed sega; but it was worth it. It's a shame the unwashed masses can't appreciate a game with depth.
